Group address (from mail list) is added to subject line

Just this week-without changing any settings-emails that are sent to a mailing list show the addressee in the subject line as well as the address, but in brackets, i.e. address [email protected] / subject -[[email protected]] great news!
I checked with my ISP who hosts our mail and they thought it might be a virus attached to address book or mail program.
Can anyone help? It is a problem in annoyance only, altho it interferes with searching.

That is very unusual. You might want to check with the mailing list administrator and see if anything has changed there. Is there anything unusual about the way you create and send these messages?

Hmph, obviously they haven't got the slightest clue what they're talking about. This might be true with a Windows machine, but there is no such virus on Macs. You can safely set this worry aside.

How to stop Mail from selecting addresses from the list of Previous Recipients?

    This is a related question.
I deleted ALL my previous recipients and when I create a new e-mail it STILL is getting addresses that I don't want - they pop up and I don't know how to stop this!
I switched from one ISP to another - I deleted the old e-mail account in MAIL - I DID use the same name on the account - is that why it keeps bringing up the old address?

  • In plain English can someone tell me how to use the unsubscribe button or get it to show up in the "unsubscribe from mailing list" ad-on?

There's nothing to detail it doesn't work.

    In plain English.
If the unsubscribe header the add-on uses is present it shows up in the mail header along with the from Subject to etc. With or Without the add-on. So if there is no entry in the header, then the mail sender does not support that style of unsubscribing. In the United States unsubscribing from a mailing list is troublesome as legislators are either are unable or unwilling to understand the problem. Given the amounts of money involved I will go with the latter.
Any difficulties you have with the actual add-on need to be dealt with by the add-on author The download page list a support link. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/unsubscribe-from-mailing-list/?src=search

I don't think there's a way to edit the previous recipients. Not easily, anyway.
I'd just delete what's wrong and make sure to get it right the next time.

  • Export email addresses from Mail?

Is there any way to export email addresses from Mail into a CSV file? I know I can push it to Address Book then export but that mixes all the exports in with my existing addresses.

If you know SQL, you could export out of the previous recipients database file inside your user/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder. It's a sqlite3 database.

  • Exclude business partners from mailing list

When business partners do not want to receive emails, mails or other marketing information how do we make sure CRM understands this and they are excluded from mailing lists?

    Hi King,
To achieve this, you can use the marketing attribute for the BP. You can create a custom attribute as 'DONOTCONTACT' and then assign the same to an attribute profile. Then, you can set this marketing attribute of the business partner and track whether we want to send the mail or email to him.
    Refer the following transactions :

    CRMD_PROF_TEMPL

  • Group address from Address Book not sending in Mail 2

I just upgraded from Panther to Tiger, and also upgraded to Mail 2 in the process.
I discovered some of my old group addresses held in Address Book would no longer link into my emails. When I selected the group name and clicked the To button in the Address Book panel, the group name would appear in the email To line. But when I saved the email and later reopened to send it, the group name would no longer be there.
After much head scratching I worked out the problem was with full stops being included in some of the group names.
Remove the full stops and problem goes away.

I am having the same trouble but only with groups.  I cannot get them to work in email
hi...In a new email, just start typing the name of the group in the To, Bcc or whatever, and the full name of the group will show up to choose, choose that name, then hit return and all the names pop in.
    no dragging and dropping, sad.
or, in a new email, click 'addresses' icon at the top of the e-mail (i customized my email top bar to add this in. you can do this by right clicking on the tool bar. As you can see I have added several things)
Or that addresses man icon is at the top of the messages....and open that, then choose the group, then click in the name/list area of all the names and select all the names by doing command-A, then choose to click the button at the top left of the Addresses window: to, bcc etc
As you notice, only the topmost e-mail address, if you have several for a person, will be chosen....to that is different too....could be good, could be bad. I guess one has to rearrange all the addresses to that the top most one is the one you really want to send to
    oh boy
The only use I see for Address Book, now called Contacts, it ot put the addresses, and to mail one at a time a contact. cant just drag in addresses like before, that i see.
btw, do you happen to be the Janice Fisher from Scotland?

  • Adding Email Addresses from Mail to Address Book

I send out a lot of emails that I would like to save in my address book. Address Book automatically sorts the address by first name or last name. This makes it virtually impossible to locate daily or hourly all the emails that you saved to your Address Book. Especially when your Address Book has over 3,000 addresses. Is there anyway to save email addresses using Mail directly to a Group in the Address Book?
    Thank you.

    Welcome to the discussions, Big.
If you select an address in an email message you can drag it and drop it onto a group in Address Book, making a new contact and adding it to the group in a single operation. You can't do this from Mail's Previous Recipients window, though you can use the PR window, ordered by date, to see who you sent email to three days ago - but not hourly.

  • HT1694 how do I remove an email address from Mail that is not in my contacts list?

I have and E-mail address that comes up when I start typing an address into Mail when I create a new E-mail and this particular E-mails address is not associated with any of my Contacts.
How can I remove this E-mail address so it no longer appears?
    Apple iPhone 4S iOS 5.1
    thank you
    Dave

    You're welcome.
If that email address is your Apple ID, I don't believe you can delete it.
If you have your cell phone number selected as your Caller ID, when sending an iMessage it will be sent from your phone number.
Since your Apple ID email address is registered as well, if someone has your email address in their contacts, they can select your email address to send you an iMessage in addition to your phone number.
When this recipient says you are sometimes sending an iMessage via email, it is received as an email with the Mail app on their iPhone, not with the Messages app?

  • Adding addresses from Mail

Hey, Im sure that when I first used mail if someone sent me an email with their home address in it I could hover over said address and would be given the option to add it to my address book....but I dont seem to be able to anymore. Did this feature ever exist or have I made it up? And if it did how come It doesnt work for me anymore?
    Cheers

Did this feature ever exist or have I made it up?
I can't say for sure because I'm not running 10.5. But if you hover over anything else, do you have any options to do anything with that data? If so, then I would guess that this feature never existed, since it would rely on Data Detectors, which you have no visible option to turn off. You can certainly add contacts to Address Book from Mail, but at least in 10.4.x that's a menu option, so I can't speak to whether or not that changed in 10.5.x.
Your profile says you're running 10.5.1; if that's true, is there some reason you haven't yet updated to 10.5.4? If you're already running that, you should update your profile so it's accurate.

  • Giving users control of their own distribution list control to add or remove external email addresses from their list

We are a Exchange 2010 SP3 shop, we have distribution groups (with over 200 email addresses ) from another email system which has only external email addresses (i.e [email protected] [email protected]  and so on …..)
We want to import these groups into exchange. we called microsoft, they said create mail contacts for each address and put those in a Distribution Group.  I know this will work.
Our goal is to have the user create / maintain / add / remove external their own email addresses  (Not the IT department)
There must be many companies whose requirements match ours. Are there third party tools that would handle creation of distribution list?
Any constructive advice would be greatly appreciated ! THank you

I wouldn't give the ability to create contacts to everyone in the environment because it will become mess at some point of time and IT will have to jump to control it
anyway so why don’t from the start...
I would give this to certain people like Leads or Managers of the groups under certain IT Policy so it will be still under control and people
will think before asking their superior to create them and someone gets responsibility to manage these contacts...
Though here is the more specific article on how to delegate creating and editing contacts...

  • Address book - mailing list - sorting order of names

Generally difficult to edit mailing lists - alter order of names in the list - add email/names in middle of list - drop names from list - copy parts of list to another list - how can you edit a mailing list?

    1 at a time? I don't think so.
Here is a bonus lesson in selecting multiple items.
select item 1. Press control+a to select all
select item1. move up or down several items and hold the shift key while clicking item 2. This selects items 1 and 2 and all items in between.
hold the control key while clicking random items. This selects any item that is clicked on.
hold the control key while clicking a selected item. This will deselect that item.
You cannot drag and drop from a list though. This will only work in the address book itself.
A contact must exist in the address book that the list is created in to be added to that list.
You can move or copy contact between address books using drag and drop.
Drag and drop to move. Hold the control key before dropping to copy. You will see a + sign appear to indicate a copy.
