Green screen in paused mov-file in QT 7.6.6 under Lion 10.7.4

Hello everyone,
I started to experience annoying problem in Quicktime 7.6.6 after upgrade to Lion 10.7.4: mov-files do not show the frame when the movie is stopped or paused. Green screen is shown. Neither the movie shows when scrolling the position control. Frame by frame also just show this green screen. I saw elsewhere that it's not only me who has this. Any help from apple?
Thanks!
PS. mpg and mp4 files play OK. Quicktime 10.1 does not have these issues on the same movies.

Aha! You are right - I have two: 9400M on PCI and 9600M GT on PCIe and indeed when I switched to 9600M it solved the problem. Thank you!!! But why do I need two GPUs on 2  busses at all? Is that the one is responsible for the mini-dvi out for external display?

    Hello cideaton,
The problem you have mentioned seems to be an unusual as it occurs only when you have the printer connected in wireless network.

  • QuickTime green screens on pause

QuickTime Player Pro 7.6.6 (Utilities folder), Mac OS 10.7.4, MacBook Pro. I tried removing Perian, but it still green screens.
The reason I'd like this to work is that I wanted to do export to PCT on some individual frames. I'm not out of luck, because QuickTime Player 10.1 (the one in the Applications folder) works fine, and I can use screen-capture software, but I'm still curious as to if there is a solution.

I believe previous discussions indicated that this problem was associated with certain graphic cards. (Try searching on this topic for more specific info as this is not a problem for me and I did not save a pointer to the discussion that mentioned specific cards.)

  • Move files without pressing down the trackpad in Lion

I just got my new 13" Macbook Air but can't move files (or windows) by "double clicking and holding" the way I could on my old Macbook Pro. In order to move something I need to press down the trackpad, or use three fingers on it. Did Apple remove this option with Lion or how do I make it work?

BEAUTIFUL!!!! HERE IS A MORE SIMPLER APPROACH
If you want to reactivate the classic double-tap-and-drag gesture, it's possible, but the option is well-hidden. Instead of being in System Preferences under Trackpad, it's actually under System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse and Trackpad > Trackpad Options. Click the check box that says "Dragging" and you should be all set.

  • Finished DVD plays (shows) complete green screen instead of movie for part of the movie

In Premiere CS4 the movie I made plays fine. In Encore timeline the movie plays fine. Yet when the DVD is burned and then played, part of the movie just shows up as completely green on the screen and then it will stop and the rest of the movie will play fine for a while and then the screen will go all green again. Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?

  • White screen when viewing .mov files in FCE/Quicktime

So I did a shoot a couple weeks ago with two cameras and now I am trying to get the files off of the other camera, which is not mine.  I have tried multiple times and each time I get a blank screen (no video, but there is audio) in both FCE (what I'm using) and Quicktime (and iTunes for that mattter). I have seen that the files work (as I have watched them on the other person's computer), but on this editing computer and my personal computer the files do not work. The other videographer recorded straight onto mini SD card (did not capture in FCE or FCP) and transferred those files onto a external HD which she gave to me, so there is no compatability issues going from FCP to FCE (which I have read about). Quicktime is up to date, I have installed Perian & Flip4Mac. Not sure what else to do....I have looked through many forums and basically lost at this point. Thanks for the help and insight.
    -Alex

the other camera was a CCD something
Virtually ALL camcorders have CCDs.  A CCD is the component that the lens focuses the image on.  It has nothing to do with the way the video was recorded.  We need either the specific model number or the exact video file format & codec that was recorded (we can tell that from the camcorder model #).
my friend said the files are not compressed at all.
Hard to believe & unlikely to be a correct statement.  The camera make/model will reveal how it records the video.
    I filmed in on a Canon xha1s
Easy set up: HDV Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60
The XHA1S is an HDV camcorder, so the easy setup is correct ... for the video from the XHA1S.  Until we know what your friend's camcorder was we can't tell if it's HDV or not.

  • Green Screen Distortion on Movie and Video Playback

When I play videos downloaded from iTunes, be in previews, rentals of purchases, they all have the same issue!
The audio is fine, but the video playback is distorted beyond comprehension. The screen flickers green with purple patches (similar to the effect when a display cable is loose at the back of your tv.
This issue only occurs in iTunes.
    Thanks,
    Darren

nevermind, after playing with it a while i figured it out, i just created an album in iphoto and set the desktop background to cycle through the photos every 5 seconds.

  • Green Screen and Unlinked AE files

I am experiencing a few problems with premiere. Firstly is sometimes clips in my sequence will randomly turn green after being fine for days... and i have to move it up a few layers to get it back to normal. Secondly sometimes when I direct link to After effects sometimes it will randomly unlink when opening it up and when I try to link it back up it says it cant be done.. So i have to end up opening After effects and rendering out of AE and brining the .mov into premiere. Please let me know what is going on. It happens to my colleagues as well.

I would export the AE clips to a lossless codec and use that in Premiere to avoid DL issues.

  • Why a bright green screen before movie plays on Front Row?

Before I reinstalled Leopard the other day all .avi movie files on Front Row would play immediately on selection. Now, for a brief moment, the screen turns bright green before starting a number of the movies. Not all are affected. But those that are come from the same initial bit torrent source.

It seems to be part of the file as it shows when playing direct on QuickTime. Interestingly there's no green screen when the same file is played on another computer. And it didn't happen on this computer before re-install. Also, when the same files are played in QuickTime the QT pane reduces in size to smallest possible in the first few seconds of playing. If I enter full screen, the pane size doesn't reduce.

  • Green Screen with Avid made QT file

While I don't experience this with QT files made with Final Cut, I got a QT file to score and it shows up on my workstation G5 Dual 2.0 machine as a green screen with audio intact. Other QT files made in Final Cut open perfectly. Any suggestions on what to do on my end without asking the director to re-export file?

Normally when viewing a file using QuickTime Player without having the proper video codec you would get a white screen in the video playback dimensions. The "green screen" is more common on a PC but usually means bad things have happened to the video card or corrupt video drivers.
If you get this green screen on a single file (or format) we might assume you're just missing the video codec. You can view the codec used in the Movie Info window of the QuickTime Player.
Download and install those appropriate for your OS and system and you should be able to view the file.
Avid makes good stuff and software and is usually pretty up to date with QuickTime changes. Finding what you need shouldn't be much trouble.

  • Black screen between every clip that does not appear on timeline, only on MOV file

    Hello
I originially had this issue  https://discussions.apple.com/message/17086997#17086997
I have now fixed the letterboxing issue but now have this problem (I did not have this issue before) where I get a very short black screen between each clip I put on the timeline. The black screen does not show up on the timeline, it only appears once I create the file. I'm not sure if this is affected but the fact I have an external hard drive. All my footage is stored on the hard drive and i save my Final Cut Pro file on the hard drive then upload it to YouTube. I made 2 quick short MOV files to test this theory (one made from footage on my EHD and the other from footage from my desk top) neither files had the black screen in the MOV files.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9yBH8oAnx8
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI27LlWTdXE
These links are to my latest video I uploaded which shows the blacks clips, it's not terrible to have them but it's very annoying.
Thank you in advance for your help and Merry Christmas

Hello Nick, thanks for the answer.
I have fully lengthened my timeline and the black gaps are not there to delete (they only appear once the file has been exported).
The issue I have (I think) is that im not sure what export settings I am meant to choose to export the footage.
My camera records in widescreen so when I place my footage onto the time line and final cut pro automatically selects the correct settings for me, this is what is chooses
This is then the export settings that are automatically in the box when I go to export
As my footage is 1920 x 1080 I would expect to be given an option with that in but these are the only options available
I am not sure if this should create the black spaces between each shot.

  • Trying to capture iMac screen to a iMovie .mov file

    Hello:
I'm preparing a video to explain how to do some work for my job, and I'd like to capture the screen to a .mov file as I perform some tasks on the computer. How can I do this? Thank you!

QuickTime Player allows you make screen recordings.
Just launch QuickTime Player and choose File>New Screen Recording.
The resulting file can easily be imported into iMovie.

  • Keynote won't export to quicktime get a green screen.

Been using Macs for a long time but am new to Keynote '09. When trying to export a slideshow in Quicktime to use in iMovie, I get window with a progress bar and a green screen and a Quicktime file that plays back a green screen!
I have searched the forums and web and cannot find much about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The slideshow has just 9 slides with photos and animated transitions, no audio, no video. I want to use the file as my title sequence in an iMovie. I did try to export directly to iTunes and had no luck there.

Have you tried creating a simple three slide movie with just text and exporting that to see if ANYTHING will work?

  • Quicktime Pro 7.66 now has Green screen?

    Hi,
We just upgraded to LION 10.7.4 and I'm noticing on a few of my Quicktime movies - when paused, the screen turns green?  THAT'S never happened before.  I'm sure it's an upgrade issue, when I go back to our clone from last week, it doesn't do that!
We use QT Pro 7.66. on a MacBook Pro (about 1 1/2 years old) - always perfect results, but now this?
No big deal, just a little annoying.  It only does this on a few of the movies we've exported out of Final Cut Pro.  Can't find the pattern?
Anyone else seeing a green screen when paused?  I'm lonely out here!
    Thanks,
    Larry

OMG!!  YOU'RE a genius!  Works PERFECTLY!!  Every QT movie I have plays perfectly - NOW - when I have the Graphics set to "Integrated Only".  If I switch to "Discrete Only" - they FAIL, meaning I see the green screen.  Switch back to "Integrated Only" they're perfect again.
Thank you Mike.  I don't know how you guys do this!  Just curiously, what exactly am I doing by switching?  I don't know anything about Graphics cards!  My MacBook Pro is about 1 1/2 years old, It's a 2.66Ghz Intel Core 7 with 8 gig RAM.  For Final Cut Pro X I changed it's configuration.  (You'd be proud of me!) I have a 120gig SSD drive AND moved the 'older' TB drive I swapped to to where the DVD drive is.  So I have no DVD but 2 HD in my Mac.  (I guess all that is irrelavent, though!)
I didn't even know I have 2 graphics cards in my Mac!
What's the downside to keeping it set to "Integrated Only"?  Can I leave it set to that?
Thanks very very much again.  These chat boards are just terrific!
