"GPIB error Query Interrupted" flashes on HP54542A

I've written a display and control program in Delphi 7 for the HP54542A. The program uses NI commands and the GPIB-32.dll library, per NI's recommendation. The program appears to work properly, but I frequently get the message "GPIB error-Query Interrupted" flashing on the scope screen. I've tried putting delays in the software after read and write commands, but that seems to have no effect. Any suggestions? The version of the GPIB-32.dll that I have is dated 1999. I'm using a fairly new NI PCMCIA card in a new Dell laptop.

tfowler,
Perhaps someone in the community has some experience with the HP54542A. We do have a newer GPIB driver which has a newer GPIB-32.dll that you could try:
NI-488.2 Download
We also have CVI and LabVIEW instrument drivers for this instrument that you could try out (since you are using Delphi you could at least check out what the drivers are doing and get some ideas):

    Hi Pals,
I think this problem is more related to your your spectrum analyzer then to LabVIEW. Is there any documentation or sample code from the vendor how to get a screenshot? Or do they offer any LabVIEW driver VI's on their homepage?
There is probably one thing you could try to change in your code, you can use a delay betwenn the VISA Writes, maybe the analyzer needs some time time to procees a command

  • Intermittent GPIB error 6 (EABO)

my system: Mac OS 8.6, Labview 5.1, NI-488.2 for Mac OS version 7.6.3, PCI-GPIB card, Keithley 2182 Nanovoltmeter and Keithley 24xx Sourcemeters.
I have a Labview application (modeled on Keithley's application note "Automatic Resistance Measurements on High Temperature Superconductors") which runs well with >99% reliability. The other times it hangs on a GPIB read with a EABO error. The Keithley instruments will complain "Query interrupted" or "Query unterminated". These problems seem to be more prevalent if the computer is distracted with mouse action or other applications, but it'll fail even without such challenges.
Since the application runs, I know my syntax is good. I've tried increasing the timeouts, but this does not pr
ovide immunity. Software delays help somewhat, but with an unacceptable duty cycle penalty. I suspected that I was getting spurious SRQ's for a while, but the GPIB reads that fail most frequently are not those preceded by Wait RQS.
All my GPIB functions are the old style (not 488.2). I'm not using VISA anywhere, since I've found the VISA functions to be even less reliable on my system.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello,
I realize I getting into this stream after some correspondence, and that you are asking another poster a question.  But, if you are simply trying to get your LabVIEW program not to stop and indicate an error, rather continue and discard it, all you have to do is monitor the error cluster, for example, by wiring it to an error cluster selector input, and then in the error case, simply pass out a fresh, new error cluster constant with status = false (no error), code = 0, and an empty source string.  The easiest way to do this is to first wire through the no error case to create a tunnel at the output, and then right click to create a constant in the error case.  Attached is a screenshot showing both the the error case and no error cases in a quick example.
I hope this helps!  Repost if you are having any further or continued problems!

  • CompactRIO unusual error status LED flashing continuously

    Hi,
    I have a cRIO 9014 controller with an error i can't solve.
After re-installing LV 8.5 on my laptop MAX could see the controller but with the VISA and NI-RIO error. I wanted to obtain the IP address from the DHCP server (before i used the static IP address without any problems), rebooted the controller and the status LED started flashing continuously every 1 second. (unrecoverable error or corrupted flash memory card)
I rebooted the controller several times with IP reset but LED is still flashing. Also in MAX i can't see the controller anymore so reformatting controller  is not possible.
Firewall is off, crossover cable is connected, IP of host is ok but no cRIO in MAX
Found a similar problem on the forum http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=238333&query.id=24781#M238333 but it didn't solve my problem unfortunately.
    Thanks for your help!
    Greetings from the Netherlands

    Hello TrabW,
Thank you for your post on our webforum.
Can you try to start up the controller in safe mode? Is it possible to ping the controller? Please try the default IP address and the one you entered (in case the controller didn't reset the IP). Please let me know the results,

  • Keithley 6514 query interrupted problem

I am trying to read a current from Keithley 6514 Electrometer. The current is really small so it takes a while for the electrometer to find the right range. I use a VISA Write to send "MEAS:CURR?" and a VISA Read followed immediately. I sometimes got error -410, which means query interrupted. Somehow VISA Read returned before the measurement was completed. How do I fix this?

You may be able to configure the Electrometer to enable SRQ events. This way, the Electrometer could assert the SRQ line when it has completed the measurement. I believe with VISA you'll call viEnableEvent() for VI_EVENT_SERVICE_REQ. You'll need to send another string to the instrument to enabling SRQ events. That information should be in the manual from Keithley. You can then call viWaitOnEvent() to wait until the operation has completed.

  • Can't get IVI Power Meter error query to work properly.

I have been trying to use the IviPwrMeter Error-Query.vi to read possible errors coming from the Power Meter.  However, I have found that no errors can be detected using this vi.  This is because the returned value 'status' is wired over to the 'error code' input of 'IviPwrMeter Error Converter.vi' and the status value will always be equal to VI_SUCCESS as the attached code signifies.
All of this code was generated by either LabWindows/CVI and/or LabView.
If I wire the error code output of 'IviPwrMeter_error_query' function to the error code input of 'IviPwrMeter IVI error converter.vi', the errors on the Power Meter is at least detected.
Am I doing something wrong here or are there other work arounds?

        return error;

    Dennis,
I get the same results as you if I don't have a power meter connected.  However, this doesn't supprise me because the session handle is probably checked at a higher level.
The calling hiearchy is as follows (I think, because I don't have all of the code)  IviPwrMeter Error Query.vi -> IviPwrMeter_error_query (IviPwrMeter.dll) ->age4418b_error_query (age4418b.dll).  I would guess that the session is validated in the second layer and not the bottom layer where the actual instrument error query is happening.
Something you may try.  If you have any instrument, write a simple program to get a valid handle then call the error query using the error cluster to link them together.  Set a breakpoint before the error query, run the program, use MAX to send an invalid command and create an error.  Then resume your original program and see if an error is reported in the error cluster after executing the IVI error query.

  • Premiere Elements 11 Shared Technologies error DW020 Adobe Flash Player 10 plug in missing.

I am unable to complete the install of Adobe Premiere Elements 11 on my Windows7 Pro 64 bit system.  When the installation process gets to installing Shared Technologies I get an error message "The installation process has encountered an error while installing Shared Technologies.  Please restart your system and try again."  Restarting the system gives the same result again.  The download assistant program identifies two errors: DW050--Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX: Install failed, and DW020: Adobe Flash CS5.5 depends on Adobe Flash Player 10 plugin to be installed.
My system currently has Adobe Flash player 11.7.700.224 installed.  I can find a download of Adobe Flash Player 10 but where do I put it?  Do I need to uninstall Adobe Flash Player 11.7... ?  Is there another solution?

This install problem seems to be solved.  I uninstalled every Adobe program, but still couldn't get past the Shared Technologies issue.  Then I went to C://Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe/ and deleted all recent folders & files.  This seemed to do it.  Both Premiere Elements 11 and Photoshop Elements completed installation.  Now on to figuring out how to force Windows7 64 bit to run these programs in 32 bit simulation mode.

Also my compiler settinsg are set to 11.0.1
    What is going wrong ??

    Hi,
SoundCodec class is defined in Player 10. Are you using the
player 10 afcs swc ? If so, you need to change Require Flash Player
Version unser Project->Properties->Flex Compiler in Flex
Builder and put that to 10.0.0 and also make sure that your browser
has player 10 and you Flex SDK also supports player 10.
And if you are using afcs 9 swc , then put 9.0.124 or
something in the Require Flash Player Version and that should fix

  • OpenScript ActionScript Error from Adobe Flash Player 9

I get a popup ActionScript Error from Adobe Flash Player 9 when trying to record a Flex Tree object using OpenScript 9.2.1.0 Production. Specifically, I click on the Triangle that opens/closes the view of the child nodes underneath the parent node of a Tree. Initially, the triangle arrow already pointing down and the child node is already showing. When I click on the triangle, the node underneath goes up and disappears under its parent node and the traingle is then pointing to the parent node.
When I click this triangle in Firefox without OpenScript recording, I don't get any errors, popups, or issues. It seems to work correctly. During OpenScript recording, the recording seems to crash with a popup that is titled "Adobe Flash Player 9" and has the text "An ActionScript error has occurred" with the following error message:

    Thanks,
    John

Error: Unable to find automation method 'mx.events.TreeEvent' for class '[object OSAutomationClass]'.

I can click "Dismiss All" from the Adobe popup and Firefox isn't affected. Openscript doesn't appear to have any issues and the recording can be continued or stopped. It records the click on the tree and the "Dismiss All" from the popup both as "Click object("@id='main'") as type "web" instead of "flexFT".
I am using OATS 9.2.1.0 with Firefox 3.6.17. I am testing a Flex 3.3 SDK built application. I installed the Adobe Flash Player 9 that came with the Flex SDK 3.3 before installing OATS.
Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated.
Some other information that may prove to be useful: I cannot seem to get OpenScript to consistently play back the actions on the same tree described above. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I've tried using "Select Tree", "Select List", and "Click Tree" and each one is inconsistent on playback. It will report "Target Not Found".
I have the console output for a "Target Not Found" failure below, where line 100 is ".select("GRID1>server1", TriggerEvent.Mouse," from the following Java generated on recording with OpenScript:
    flexFT
    .list(
    15,
         "/web:window[@index='0' or @title='My Title']/web:document[@index='0']/flex:application[@automationIndex='index:-1' and @label='' and @className='main' and @automationName='main' and @automationClassName='FlexApplication' and @id='main']/flex:canvas[@automationIndex='index:1' and @label='' and @className='mx.containers.Canvas' and @automationName='mainCanvas' and @automationClassName='FlexCanvas' and @id='mainCanvas']/flex:dividedBox[@automationIndex='index:16' and @label='' and @className='view.MainMediator' and @automationName='mediator' and @automationClassName='FlexDividedBox' and @id='mediator']/flex:accordion[@label='' and @automationName='index:0' and @id='null' and @automationIndex='index:0' and @className='mx.containers.Accordion' and @automationClassName='FlexAccordion']/flex:canvas[@automationIndex='index:1' and @label='My%20View2' and @className='view.my.MyNavigator' and @automationName='My%20View2' and @automationClassName='FlexCanvas' and @id='null']/flex:canvas[@label='' and @automationName='index:1' and @id='null' and @automationIndex='index:1' and @className='mx.containers.Canvas' and @automationClassName='FlexCanvas']/flex:list[@automationIndex='index:2' and @className='view.MyGridTree' and @automationName='index:2' and @automationClassName='FlexList' and @id='null']")
    .select("GRID1>server1", TriggerEvent.Mouse,
         KeyModifier.None);
    think(1.0);

  • Unable to publish projects with inserted video - error message The Flash video can not be loaded

I've created a project in Captivate 6 with two slides that have inserted videos in them
Both the videos were created in Captivate 6 by publishing those projects as mp4 videos
They play fine in the previews but when publishing I get the error saying the Flash video can not be loaded for both of those slides and in the output files the area for the video is blank.
I have checked that the videos are not open anywhere else as I saw on a previous post this was the issue but the only place they are in use is in the project I am trying to publish.
Below are my settings and the error message
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your screenshot indicates you are publishing to a folder on a network drive.
    Have you:
Verified whether or not the video file exists at the published folder location? (It should ideally be sitting in the same folder as the SWF that calls it.)
Verified that the folder location is set up as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings?

  • Strange error: gpib error when using DAQmx

    Hello
I try to out put a single puls using a counter on a PCI-6602 Board with the attached LabVIEW code.
Strangely I get  the following error message:
"Error 3 occurred at an unidentified location
    Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW:  Internal error. Wrong memory zone accessed.
    =========================
NI-488:  GPIB Controller not addressed correctly."
    Why do I get an GPIB-Error, although I don't even use a GPIB-Card?

    Hello!
The problem is coming from the simple error handler.
The Simple Error Handler cannot decide if plots error + warnings, or only errors.
You cannot put your enumerator to the simple error handler, it works only with the general error handler.
In your program you are giving to the simple error handler a number 3 as error code. The VI convert this error number 3 with the error GPIB you received.
You should so replace the Simple Error Handler.vi with the General Error Handler.vi
    Best regards
    Ken
