Gone divided into 2 GB partitions when exported

Hi, I am a new guy here.
The subject says it all.
When I export a SELF CONTAINED .mov either to internal or external HD, it becomes divided into partitions, 2 GB "long". First comes the "Mother" part, "name.mov" and then, if the stuff is larger than 2 GB, other part(s) follow, named as "name-av.mov1" and so on... Besides, those files bear an FCP icon. For some reason... Not QT icons any more...
The "Mother" part works as a whole movie, so it is supposed to be OK but... It embarasses me, especially taking into account the fact that both FCP 5 and 6, when operated only for a few weeks after install, used to export movies in ONE convenient file, no matter the size. And those files were ordinary QT "iconed" files.
I swear, no adjustments whatsoever were made in various FCP setups regarding the EXPORT options.

I have checked Limit Capture/Export File Segment Size to 20 GB and will try to export a movie to see what happens.

so why then my system and HD rpm were allright before? Nothing has very much changed in my mac, you know...
Anyway, I will let you know if checking Limit Capture/Export File Segment Size to 20 GB cures out the mysterious self-setting-settings.

    The DPI setting in a digital image has no meaning at all. You need to learn how to calculate what you need in your exported image. The only measurement in a digital image that has any meaning is the number of pixels in each direction. It doesn't matter what you set that DPI to (actually it's PPI or pixels per inch). The image will have the same number of pixels regardless of the setting. If you need an image that is 5 x 7" (for example) at 200 PPI then you would want an image that measured:
    5 x 200 = 1000 pixels
    7 x 200 = 1400 pixels
    So you would need an image that is 1000 x 1400 pixels to have a 5 x 7" image at 200 PPI. The reason your exported image had such a high PPI setting is because you specified the number of inches you wanted the image to be. And there were enough pixels in the image that it calculated out to be that high PPI setting.
    I apologize, I don't explain this very well. But you need to learn to do the math to determine how large you really want your exported images to be.

    I've been doing quite a bit of research on how to make an object into a hyperlink when exporting my .ai as .pdf.
    So far I've come across guides that show the method of using Object > Slice and the Attributes' Image Map, but none of them seem to work when I open my exported .pdf.
    How do you guys create objects with links when exporting .pdf?

    InDesign, most probably.
    Or create the PDF in Illustrator and use Acrobat (Pro) afterwards to make links.
    Depends on what's inside the document.

  • Images downsized and converted when exporting to PDF

    I have Pagemaker 7.0.1 installed on Virtual XP so that I can help out a family member.
    Pagemaker's embedded Acrobat 4 was not working properly so I installed my Acrobat 9.0 on Virtual XP. This unfortunately has not solved the problem, which is:
    My images are greyscale and 300 ppi when imported into Pagemaker. When exported to PDF using Acrobat 9.0, the images are being converted to CMYK and exported at about 50% of the actual size. Interestingly, those images that are only at 200 ppi are converted but not downsampled.
    This is happening no matter how I fiddle with the settings. Happens to both jpegs and tiffs.
    I found an old thread on another forum where this problem occurred but a solution was not found or posted.
    Any ideas?

    This reply is a series of comments and suggestions rather than a definitive answer.
    1. Your set up is less than perfect, if not unstable, and will be prone to all sorts of bizarre behaviours.
    2. Never copy/paste a graphic or table into PageMaker.  Always use the Place command. The only "exception" would be that you can copy and paste a properly Placed graphic from within your PageMaker document.
    When placing images in a PageMaker file, the following message appears: “The graphic in the linked file would occupy xxxxxxx bytes in the publication. Include the complete copy in the publication anyway?” The correct answer to this question is always "NO".
    (You can permanently avoid this popup in future docs by unchecking "store copy in publication" under Element -> Link Options with no publication open. You can do the same to avoid further prompts in pre-existing documents.)
    3. Try updating PM to Ver 7.0.1a which had a better Export… AdobePDF…macro. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=34&platform=Windows 
    4. In PageMaker’s Print dialogue, click on the Options button, and check "Write PostScript to File." Select the "Normal" radio button. Set both Type 1 and TrueType fonts to download. As always, set the Send TIF/Images option to Normal and NOT Optimized. Make other settings elsewhere in the print dialog as desired, such as "paper" size, crop marks, separations, etc.
    5. With your non-standard setup, try the two stage print then distill process. Create a PS file using a postscript printer file, then load Distiller and convert the PS file to PDF.  Note: if you have hyperlinks in your PMD file, they will not appear in your PDF and need to be re-created using Acrobat.
    6. It's time to leave PM and move on to InDesign - see it as PM Ver 13.

    I use Week Cal on the iPod.  I think it was only $1.99.  It is a lot better and does a lot more than the one that came with the Palm Pilot.
    As you know, unlike the Palm Pilot, the iPod does not come with a desktop application that you can sync your iPod calendar to.  Since I don't use Outlook, I have to use a Cloud based calendar to sync with my PC.  I use Hotmail's calendar for that.  (If your computer is a MAC, you can use iCal)

    half_quarters generates the start dates of every half of a quarter, starting with the begin of the first quarter that contains the sample date.
    The next step is to order the dates and to select only those after the sample date.
    The last part formats the output and orders the data.

When using JPEG-pictures directly from the camera there are no problems, so the manipulation in Lightroom seem to cause corrupt files. Does anyone recognize tje problem and could it have anything to do with the introduction of the Yosemite software? Is Lightroom already Yosemite-proof?

    In iPhoto 11 the Originals folder is renamed Masters.
    IPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback and report the bug.

    For example if you are in SQL Plus you can use the BREAK command.

  • Vertical dividing of a page to two pages when exporting to .pdf

    This is the issue : we are having several columns in the report, let's say they are 8, and several pages, let them be 4 and all this on landskape page. The thing we want is when exporting the report to .pdf file to have firstly the 1st page with the first 4 columns, then the first page with the other 4 columns and thus we need the other 3 pages to be exported one after another, not the first 4 columns on the 4 pages and then the next 4 columns on the 4 pages. Is it possible to be done this way? Do you guys have any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance!

    One way would be to use a subreport for the first page placed in the Page header, then format for the following pages in the main report sections.

  • Adobe Crashes upon adjusting Audio Gain and when exporting

    First a bit about the systems in question
    I have four identical edit bays. Each has a Dual Core 2.5 Ghz Pentium processor, 3.0 gbs of ram, a single sata drive split into two partitions (system 30 gb and video 470 gb). I am running up to date PPro 5.0.2, freshly installed on virgin drives. I was running Avsynth and FFdshow as a way to be able to import my old MJPEG footage, but thanks to Colin Brougham, I have that particular demon slain (and I am removing those two programs).I have two of the bays with the most up to date 64 bit manufacturer video and audio drivers, and two bays with Windows 7 automatically installed video and audio drivers. The problem is the same in all four bays.
    We dump in one of two ways: either a direct DV dump via firewire or downloading .MXF files from our Panasonic P2 cameras via USB (can't seem to get the firewire PC dump to work correctly). The project settings I am using are DV-NTSC - Standard 48 Khz, with a slight change of requiring upper fields first (we're using a Maxx500 playout server, and it requires upper fields first). We have been experiencing intermittent crashes for a week and a half, but in the last few days they have picked up (no new updates applied, so its not that). I have two culprits:
    One is an error code that thanks to this thread I know is related to the audio gain. My problem is that I have done everything I can think of and still no luck. It's been crashing with such regularity that my reporters are saving every few minutes, and I have the auto save set to 5 minutes. Today I had to reinstall this bay because it was crashing every time audio gain was adjusted.
    My other problem relates to export. I use the MainConcept MPEG Encoder to output mpegs for the playout server, and about every fourth or fifth time the program will crash on export. Its not a pain to recover from, since at that point the reporters have saved and merely have to reopen and reset up the export, but it is happening far to regularly. Event Viewer references windows/system32/ntdll.dll as the faulting module. Again, I am having this error on two different bays, one with manufacturer drivers and one with Windows 7 installed drivers.
    I know that despite my efforts I've probably not given enough info, so let me know what you need.

    That's correct. Avoid FW offloading on a PC; in fact, while it used to be the way to interface a P2 camera with a Mac, it's all USB there now, as well. Stick with USB, and you'll be fine. (I know this wasn't the gist of your thread, but I thought I'd shine a little light on that.)

    This is known/acknowledged/as-yet-unsquashed bug, assuming that you're remapping your MXF audio channels from the two mono channels that are originally produced by the camera to a single stereo channel.  You may be doing this manually, in the bin, or you might have a preference set to do this automatically on import (Edit > Preferences > Audio > Source Channel Mapping; if it's set to Stereo, try setting it to Use File). This bug only seems to rear its head when the mono channels of an MXF clip are remapped to stereo; if they remain as mono, you can use the Audio Gain command successfully.
    If, however, your audio channels aren't stereo, post back; there might be something else going on.

    When you say "MainConcept MPEG Encoder," are you referring to the MPEG2 encoder that is part of Premiere/AME, or are you referring to some sort of add-on encoder?

  • Reports output delayed when exported to Excel using OLE2

    Platform - Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 10.1.2.3 on Windows 32 bit.
    The report output is getting generated in a minute when exported to PDF i.e destype=cache & desformat=pdf. When we generate the output to excel is considerably delayed. It is taking time and internal server error is occuring.
    1) Report developed with simple query
    2) Used RPT2XLS procedure which uses OLE2 builtin to export report output into excel.
    3) Called RPT2XLS.run procedure in After-Report trigger of the report.
    4) We have relased all memory objects in the RPT2XLS package after exporting data and there is no EXCEL.exe running once the file is generated.
    System parameters used in the URL.
    . destype=file
    desformat=pdf
    CONTAINSOLE=yes (Required for exporting OLE2 objects into Excel in report)
    desname=path & name of the file.
    I have gone through the tuning documents for reports server and increased minengine, maxengine and initengine parameters of the reports engine and also changed maxconnect and IdleTimeout parameters in reports server configuration file.
    What might be the reason for delaying in the output of the reports when exported to Excel. Can the guys with special knowledge on this area help us in getting out of this issue.

    its like [space Target Value] and i dont need this Space.

  • InDesign CS5 crashing when exporting to PDF - large image?

    Hi can anyone help?
    I'm working with some rather large files in InDesign - it's a layout for a vinyl banner. It contains one image, created at 1/2 size @ 600dpi - 1500 mm x 850 mm. The file size generating is 1.25GB. I can't save in any format other than tif, psb, raw. I've gone with tif.
    So, I've placed the image above into my document and need to send to the printers to do a resolution test. Unfortunately, when exporting to a high quality PDF, it hangs and InDesign crashes.
    I know the image is probably the cause of the issue, but really not sure what I can do about that?

    Thanks for the reply - and yes, I thought the ppi was too high as well HOWEVER thats the specs advised by the production house. I've managed to get the file to export using a ppi of 500 - so it will print at 250ppi full size - which i think is ok, anything above that and my machine just doesn't want to play.
    I will try and use the zip compression and see what they results in. Unfortunately, becuase of the size and ppi, I'm only given the 3 file format options to save in as above.
    I've explained the situation to my production house and am awaiting their reply. These banners, although will possibly be seen up close, won't in no way be viewed at arms length.

  • Stops rendering to media until I restart the program - when exporting to H.264

    When exporting to media, sequences in Premiere Pro CS6 sometime just stop rendering to media (with no error warning)...until I restart the program. Other times the same sequence will report an "error" for "unknown" causes. This generally happens on a 2 pass variable export rendering to H.264.... but almost never on a CBR renderings. It is almost always solved with restarting Premiere.
    I'm not sure if this is related, but I just built a new system with a terabyte solid state drive and reinstalled CS6 when it seems that these errors began. The preview renderings are being saved to a partition on this drive, but the export renderings go to a different normal spinning Sata drive.
    Any suggestions?

    Others have reported the same thing, and I saw it happen once but can't tell what combination of factors is causing the encoder library to fault. Queuing the sequence into AME doesn't seem to help, nor does rendering with previews.
    The 'workaround' is to export from Premiere in another, high-quality format (e.g. Cineform AVI) then use Media Encoder to convert to H.264. I can't make it crash in standalone mode, even with VBR2.

  • Copying data into a partitioned table

    We have a bunch of data tables that we are partitioning to improve performance. I am trying to find the best way to copy the data from the old tables into the partitioned ones.
    For example, one take has about 45million rows. Performing a query on the entire table (one column is a timestamp) between two times takes about 6 minutes. I tried to do:
    INSERT INTO NEWTABLE (SELECT * FROM OLDTABLE)
    But its taking ages and when I checked on the progress in Enterprise Management Console I saw that it was performing a full table scan and ended up taking over 45 minutes! We have 2 more tables of this size and 2 others that are 5 times as large, so if I can make this go faster it would be brilliant!
    I'm pretty sure that exporting the old table using 'exp' and then importing into the new partitioned table using 'imp' will not respect the partitioning?
    So can anyone think of a quicker method that this?
