Got Postgres Driver to work with JSC

Ok so I've noticed that there have been a few of us Postgres people trying to use JSC with our favourite Database. I am posting the fix here because i can't get access to the Postgresql websites(very odd).
if you check out the postgres jdbc code from their cvs change org.postgresql.jdbc2.AbstractJdbc2Statement.getMetaData() to the following.
===========START OF CODE HACK===============
public ResultSetMetaData getMetaData() throws SQLException
{     ResultSet rs = null;
checkClosed();
rs = getResultSet();
if(rs == null)
// the following code hack has not been fully tested, therefor use at your own risk.
/// by Pucky Loucks of How2share Technologies (creators of PiXPO)
StatementResultHandler handler = new StatementResultHandler();
connection.getQueryExecutor().execute(preparedQuery,
preparedParameters,
handler,
0,
0,
QueryExecutor.QUERY_ONESHOT);
rs = handler.getResults().getResultSet();
return rs.getMetaData();
===================END OF CODE HACK=====
then run ant for pgjdbc and use the postgresql.jar that is in the jar directory, and volia.
Enjoy.

  • Am using 2007 iMac running 10.4.11.  Do not wish to upgrade now.  Where can I find an external hard drive to work with it?  Also need a printer?

    I'm using a 20" iMac that I purchased in 2007.  It's running OS 10.4.11,  and still doing beautifully.  But I've got to get serious about upgrading and I don't want to lose the material that's on it.   Purchased an external hard drive about two years ago,  copied everything I wanted at that time on to it.  When I tried using the h.d. a few days ago it was garbled.  Now I see that inside the box it says that it requires OS 10.5+.   Anyone know if there's still a new hard drive out there that would work with 10.4.11?   Can't even find thumb drives to work with my system anymore.   Any ideas would be appreciated.

    If I were you I would bite the bullet and upgrade to Snow Leopard. You will still be able to use AppleWorks by installing the Rosetta emulator included in Snow Leopard. And, it's a much better OS version than Tiger.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
    You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
    After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

    There seems to be a problem, just now, with the USB 3 ports on the new MBP's supporting eternal USB 3 drives. Some people have no luck at all - can't even recognize the drive - and some are reporting USB 2 speeds (those who drives are recognized). I'd call a dealer such as LaCie or OWC to see if they have USB 3 drives that actually work with MBP's with USB 3 ports. You may have to wait for a software/firmware update.

  • I have a MDD dual 1.25ghz processors and I would like to know which sata drives will work with the Sonnet Seria ATA pci card?

    Which sata drives will work with the Sonnet Tempo Serial ATA card?

    Pretty much any of the SATA 3.0 Gbps drives.
    Western Digital Black and Blue and Hitachi 7K drives are all good choices.
    If you try a SATA 6.0 Gbps drive, it will need to be jumped to limit to SATA 3.0 Gbps.

  • Why won't my secure thumb drive (FAT32) work with os lion?

    Why won't my secure thumb drive (FAT32) work with os lion?  I have used it ok with older mac operating systems.  When the thumb drive is inserted in the usb port, an error message appears stating that the disk was not ejected properly.  It shows as readonly in Finder.  When I try to eject it, the spinning wheel appears and I have to relaunch finder.

  • Anyone got Nokia Music to work with (recognise) N9...

    Several times over the last months I have tried to get Nokia Music to work with my N95 8GB.
    Every time I have spent hours and hours installing, upgrading, uninstalling etc etc but never success.
    The Nokia Music PC software will not recognize my phone.
    No matter what kind of connection i choose when i connect the phone - PCSuite, Mediaplayer etc, none of them makes the Nokia Music recognise the phone.
    I am currently running Windows XP SP3, PC-suite 7.1.30.9, Nokia Music 1.3.20716.09, phone firmware is 31.0.015, phone code is 0550372
    I am (_again_) dead tired of this, and for the moment (again) I truely hate Nokia PC software.
    Has anyone got Nokia Music to work with N95 8GB?
    Regards,
    Njål

     Hi Njaale
    Yes - it is working fine for me on a n95-
    You need to connect your n95 in Media player mode.
    You have  1.3.20716.09  but the latest version is - 1.3.2072
    1) You can get the latest version from here - http://musicstore.nokia.com/download.aspx
    2) If you are having licencing issue it could be because of the drm folder . If step one does not work try to delete the drm folder - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM . You need to make sure that hidden files and folders are not hidden and also that protected operating system files are not hidden.
    To see hidden files:
    1.
    On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
    2.
    Click the View tab.
    3.
    Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
    Oh and just to be sure you are using nokia music
    Here is a picture of it - http://www.slashphone.com/media/data/766/nokia_music.jpg
    You can see in that picture on the left hand side is the phone you drag and drop your music into that phone picture to transfer your music.
    Nokia pc suite below does not transfer nokia music
    picutre - http://tltc.shu.edu/mobile/Nokia-PC-Suite_1.png
    This is because the software in the first link (nokia music) is designed to recognise "DRM" software. But nokia PC suite in the second link does not currently do that.

  • Has anyone got the B500 to work with Ubuntu? (nvidia driver problems)

    In two weeks, I have been completely unable to get the nvidia driver working with the B500 on Linux. No matter what I try to do, the X server doesn't start, and my /var/log/Xorg.0.log file ends with "fatal server error: no screens found." I have tried feeding a custom modeline to xorg.conf, explicitly calling an EDID file which I extracted from the Windows installation, using the upstream nvidia driver installer, using the official repository driver, and probably a bunch of other stuff that I'm not recalling right now.
    Versions I've tried this on:
    Kubuntu 10.04, 32- and 64-bit
    Ubuntu 10.04, 32-bit
    Kubuntu 9.10, 32-and 64-bit
    I am stumped. Has anyone successfully gotten this to work?
    best,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Solved with the kind assistance of paulricardomc on the Ubuntu Forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1477507
    Short version of the fix:
    1. Extract the edid from the Windows partition using softMCCS, saving as edid.bin
    2. Save the edid.bin file in /etc/X11 (or wherever you like)
    3. Include the following in the device section of your xorg.conf:
    "Option"  "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0"
    "Option" "CustomEDID" "DFP-0:/etc/X11/edid.bin"
    Fire up X and you're good to go.

  • Will the G-Drive Mini work with the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter?

    I'm closing in on buying a new MacBook Pro, but the lack of FireWire on the new retina models is worrying me. I've seen a lot of negative responses in regard to the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter, specifically in regards to the G-Raid mini - most of them noting it's the dual drive that's the issue.
    So would any of you happen to know - does a G-Drive mini work well with the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter? I will be doing a lot of heavy video editing if that makes any difference.

    I found out after purchasing a Retina MacBook Pro that you can in fact use the G-RAID Mini, the way to do it is to have two Thunderbolt to FireWire adapters, plug in the first one to the drive and the computer, wait for the drive to start clicking, and then plug the other cable between the computer and the G-RAID on the second port.
    This obviously only works if you have a rMBP as you need the two Thunderbolt ports.

  • DVD drive not working with win 8.1

    Hi. I have HP pavilion 15-e020TU notebook. My DVD drive worked with windows 7 and windows 8. After upgrading to windows 8.1 , the DVD drive is not working. Windows device manager can find the DVD drive but shows a yellow error mark. I selected "Update driver software" and then "Search automatically for updated driver software" . Then the name changed from "Mitsumi CD drive" to "hp DVD A DU8A5SH". And still not working. I installed the firmware update from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv481en&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jum... • External DVD Drive not working with osx 10.8.5

    Hi, I'm having issues with my MacBook Pro 15" 9,1 working with an external DVD drive.  I am running OSX 10.8.5 and have been troubleshooting this issue for a few weeks.  The optical drive itself is the original drive that came with the computer, but I have put it in an external enclosure to free up space inside the body of the MacBook Pro.  The drive seems to function fine with CDs (playing and ripping - haven't tried burning yet) but is extremely inconsistent/barely functional with DVD playback.  Only one DVD in my collection properly works - others bring up error messages in multiple programs (VLC, Wondershare, the native DVD application, etc.) and another continuously loops back to the main menu each time "Play Feature" is selected.  These are a variety of DVDs that range from obscure to commercial and old to new (the oldest and most obscure is the only one that works).  After deciding that it is not the programs, I replaced the enclosure.  I still had the same exact issues.  I reset PRAM - no solution there.  I created a new user on my computer, installed the same media players and had the same luck.  I then used the same external drive on my old MacBook Pro 15" (5,4 running OSX 10.6.8) to see if it would work there.  It worked perfectly (with the native DVD application).  What is going on here and how can I get my new computer to recognize the external DVDs reliably and consistently?

    older superdrives were Hitachi mfg, new ones are Panasonic.  Since yours is new and panasonic, indications are it wont work thru the enclosure on your NEW macbook, rather as you state on your older Mac.
    until you said it worked fine on the old machine, the logical conclusion is a dirty lens on the laser since it reads CDs fine but most DVD not, since the track is much smaller.
    Considering a new superdrive is only $48 on ebay ,or $78 for a new superdrive, your frustration might be too much, and just grab a new superdrive.
    Your detailed information indicates a firmware incompatibility of the panasonic superdrive thru an enclosure
    This is the new superdrive, made by panasonic as you have in your enclosure:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/221280580133?lpid=82
    of course thats a lot of trouble buying that AND an enclosure, easier still is just getting a Mac superdrive inside its working enclosure designed for use as such:

  • Choosing an external hard drive to work with Time Machine

    Now that I have decided to get an external hard drive for my iMac, I am a little frustrated by all the different options out there. All the different ratings and reviews are making me dizzy! I am looking for an external drive that works well with iMac and Time Machine, preferably plug and play. I am looking for 1TB or so of storage and basically will use for Time machine back ups and saving pictures/video. Is there a drive that has a good reputation of getting along well with macs? Any suggestions?

    Cumby wrote:

    If you mean you're going to put the originals of some media files and your TM backups on the same physical disk, that's not a good idea. When it fails (and it will fail, eventually), you risk losing both the originals and the backups.
    You can, of course, keep other data on the same disk, but you should partition it so TM has it's own, exclusive space, usually about 2-3 times the size of what it's backing-up. See items #3 and 5 Frequently Asked Questions post at the top of this forum.
    If you decide to do that, then find some other way to back-up your media files, such as CDs/DVDs.
    Is there a drive that has a good reputation of getting along well with macs? Any suggestions?
    For your TM disk, most of the name brands are about as good as the others; one maker may have a run of problems on a particular model, but by the time that becomes known, it's likely out of production anyway.
    Please update your profile so we know what sort of Mac you have, and what version of Leopard you're running.
    You probably want to get a FireWire drive, as they're usually faster and more dependable than USB. If you have a F/W800 port, spend the extra money for a F/W 800 drive; it's much faster than F/W 400.
    If you think you might ever want to put a bootable "clone" on that drive (many of us do, in addition to Time Machine), and you're considering a Western Digital drive, be sure it's bootable -- some of theirs aren't.
    And get one with it's own power supply; taking power from your Mac may not always be dependable.

  • Thunderbolt 2 external hard drive not working with Macbook Pro (early 2011)

    Hi,
    I'm new to this forum and I hope you guys can help me with this:
    I've recently bought an external hard drive that works on Thunderbolt 2 (LaCie d2 3TB). When I connect the new drive to my Macbook Pro through the thunderbolt port, the drive isn't recognized. However, the drive works fine through a USB connection.
    I thought that Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are compatible, however this doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe it's because the OS X / driver / firmware version that I'm working on that is not updated? I work on an early 2011 Macbook Pro: OS X Version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
    Thank you very much for your help!
    Daniel

    Hi danielsh6,
    I recently bought the new Lacie Thunderbolt 2 D2 3TB and I had the same problem as you, i have a macbook pro early 2011, those support thunderbolt but many times there is a bug that doesn't let you connect any thunderbolt drives to your computer. The solution I found was installing this update:
    Thunderbolt Firmware Update v1.0
    Before doing this I would recommend you updating to mountain lion (not yosemite yet as there is still some glitches and more on preview's macbook pro's).
    Hope this helped!

  • External Optical Drive not working with iMac

    I have a memorex external drive that I have been using to install Windows 7 with boot camp and have successfully used it on 2 mac-mini's. I am not trying to install Windows 7 boot camp on an iMac that has a broken internal optical drive but the external will not run.
    I have tried:
    - Startup Utility: Can see the external in there.
    - External shows up on desktop with Windows 7
    - External shows up in disk utility
    - Windows shows up in startup menu with holding down Option.
    I see iMac SSD Drive, Recovery HD Drive , Windows CD , EFI Boot cd as options.
    If I select Windows it takes me to a black screen that says it doesnt see a boot CD clicking on EFI boot does nothing.
    Anyone have any possible solutions into getting this to work?

    Valen85 wrote:

    Mac Minis without built-in Optical drives behave differently than iMacs with built-in drives for boot ability,
    I am not trying to install Windows 7 boot camp on an iMac that has a broken internal optical drive but the external will not run.
    I see iMac SSD Drive, Recovery HD Drive , Windows CD , EFI Boot cd as options.

    This is confusing. If you have the external Optical Drive (Memorex) connected via USB to the iMac and insert a Windows 7+ DVD in it, the Apple Bootmanager will see OSX, Recovery HD, Windows (if already installed on the iMac's internal drive) and possibly Windows and EFI boot from the DVD.
    The Windows and EFI Boot will not work if you try to boot the iMac from the external. Test this from the internal Optical drive as well. If your iMac is a UEFI Mac (2013+) it will let you boot from the DVD directly (without Bootcamp).
    Bootcamp Assistant will refuse to let you use the external Optical drive, if you try use it to install Windows. BCA only works with internal Optical drives as far as Windows installation is concerned, on Macs that have a built-in optical drive. The exceptions to this rule are 2012 Macs and some 2011 models.

  • External DVD drive not working with Lombard G3 333

    I have an external DVD drive that worked when I had 10.4, but had to reformat HD and now only have 10.3.9, and now the DVD drive does not work with DVDs, it will work with CDs and CDR media, but not with DVD media. My Lombard did not come with DVD originally and I am using a PC Card (Macintosh PowerBook DVD-Video PC Card For PowerBook G3 Series) and it worked before with 10.4, but not with 10.3, any ideas? Also have tried with 9.x, no go either. Any help would be appreciated.
    Also, would it be difficult to add a DVD logic board to my Lombard?
    Joey

    xamdu,
    I am reading and replying to this post after first replying to your other post, so a few of my previous comments are redundant.
    Regarding the FireWire(?) USB 2.0(?) DVD drive: It is possible Tiger supported your DVD drive but Panther does not. I would give PatchBurn for Panther a try:
    http://patchburn.de/download.html
    If the above is unsuccessful, take a look at this workaround:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20040330171655882
    You can swap logic boards but it does require a lot of disassembly.
    Since no version of OSX supports Apple DVD Player, I am assuming you have a third-party player like VLC installed to watch movies. If this is the case, the DVD Decoder PC card is not necessary. If booted to 9.x, you of course will need the decoder PC card but I did not know 9.x's Apple DVD Player supported external drives.
