Global data getting reset when running under IIS?

We have a scenario using IIS with an ASP.NET web service written in VB.NET. When a call to the web service is made, the web service calls a native dll (written in C, compiled using VS2010) using platform invoke, which in turn calls into our product API:
VB.NET web service -> native library (p/invoke) -> native API ....
Web service requests are successfully completed and the system runs without problem for hours. A trace of the native API shows it is being called by multiple processes and multiple threads within those processes.
The main native API dll contains a static global variable used to detect whether it is the first time it has been called and run initialization logic if it is. This dll is itself linked to a second dll that contains a global variable used to detect if it is
the first time it has been called.
After some hours the trace shows that the native API is invoked by an existing process but that the initialization logic is being exercised again, even though the global variable was set to indicate not first time and is never reset.  One theory was that
the first process has ended and a new process has started almost instantaneously using the same process ID. However this is not the case as existing thread IDs from the same process are seen to write to the trace again after the first time logic has executed
for the second time, indicating the process has not restarted. The problem occurs regularly.
It is as though the process's global data has been initialized again and malloc'ed memory freed while the processing is still running. Is there any way this is possible when running under IIS?
There is an internal thread which waits on a blocking read of a named pipe (via ReadFile), and when the problem occurs, the ReadFile call ends with ERROR_NO_ACCESS, which appears to indicate the malloc'ed buffer is no longer valid, again implying something
has happened to the memory allocated to the process.

    There is a little auxilliary in the phone. This is the battery that keeps the clock going when the main battery is removed or flat.
    Usually the date/time resets when there is a fault with this auxilliary battery. You can get it replaced at your nearest Nokia Care Point.

  • SSO to partner application running under IIS

    Hi,
    We have a complete set-up for 9iAS Release2 where some applications are running. In parallell we have an application running under IIS, and would now like to enable the IIS application as a partner application to 9iAS letting the 9iAS SSO server handle the authentication.
    In the documentation of Oracle Proxy Plug-in I read that this proxy plug-in can be used to proxy requests from IIS to Oracle http server (OHS) and also in this way enable SSO.
    My question is if this can be done only for applications running under 9iAS but having IIS as web server, or if it is also possible like in our case to enable SSO via the proxy plug-in to applications runnind under IIS?
    If this is not supported is the only available solution to use the SSO SDK in my IIS application?
    Thanks and regards,
    Rikard

    Here's a DIY answer.
    See Metalink Note 269820.1 which shows you how to use Perl to overwrite the host name in the HTTP header and remove the port number.

    Hello All,
    I searched quite a number of forums before posting and all that I have come to know is that some have mentioned it to be related to COM. I do not have experience dealing with COM and no idea how I can sort this out. I hope someone can provide guidance on
    these:
    Question 1: Server (2008 R2 Standard) is having 4 websites. Default - Running, WS2 - Stopped, WS3 - Running and WS4 - Running. When I run the command "invoke-command -computername Server1 -Credential domain\User -ScriptBlock

    What I have been able to figure out is that it returns complete data for the Default Website and then throws the error. Tried the same command on another server running 2 websites (both in started state) and same results :(
    Question 2: When the same command "Get-Website" is run locally on the server then only 5 columns show by default; Name, ID, State, Physical Path & Bindings. Why then the command when run remotely returns slightly
    more data?
    PS: I have Win7 x64 on my desktop. Tried the commands from x86 as well as x64 shells and same results.

    Hi Yan,
    When I use Enter-PSSession, it works in the same manner as if the command is run locally. Hence the same output as local.
    I am not sure of the exact way to use [Reflection.Assembly]::LoadFile('C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll')
    I tried this and get an error:
    invoke-command -Session $session -ScriptBlock invoke-command -Session $session -ScriptBlock {[Reflection.Assembly]::LoadFile('C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll'); get-website}

  • Endianness when running under Rosetta?

    Hi all,
    I have a Carbon application which is reading binary data from a file's resource and then has to work with that data. I know the endianness of the data on disk so I used to do a byte-swap when necessary (after using ReadPartialResource() to get the data into my variable).
    I dutifully converted all those unconditional byte-swaps to CFSwapInt32BigToHost() in order to make sure that things work correctly when running on an Intel machine (since the application is not universal, the app is running under Rosetta on Intel machines).
    Today I tested the application on an iMac Intel CoreDuo (in my local Apple Store) - things worked just fine. However, even the old version with unconditional byte-swapping works correctly...
    Does this mean the "Host" on in Intel machine is still big endian? Anybody can corroborate this or point me to documentation of this behaviour?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi,
    to support the other posters intention: I would not need an emulator, if any code could be run between to processor types. If I have an emulator, it has to give a complete emulation of one processor another. If VirtualPC would have used BigEndians, no wndows would have ever started on those. So the other way round I assume that Rosetta will think Big (in Endianess).

  • Table Maintainance Generated but getting error when running SM30

    Hi Experts,
    I am modifying existing ZTable with around 31 fields and Maintainance was not allowed before also no Table maintainance was there. Now i have changed the attributes to allow maintainance and tried creating Table Maintainance generator.
    The TMG get created sucessfully but get error message when running SM30 for the Ztable with Run time error saying Coversion Error .
    Error Analysis says :
    Program SAPLZNMSLG attempted to display the fields of screen 0005 and error occured during the coversion of this data.
    Can any one let me know what happened? Expecting replies at the earliest.
    Thanks

  • Upper-level Essbase data gets deleted on running CALC ALL

    Hi,
    We have a need to aggregate missing values (#Missing) to the parent level and so this is what we did. Go to EAS->Expand Essbase Servers->Expand the concerned application->Right-click on database->Edit->Properties and check the option to "Aggregate missing values". After doing this, we are having a peculiar issue when we execute "CALC ALL". We see that some of our upper-level data (non-level 0 data) gets deleted, and so we have to re-run all our business rules to calculate upper-level data. To be specific, we are having this issue of data going missing in accounting statements/reports such as Balance Sheet/Income Statement. In this reports, the rows are members of Account dimension (Dense) and the columns are members of Company dimension (Sparse). All other dimension are made POV. We did NOT have this problem when the 'Aggregate missing values' option was UNCHECKED. Does CALC ALL work differently when AGGMISS option is ON?
    We are using Hyperion Planning, Essbase and Financial Reporting (version 11.1.1.3).
    Thanks for any advice.
    Regards,
    ABG

    Hi John,
    Now that you mentioned your point about upper-level data, I double-checked the Account dimension members (for which the data was being deleted) and you are right that I am seeing a different behavior than I posted originally. Sorry about that. So this is what I am observing:
    The Account dimension has 'Balance Sheet' as one of the children. This member, 'Balance Sheet', has children: Cash, Receivables, Payables so on, and all children of 'Balance Sheet' are level 0 members. Now, we run calculation scripts to calculate the values of these members. These members form the rows of Balance Sheet report. After all the relevant calc script have been executed, I am running a script that has just CALC ALL in it. I am observing that the values of Cash, Receivables, Payables etc (level 0 children of Balance Sheet) are getting deleted when we have the option "Aggregate Missing Values" as checked in EAS.
    Then, I inserted SET AGGMISS OFF before CALC ALL in the script and now the values are intact! I am trying to understand why CALC ALL would delete those values when AGGMISS is ON?
    You said that most people do not use CALC ALL. What is the better alternative to aggregate the database then? Is it CALC DIM?
    Thanks and regards,
    ABG

  • API calls delayed when run under certain AD accounts

    We are having an interesting issue with an API integration into our TFS 2013.3 system.
    We have an internal custom web service that calls into the TFS API. When running the custom service under an AD account created specifically for this purpose (uses pass through auth when talking to the TFS API using DefaultNetworkCredentials in the code)
    all calls take their time to execute + 30 seconds. When I switched the app pool account for the service to use my own personal AD account that 30 second delay disappears. Inside TFS the accounts have almost identical privileges and assignments and the
    calls with the delay still succeed with no obvious event log entries pointing to any issues. The only obvious difference is that my account is a local admin on the server while the intended service account is not.
    Currently this issue is blocking us from performing out production TFS installation and this is for a national bank so getting our account security correct and clean is highly critical.

    Here is one of the calls code.
    All connections are initiated using the same connection code.
    We are not allowed debug access on the effected systems.
    Uri teamFoundationURI =newUri(ConfigAccessBase.GetConfig("TeamFoundationBaseServiceURI"));
    ///uses CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentialsTfsConfigurationServer server =newTfsConfigurationServer(teamFoundationURI, ConfigAccessBase.TeamFoundationCredentials);
    server.Authenticate(); CatalogNode configServerNode = server.CatalogNode;
    ReadOnlyCollection<CatalogNode> tpcNHodes = configServerNode.QueryChildren(newGuid[] { CatalogResourceTypes.TeamProject }, true, CatalogQueryOptions.None);

    I got the same error while doing "dp.initialize()"
    I fixed this error by chang the the "olap_api.jar class12.jar" to "o4j.jar".
    But i can't explain that.
    Can anyone tell me why?
    By the way , the "olap_api.jar class12.jar" are copy from the %ORACLE_HOME%\10.2.0\db_1\olap\api\lib .

  • A Playlist based on last played date gets reset randomly

    The playlist I use most of the time is one that shows music that hasn't been played in the past 120 days.  Lately, at random intervals, the playlist gets reset as if iTunes has forgotten what I played the past day or so.  So some songs are having their last played date set back to an earlier time (or maybe a random earlier time, I can't be sure).  It looks to me like it's not just what has been played the past day or so that is being affected, but songs that have been played earlier, but not all of them.
    I've tried restoring the iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml files from a backup of the previous evening, and when I open iTunes things look OK, but within a minute after starting up the playlist will get reset again. Any thoughts on why this might be happening and how I can hopefully fix things so it won't happen?  Thanks very much for any ideas anybody can offer.

    Hi,
    Thanks for you replay and documentation, but it doesn't give me excatly the functionality I'm after. The only MTD calculation code the document provides is the calculation of the following functionality:
    "Month to Date (MTD) u2013 From the 1st of month to u201CKey Dateu201D - for current year." This doesn't give the the functionality I want, which is to retrieve a given vaule for a Key Figure for the last dates of the months in a year to calculate MTD and YTD.
    This way I have created the query is to have multiple hidden Key Figures that calculates the MTD and YTD.
    In Columns in Query Designer it will look something like this:
    Selection: MTD January--> Date = 31.01.2008, Key Figure (Always Show)
    Selection: YTD January --> Date= 31.01.2008, Key Figure (Always Show)
    Selection: MTD February --> Date= 29.02.2008, Key Figure (Always Hide)
    Formula: MTD February --> MTD February - MTD January (Always Show)
    Selection YTD February --> Date = 29.02.2008, Key Figure (Always Show)
    And so on....
    This is off course a simplified version, but it shows the core of the solution. What I want to achive here is that the dates used to get the Key Figures (last date of a month) is calculated as flexible as possible, so that the users can go back and forth in time without worrying about the leap year problem and so on. I have now used an offset from the last date of last year and this is good for all the normal years, but when it is a leap year the query will use wrong dates to get the key figure vaule for the last date of each month.
    Any ideas on how to achieve this without creating 12 different Customer Exit variables (one for each end date of each month)?
    Thanks
    Regards

    Hi,
     Looks like you have an obvious code error, invalid cast operation in your code. Do you get this error when running in local emulator.
     You can try the following article on how to debug published cloud service, assuming you have VS ultimate.

  • Time & Labor: EARLIEST_CHGDT not always getting reset when timesheet is upd

    We recently installed Time & Labor version 9.0 and we're seeing intermittent problems with corrected timesheets. Most of the time when an employee submits a timesheet - new or updated - it resets the EARLIEST_CHGDT on TL_TR_STATUS back to the beginning of the week for which the change was made. That sets the timesheet so that it's picked up by Time Admin and new Payable Time is created.
    However, we have had some employees make changes and the EARLIEST_CHGDT does not get reset, so they do not go through Time Admin and their payable time does not match their reported time.
    Has anyone else experienced this problem with EARLIEST_CHGDT not getting reset? There doesn't seem to be any pattern - some are Elapsed reporters, some are Punch. Sometimes it's when a day is added, somethimes it's when a day is changed. But it doesn't happen every time.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Update:
    I tried doing a Full Restore and Setting up as a New Phone instead of restoring from my backup incase there was a problem with my backups too.
    Unfortunately it still didn't work.
