Go Daddy Website Tonight HTML Coding

Hi, Goddaddy.com has a website builder called Website Tonight, which allows HTML code entry into a block. I have a Dreamweaver template that I copied and paste the code from Dreamweaver into Website Tonight. What happens is the file path changes and none of my images appear in Website Tonight.
A code snippet from Dreamweaver would be:

There is a function called "Place images in Files folder" that I tried, and changed all paths above to "files" instead of "images," still no luck. Go Daddy support was no help at all. Any ideas? I may need to post to a Godaddy forum instead. Thanks!

Honestly, if you're fated to use Website Tonight as your site creation tool, use it and put DW away.
WT comes with it's own proprietary templates and tools.

Spry HTMLDataSet not displaying in GoDaddy Website Tonight

Hi,
Has anyone tried using Spry with Website Tonight?
I'm displaying a Spry HTMLDataSet on a Spry Tabbed Panel. It's a pretty simple page - you can see it working here: http://www.bigdogrugs.com/Script/TestMDTabs.html. The original Spry scripts are unmodified.
When I embed this code into a GoDaddy Website Tonight template, the tabbed panel works ok but the DataSet is not displaying. You can see the result here: http://michellesirois-silver.com/Gallery.html. The script and style tags are embedded in the HTML body vs. the head as that is a Website Tonight limitation (Website Tonight does have an option to embed script in the page head but that didn't work either.)
This may be a CSS problem. I'm just using the default Spry MasterDetail.css and SpryTabbedPanels.css.
I'm using Spry 1.6.1 and have tested in Firefox 3.5 and IE 8.

Hi Jerry,
I suspect this is a case of encountering the cross site scripting security rules. Basically this stops you showing content from one site on another site, as it makes a user vulnerable to script from another site running in their browser.
So in your case you can't show html or xml from another site in your site. You are trying to show content from one site http://www.bigdogrugs.com/Script/Gallery.html on another http://michellesirois-silver.com/Gallery.html and the browser security models prevent this.

If you place Gallery.html from bigdogrugs into http://michellesirois-silver.com/Script/Gallery.html and change the SpryHTMLDataSet reference then it should all work fine.

It looks to me like Website Tonight is an account where you are supposed to use Windows and Godaddy's own templates to build sites. It's not clear that you can upload a site produced on your own machine into this account using your own FTP program. That is essential for iWeb, so you may want to investigate further and make sure you get an account where you have FTP site uploading capabilities.

Thanks so much, Rick! That post was exactly what I needed -- and now I have another resource to search for next time.
There is one little caveat, for anyone else who needs to use this. I had to change the line that sets the Content-Type header to use a semicolon instead of a comma. After this change, the resulting HTTP request is identical to the one generated by WebKit for form submission.

How to check the properties or the source file or the HTML coding of any particular link on the web page?

Earlier when I wanted to see the HTML coding of any link on the web page, I was able to see it but now I am not able to do that. Like earlier I used to right click on the link and there was an option of "View Properties" through which I was able to view it but now no such option is coming. Can you please help me out with this as I am facing many Problems?

content has been added. So it's either dynamic pages with
content in a
database, or static pages but with hooks in the code for the
cms.

has no effect.

you would have to iterate through the elements of the HTMLDocument in the JEditorPane and look for the HTML tags you are interested in. Once a tag is found its AttributeSet will have the content. I am too lazy to post how it is done again. There are tons of postings in the forum about the topic, so by simply using the search function you should find respective hints.

Scrollbar is missing when I try to edit web pages on Website Tonight

When I try to edit a web page on the website designer, Website Tonight, the scroll bars that allow me to move around the page are missing. I have no way of accessing the the parts of the page that do not show in the window after it loads.

Maybe the site has CSS code that hides the scroll bars (overflow: hidden).
Did you check the CSS code for the presence of such a property?

Problem Viewing HTML coded website in design view

Hello,
I've got a functional website I coded (using an html text editor) for a customer some time back that he wants to be able to edit. He doesn't know code, so we got Dreamweaver.
The problem is, a lot of page elements simply won't show up in the Design view (though they do when viewed in a browser). I suspect it may have something to do with older nested Table tags I used, but neither of us is very interested in me rebuilding the site from scratch (which is largely what we were trying to avoid).
The extra odd thing, though, is a lot of the code in question DOES display on the index page, but not on secondary pages, even though it was copy/pasted in the first place.
The website in question is http://ckski.com. The index page shows up fine. (http://ckski.com/Pictures/GoodPage.jpg) On secondary pages, the only thing that shows up in the Design view is the banner image at the top of the page. I get a gridline for the main table structure, but no content (only some errors indicating some extra </td> and </tr> closing tags) (http://ckski.com/Pictures/BadPage.jpg)
View Source should work to check the code, but I can provide anything else that might be needed, such as the CSS page.

Code errors are responsible for 98% of rendering problems. Your pages lack a valid doc type declaration which puts them into quirks mode.
On line #1 in code view, change this:
     <html>
to this:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>
At least that will give you a fighting chance of validating without errors. Use the online code validator below to check for other errors in all your site pages.

Incidentally, asking a non-coder to use Dreamweaver is form of punishment.   Basic coding skills are necessary to get the most out of this product.   Anything less is going to result in frustration and confusion.
It's worth noting that DW is NOT a WYSIWYG editor. Design View is at best, an approximation of what you can expect to see in some browsers. For best results, use Live View in Split View and edit the code.

How do I create a full 100% flash website with no html coding???

Basically I use this code in 1st frame of movie:
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
Stage.align = "TM";
Then in publish settings i set the width and height to 100%.
This forces the swf to scale to
whatever browser size yet the code on frame 1 does not allow
the stage contents to scale.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.

HTML coding in EMOD

Three questions:
1. Is there an issue with having too much code in EMOD? for the past two days, I've put code in, it shows up in the preview but when I save, it disappears. I put in a help ticket but haven't hear back.
2. Does EMOD not support map html code? I have a jpg in the body of the email that I'd like a specific URL to be assigned depending on where they click on the jpg.
3. On my accounts I have a record for the logo (a URL to the hosting library) and the website. I try to insert those two fields and they don't pull in properly. The image comes up blank (I put the logo field in the image source) and the website as an href in the coding...
I'd appreciate any help, I'm getting quite frustrated!

I think I worded #3 wrong. There are two fields I have on every account. The first is a logo field which contains the link to the specific dealer logo for that account. The link ties to the hosting image library in EMOD. Based on that field, I want that specific jpg image to appear in the body of the email.
The second field is for the dealer website. I have an image in the body of the email that says click here to contact your dealer. I want the website listed on the record to appear on that image based on the information in the account record.
Does that make sense and/or are they possible?

Tips for Changing Flash Website to HTML / Dreamweaver

I am going to be taking over the management of a website that was designed entirely in Flash. There really is no need for the entire website to be entirely in Flash - it is confusing to navigate and most of the content would be so much easier to update and maintain if it were saved in html. I want to keep two flash effects - one is the splash page and the other is gallery where a grid of photos flips up like cards and you can click the individual photos for a link to a specifications page.
So, my question. Is there an easy way to transition the site from flash only into html / dreamweaver? I think I already know the answer to this - "NO" - I'm going to have to redesign the site in dreamweaver and just insert the two flash elements I want to keep, but if anybody has any tips or tricks that would be FANTASTIC! Thanks.

The problem with FLASH sites is that they speak a different language - Action Script instead of HTML. While some Flashy effects can be emulated with DHTML (JavaScript, JQuery etc...) it's not always possible to achieve the exact same feel without FLASH. Everything depends on how Flash-centric the original site is and how much your client/boss is willing to toss out in favor of a more web accessible, search engine / user friendly / standards compliant website.
Incidentally, SPLASH pages are a complete waste of prime URL real estate. You don't want a Flash or image only SPLASH intro page on your ALL IMPORTANT domain name default page. If anything, you need to rebuild home page in HTML with plenty of keyword rich content for search engines and people to grab onto.
For more meaningful suggestions, please post a URL to the live site? It will be interesting to see how it ranks on Google and other SEs.

HTML Coding issues with Firefox

Hi!
Im currently doing a website for one of my clients, but ive stumbled upon a problem Im hoping you guys help me solve.
The website im creating is being done from scratch in semantic html for html5 and css3 validation. Sizes of all boxes are being stablished in "em" (16px=1em) as it´ll be a responsive website. The width for my website is of 1060px or 66.25em, in other browsers i see it working ok (Chrome, IE), but in Firefox when the value is stated in "em", all boxes appear to be smaller, like 5% or 8% total. When I replace the value to the one in pixels it displays them still smaller but now moved to the left, like 5% or 8% to the left.
I'm not using any type of kits for this website as it is being done from zero to accomodate our customer's needs.
My question regarding that is to know if the "em" value has been modified in recent versions of the browser or if I need some type of mozkit to have the values recognized as they should in standard sizes.

I know, it's been really odd. Whenever I'm creating a site I always take into account how it behaves in Firefox since Chrome and IE let too many things go unnoticed or let them pass without a single error in the console.
Funny thing is this is a first Ive encountered, and my browser had just updated itself to the version 24, so I thought maybe they changed something in it that may be conflicting with my site. In my desperation (the deadline for the site), Ive tried many things and the last one I thought might work was changing the percentage; but i recalled a problem I had several months ago with another site where Firefox and IE respected the margin: 0 and padding: 0 but Chrome kept getting heritage from somewhere we couldnt pinpoint since there were no errors but everything was scrambled.
It was a site we were asked to update, so it wasnt ours from the beginning, hence the difficulty pinpointing the heritage but no consoles showed it. Finally someone thought of changing the percentage of the parent one and it solved it, to be honest with you I still dont know what happened to tht one, but I thought maybe it could apply in this scenario, apparently it did.
