Gnome 3.4.1 unable to set resolutions for a dual-monitor setup

I use Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller.
I updated my system to the latest version of everything. Gnome-Shell works, gnome-control-center works, but the Displays icon doesn't (clicking on it does nothing). I even downgraded it to the version 3.2.2 but it didn't help. Is there any other way to set the resolutions?
Edit: xrandr can do the resolution thing. But problems start appearing:

Have you tried XRandR through an xorg.conf file: Here?
If it doesn't work you can always drop to a terminal and
sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
to remove the file and reboot and you should be back where you started.
Don't forget to substitute the VGA1 and HDMI1 ports in that example with your ports as given by
xrandr -q
Edit: in the unlikely event you already have an xorg.conf file don't forget to back it up in case you need to restore it instead of the above rm command.

Hello Matthew,
You should also change your temp directory to something woth no spaces, something like C:\temp.
Sapisnt sometimes has problems with the spaces in the temp path, and the Universal Installer nearly always
has a problem with this.

labelFunction is the best way to do this. The attached code also shows how to do it with an itemRenderer, though that would not be as efficient.

EIS error - "Unable to set locale for GlobalC"

Hello all!
I'm working with Oracle Performance Scorecard and Oracle Integration Services to generate an Essbase cube. I'm not able no generate my cube from HPS even it doesn't showing any error in the screen but in the HPS log it shows the error message "Unable to set locale for GlobalC". So, i've noticed that the problem isn't with HPS, but EIS. I decided start the EIS shell (olapicmd.exe) and the same error message was showed in the cmd prompt. Could anyone help with this issue?

unable to set preferences for planning from workspace.(file--->preferences----->planning), when doing this task prompts " An Error occured" preferences works fine with other components IR, FR, WEB ANALYSIS.problem is only with the planning.
1) i restarted the workspace and planning services but even then the same issue.

Dual monitor setup with seperate resolutions

hey guys!
i currentley run thye latest version of archlinux with the cinnamon desktop environment and an nvidia geforce 7300SE graphics card.
im running a dual monitor setup with one 27" 1920x1080 monitor and one 27" 1024X768 monitor
because they have the same physical size they line up perfectley but because the resolution is different programs/mouse cursor movement doesnt, is there any way (without changing the resolutions) to compensate this effect so that in the eyes of linux/cinnamon the monitors line up so that for example dragging a window goes seamlessley between the 2 monitors.
i HAVE found out the panning option in the nvidia x server settings, but that really isnt what i am looking for...

A magnifier following the window down to the pixel, zooming to the exact size of 540 pixels the 384 pixels window could create an illusion of just that. It would be highly impractical however, not mention all the hacking time. Even if you would manage to get two screen with different sized icons, so that they match visually, the windows and fonts resizing on the fly, wmctrl might help with windows alone, no their themes (buttons, borders thickness etc.), you would still be left with a visually differently sized mouse cursor. Technically such a feat should be possible, but who is going to code it? Nvidia?

Setting resolution for viewing TV and movies on HDTV?

Last night I played around with watching Apple TV through iTunes using my MacBook Pro and 1080p TV. Conncection is made via a DVI to HDMI cable, with a separate mini-plug to RCA cable from the headphone output for audio. I can open Preferences on the Mac and set the resolution for the TV, but there is no 1080 option (1920 X 1080). The video card should support external monitor resolutions up to 2560 by 1600 pixels but I only see resolution options (for both the built in and HDTV) up to 1440 by 900 (native for the Mac's display).
The TV is recognized by the Mac, but the resolutions available are identical between the two, and changing resolution on one changes it on both.
Suggestions on which resolution to use? Or how to "unlock" the higher resolutions to get to 1920 by 1080?

What model MacBook Pro and what video format? Are you talking about the internal display or an external display? 1600 x 1200 is the old style 4:3 NTSC video format and 1920 x 1200 is today's widescreen 16:10 format. They're two different animals. The native resolution and what your notebook or external display can handle or adapt to are not necessarily the same thing.

I need to set dateTime for my custom fields for Incidents. I wanted to use Set-SCSMObject for that. But it doesn't work. For other field types it is working fine.

You must temporary change locale in your script.
In begin of script you must change locale in "En-Us":

And return locale after script body:

What is the maximum resolution for an external monitor for a 13" BMP

I have a new MBP 13 and a new Samsung LED 23" monitor that is spec'd at 1920x1080 resolution. However the maximum resolution I can get (using Display) for the external monitor is 1600x900 (or 1600x1200 stretched). What could be causing this limitation?

Are you guys able to resolve the issue with the Samsung HDTV LCD monitor? I just bought the Samsung B2230HD but having some image issue. I am connecting to the LCD from my macbook pro using Mini Display Port -> DVI -> HDMI but the image on the LCD is very grainy where the text is not sharp at all. The mac is able to detect the correct resolution of 1920x1080 though

Setting resolution for widescreen monitor

i have a samsung syncmaster 2253lw 22inch widescreen monitor which is recommended to use a resolution of 1680 x 1050 at 60hz but when trying to adjust this in the preferences it is not available as a setting. The 'detect display' button does nothing that i can see.

Unable to set CLASS_PATH for j2ee.jar

Hello all,
I have a peculiar problem. I have included the j2ee.jar path in my XP Home Edition environment variable, but javac is unable to get packages from there. I have echo-ed the CLASS_PATH in DOS command prompt and it reports the correct path of j2ee.jar. What's amazing is that when I type the full javac command with -classpath option (javac -classpath ____/j2ee.jar *.java) everything compiles well. I am lost here. Does someone here has a solution to this?

With XP, I had the same problem even if I had CLASSPATH. AFter lot of headbreaking I realized my J2EE_HOME and JAVA_HOME were part of user variables in the environment. But CLASSPATH I defined in the System variables and CLASSPATH was set with %J2EE_HOME%\lib\j2ee.jar which was the culprit. Once I moved the J2EE_HOME from user variables to system variables ..lo behold ..it was working and I did not have to substitue the j2ee.jar on the command line.

Unable to set parameters for "Act as Prox" in OBI11g

following Mark Rittman's blog I was able to set parameters and I could use this feature in OBI10g.
However, in OBI 11g I was not able.
1. In the init block of Proxyblock I am not able to add SET_RUNAS to Execution Precedence
The Add button is inactive.
2. In the init block of Proxylevel I am not able to add Proxyblock to Execution Precedence .
Only the SET_RUNAS available.
What to do?
Any ideas and help are appreciated!

Setting resolution on NEC myltisync monitor on a macG3

Hi,
I have a NEC multisync 1560nx lcd monitor, i have plugged it into my G3 but when i try to change the resolution to 1024-768 it wont change, i downloaded the multisync software for mac os9 and when i try to unstuff it it says....."decoding was incomplete because an unknown BINHEX header version was detected"
I have no idea what this means or how to solve the problem, please could anyone help with this, many thanks.

I downloaded that file (specifically the version for OS 9) and it fully auto-decompressed without problem. This was using OS 9.1 and IE 5.1.7 and its built-in decompression capabilities.
I also tested the downloaded file which was decompressed from the source's .hqx file, one named "NaViSet for Mac OS 9 V1.0.10.se" - the suffix should probably be .sea, which indicates it is a self-extracting file, one which does not need any assistance in order to decompress, but the name length exceeded OS 9's capability.
The file type indicates it was made by Stuffit Deluxe v. 7, but when I dropped it onto Stuffit Expander 5.5 it decompressed without a problem.
It also decompressed properly when I double-clicked that file, although it took a bit longer than using Stuffit Expander, and also required a response to a Navigation Services intercept (a request as to where to place the decompressed file).
Based on that testing, it would appear there is nothing wrong with the download or the file itself. Rather, it may be a function of how your software is configured for decompression of files - what version(s) of Stuffit Expander you have available, what browser you are using, etc.
Try dropping the initial (uncompressed) file onto the icon for Stuffit Expander.
