Goods Receipt at Moving Average price instead of PO price

We are finding a scenario where in goods receipt is getting booked at Moving average price instead of PO price.
The material is defined with price control indicator as V like any other material. The issue is identifed for a specific material only.
Can any one tell the reason for this?
Regards,
Som

Here are responses against your queries
1. does your PO have an account assignment? - No. This is a Material PO
2. Was the invoice posed in advance to the goods receipt? - No. In fact invoices are still to be posted. However, there is an advance payment to the vendor. Not sure if this has anything to do?

  • Return Delivery Goods Receipt amount takes current MAP instead of old MAP

    Hi,
I'm facing a problem in the following scenario:
    1. Sales order is created
    2. Delivery is created
    3. Goods Issue for the Delivery is posted (cost of goods sold = current moving average price of material = 100 SEK)
    4. Invoice is created
Event: Moving average price of material is increased with 100 % (Moving average price changed from 100 SEK to 200 SEK)
Event: Customer returns the order for some reason
    5. Return order is created with reference to the invoice in step 4 (same amount the invoice)
    6. Return delivery is created
    7. Credit note is created (same amount as the invoice)
    8. Goods Receipt for the Returns delivery is posted (cost of goods sold = current moving average price of material = 200 SEK)
Result: The financial bookings after the Goods Receipt will use the new moving average price and the stock value will increase with 200 SEK, even though the initial stock deduction was only 100 SEK to delivery the material to the customer.
Problem: We have now created 100 SEK worth of stock --> This is not allowed
Question: How can I manipulate the goods receipt amount to use the old moving average price of 100 SEK instead of 200 SEK?
    Thanks for your suggestions!

  • PO with FREE of charge position - goods receipt change the average price

    Hi Experts,
in our SAP system we have a special situation concerning the PO with free of charge (FOC) items.
We set the flag "Free" in the PO position for all FOC items. When we book the good receipt for these FOC items SAP creates no accounting document and the average price is changing.
for example: 1 pce is on stock with the value 100; we receive 1 pce for FOC
    new average price: (100 + 0) / (1 + 1) = 50
this is a big problem for us.
for us - the goods receipt for the FOC articles must be with the actual average price (table MBEW) similar to a return goods booking in the SD Module - movement type 653 !
this means for our example: 1 pce is on stock with the value 100; we receive 1 pce for FOC
    new average price: (100 + 100 (acutal average price)) / (1 + 1) = 100
I read a lot of OSS notes and many entries in the forums and I think many other companies have the same problem.
is there any solution possibility to do that in this way?
    thank you for your help
    Peter Lechner

it is logical that the moving average price changes.  if you dont want that, then you either have to have an extra material master for your free of charge stock, or you need to implement split valuation and can then have batches that are not valuated.
But if you have 10 on hand with a value of 20 $, then the moving average is 2$
if you then get another 10 free of charge, then you have 20 on hand with total value of 20$, which just means 20$ div by 20 quantity = 1 $ MAP.
if SAP would not change the MAP in that moment, then the goods receipt is valuated with the current MAP and the total value of your stock increases to 40. but this is then not a free of charge case.

  • Using gross price instead of net price at Quotation

    Hi,
I'm working at a company that just bought SAP ERP ECC 6.0. Our consultants told us that SAP only works with Net price in MM. It sounds a little bit weird for us, because here in Brazil we usually use Gross price in all our transactions.
Here in Brazil we have some taxes that are included in gross price and it's a hard work ask the final user to calculate the taxes out of SAP and input net Price in the system.
I read a little bit some documentation provided by SAP at Internet called SAP Library and I found an article titled:Entering a Quotation Against an RFQ
In this article says the following: " You enter the net price per unit in the Net price field. This price includes the vendor's normal discounts and surcharges only. Cash discounts (for prompt payment) and taxes (e.g. value-added tax) are calculated separately.
You enter the gross price in the Net price field, and maintain the conditions for the item. Then the system automatically replaces the entered gross price with the calculated net price (see Maintaining Conditions)."
As we can see, there are two ways to input the price. Gross price and Net price. I'd like to know if is there the possibility to configure the "mentioned conditions" for a group material and at the moment I type the gross price in Quotation the system automatically calculate the net price?
Our consultant told us that this procedure should be done for each item in quotation, in my opinion I guess that SAP can link the applicable taxes for the material based on its group material. If something like that is possible, our daily work will be simplified so much because the system will know the taxes that should be discounted for the material and calculate automatically the net price.
If this possibility exists, could you please tell me in technique terms (transactions) that should be set?
Another question is about Taxable Income, is there any place in SAP where I can configure the Taxable Income for a material or group material for the taxes set at "mentioned conditions"?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sorry about my English.
    Best Regards,
    Amorim, Rodrigo.

What you need is a new pricing procedure design to fit your requirements. The standard pricing procedure allows you to enter the net price. Then the gross price is calculated after taking into account the discounts, taxes etc. These discounts and taxes can be designed to determined automatically through material group also. So to achieve your requirement the pricing procedure has to be changed accordingly to calculate the net price from gross price entered. While this can be done, but all other impacts on pricing reports and accounting document posting with correce valuation price etc. have to be tested in detail.

    Dear Experts,
My client needs all finished goods are to be valuated at Price Control of <b>V</b> and it has to update the price in the material master when the production order is confirmed for finished goods on a real time basis.
Is there any configuration for this upart from changing the valuation type from S to V in the Material Master.
Please help on this.   It is very urgent and I will be grateful for all of you.

    Hi Sam,
Kindly  Check table T156SC entries there is a entry missing in the table.
And if required so kindly Maintain the missing entries in table.
If entries of movement type 101 are prefect then
    Goto Transaction  -- SE37 ,

  • Goods Receipt Amount based on PO price instead of moveing average price

Is it possible to customise SAP so that the amount in Goods Receipt transactions is calculated based on quantity * PO price instead of quantity * moving average price?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply.
    Standard SAP functionality:
    1. When material ledger is active, the GR amount is based on pre-GR moving average price.
    2. When material ledger is not active, the GR amount is based on PO price.
We use the material ledger but want the GR transactions to record the amount based on PO price.
    Any suggestions?

  • Updation of Moving Average Price

    Dear Experts,
My MM period is open for 2 months (i.e for July and August Now) . One of our raw material is Limestone.
From July 1st there were several Receipts and Issues of limestone in SAP.
In August 9th our survey team found that in our stock we have 25000 TON limestone excess. (Due to Callibiration error)
i.e If the current stock in system was 10000  TON the real Physical stock in storage was 10000 + 25000 TON.
We have created a Free of Cost PO for 25000 TON to account the excess quantity of Limestone in Stock.
MIGO Goods Receipt for the Free of Cost PO was done on 31.07.2011.
Because of the extra 25000 TON Free of Cost Limestone Receipt the Moving Average Price of the Material got Updated. (But only from 09-August-2011 not from 31-July-2011)
I want system to calculate the new moving average price and update all the documents posted from 31-July-2011. MY MM period is not closed.
Is it possible to do so and how. Please Help.
    Thanks

    Hi
The physical inventory is carried out on the basis of stock management units.A stock management unit is a non-divisible part of a stock of materials for which a seperate book inventory exists.A stock management unit is uniquely defined by
    Material
    Plant,storage location
    Stock type
    Batch
    Special Stock
Each stock management unit of a material is counted seperately, and the inventory diffreneces are posted per stock management unit.
The physical inventory process comprises three phases
    1)Creation of physical inventory documents(MI01)
    2)Entry of Count(MI04)
    3)Posting the difference(MI07)
1)In the first phase ,you create the physical inventory documents.SAP systems provide several procedures for mass-generation of PI documents. After selecting the stocks to be counted and creating the PI documents, you print out the documents in order to start the counting process.A physical inventory document cotains data that include
    >The plant and storage location in which the count has to take place
    >The date on which the count has to take place
    >The materials to be counted
    >the stock types to be counted
    >The status of the item
    >The status of the PI document
When creating a PI document, you can specify a physical inventory nuber in the document header. This physical inventory number facilitates selection of the PI documents to be processed during entry of the count data, posting the diffrences, and in evaluations.
2)Entering the physical inventory count:For the physical inventory count, you must print out the PI document and forward it to persons responsible for the count. You can enter the stock figures in the system with and without reference to a PI document. When entering the physical inventory count, you can enter a percentage variance of the count quantity from the book inventory, above which the system issues a warning message.
3)You can post the inventory diffrences either via list of differences or via seperate transactions. When an inventory difference is posted, the system creates a material document and corrects the stock figures, and an accounting document recording the necessary accounting movements.
Hope this will be helpful for you.

  • Moving average price calculation logic of material with Price Control "S"

    Dear Gurus,
As you know that there is a Moving price and standard price icon in the material master.
I want to understand the calculation logic of the moving average price of the materials having price control "S"
How the system calculates the MAP for standard price materials? The receipt from the process order I suppose is valuated at the process order cost after settlement, but if the issue has hapened for the material does the system recalculate the issue price also?
Below is the sample process order receipt and issue scenario:
    Receipt from process order 161000000223
300 kg and GR at standard cost value is Rs 5892
    Issue to process order 162000000294
250 kg and GI at standard cost value is Rs 4910.
Thus the balance at period end is 50 kg and balance at standard cost value is Rs 982.
Here in process order 161000000223 the actual cost is 10 Rs. Then how will the system calculate the MAP?
    Thanking You,
    Amit Dhanurdhari

    Hi
    Try the following calculations,
One of them will work depending upon your version and support pack
Expected MAP calculation ( As with price control V)
    = ((Qty before transaction*MAP + Transaction Qty * transaction
    Price)) / quantity after transaction
New Method ( when price control is S)
= Old MAP + (Price Variance w.r.t Standard Price/Qty after transaction)

  • Product Costing using Moving Average Price of FERT & HALB

    Dear Experts,
My client wants to use Product Costing functionality by using Moving Average Price instead of Standard Price on Finished Goods & Semi Finished Goods and as per my understanding, SAP recommends to use Standard Price on FERT &  HALB.
I know if we use moving average price instead of standard price than there will be no concept of variances. Can anyone tell me more about what are the pros and cons of using moving average price instead of standard price in Product Costing?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Zain Bashir

    Hi Zain
    Let's take an example
You have V for Mat A
You create 3 Prod orders in a month
    Order 1 - Qty 10 - variance 100
Same for Order 2 and 3..
At month end, you sold 20 pieces and 10 is in stock..
When you settle order 1, system will compare order qty and stock.. It will match I.e. 10 = 10... Hence variance of 100 will be posted on stock
Same will happen for Order 2 and 3... Ideally, only 100 should have posted on stock... but in this case 300 of variance will be posted on stock...
This is what the note mentioned by Arturo tells, but not so clearly
    Hope this helps

  • Updating the Moving Average Price

We want to adjust the price of a material to account for storage overhead by adding 10% to the price. We have found procedures to modify the price if the price control is standard, but none for moving average prices.
As I understand it, the moving average price is re-calculated for a material every time stock is received and the new value is stored in table MBEW (VERPR). We’ve pretty well determined that we don’t want this to change. Rather, it seems best to simply add 10% at goods issue time (and do a split valuation for the account assignment).
I’ve examined transaction MIGO for user exits and found a couple that look promising: EXIT_SAPM07DR_001 (Customer Function Exit: Material Document Item for GR/GI Doc) and EXIT_SAPM07DR_002 (Customer Function Exit: Acct Assgmt for Multiple Acct Assgmt). I didn’t find any BADIs.
Has anybody used these exits for this purpose? Are there other exits or BADIs that would be more appropriate? Does it make sense to change the price this way at all?
    Thanks
    Rob
Well, I got about the response I expected. I'll close it in a couple of days if no one has any ideas.

    Hi Rob!
I found this thread again and started reading a little bit.
    I can't follow your problem.
When you have PO and vendor invoice, then we should talk about goods <b>receipt</b>. Then it's quite usual to add additional values (like freight costs, taxes, customs...), which are not part of vendor invoice, but can be part of goods receipt value (depends on statistic flag).
When you have goods <b>issue</b>, then you have internal movement (to a different company code) or sales process. Then you should not increase goods value above moving average price - otherwise goods receipt of 100 PC and goods issue of same 100 PC won't end up with 0 value. Your revenue (for storage costs, handling fees, packing material...) can be added in an invoice for the sold goods - but that's not part of VPRS (stock value).
The question, if you display something in an outgoing invoice is just related to printing - internal documents can be larger.
Also selling based on saved conditions (not based on VPRS + surcharge) is an option -> free defined surcharge, no possibility for outsiders (personal in warehouse) to follow up the mark-up.
But I guess, your thinking about extension of an existing process: you might have already an unusual starting point for process design.
Work-around? Yes, I've heard of customers, where end-of-year balance is 'tuned' in excel before presentation to officials. There are many ways to solve a problem

    Christian

  • Moving average price calculation based on year to date figures

    Hello,
I've been working for months on the stock valuation at month end closing for the Finance department. We discover a situation where the moving average price is not calculated as we expected.
    The situation is as follows:
2 purchase orders for the same material at different periods and with different purchase order prices
the invoice of the first pruchase order has been recorded after the good receipts of the 2 purchase orders with purchase price variance, good issues have been recorded between the good receipts and the first invoice receipt, therefore the stock quantity is lower than the quantity invoiced
the invoice of the second purchase order has been recorded as well with price purchase variance after the first invoice and after good issues, therefore the stock quantity is lower than the quantity invoiced.

    - When the second inoice is recorded, SAP should calculate the MAP this way: (2000*11+10000*9,5+20000*7)/(2000+10000+20000) = 8,03
Could you tell me if you know how to set up the calculation based on this formula (Intial stock value at MAP + Year to date Purchasing value) divided by (intial stock quantity + quantity purchased)?
    Thank you in advance

    Arti,
MBEWH table will get you the MAP of a material monthwise,I guess you need to get the logic which will use those details to arrive on MAP for a paritcular date.

  • Price difference in goods receipt with ref of purchase order

    Dear all,
I am getting a difference in price with a goods receipt( movement type 101) which was created with reference to a purchase order. The purchase order price and G.R price are extremely different. I checked the inforecord..but price was not maintained in that.Price was entered manually in purchase order in conditions tab. can some one point out from where the price might have been calculated in Goods receipt.
    Regards,
    Edamanayil

    Hi,
If its a standard price in material master record...then it will pick price from material master record ...
otherwise it will pick PO's price if no valid info record exists.
It can also read last PO's price....depending upon the setting.

  • Good receipt price and cost

    Hi experts,
do you know what is the real unit price field used to calculate the value of the journal entry generated by the goods receipt ?
For now, we are using IGN1.Price, but now we think that it is IGN1.StockPrice. Do you confirm it ?
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards

    Hi Sebastien,
If you mention the column 'Item Cost' in the good receipt screen, yes the appropriate SQL table field is IGN1.StockPrice.

    Hi i have this question:
i have PP order to deliver. Material to deliver is Make to Order in particular for WbE, price control S.
It's the first time a deliver it in the sistem, so Qbew is clean.
I have calculate the standard cost for the material only with ck11n so at divisional level so only Mbew as the standard value that is 100.
My planned cost for the PP order are 110.
What i want to realize is to have a good receipt (MB31) at Mto stock evaluated at standard price 100 and not with planned value 110!!!
The process run as i want if the sistem has already a record in Qbew, but not when is clean!
    Thanks.

    hi, try to be clear.
I have MTO business scenario, but  i don't calculate standard cost with CKW1 but only with ck11n,a nd i released with ck24.
So,for istance, i have an article with:
control price S and  standard price released 100,and procurament type E, dependent requirement indicator= 1.
so i create an PP order to produce this article linked to a WbE, so i have an MTO order. After saving this ord and realising it, planned cost are valuated and for example are 110.
Then i confirm all activities... labor... picking... external... Mh etc...my total actual cost are 120.
Now i want to deliver this article to valuated stock, it's MTO so in my case i have the production order that is assigned to the account of the project.
So when i deliver it movement 101 Q , the stock of the WbE linked to PP order should increase of a standard value so i suppose 100, but this doesn't happend the stock increase of 110, the planned value. Infact after this in Qbew i have 1 quantity and 110 value stock!
How could i have an increase of standard price 100 of my stock instead of planned cost 110? so the next PP orders makes consumption at standard?
is it more clear now? i hope.
What i should do? Because in the case of cost planned is equal to cost standard released i have the luck and moviment to stock is done at hte right value but it's luck.
    Thanks!
