Global mounting default timeout of 1min 30s

I know that there are mount options in /etc/fstab to help control timeout for individual file system mounts, but I am not too fond of tinkering with /etc/fstab because it becomes less portable.  is there a system-wide way to change this 1:30 min mounting timeout parameter globally, applying to all mounts, that I can change?
/iaw
PS: I hope everyone has forgotten my embarrassing post yesterday.  long story.  I was not mentally ill.

As mounting is just a service (edit: a systemd unit), I suspect you can't change this without affecting other services units (without using fstab options).  In some cases, setting too low of a timeout may make some services fail when they would actually complete eventually.  That said, I suspect that the following in /etc/systemd/system.conf are what you are looking for:
#DefaultTimeoutStartSec=90s
#DefaultTimeoutStopSec=90s
EDIT: corrected terminology from "service" to "unit" as noted below - the point remains the same.

  • SOAP receiver Default timeout value

    Hi Everybody,

  • Change the default timeout for Air in Ubuntu?

I found that the default timeout for Air in Ubuntu is by default 30 seconds. I need to change it, but I could not do it. I know that there are some issues relating timeout https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-22016 https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-4934 and https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-27551
I compiled my application with Air 2.5 SDK and now on Windows the timeout set by me is used. But in Ubuntu is still 30 seconds.
Do you have any solution to change the timeout? In the flash bug there is a workaround for Windows, but nothing for other OS. Do you know from where the value of timeout is loaded by Air?

    Hi IoneIB,
I am still fcing this issue in windows for my FileReference.download() method for my AIR application.I am using 2.7 SDK.How did you fix this issue ? Please provide me the solution..

  • Default Timeout on Data Socket

In my application, I am communicating with a PLC thru RS Linx utilizing a data socket. I can successfully open the socket, write the value and update using the following:
    DS_Open with  DSConst_Write option
    DS_SetDataValue and then DS_Update
For robustness, I want to be able to alert the operator if the ethernet cable attaching the PC to PLC is unplugged, most likely or some other portion of the process has failed, less likely once setup.
I do have a solution to the above, but what I have found is that if during the execution of my program I disconnect the cable,  DS_Update does give me an error indicating that sometheing is wrong, but my code hangs the thread for an indeterminate amount of time at least 1 second either through the execution of the DS_SetDataValue cmd or DS_Update. Both commands don't have a timeout associated with them, but is there some default timeout that is used.
As a work around, my thought is that I if available I could use feedback from a callback if fast enough which can detect when a network cable has been disconnected to avoid this indeterminate timeout by avoiding any set or update commands when the cable is not connected.

    Hi testguy,
Have you tried some of the other data socket functions? DS_IsConnected or DS_GetStatus may be able to tell the status of the connection a little faster; you could run one of those before the DS_Update so it doesn't hang. The full list of data socket functions can be seen here .
There are also some other communication protocols that do allow timeout configuration, like telnet, TCP, and UDP.
    Hope this helps!

  • Error 1502: A script has executed for longer than the default timeout period of X seconds.

    Hi,
I have a swf that i can´t change (i don´t own the code and it´s copyrighted). In some cases, I´m getting error 1502, after 30 seconds executing the file.
Is there a way to change or disable the default timeout period? Remember that i can´t edit the .fla...
    Thanks in advance!

you can load that swf into another swf and adjust the timeout duration in the main swf.

  • Global Light Defaults

In CS4 I was able to set a global light default by going to Layer > Layer Styles > Glogal Light... Once I set that global light value (example: 90º), any new document created would have that same global light setting.
In CS5, I have to set the global light on every single new document that I create. The default setting I choose is totally ignored on new documents.
Do I have a bad install? Does global light work for others in the same way as cs4? Are they fixes that people are aware of for this issue?
    Thanks in Advance

If you mean the Lighting Effects Filter, that was removed from PSE12. However if you have an older version of PSE you can copy the Lighting Effects filter to PSE12 (unless it is the PSE10 version which does not work). If you don't have an older version you can still download the PSE11 trial from prodesigntools.com (providing you follow their very important instructions exactly).

  • Discoverer Plus and the SSO GUIT (Global User Inactivity Timeout)

Does Discoverer Plus obey the Global User Inactivity Timeout?
We've enabled SSO for Discoverer Plus and Viewer (v. 9.0.4.45.02), and we've
configured the Global User Inactivity Timeout. For testing, we set GUIT to 5 minutes.
When we re-activate a Viewer session after more than 5 minutes of no activity,
we're prompted for our SSO username/password, as expected.
If we leave a Plus session inactive for more than 5 minutes, we are not prompted for our SSO username/password.
If we leave a Plus session inactive for 30 minutes, a pop-up appears warning us
that Plus will exit if we don't take some action. This pop-up is driven by the fact that we set Timeout to 30 minutes in the pref.txt file. Plus behaved this way before we enabled it for SSO.
We thought that Plus and Viewer are both governed by GUIT in the SSO environment. Are we wrong about that?

Yes, i am having the same problem with the Timeout. No matter what i have the timeout set to, the portal never redirects to the login, the users stay logged in indefinitely. We are running 10gAS (10.1.2). I have a feeling it has something to do with the cookie not being properly set. If ANYONE has any experience with this please reply. thanks so much

  • What is the default timeout value for the SPQuery object?

What is the default timeout value for the SharePoint SPQuery object? I've tried searching online but can't find anything with the actual timeout value.
Someone suggested it might use the timeout property in the database? Anyone know if that's how it works?

    Hi,
Do you want to avoid timeout when you query list items?
If so, we can use the following C# code to set timeout.
    HttpContext.Current.Server.ScriptTimeout = 600; // 10 minutes
    More information is here:
    http://200oksolutions.blogspot.com/2013/03/sharepoint-2010-set-timeout-only-to.html
The SPQuery object doesn’t provide any property to set timeout. We can also set timeout in web.config, or SQL Connections or IIS.

  • What is the default timeout length of time in ASP?

    Hi,
I have an area of a web site that requries a login. Our client wants to know how long someone can be inactive before they are automatically logged out. How long is it, and how do I change it if they want it changed? I see a way to do this in ColdFusion, but not in ASP.
    Many thanks!

The default timeout for an ASP session is 20 minutes.

I have installed Sun Cluster 3.2 on Solaris U5 Generic_137112-07, and found the same issue. I just have a single node cluster, as I the second piece of hardware is already running applications in production w/ out cluster. My cluster node will replace it, then the other will be rebuilt to the same OS spec and married to the cluster later.

after the problems are corrected, please clear the maintenance flag on globaldevices by running the command (lists svcadm clear command)
The slice I used for the /globaldevices was c3t0d0s5, and before the last reboot (see reasoning below), that was indeed mapped to /dev/did/(r)dsk/d3s5, what it's mapped to now I can't say but clearly it would seem that device linkage has changed.
The kicker here is that all was well, I have 8 resource groups, each with logical host and HA StoragePlus ZFS Pool resources. I just did a touch reconfigure;reboot in order to troubleshoot some SAN LUNs where I only have a single path (the ones functioning normally have two paths). Server comes back online, and BLAM now it's a cluster fsck.
cldev status shows all DID's in Unknown status.

  • Default timeout for wls ejb

    Hi,
what's the default transcation timeout for wls81 ejb if I don't specify trans-timeout-seconds? what is the effect if the trans-timeout-seconds has value 0? Does trans-timeout-seconds works for MDB? I set
    @ejbgen:message-driven ejb-name="MyMB" destination-jndi-name="MyTopic" destination-type="javax.jms.Topic" durable="False" trans-timeout-seconds="30",
it doesn't timeout after 30 secs.
    Thanks

    Hi,
A transaction timeout will not necessarily cause your MDB's onMessage method to exit early. Only certain events, such as trying to enroll a new resource in the transaction, will cause the status of the transaction to be checked. For example, if you tried to enroll a new resource, such as a database, in a timed out transaction, the enrollment would fail and an exception would be thrown. In this case, it would cause your onMessage method to be interrupted. However, if the transaction timed out and your MDB was busy processing something that didn't involve a transactional resource, I wouldn't expect the processing to end prematurely because of the timeout.

  • [Bug] Default timeout value of Wait for Occurrence

This one kind of cheesed me off this morning.
When I create a constant/control from a terminal on a primitive I have come to expect the value to be the default value.  Those tricky folks found a way to get me again.
Drop a Wait on Occurrence onto the BD
Right-Click on 'Create Control' or 'Create Constant' from the suggestively named 'ms timeout (-1)' terminal
The value/default is not -1, but rather 0.
Slightly different behavior between -1 and 0.

Personally, I greatly appreciate this usability enhancement. It would annoy me if I had to put an index array after every delete from array when I delete only a single element.
I like the feature, I don't like the implementation.  Why can't a value of -1 be the default and that corresponds to a single scalar item being removed?  Instead of 0 be the default corresponding to delete nothing.
