Glitchy square when panning .png over a video.

Hey everyone, I had an issue with panning images over videos.
I have an flv that I am running in my background and I have some png's with transparency in a movieclip along with some text. I have that movie clip panning across the video. There is a faint 'glitchy' outline of the square that makes up my movieclip. I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of that.
I have tried cache as bitmap, played with different fps, tried to do only alpha fade in. All of those tries did not work.
If you have input on solution that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hey kglad, OK, after more testing this is looking like an issue only within flash professional. When I compile within there to test my .swf, that is the only time I get the effect. If I run the already created .swf locally or on a server I will not see the 'glitchy' effect.
It is very interesting that with your .mp4 I do not see the 'glitch' within flash or locally. It is only doing it with my flv.
It was very tough for me to capture on a screenshot but I got something. The arrows are pointing at the edge of the movie clip, you can see how there are larger pixel squares in that area vs around. When it is tweening you can see those bigger boxes moving a little and changing color. Almost like its not updating exactly with the video.
I really appreciate your work/help on figuring out this issue!

• Is it possible to overlay a PNG over video layer?

This process may be strange but there's a reason for this madness. We are taking h.264 .mp4 videos into PowerPoint then using the Acrobat 9 extended pro add-on and converting this file to a .pdf. There's possibly a need to put a watermark over the video. However when we insert a transparent PNG over the video in PowerPoint then convert it to .PDF the video punches through the PNG. It seems like the video layer wants to be the frontmost even if listed as part of the background in Acrobat. We can go back to the video and do it there but we would have to process the video again so we're trying to avoid that. Any ideas?

Hello Kiira Doon,
The troubleshooting steps detailed below may help get your iPhone's display to function.
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.

• How do you display a swf video / videos when you mouse over

How do you display a swf video / videos when you mouse over, It'll be something like a pop up but just that it doesn't open in another windows but within the same window and will be like a pop up roll over image.

Thank you for the reply.
I've been putzing around with it and came across the 'SetEventHandler' object and thought I'd try and make that one work.
Here's what I've got so far.
<mx:SetEventHandler target="{turnAroundMovie}" name="handleMovieClip" handler="stopMovie()"/>
And then my fuction.
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
private function stopMovie():void{
turnAroundMovie.stop(); <!-- here's where I'm getting stuck -->
]]>
</mx:Script>
My first instinct was the simple stop(), but that didn't fly. I even added a stopMovie frame in my .swf and tried a gotoAndStop('stopMovie'); but that didn't fly either. And that's kind of where I'm stuck at.

How are you trying to play them, in the iTunes store or the Music and Videos apps ? Downloaded and synced music and videos should be in the Music and Videos apps, and you can stop content that is only in the cloud from showing in them via Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music and Videos 'off' (under the 'show all' heading).
If you don't have your music and films/TV shows in those two apps then you should be able to download them into those apps via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app.

Hi colin3!
It sounds like you could be having an issue with one of the microphones on your iPhone 5. Your iPhone 5 has three microphones that function together and separately, depending on what is using them.
Apple - iPhone 5 - It’s so much more. And so much less, too.
http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/
Enhanced audio on iPhone 5.
Apple EarPods are just the beginning of the improved audio experience on iPhone 5. It’s designed with three microphones: one on the front, one on the back, and one on the bottom. The front and back mics work together to achieve beamforming — a technique that helps iPhone focus on sound from the desired location for clearer audio. New noise-canceling technology reduces background noise. So when you hold iPhone up to your ear in a loud room, you hear what matters most: the voice on the other end.
There is an article available that can help you troubleshoot the issue a little further and can guide you to some next steps. That article can be found here:

• Disk Image Video Pixelates when panning

I just completed my first dvd project and exported it to a disk image to test it out.
When I played back the video in the DVD player the video became pixelated whenever the camera panned left or right in the image. This did not seem to happen when I played the video in Quicktime. The video files were all .avi files.
Is there a way to overcome this? Would converting the .avi files to something else help at all?

Hmm, it actually looks like it is a weird FPS.
23.98
23.98?? There is a movie standard 24 fps.... If that's really the frame rate, QuickTime has to insert 6 duplicate frames per second to get to the NTSC standard 29.97 fps. That could make things a little jerky.
Format: 704 x 384, Thousands
ATSC A/52 and AC-3 Decoder, Stereo, 48.000 kHz
The file is only 8-bit color (Thousands) and not 24-bit color (Millions) - that could make some areas blocky.
Making S L O W pans is the best way to avoid pixelated pans on a DVD.

The video in FCPX looks fine, But when I load it the photos will play over top of each other or double play.

Export your project as Quick Time Current Settings by choosing Export Media in the Share menu. See if the movie plays correctly in QT Player. If it does, upload that to Web.

• HELP! Exporting smart build over a video background to QT?

Hi,
I have a single slide with a QT movie as a loop in the background with a smart build of images over the top. It's for a corporate event and the build needs to loop during the coffee break.
I need to export this to a movie file and then place it back in to another presentation so i can make the build loop.
However, when i export to QT the background movie plays once, stops and then the smart build runs through.
I've tried removing the background movie as I'm happy to have the smart build only to loop. When i export the build with a transparent background it is replaced with black. This means I can't place this over the original movie background.
The other, more simple alternative which I can't fathom is to make the smart build loop on it's own on the original slide so I don't need to export it as a video!!!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Simon

I've worked out that if you export to QT using png Codec it WILL keep the transparent background! I've now managed to solve this problem by creating a transparent QT and placing over the video background.

• I have a new Macbook Pro. When watching Youtube videos, it works perfectly until I attempt to watch the video in full screen. When in full screen, the video freezes immediately and the audio continues. When minimized it works fine as before. Help?

I have a brand new Macbook model A1502. I am taking online college classes that incorporate youtube tutorial videos. I can watch the videos if I don't maximize the screen to full screen. When in full screen, the video freezes immediately and the audio continues uninterrupted. I can press escape and go back to the previous screen and the video continues to play with no problems. Can anyone help me please? This machine is literally just out of the box with maybe an hour of use. Thanks in advance

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

• Firewire DV output disconnects when I pop over to other programs

I am brand new to the Mac and brand new to Final Cut Studio, just bought both of them this month. I do After Effects animation and edit the animations with clients in the room, I've been using Premiere on a Windows laptop for years, and I've been told my workflow would benefit if I tried working on a Mac. Now that I'm on a MacBook Pro with Final Cut I've run into an issue.
Final Cut Pro 5.1.3 seems to be working fine, I'm editing DV video on my 2.33ghz Core2duo 15" MacBook Pro through Firewire to an ADVC DAC-100 analog/digital converter box, out S-Video to a 32" TV for the clients. However, once I pop over to another program, say Photoshop, After Effects, or the Finder, Final Cut's firewire connection is lost, and the TV turns purple, the default DAC-100 behavior when there is no firewire input. (It turns blue when I use my Canon ZR40 instead of the DAC-100.) Once I pop back over to Final Cut Pro, the firewire connection is re-established and my animations are back on the TV. I use several programs in conjunction with the video editor, and I need the firewire connection to remain on so the TV doesn't turn purple every time I jump back into After Effects, Photoshop, etc.
Final Cut Studio comes with 90 days support, so I called and Apple phone support told me that the way I have things set up is very uncommon and not supported. DV footage out to a Firewire device is not supported? Are you kidding me? The local Apple Store has several Geniuses with Final Cut Pro experience, they told me that the fact that FCP loses firewire connection when I change programs is "pretty much the nature of the beast". They recommended I use a DVI connector to output to S-Video out to the TV, but I'm already using my laptop's DVI to output to my 21 inch monitor, and I will NOT work from my 15" laptop display (or a 17" laptop display for that matter).
I called phone support again and they told me that if I had a Mac Pro I would have more options, but with a laptop my "special workflow" is not very well supported, unless I stay in Final Cut Pro and not switch programs over to Photoshop or anything else.
Here is why I feel like I am in the twilight zone: Premiere 6.5 in Windows automatically keeps firewire connection when I pop over to After Effects. Premiere Pro 2.0's default behavior is to lose firewire connection when switching to another program, but I simply unchecked the "Disable video output when Premiere Pro is in the background" checkbox to keep the connection when switching programs. Premiere has been able to do this for years, I have a VERY hard time believing that Final Cut Pro, which is regarded as the BEST video editing program, cannot maintain firewire output unless it is the "in focus" application. I have been through all the preferences, I can't find anything to alter this behavior.
If I cannot solve this problem with Final Cut Pro, I will need to find a DV/analog firewire box that defaults to BLACK instead of purple when firewire gets disconnected. Please let me know if anyone can tell me the solution to this, I have a VERY hard time believing that editing video on a MacBook Pro while monitoring on a TV through firewire is only supported if I don't pop over to any other programs.
Thanks in advance for the help, I am already $5,000 into this experiment of trying to do my animation work on a Mac and I will not be happy if I can't get things to work.

You're not losing firewire control when you switch over, you are losing the video playback. Even if you were viewing your canvas on your desktop you would still go back to a ragular screen when you switch apps. You would probably have to monkey with your external monitor to adjust how it responds to a lack of signal.
