Group Assets are ment for Tax accounting with dep area 15 and they are only stastistical.

    a) OAYM - to define the depritiation areas that would be used for group assets .
    b) OAAX - where in you decide which all asset class are to be used for group asset functionality .
    You create the group asset using the T code AS21 and then assign the same to the depreciation areas or asset classes at the time of creation of the asset through say AS01 .
    This Might help u to understand Group Asset.

  • Account assignment for group asset is different from that in asset

    Dear experts,
    I have creted one main asset . and i have created group asset. and my main asset class and group asset class are both are different.If i continue that error assets are shoud be craeted .but the depreciation key and usefull life and ordinary depreciation will going and it's showing grey.
    My question at the time of assighning the group asset for the particular assets the below error is comming.
    Account assignment for group asset is different from that in asset
    Message no. AA810
    Diagnosis
    The account allocation 14000 of the group asset 140000001 0 is different from account allocation 1000 of the asset.
    System Response
    This error needs to be corrected for balance sheet valuation (usually determined in depreciation area 01). For all other depreciation areas, this is only a warning you should check.
    Procedure
    Check your entry. When an individual asset has a different account assignment than the group asset, it is not possible to reconcile the individual asset to the group asset in reporting by means of accounts.

    1) for example i have buliding asset class and i have one group asset class.under the building asset account determination i have assighned the gl a/c for both b/s and book deprecitaion
    In groups asset class also i have done same things. i have craeted asset under building asset class and created one asset under group assets.
    then assighned the group asset to main assets. the error is comming like this Account assignment for group asset is different from that in asset
    I have serched in sdn forum and service .sap.com . they are saying you can use same gl a/c for both asset class.for depreciation .i have tried this scenario. still i am getting the same error and same problem.
    The most important thing is we are working on ECC 6 versions
    sap note 76186.

    Pls explain me the **only Group Asset Configuration - GL A/c's - Asset Creation- ** steps and also the fields what we have to give in the steps. I will assign points to U. Need each & every step & field.pls watch the following and give me.Pls dont give the links.

    follow these steps,
    1. copy chart of dep:  t.code : fc08
    2. delete depriciatin areas
    3. assign to company code; oaob
    4.specify account determination, create screen layout rules
    5.define number ranges; as08
    6.define asset class ; oaoa
    here you have to give no ranges, account determination for all asset classes.
    7. determinine depriciation areas in asset classess; oayz
    now you have one idea about your asset configuration. now before further, create your gl accounts for each asset depriciation, gl for asset loss, gl for asset profit on sales.
    8. now you have to assign accounts for postings; a090
    goto each account determinatin and assgin relavent gl accounts in all cloums
    9. specify document type for posting depriciation
    10. specify rounding figures of net asst book value/depriciation; oayo
    11. define screen layouit for asset master data, depriciation areas, define base methods, multilevel methods etc.,
    12.you have to maintain period control methods for dep run and maintain depriciation keys
    13. now you should have one asset, so create one asset maser record; t.code as01, post the purchase transation by f-90
    14. now you have to run the depriciation by t.code AFAB
    GOTHROUGH AL THESE SETTINGS
    before that decide abut your asset classes, create gl a/cs and then start from the first step,

    Hello,
    As a general rule, the system calculates depreciation at the level of individual assets. Certain types of calculation needs or tax requirements (such as in the U.S.A.) make it necessary, however, to calculate depreciation at a higher level.  For this purpose, you can group assets in the FI-AA system together into so-called group assets.  You can group assets together per depreciation area to form group assets.
    Definition: group asset
    Asset Accounting (FI-AA)
    A combination of a number of assets for the purposes of a common, summarized calculation of depreciation.
    A group asset is represented in the SAP System by a separate master
    record.
    So it is up to your requirement weather you want to go with Group Asset or not.
    But the rate of Depreciation is different for asset classes so  it is better not to go with Group Asset.

    In Control tab in FS00 there is a field called Authorzation group which i think restrict the users for the GL Account. where i can create this group and how can i assign this group to a particular user to restrict a particular user from using a GL Account.

    The authorization group allows extended authorization protection for particular objects. The authorization groups are freely definable. The authorization groups usually occur in authorization objects together with an activity.
    Access to a master record may be restricted. One reason for this might be to protect master data from unauthorized changes.
    Authorization can be assigned for the following editing functions:
    Create
    Change
    Display
    All employees can display the G/L account master records, but only a limited number of people may create or change them.The authorizations for editing G/L account master records are set in your user master record.
    To restrict access to a G/L account master record, enter a key in the Authorization field in the company code area of the master record.
    Prerequisites: You have to define authorizations before you can limit access to a G/L account master record. You can find these settings in Financial Accounting Customizing under Financial Accounting Global Settings->Maintain Profiles .

  • Group Assets IT - Depreciation

    Hi All,
    I am calculating Depreciation on Assets based on Income tax act of India.
    Based on this the assets purchased less than 180 days should 50% depreciation charged.
    this is running fine when I calculate the depreciation on Individual Assets.
    But Client request for Groups Assets, So I assigned the Groups assets.
    In case of Groups Assets. Depreciation for the assets less than 180 days also it is calculating the 100 % Dep.
    Any one know how to solve this. Is there any settings needs to be change?

    hi,
    hope to get advice by point form.
    1 may i know why acquisition account and accumulated depreciation account is reconciliation account?
    does it mean both of them is reported in GL whereas the asset is in asset module just like customer number sitting in AR and customer recon account sitting in GL?
    2 may i know why accumulated depreciation account is a reconciliation account? i know that depreciation account is p&l but why accumulated depreciation account is a recon account?

    Hi,
    Asset acquisition is similar to customer/vendor in the way that it really does not matter what is the actual asset you are buying as far as finance is concerned.  As long as depreciation is going to be similar, all the assets in that depreciation bracket can be grouped together.  Hence at the ledger level it is just 1 balance sheet account for similar kind of assets.  Hence asset acquisition account is a balance sheet account/recon account and this is assigned to the asset.
    Similarly cumulative depreciation is a provision for depreciation account and also it is the depreciation for the total life period of the asset.  Hence it cannot be P/L account as it will include all the fiscal years and is not just an expense.  It is a liability.  Hence it is a balance sheet account.  Moreover similar to acqusisition account it can be common for all similar kind of assets.  Hence it is an asset recon account.

    the assignment from operational chart of accounts to group chart of accounts is done in OB13. Follow the steps in Customizing IMG FIn. Acc. (new) / Consolidation preparation (new) / General specifications / G/L and FS Charts of accounts...

  • Vendor Reconciliation & Asset Reconciliation Account

    I am a little confused regarding the reconciliation accounts.
    We are making for Asset Config settings for down payment posting.  I selected downpayment account for Asset Downpayment in AO90; but the system says the GL is not a reconciliation account.
    When I saw the GL account, it is created as a Vendor Reconciliation account.
    But in AO90 I think, we should give an Asset Reconciliation Account, right ?
    If that is the case, why we should have separate reconciliation account for Vendor and Asset in Downpayment posting for Assets ?
    When we post the Vendor Downpayment in F-48 using Spl. GL indicator 'A' , we are assigning the PO number also where asset is linked.
    Spl-GL 'A' is linked to a reconciliation account for vendor.
    Asset downpayment is also linked to a reconciliation account for asset.
    If that is the case, which downpayment account, the advance amount for asset is posted ?

    I personally dont like updating the Down Payments for assets in Asset Accounting.. It is inviting troubles w/o much of value-add.. If you post DP to asset, then Invoice and you dont clear the DP, the depreciation is calculated on Invoice amount + DP Amount
    Ofcourse, it gets adjusted in future depreciation runs once you clear DP. But if you clear in subsequent FY, then thats a problem
    In order to avoid updating DP in AA, follow the below steps
    1. Create a new FSG as a copy of G067 in which you will suppress the Asset Number
    2. Assign this FSG in Vendor recon accounts
    3. Do F-47 and enter the PO Number..
    4. System will give an error msg F5 378..
    5. Suppress it in OBA5, and you are done..
    I remember this till date because this was one of my initial findings / learnings in my SAP Career ;-)

    I have researched your issue and note 1063792 should resolve it. The
    SAP_APPL that it is included in is SAPKH60011. I recommend you to upgrade to the latest support package available to avoid eventual errors.
    For program errors you should open a support ticket in the SAP Service Market place.

  • Link-Group Asset Class, Depreciation Area & Depreciation Key

    Dear Experts,
    I am new to FI-AA Customization & have a basic query about Group Asset Concept.
    I am working on Ecc 6.0 & for Country India.
    I want to create Group Asset for calculation of Depreciation as per Income Tax Act.  Hence there is just one Depreciation Area (for Group Assets) , but the Depreciation keys are different.  E.d IN1, IN2 etc. (Country Version India)
    Now the questions are :
    1) Do we need to create different Asset Class for different Group Assets or to create just 1 Asset Class for all Group Assets.
    E.g. I want to calculate Depreciation As per income Tax Act on Gross Block of Building, Furniture & Fixture, Motor Car, Vehicles etc. So I need to create separate Group Asset Class for each one of above or just to create one Group Asset Class.
    2) If we need to create just one Asset Class for all Group Assets; how to maintain a Depreciation Key in OAYZ as there are more than 1 Depreciation Keys?
    3) is there any other method / functionality to calculate Depreciation as per income Tax Act or Group Asset is the only functionality?

    Looking at your Questions let us take explanation for Group Assets :-
    1 ) We need to create new different asset class for Group Class in OAOA. Then permit the depreciation area for only Group Asset in OAYM as it is in your current scenario India  is Depreciation Area 15 Just select your company code in OAYM and check the Grp Asset field for respective area 15. Then go to OAAX here we have to maintain the assets classes particularly for Group Assets. So check your Group Asset classes for Group Assets. Cerate different Group asset classes for your said requirement.
    In these depreciation areas, it is then possible to make an assignment to a group asset.  You make this assignment in the specifications for the depreciation area in the asset master record.  When you post an acquisition to this kind of asset, the system duplicates the line items from this depreciation area on the given group asset.
    2 ) According to me you have to create different depreciation keys for Group Asset classes. Assign the Depreciation keys to your newly created Group Asset Classes in OAYZ and make sure you are deactivating 01 area which is Book Depreciation area.
    3 ) As far as I know this is the only functionality available to handle Group Assets. How ever SAP does not have any standard Group Assets functionality. SAP does not supply asset classes to be used solely for group assets. It is we have to determine as per varying Business Process.

  • India Tax Depreciation (group asset)

    Hi FICO experts,
        I'm having some problem with depreciation calculation for group assets to adhere to India IT Tax Depreciation  regulation. As per IT law,
      1. asset acquired <180days shall be depreciated at 1/2 of the depreciation rate for the fiscal year
      2. asset acquired >180days shall be depreciated at full rate for the fiscal year
        I've created depreciation key with period control NL and IT, and configure 2 depreciaiton area i.e 01 for book and 02 for tax depreciation in India COD. 02-Tax depreciation is configured as managed at Group asset.
        I created 2 Assets i.e Asset A and Asset B and both linked to Group Asset C. Say the depreciation rate is 15%
    1. Asset A - Acquired on P1 of 2008 --> INR10000
    2. Asset B - Acquired on P9 of 2008 --> INR10000
       A & B are linked to Group Asset C in 02-Tax depreciation area.
         When I view Group Asset depreciation, I noticed that the deprecition for 2008 computed as (1000015%)+(1000015%). Thus, although Asset B is still being depreciated at full rate of 15% instead of half of the rate.
        Besides, is that normal that I'm not able to see depreciation at Asset A and Asset B in tax depreciation area 02 when they are managed at Group. I can only view the deprecation at Group asset C?
        Appreciate help if anyone have similar experience. Thank you in advance.

    If you want to adhere Indian IT laws then follow the below mentioned steps:
    1. Maintain a relationship of 1:1 of AS01 & AS21, means when you create a new normal asset it should be tagged with a new group asset.
    2. Try to use SAP standard delivered dep. keys.
    3. Change asset value date determination in SPRO.
    4. Tagged group asset into the normal asset master.
    5. Check tax dep.figures under group asset.

  • Calculation of Depreciation for Group Asset

    Hi Experts,
    I am getting a problem while doing depreciation for group asset
    Ex:  80,000;  Rate 10%
    total depreiaiton p.a is Rs 8000/-
    as per the Indian standards if it is below 180 days it should take Rs 4000/-, but in my system it is showing Rs 3333.33
    my depreciation start date & capitlization date is 01.11.2007.

  • Blocking vendor for PO creation if Accounting view is not maintained.

    Is it possible to restrict RFQ or PO creation against vendor if accounting view is not maintained by account dept.
    I dont want to block it in MK06 or XK06 or in source list.
    Is there any user exit for this?

    Use BAdi "ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST" and write the code under Interface "PROCESS_HEADER".
    Following is the sample code for the same.
    data t_lifnr type lfb1-lifnr.
