"google-analytics" virus?  Malware? Help!

When I'm online, I am unable to load certain sites (vimeo among others) or have difficulty loading some sites because "google-analytics" appears to slow things down. It also often opens a new window to "results.gugle.com" that redirects to another site (even though my pop-up blocker is on). I read elsewhere that the best solution was to restart and re-set my password for my router, but I have done that, and nothing has changed. Please help.

HI,
There are no Mac viruses and it's not malware. Repairing disk permissions, uninstalling then reinstalling Flash, using OpenDNS... and possibly removing you ad blocker
should make a difference.
Uninstall then reinstall the newest version of Flash.
Uninstall Flash
Install Flash 10.1
Now repair disk permissions...
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Also, from the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences, select the Security tab. Click Show Cookies. Delete the cookies related to the sites you have trouble accessing. Relaunch Safari.
You can avoid redirects by using Open DNS - Free/Basic
And your ad blocker may be causing incompatibility issues after updating to Safari 5. Check the vendor site for help to uninstall it. Relaunch Safari.

  • I have a Google redirect virus which redirects every hit I click on in every search engine, in every browser, to a completely unrelated website. No anti-virus software I've tried can get rid of it. Help.

''Locked due to age. If you still have a problem, please [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new start a new thread]''
Basically the Google redirect virus is caused by a trojan with rootkit capability, and so whenever I click on a link on Google, it redirects me to a completely unrelated site. I think I got it on there because of downloading pirated software (patches, cracks, keygens) to avoid paying: so stealing software didn't pay off :(
I know you guys aren't specialised in internet security, but can you help?

There seems to be more than one, possibly several malware objects that can cause Google search redirects in both Firefox and Explorer... some result in multiple infected files and are self- regenerating. I tried rootkit, gooredfix, tdskiller and every other tool I could download... several times I was certain it was gone but it always came back! If you want to kill this thing for good, combofix is the only thing that removes ALL of the infected elements. Combofix takes a long time to run (circa 30 min?) and requires some user input and also messes with your system settings a little but it is VERY thorough and it does work and best of all, it's free.

  • How do I remove google redirect virus??? I can't get onto any sites that will offer help - as they're all "redirected!!"

I've got a GOOGLE REDIRECT VIRUS, and am not able to enter any websites that will give removal information - as I'm being REDIRECTED! I need to know the name of the file to remove...and where/how!!! Any/ALL internet inquiries for assistance are....being redirected/hijacked. HELP.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == yesterday.

This malware is actually in your add-ons. Go to Tools in your browser and click Add-ons and see if there are any add-ons that you didn't install. Mine was called '''XUL Cache''' that added itself. I uninstalled it and the problem was gone but the addon can have different names.

  • Browser Virus Malware Adware etc.  HELP!

I have been trying for 3 days to kick this absurd problem off of my Macbook Pro.  It feels like I have a virus/malware/adware situation that is making me feel like I'm back on a PC (UGHHHHH).
    BEFORE THE PROBLEM:
I kept getting "scratchdisk" or "startup disk" is full notices so I could not download the new OS
I started searching the web for solutions
I started removing all unneeded files
I used Clean My Mac to remove unwanted/unneeded files
    I downloaded OS X 10.9.5
    THE PROBLEM:
The following things occur when I attempt to use any of the 3 browsers: Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox:
pop up windows appear ALL over the place
Pop up windows block my ability to use the intended web page
tabs automatically open for Wix, Mackeeper, Credit Check websites etc.  (It's infuriating!)
Sites I am attempting to use fail to respond
    ACTIONS TAKEN:
    run Clean My Mac (nada)
    delete all cookies (nada)
trash or uninstall any/all unknown apps/programs
    uninstall Google Chrome
    uninstall Firefox
    reset Safari
some terminal exercise from an Apple forum (did...nada)
    RESOLVE:
NOTHING seems to be working...I'm about to launch my computer out the window... HELP!?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
    A.
You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    B.
Remove "MacKeeper" as follows. First, back up all data.
"MacKeeper" is a scam with only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
If you have incompletely removed MacKeeper—for example, by dragging the application to the Trash and immediately emptying—then you'll have to reinstall it and start over.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button in the dialog that appears. All the other functional components of the software will be deleted. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
☞ Quit MacKeeper before dragging it to the Trash.
☞ Let MacKeeper delete its other components before you empty the Trash.
☞ Don't try to drag the MacKeeper Dock icon to the Trash.

  • Google Analytics worked when .mac, but not now its mobile me... help!

    Hi all,
My iWeb 08 publishes to my web space within my mobile me package. After the change to me from .mac, I stopped using my @mac e-mail address and have started using @me instead. Further following a few issues when updating web galleries I decided to delete my published web site from Apples servers and re-publish it to mobile me. This has all worked fine apart from my google analytics. I deleted the html code, set up a new web address within my google account and copied and pasted the code into a fresh html snippet within iWeb. Once published the whole site works apart from info being sent to google for my analytics. Is there something different I need to do to get it working again? We move house at the weekend and I'm not sure when we shall have broadband set back up - therefore I'd like to be able to get stats on my sites visitors when web access is back available.
    All help very much appreciated.

This may be the solution - will have to wait until tomorrow to see if it has worked - I found these:

  • Help iMac w/Lion. Virus/malware Safari can't shutdown. Got pop up saying I won a prize. Did not select OK. Have to force shutdown. On restart of Safari get same pop up. Locks up Safari. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PiCked up a virus/malware please help me get rid of it. While browsing with Safari got pop up saying I won a prize. Click OK to find out what I won. Did not click Ok, but cannot close Safari without using forced shutdown. Powering down computer and restarting then selecting Safari brings up same prize window. Just installed Trend Microsoftware for Mac. It's scanning now. Don't think it will work.
If I open another on same iMac everything seems ok.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I am also running Lion and had the same problem: a persistent popup on top of a half-opened Safari window saying that I had won a prize and should click OK to claim it.  If I forced Safari to quit, the same pages and popup menu would appear when I then reopened Safari.  From what I can tell, the problem results simply from the fact that Safari in Lion defaults to auto-reopening web pages that were open when Safari last quit, including those suspicious pages that may have prompted the user to force-quit Safari in the first place.  I solved the problem this way:
    (1)  After force-quitting Safari, I went to my user Library folder and found the Saved Application State folder within.  I then found the folder for Safari (com.apple.Safari.savedState), opened it and deleted its contents.  Now the next time I open Safari, there will be no pages to auto-reopen.
    (2)  Since this problem could happen again, I decided to disable the auto-reopen feature in Safari.  I did this by highlighting the "com.apple.Safari.savedState" file and choosing the File-->Get Info command, and then in the Get Info box, I turned on the Locked checkbox.  This prevents Safari from adding any files to this folder.
This solution has worked well for me, and it has the advantage of not requiring the user to reset Safari.  It also preserves Lion's auto-reopen feature for all other applications.
I need to give credit to David Pogue for the information I used to solve this problem.  He describes this procedure on page 169 of his book, Mac OSX Lion, the missing manual.

  • Do I have a virus/malware problem? Idiot needs help

Hello, Received an email from 'Royal Mail Global' saying that they had failed in delivering a package and to open the attached '.zip' file. Without thinking, I opened the file- it didn't launch anything. I realise this is incredibly stupid and I am mortified. However, I am now concerned that I have a virus, malware, etc. As I am a computer idiot: how do I check if a virus is on the system or a malware programme is stealing all my details? People say "you'll be ok, Mac's don't get virsus" but how do you know? I have encountered no issues, as yet.... I run OS X and have a mac mini. Please help- will be eternally grateful. Thank you in advance

    MacHagan wrote:

First of all, your Lion OS would have notified you if that was anything currently known to be dangerous. If it was malware it was almost certainly designed for Windows and of no consequence to OS X. If you are certain that the email is spam/junk/hoax then use the delete button in your e-mail client to get rid of it. Check the trash folder and delete it from there, if necessary. If this is a Gmail account, let me know as there may be one more step.
When you say you opended the file, I assume you used an open button or double-clicked the attachment symbol? And then it didn't launch anything, but it should have launch the Archive Utility to unzip the attachment. Did that not happen? Did you see anything after you "opened it"?
Even if it was unzipped, sitting in an attachment folder somewhere and is malware, it won't do anything at all until you attempt to open it. And as I said previously, it's almost certainly for Windows users, anyway.
If you followed the suggestion to use ClamXav (or any other A-V software), there are some special considerations regarding e-mail. Here are my standard cautions:
Never use ClamXav (or any other A-V software) to move (quarantine) or delete e-mail. It will corrupt the mailbox index which could cause loss of other e-mail and other issues with functions such as searching. It may also leave the original e-mail on your ISP's e-mail server and will be re-downloaded to your hard drive the next time you check for new mail.
So, if you choose to "Scan e-mail content for malware and phishing" in the General Preferences, make sure you do not elect to either Quarantine or Delete infected files.
When possibly infected e-mail files are found:
Right-click/Control-click on either the infection or file name in the ClamXav window.
Select "Reveal In Finder" from the pop-up menu.
When the window opens, double-click on the file to open the message in your e-mail client application.
Read the message and if you agree that it is junk/spam/phishing then use the e-mail client's delete button to delete it (this is especially important when the word "Heuristics" appears in the infection name).
If you disagree and choose to retain the message, return to ClamXav and choose "Exclude From Future Scans" from the pop-up menu.
If this is a g-mail account and those messages continue to show up after you have deleted them in the above manner, you may need to log in to webmail using your browser, go to the "All Mail" folder, find the message(s) and use the delete button there to permanently delete them from the server.
For instructions on how to handle any infections that do not involved e-mail, use the Help menu or go directly to this link Dealing with Infected Files.

  • Google-analytics hangs the program - help?

When browsing, some programs use google-analytics to collect data. when this happens the program just hangs.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • Google Analytics OPT-OUT Browser Add-on 0.9.6 doesn't retain OPT-OUT settings...never did really. Also JAVA now refuses to create updates for WinXP/FireFox.

I use PaleMoon now trying to get rid of advertising sharks. I have WINXP still - need assistive-technology computer for pain so taking time on getting new computer.
I have been severely sabotaged by advertising conglomerates selling my private information. They have no right -yet they do whatever they want. Anyhow...I've tried to OPT-OUT of EVERYTHING POSSIBLE. I've tried 5 places found. Google, NAI, DAA, & FIREFOX HELP said go to about:config was instructed to turn "from false to true" the "privacy.tracking.protection.enabled" .But I couldn't keep this setting because this also has to be set to false to use any saved log-on's to my accounts., and add-on AD BLOCK PLUS 2.6.7 when I was on Firefox & had some ticks and now it is disabled because it won't work with PaleMoon 25.2.1
This case is about GOOGLE OPT-OUT. Starting here: http://www.google.com/settings/ads?hl=en&sig=ACi0TCgWymel0CNWxdcnEWPzWNs9wDd7cVQHxHsmtz4w30CAyHk7MqyzzZdGh3m6FpDaJsKmunTLEvJZY5LAm3h6gIdzE30L-Q
There are 2 columns. The left one "ADS ON GOOGLE" NEVER RETAINS AFTER LOG-OFF. The right column "Google ads across the web
" seems to retain sometimes - if I remember right it falls off after a period of time as opposed to after just LOGGING-OFF. Below the columns there are options, but I don't have a GOOGLE ACCOUNT.
Also down there is this link: https://support.google.com/adsense/troubleshooter/1631343?hl=en ...you see the box with this: Advertising industry program participation
Google is a participating member of groups that have developed industry privacy standards like the Ad-Choices icon for online advertising.
    Group Location
    Network Advertising Initiative United States
Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) United States
    European Digital Advertising Alliance Europe
Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada Canada
....I clicked OPTED OUT FOR NAI on their link http://www.networkadvertising.org/
...I clicked OPTED OUT FOR DAA on their link http://www.aboutads.info/
...I clicked PROTECT MY CHOICES and downloaded the app.
These 1st 2 links used to have the same trouble and didn't retain ANYTHING and wouldn't re OPT-OUT ANY UNTIL THEY WERE SATIATED - saying I didn't have 3rd party cookies allowed when I did - this took hours.
I sent numerous trouble reports to them that they ignored - then I think I sent one to Firefox and it is much better but still not completely right. Today DAA retains 106 out of 122 and if I repeatedly RE-OPT-OUT successively I can get it to 121 out of 122 - never completely. (currently the one not taking is Accuen Inc. but it changes periodically - makes me think they set one up to take my info and then share it with all of them - lol )
Same for NAI currently I started with 94 out of 96 - next re-OPTED-OUT got it to 95 out of 96 and no further and same co. Accuen Inc (accuenmedia.com ) wouldn't update.
NOTE: I was copy/pasting the list of NON-OPT-OUT'S to them and my own document file to try and find trends/problems...now NAI programmers protected the list from being able to be COPIED AND PASTED!!! That's the opposite of being open and interested in making this work, right? Why would they want to allow us to OPT-OUT of their criminal espionage behavior...RIGHT? (lol) FYI: I recorded that the big one that was always retained before this one was...MEDIA MATH INC.
MANY Opt-outs would drop off while on-line and ALL would drop-off once logged-off. Now it's retaining most once logged off - but it hasn't been long enough to tell if they'll fall back into their bad habits as they've done before...
This has been going on forever for me - I've been reporting this malfunction since 2013.
Of course I downloaded PROTECT MY CHOICES FOR FIREFOX via NAI AND DAA'S links ...http://www.aboutads.info/PMC#protect-your-choices-for-firefox ............they both go to the same place???.....PROTECT MY CHOICES http://www.aboutads.info/plugin/install/firefox....that seems odd...it's as if they are the same entity then. ABOUTADS is DAA'S WEBSITE. NAI'S IS NETWORKADVERTISING.ORG so why would NAI use DAA'S PROTECT MY CHOICES app?
Lastely, I also requested that the COOKIES NAMES BE UNIFORMLY IDENTIFIABLE. All the OPT-OUT COOKIES that are to be forevermore retained on my computer and that I am to trust the EVERY FUNCTION OF - well they all have different COOKIE NAMES!! Most of the names you can not tell that they are OPT-OUT COOKIES!! - SO NOWWW They have created another problem.
We can no longer just "DELETE ALL COOKIES".
PLUS, we can no longer go through our cookies and delete individual ones that snuck through.
Every one of the OPT-OUT COOKIES SHOULD SAY "OPT-OUT" IWITHIN THEIR NAME OF THEIR COOKIE - PERIOD. RIGHT? (LOL) For real. Why was this mess was allowed?
REALLY IN MY OPINION THESE COMPANIES SHOULD BE BLOCKED AT THE LOCAL PHONE COMPANIES LEVEL - IN OUR SERVERS. We should not have to deal with them. Same thing with viruses, malware and such beasts. But I digress.
    In summary:
    1.)Google Analytics OPT-OUT Browser Add-on 0.9.6 doesn't retain OPT-OUT settings
2.) JAVA refuses to create updates for WinXP/FireFox/PaleMoon.
3.) DAA & NAI still don't retain ALL OPT-OUT settings and never completely OPT-OUT all companies.
4.) OPT-OUT cookies should be uniformly names with the words OPT-OUT in their titles.
5.) Ad Block Plus 25.6.7 doesn't work for Pale Moon and there is no alternative - (didn't work great in FireFox)
Right now I'm mainly interested in #1)retaining my GOOGLE OPT-OUTS while on line AND while logged off since it is attacking my computer and steeling all the speed until it freezes my keyboard.
Currently I am trying to remember to run through 3. OPT-OUTS every time I log on.
    Thanks so much!

  • How to remove the Google Redirect Virus on my gf's pc? Nothing seems to work!

    Hi Guys,
So I was trying to save my girlfriend's pc from this Google Redirect Virus (the one where you are redirected to some random commercial site when you click on a link in google), but I am having real trouble. Of course I want to solve this and be her hero, so could someone please give me some advice?
I've tried everything. The TDSS-killer, the changing of the host file, I've downloaded several anti-malware or spyware programmes, but nothing helps. I can recommend everybody with this problem to download the NoScript Add-On, so that at least you don't really go to the commercial website, but are redirected (after being redirected) back to google.
    This is what I know:
    - When I tried to solve something in MSConfig, I noticed that there where two weird programmes that started when I turned on her pc: the first is (the virus!) SetWallpaper.cmd. I can't seem to find this anywhere else on her pc and I do not know if it is connected, but I need to destroy it somehow. The second is some process called: 'fyhgylwg', and it's task is to 'rundll32 C:\User\GF'sName\Roaming\winsta8.dll, Clxeigube'. The reason this caught my attention is because the task isn't sent by Microsoft, but by 'Unkown' and I found it's name really weird.
    - No anti-virus programme seems to solve the problem
    - I haven't tried Combo-Fix yet, because I do not know the name of the file that is causing the problem
Please help me and my girlfriend out! What can we do?
    Boris

  • Google Redirect Virus Removal

So essentially, it seems that somehow my PC has picked up a version of the Google redirect virus. It is only affecting Firefox, and it seems to be a bit stealthier than previous versions. Essentially, 70% of the time I try and click on a search result (only the first one clicked per search), it will redirect me to a php script on a different server. It seems the script analyzes what I searched and attempts to redirect me to a phishing site that has related information about my search e.g. realgamerz.net and other shady URLs. I assumed it was a registry issue, but despite using all of the below virus/malware scanners nothing has been found. Is it possible one of my plugins has been compromised and that it has something to do with the Firefox software/Firefox plugins? Your advice is much appreciated.
    1) Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 Professional
    2) HijackThis
    3) SuperAntiSpyware
    4) Spybot S&D
If there are other recommended malware scanners you think I should try I would be happy to do so.

I also disabled printer helper and it totally worked! Thank you.

  • 'System Security' Malware help, please! Installed Verizon security suite, now it's back again.

We received the System Security malware on our computer.  We thought we removed it completely because initially the malware prevented the Verizon security suite from running.
After we deleted the virus and the program attached, we were able to install the Verizon Internet Security suite. Lo and behold, two hours later (after a successful complete scan) the malware was back with NO warning from Verizon Security Suite.
Can someone please tell me how to remove this malicious program and also why the security suite gave no warning before it re-attached itself to our computer?
Any help is greatly appreciated, as our laptop is heavily used and we do not have the money or the time to have it completely wiped clean.
    Thank you!!

its really dependant on what type of malware is installed.
if u can get the exact name of it ... it should be something like name.malware .. something like that
do a google for "remove name.malware " or whatever the name of it is, and chances are the first 3 responses will be how to remove it
keep in mind that ABSOLUTELY NO VIRUS PROTECTION ON EARTH EVER , can protect you from every single virus/malware ... things change too fast for everythign to keep up 100% of the time
... and by the way, i like turtles

  • AFP Virus / Malware - Your browser has been locked

    Hi
I'm still reasonably new to Macs and have a Virus / Malware I think.
It says AFP (Australian Federal Police) have locked your browser, etc
    google says its bogus.
    How do I remove it?
    I can't shut down that TAB/Safari window.
    Please Help

    Hi,
I guess it's from a Torrent then, but lesson learnt now.
So if no Virus, then it's Malware??
I'm running ClamXav right now to check - will that help or remove it?
I'll start reading those pages now and I've added that Ad Block, thank you very much for the help.
EDIT: I just did this, from another thread here that RE: FBI Malware
To prevent the loop from running and exiting the page
    Disable Javascript.
    Hit back in Safari.
    Enable Javascript.
Reset History and Top Sites as a precaution.
This resolved the problem, but I'm staying clear of torrents forever!!!
    Freaky stuff

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.
