Google Maps, no sound through Bluetooth

On my old Iphone 4S prior to IOS 7, I used Google Maps and got turn by turn directions through my car's speakers using Bluetooth. This is no longer the case.
Moving forward, I upgraded my Iphone to the new Iphone 6, (not the plus), and am now running IOS 8.1.3 and Google Maps version 4.2.47430, (The latest as of this post.) I still have do not get turn by turn directions with Google Maps and Bluetooth. The phone works and always has for phone calls through the car speakers via Bluetooth so I know I am connected. Why hasn't this been addressed? I was of the opinion that everything in the Apple Store is tested and works with my phone properly.
Thank you for any assistance you may provide.

I am having this problem with a Samsung (Google) Nexus S.
Using Spotify Premium. Occasional dropouts of about 1 second each. This is on downloaded playlists so not related to streaming and Bluetooth stops at end of a track. After playing for a while Bluetooth audio stops at the end of a track. Once it has stopped once turning bluetooth off and on will restart but usually only for a few tracks.
No problem at all with stock music App, DoubleTwist, Tunein Radio Pro or BBC iPlayer Radio.
Phone:  Samsung (Google) Nexus S.
OS:  Cyanogenmod 10.2.1-crespo (based on Android 4.3.1)
Spotify:  Android version 0.7.6.344
Device:  Parrot Mki9100 handsfree car kit
Bluetooth Stack:  Default for both devices. I don't know the version number.

  • E72 using Ovi Maps, no sound through BT Carkit Par...

Hi, I am using the latest FW (updated today) and when using Ovi Maps I hear no sound through the carkit. Is there a setting which I have to change?

I am guessing that latest firmware 52.005 for your E72 has a later version of OVI Maps pre-installed in device firmware than you were previously using. There has been a change in OVI Maps v3.04 in the way voice navigation is handled with HFP = Hands Free Profile being used for both voice and voice with streetnames, whereas earlier versions used A2DP = Advanced Audio Distribution Profile for text2speech (voice with street names) and HFP for standard voice navigation. If you were using English with street names it was probably using Music input on Parrot MKi900 which would explain why it is no longer working.

  • N8 - Ovi Maps & Routing Speech through Bluetooth

Is there any way to route the voice directions from Ovi Maps to bluetooth headphones?
I tried the other day, with music playing from my N8 through my bluetooth headphones the voice directions were still only coming out of the handset itself!
Not much use if I'm using the satnav whilst riding a bicycle! That was one really useful thing I found about my HTC Desire - it would send the directions via the bluetooth headphones if connected, even if music was playing! It would pause the music, say the directions, then start playing again! Sadly then the battery would die before I reached my destination

I've got the same problem... very very annoying ! Ovi maps is useless for my bluetooth crash helmet. How can it be so long to be fixe by Nokia ?
I have posted this before but here goes again:- There is a work-around, which is not exactly elegant but at least good enough to use for this safety- relevant feature.
Record a file with 2 mins of quiet/no sound/empty room etc. Save this to your music directory on the phone. Before using the ovi maps open the music player and set this to play the quiet.mp3 continously/repeat. THEN when connecting your blue-tooth device and using the maps you will get the sound directions. This works because idiotically the blue-tooth sound directions are only active when "music" is being played. Which normally is unusable/distracting. If the "music" is in fact at most a light backgroud "hiss..." then this is not so bad.
p.s. One can expect a bit more battery useage this way. Good idea to have a charging facility on your vehicle. In my case with a 125cc Scooter I have built this under the seat. The BT works fine from there so I can use the maps while the N8 is charging.
    Stay safe!

  • Garageband crashes when I try to divert sound through bluetooth headphones

I have managed to make all the sound from my MacBook pro come through my Motorola SF850 headphones - it's very handy when it comes to skype etc.
Unfortunately, every time I choose this option with Garageband, the program crashes.
I have even tried diverting all the sound via the main preferences (diverting Garageband altogether) but the Garageband sound still insists on coming through the internal speakers.
Has anyone out there come across or solved this problem?

GB overrides the System's sound settings. So you have to pick the output in GB's prefs.
The only thing that comes to mind regarding your problem is trying the default fixes, i.e. trashing GB's prefs files and repairing permissions.

  • Why do I get a "call ended" alert when using  Googles Maps through hands free Blue Tooth service in my car

Why do I get a "call ended" alert after voice directions, when using Googles Maps App with my iPhone 5s paired to Bluetooth service in my GM auto

Hello Snosilla! I'm so sorry for all the confusion and for all the time taken to activate service with us! I do see that the iPhone 5c is $99.99 right now. The iPhone 5s is actually $199.99. There's no need to call Pam anymore, we can take over from here.
I've followed you in the forums. Please accept me, and follow me back. Then, send me a Direct Message and I can look into this for you. If you do not have an active line yet, I may need to get you through to our activations department, but I will do all I can!

  • My Iphone 4s says connected to TV and will not let me watch any videos on Safari, and only plays sound through the device. I have not messed with the settings, and have not connected it to anything bluetooth either. It's update is IOS 6.1.3

I have an Iphone 4S and It won't let me watch videos on my safari, which I do everyday. It says that I am connectef to a tv, yet I have not connected it to a tv during the entire time i've owned this product. I have not connected it to anything bluetooth either. It plays the sound through the device, but it will not play the video at all. the update is IOS 6.1.3

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer

  • [SOLVED] No sound through usb soundcard in Google Chromium

    Hi there,
Before switching to Arch I had used my external usb soundcard in Ubuntu and Kubuntu which worked almost flawlessly except for no sound through Google Chromium in Kubuntu. I thought this may have been isolated when switching KDE on Arch but I'm stilling having the same problem. All audio works through the external soundcard except for Chromium.
Does anyone know how I can change sound preferences in Chromium or other way to solve this problem?
    Thanks,

Not sure exactly what I did but I fiddled with the default soundcard configuration and now it works.

  • Mac will not play sound through JBL Bluetooth speaker

My MacBook Pro will connect to the Bluetooth speaker, but refuses to play the sound through it. Seems like it isnt just me who has this issue. What can I do to connect it? Please help.
Note: It works fine with other devices.

UPDATE: Fixed this by simply disconnecting the speaker, turning the volume up full then reconnecting. Saw it on another post, didnt think it would work but surprisingly it did. Very Strange.

  • Can I get the voice over Bluetooth with Google Map on WEBOS 2.0 (Palm Pre 2)?

    Hi,
I just got a Palm Pre 2 with WEBOS 2.0, I am wondering if there is a setup or an application that can provide/enable the GPS voice over bluetooth when using the direction from the Google Map?
Post relates to: Pre 2 p102una (Rogers)

    Hello Danmtl,
If what you are referring to is being able to use a Bluetooth headset for Google Maps voice navigation, then you're in for disappointment. Google Maps w/ Navigation is only available for Android devices at this point in time, although there are talks of Google allowing the service to be placed on Windows Phone 7. As for the WebOS lineup, your only options for voice navigation would be either Verizon's VZ Navigator or Spint's Sprint Navigation. Either of those would require that you had purchased the phone specifically from that provider, so no luck for you there.
Looks like we're all waiting on Google to step in for us at this point in time!

  • My google maps app stopped "talking" to me.  What has happened to the sound

Why did google maps stop "talking". I get the printed directions but no sound.

I assume you are talking about the Gallery on MobileMe - www.me.com - which was never free, and closed a year ago. iCloud provides only very limited photo gallery facilities in the form of shared photostreams and Photo Journal: some third party alternatives are examined in this page -

  • How do I consistently make Google maps voice activate with my Sync Bluetooth sustem

I can not consistently make Google maps voice activation  and my Sync system to work. I have tried several of the suggestest solutions but there doesn't seem to be one that works all the time - maybe its me

when airport express lights up yellow it means it dont have connection to the internet
your laptop, your ipad and your airport express all have a female 3.5mm minijack connector which they can play audio out of
if you need to buy anything really comes down to the bose device you own if it does not have any type of audio input connectors there really is nothing you can do
if it have a female 3.5mm minijack connector then it's just connecting a cable with a male 3.5mm minijack connector in each end to the bose and whatever device you want audio from as in ipad, laptop or airport express
    this is such a cable
    http://www.cables2u.co.uk/images/3.5MM_mini_jack_to_3.5MM_cable.jpg
if it have a female RCA connectors like AUX or CD (typically red and white)or whatever those would be labeled then getting a  cable with male RCA  in one end and a male 3.5mm minijack in the other would fix it
    this is such a cable

non of this is really apple related so if you know somebody who dabble a bit with stereos in general then maybe they can set it up for you as it don't have anything to do with apple stuff or even computers and tablets
it's just about connecting an analogue input source to a stereo which support analogue input (if yours does that)

  • Cannot map sound through it from another system?

I have two systems, the mac mini and a thinkpad notebook. I initially setup the mac speaker output to go to the input on my thinkpad dock, worked like a charm, I could hear both the sounds on the mac (itunes for instance) while still being able to hear sounds on my thinkpad when I'm working through the same speakers.
I just tried this in reverse as the family would like the mac to have sound when I'm out of the house with my laptop. It doesn't work.
When I am looking at the input for sound on the mac and I play a sound on the thinkpad the mac KNOWS the sound is being played, the input level shows it, but it just will not actually play it through the speakers.
What am I missing here? Sound does play from the mac through the speakers though.

Well, this worked and didn't work. It did pass sound through, but it always had an annoying "buzz" in the speakers, like a mic hooked up to an amp etc. Also, the sound wasn't clean and crisp, was kind of choppy I guess...Tried it even at the lowest levels I could set everything to, the buzz was always there and the sound just wasn't quite right.
    Thanks for the suggestion though!
It's just too bad a mac can't do this natively and clean like my thinkpad does...on the thinkpad no buzz and sound is clear as a bell...Guess the family will just have to get use to plugging the speakers into the mac when I've taken my laptop with me and left for the day.

  • RAM preview audio will not play through bluetooth headphones

I am using bluetooth headphones (Jaybird Freedom Sprint) to try and edit audio/video in after effects. However, when I go to Preferences>Audio Output Mapping and choose "Freedom Sprint" and click OK, close the preference window, and it will automatically go back to the default "Built in Output" when I open it back up. It will only play the sound through the Mac Pro tower I am using. Is there a way to get the headphone option output to stay permanently?? Is there a reason why it is not staying selected?  Another thing I forgot to mention is that all other sounds work (like iTunes, volume up/down) through the headphones except for the audio RAM preview in After Effects. How can I disable the audio from playing through the tower? Very frustrating!
BTW - the only time headphones actually work is when they are plugged into the tower. These ones obviously can't be plugged in.
    Thanks! (Screenshots provided for help)

Thanks! I definitely did try that first... (trying to find a solution with the headphones). You can't find any info about them online/their website. Regardless though, After Effects will not allow me to play the audio output through any other device except for the Mac Pro tower - even playing it through the LCD Cinema Display won't work.
    Thanks for your reply

  • Since iOS 8, Siri hangs up while making a call through bluetooth in car

Since we got ios 8 on my 6plus, and my kid's 5s, we can use Siri to request directions and such through my 2008 Toyota Prius' bluetooth, but if we ask Siri to make a call, she says she'll do it, she begins to do it, and then hangs up the call immediately.
Anyone know of any workaround or fix? Is this some kind of ios8 bug?
Maps will give directions over the bluetooth, whether it's Apple Maps (once I changed the setting)  or Google Maps.
I can make phone calls, receive phone calls, dial from the car's dashboard, or dial from the phone. I can also redial from the car dashboard, leading me to think it's the hands free profile (not headset profile) that is in use.
I don't think my car has the A2DP profile for streaming audio (for example from iTunes). but that shouldn't matter.
I did try asking Siri to make a call on a bluetooth wireless speaker (has A2DP ) that also supports phone calls and that worked. .
I can't figure it out - Siri , "call my brother" >> Calling John >> Hangup!
Worked on my old 5 and my kid's 5s until recently. Help!
