Getting to the OK prompt on a V250

History of the machine is unknown, someone prior to me installed solaris 9. I do not know any user/pass combos, and have tried several obvious root password. The server uses a USB SUN keyboard mouse combo. The keyboard does not recieve power (i.e. num lock won't turn on/off) until it starts boot process. I can not get to a ok prompt to save my soul. I admit I have almost no experiance with solaris and a small amount of experiance with unix based systems.
I have tried the STOP-A combo hundreds of times all through out the boot. I have tried holding Stop-N the whole way through the boot presses and even randomaly through it, I never get the NVRAM reset message. I have popped the cmos battery for 10 minutes.
When I pull all the HD's out I get a error which sends me to a OK prompt and the system hangs. I am really at a loss with this one. Anyone able to help?

The Sun Fire V250 ws designed to be a server system,
and despite its upright chassis shape, it's not a desktop workstation.
Thus there are some quirks and design features that exist for servers
that might be absent if it were a standalone end-user system.
For example, behind the front bezel, there is an Operation Mode Switch.
It is to the right of the power button.
As per the system's documentation that you can download from the SSH,

If that rotary switch is in the locked or DIAG position, the keyboard will be disabled.
Keep it in the 12-o'clock "Normal" position and you'll have use of the keyboard.

Get a set of Solaris installation CD's.
Download and burn a set for yourself if you need to.
Boot the system.
When you get a signal to the monitor and can see the 'baton' spinning around,
you can then hold the STOP key and begin tapping the "A" key.
Once you are at the OK prompt, you can change the OBP environmental variable
so that the system always stops at the OK prompt, and then you reset the system.
When it returns to the OK prompt, you can insert the first OS installation CD,
and boot to that environment. Edit the /etc/shadow file to give a null password
to the root user account. Once that is done, you can reboot the system without the CD.
You'll have full access to the previously installed Solaris environment.
( A Google search on "solaris root password" shows that password recovery is extremely well documented. )

Use a serial cable to connect to the server, then with either putty or teraterm connected power on the server. When it displays something similar to this:

OpenBoot 4.30.4.c, 32768 MB memory installed, Serial etc
etc.
etc.
Use the putty special command to send a break signal or use teraterm control --> send break. The server will drop to the ok prompt.
This is how I do it on all our servers as required and works a treat.

In the search field in your Vista start menu, type cmd
Next, right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

How do I get past the password prompt with a locked iPhone?

I updated to iOS7, and everything seemed fine. But then when the phone locked after a few minutes, it asked me for a password to unlock. I never used a password before. So the phone is asking me for something I didn't have to do before. Now the phone remains in a locked state.
I tried my Apple ID password, 0000, 1234, last four of my phone number, last 4 of my SSN, and nothing works. Has anyone else encountered this?
The ultimate solution is to restore the phone to factory settings using iTunes, but that is pretty drastic, and besides, there is another little quirk about my phone that makes it not so easy -- I can't turn the phone off. The button on the top no longer works. I've learned to deal with that by just setting the phone to blank out after a minute, and of course when the new phone becomes available, I'm going to buy it, but in the meantime, the only way to turn the phone off is to let the battery discharge. So in order to restore to factory settings, I also have to let the phone discharge.

Yes, I have the same problem! It is driving me crazy as I don't have a clue what code they want me to put in and now everytime I try a new one my phone is disabled and I have to wait half an hour until I can try another one! It's ridiculous!!!

when i went into disk utilities and chose to clean my free space i left it over one hour to do its stuff
i came back and there was no progress bar just the box so i quit the program and when i opened mac mail the system just froze i forced quit mail rebooted and blue screen death

I had the same problem and found a bunch of others did, too. Unfortunately all the posts had no responses! Anyway, I previously had my payment method linked to my paypal. I tried changing it to my credit card and it worked. Don't know if there's a bug with using paypal but that seemed to be the culprit for me. Good luck!

This may be related to a new feature embedded in iOS7 that shows all purchased music by default. Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music. See if the issue ceases once the feature has been disabled. This information is located on page 63 of the user guide below.

If only some of the songs on an album are giving you the authorisation message, that suggests those song files are damaged.

I understand that you are getting a 404 message when you access a website from a Mac, not a PC.
First check the cache for the site:
Reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using '''one''' of the following steps:
*Hold down the ''Shift'' key and click the ''Reload'' button with a left click.
OR
*Press ''Command'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Mac)

From what I gather, you have a payment method selected for your iTunes Store account which isn’t being accepted when setting up Family Sharing.
Take a look at the he article linked below provides, which provides a lot of great information about Family Sharing, and make sure you're trying to use a valid payment method for setting up Family Sharing.

I there a way on how can i get the dashboard prompt value when using other operators beside equal/is in. It seems that you can only set a presentation variable using the equal/is in operator.
Also how can i get prompt value when using multi-select control?

Hi. Yes, presentation variable is only for is equal to/is in.
But no need to use other operators ( is less than or equal to, etc) if you want to write data in presentation variable, use equal/is in if you want to show data that is for example less and set presentation variable and in the report instead if IS PROMPTED write advanced SQL filter like:
TABLE.COLUMN <= '@{pv}'
You asked also how can to get prompt value when using multi-select control?
No way to do that. But what do you need that information for. Lets say that you are able to do that and you put multiple values from multi-select into variable, where do you need to present that data? In the report? No need for that because the report is already filtered by it.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
