Group By clause while using a Sequence Generator

Hello, I am performing the following query
Select c1,c2,c3,sequence_number.nextval,
sum(c4)
from table
group by c1,c2,c3,sequence_number.nextval
My problem is that when I run this query on our 8.1.5 databases it works with no issues however when I perform this on our newly upgraded 8.1.7 database I am getting the following error: ORA-02287: sequence number not allowed here
Any insight into if this is a bug or feature would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff

You maybe test with this...
Hello, I am performing the following query
Select c1,c2,c3,sequence_number.nextval,
sum(c4)
from table
group by c1,c2,c3,sequence_number.currval
if you put sequence_number.nextval in the group by you are producing the next sequence. with the currval, you get the actual sequence.

    Hi Sashi,
For a bc4j view object, the shape of the result set needs to be consistent. So, there can not be a groupby directly in the result set.
However, that does not prevent you from inserting a calculated column that performs a similar calculation.
Another mechanism might be to consider a master detail arrangement of the views where the master contains an aggregation of data from its children. You are then free to access and display this data as you choose.
    Hope this helps,
    Pete

  • Using a variable in "arrayTerminatedBy" clause while using a file adapter

    Hi All,
How can read a file of sample shown below using a file adapter.
    ABC|20081010|
    2008|xxxxxxx|
    2007|yyyy|
    2009|zzzzzzz|
    3|20081010|
    first line is the header
    last line is footer
    middle portion is the body
'3' in the footer is the total no of record count in the body
I am able to read the header and body.
The problem i am facing is; when it is reading the footer it is treating the footer as a record in the body and is throwing an error stating - expected the format as "yyyy"
I have to use "arrayTerminatedBy" to indicate the end of the body. But that terminating field is a varying field. How can i use this variable field in the "arrayTerminatedBy" clause.
Can any one help in reading this file
    Thanks in advance

See if this helps, I haven't tested it but it will give you a hint in how to achieve it. As you can see I use the startsWith command. I'm not sure how to handle your detail as it seems to start with different elements every time.
    cheers

  • Publication while using %SI_DOCUMENT_NAME% , name generated is not correct

    All,
When using a publication containing 2 reports i am trying to setup the destination with the name of the report that would be exported to a specific folder.
everything is working great, however the name of the report that is generated is giving me some challenge such as:
when in the DEstination section you either use: Use Automatically Generated Name
or the option use specific with the variable %SI_DOCUMENT_NAME% then it is generating
    something as the following:
    Reportnamex3A 36433.wid
However I want only to see reportname but not the rest of it.
    Any idea ?
    Philippe

I'm having the same problem while publishing several similar webi reports in one single publication (BOE 3.1).
The %SI_DOCUMENT_NAME% is exactly the same as if i choose the automatically generated report name. I can't find any support note on this issue.

  • Sequence Generator problem in OWB Mapping

    Hi,
I am using a Sequence Generator in my Dimension mapping. And OWB implements the mapping via an Oracle MERGE statement.
However when I execute the mapping my sequence number value gets incremented even when there are only updates and no inserts taking place during the execution.
I am using the sequence number only for inserts and not for updates in the mapping.
Is there a way to avoid this situation or a work around to this problem? This is very urgent and any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
I also have the same problem as I loose the seq numbers when there are updates only and I do not want to loose thousands of seq numbers. I tried with bulk size =1 as well as row based only execution but no result.
The thing which solved this problem is to have outer join with source and target, then use splitter to find out new and updated records (by looking the join key as null on target table side), then use a fuction to generate seq number when the key is not null. But doing all this does not seem to be elegant performance point of you. I do not want to join source and target due to performance issues.
Could you pl clrify your apprach. Are you using , Source minus target and Source Intersect Target . What you will do if there is no one to one matching between source and the target.
    Thanks

  • CMP PK Sequence generated by Bean Self Cache !!

    Hi All,
In WL6.1, one can mention the name of the sequence and the DB in the cmp-rdbms-jar.xml
to use the sequence generated number to use as a primary key.
Though my work is being done by the WL server but still WL server is hitting the
    DB for each insert.
There are a couple of discussions listed on theserverside.com, but most of them
    fail for a clustered environment.
Can anyone please suggest me a solution where the WL server would cache the keys
instead of hitting the DB for each insert ?
Thanks in advance for your help !!
    Regards
    -Rais

    Hi,
    I performed a test and ran 3 scenarios(inserting 1000 records).
    1. SEQUENCE INCREMENT BY 10 And key-cache-size = 1.
    Time taken = 13 seconds
    Records were inserted as 1,11,21,31.....
    2. SEQUENCE INCREMENTED BY 10 And key-cache-size = 10
    Records were inserted as 1,2,3,4,5...
    Time = 8 seconds
    3. SEQUENCE INCREMENTED BY 1 And key-cache-size = 10
I got the duplicate primary key problem.
The behaviour in case 2 is ambiguous to me...I was expecting the records to be
    inserted as 1,11,21,31.....
    Can anyone please clarify ??
    Thanks

    Hi Rob,
The weblogic Docs and the DTD says that "key-cache-size" should be equal
    to the
INCREMENT VALUE of the Sequence in DB.Lemme point out what I have interpreted
from that. Please correct me if I am wrong.
    lets say my sequence is
CREATE SEQUENCE TEMP_SEQ INCREMENT BY 2.
And my key-cache-size value is also 2.
I believe that by keeping these two values equal, records would be inserted
    into
    the DB as 1,3,5,7......
But in a clustered environment, each CMP would still be hitting the DB
    to get the
    sequence number.
What I mean to say is key-cache-size is actually not meant for caching
    the sequence
    numbers.
Even if it is ,how would the servers in the cluster maintain the same
    state of
    their individual cache same ??

  • Group by clause and having clause in select

    hi frnds
plz give me some information of group by and having clause used in select statement with example
    thanks

The Open SQL statement for reading data from database tables is:
    SELECT      <result>
      INTO      <target>
      FROM      <source>
      [WHERE    <condition>]
      [GROUP BY <fields>]
      [HAVING   <cond>]
      [ORDER BY <fields>].
The SELECT statement is divided into a series of simple clauses, each of which has a different part to play in selecting, placing, and arranging the data from the database.
You can only use the HAVING clause in conjunction with the GROUP BY clause.
    To select line groups, use:
    SELECT <lines> <s1> [AS <a1>] <s2> [AS <a2>] ...
                   <agg> <sm> [AS <am>] <agg> <sn> [AS <an>] ...
           GROUP BY <s1> <s2> ....
           HAVING <cond>.
The conditions <cond> that you can use in the HAVING clause are the same as those in the SELECT clause, with the restrictions that you can only use columns from the SELECT clause, and not all of the columns from the database tables in the FROM clause. If you use an invalid column, a runtime error results.
On the other hand, you can enter aggregate expressions for all columns read from the database table that do not appear in the GROUP BY clause. This means that you can use aggregate expressions, even if they do not appear in the SELECT clause. You cannot use aggregate expressions in the conditions in the WHERE clause.
As in the WHERE clause, you can specify the conditions in the HAVING clause as the contents of an internal table with line type C and length 72.
    Example
    DATA WA TYPE SFLIGHT.
    SELECT   CONNID
    INTO     WA-CONNID
    FROM     SFLIGHT
    WHERE    CARRID = 'LH'
    GROUP BY CONNID
    HAVING   SUM( SEATSOCC ) > 300.
      WRITE: / WA-CARRID, WA-CONNID.
    ENDSELECT.
This example selects groups of lines from database table SFLIGHT with the value ‘LH’ for CARRID and identical values of CONNID. The groups are then restricted further by the condition that the sum of the contents of the column SEATSOCC for a group must be greater than 300.
The <b>GROUP BY</b> clause summarizes several lines from the database table into a single line of the selection.
The GROUP BY clause allows you to summarize lines that have the same content in particular columns. Aggregate functions are applied to the other columns. You can specify the columns in the GROUP BY clause either statically or dynamically.
    Specifying Columns Statically
To specify the columns in the GROUP BY clause statically, use:
    SELECT <lines> <s1> [AS <a 1>] <s 2> [AS <a 2>] ...
                   <agg> <sm> [AS <a m>] <agg> <s n> [AS <a n>] ...
           GROUP BY <s1> <s 2> ....
To use the GROUP BY clause, you must specify all of the relevant columns in the SELECT clause. In the GROUP BY clause, you list the field names of the columns whose contents must be the same. You can only use the field names as they appear in the database table. Alias names from the SELECT clause are not allowed.
All columns of the SELECT clause that are not listed in the GROUP BY clause must be included in aggregate functions. This defines how the contents of these columns is calculated when the lines are summarized.
    Specifying Columns Dynamically
To specify the columns in the GROUP BY clause dynamically, use:
    ... GROUP BY (<itab>) ...
where <itab> is an internal table with line type C and maximum length 72 characters containing the column names <s 1 > <s 2 > .....
    Example
    DATA: CARRID TYPE SFLIGHT-CARRID,
          MINIMUM TYPE P DECIMALS 2,
          MAXIMUM TYPE P DECIMALS 2.
SELECT   CARRID MIN( PRICE ) MAX( PRICE )
    INTO     (CARRID, MINIMUM, MAXIMUM)
    FROM     SFLIGHT
    GROUP BY CARRID.
      WRITE: / CARRID, MINIMUM, MAXIMUM.
    ENDSELECT.

  • Subquery in GROUP BY CLAUSE

Is it possible to place a subquery in the GROUP BY CLAUSE? If it is, can anyone show me an example? thanks

    Hi,
Here's a GROUP BY clause that uses an IN-subquery:
    SELECT    COUNT (*)     AS cnt

              ELSE  2
           END
;I've never seen a need for this (and I've been to a state fair, a rodeo and a picnic!)
Interestingly, if I copy the expression from the GROUP BY clause to the SELECT clause:

                             WHERE     loc     = 'NEW YORK'
              THEN  1
              ELSE  2

    ;I get this error:

  • How to use order by within Group by clause

    Hi All,
I need a help as to how should i use the Order by clause so that the data should be in order with respect to one column, and at the same time whole data is grouped by some other column...like
Select RaceNo,Venue,FP,BP from Race group by RaceNo
Here I want to order by FP in ascending order for each group. When i am using it , whole order is changing.
Can anybody suggest me how to use order by clause that would apply to each group of data.
    Thanks .

order by clause should be used at the last in any query.......but in group by clause u can't use use that becoz u group according to column then no ordering is needed there......if u want to filter something then u can use having clause and later if u need to arrange then u can use order by clause.........
i hope this eg.l gives u some clarification....
    e.g
    select deptno,count(empno)
    from dept
    group by deptno
    having count(empno) > 10
    order by deptno

  • Error while using Noetix Generator for OBIEE 11.1.1.6.8

    Hi Gurus,
We are trying to implement Noetix views for OBIEE 11.1.1.6.8 using Noetix generator for oracle business intelligence,, but we are facing below error..
    Please help, thanks in advance.
    " *Validation encountered following warnings..*
*Could not verify server version. Double check that your server version matches the target specified.*
*Cause: access denied for user to path /system/version*. "

    Hi,
I'm the Director of Engineering at Noetix that is responsible for Noetix Generator for OBIEE.
Noetix Generator utilizes OBI's web services in order to validate that your OBI admin client and server have matching versions. The validation error you're seeing appears to be caused by a permission issue while accessing the "/system/version" folder of your web catalog through that web service.
One thing you could check is the OBI account you're using in Noetix Generator to access the BI Server. That account should have administrative privileges in OBI.
I also noticed that you're attempting to use OBI 11.1.1.6.8, which we don't currently support. Your existing version of Noetix Generator may work with it, but we won't claim official support until we certify our generator against it. That will come in a future release.
Please contact Noetix Support at http://support.noetix.com if you need additional information. Our support staff can assist you in resolving this issue.
    Thanks,
    Jay Shipley

  • Error while deleting Cash Journal (Numbering group 1001 can be used only for one CoCd and cash journal number)

    Hi,
While i am try to delete Cash Journal system throws me error (Message No.:FCJ065: Numbering group 1001 can be used only for one Co. Code  and Cash Journal). Kindly provide me solution on that.
    Regards,
    Tarak

    Hi Tarak,
You can use the config nodes in SPRO to set up number ranges for your cash journal documents.
    IMG Path> FI Global Settings>Bank Accounting>Business transactions>Cash Journal
Define Number Range Intervals for cash Journal documents
    Define Numbering Groups
Define Number Ranges for numbering groups
After defining the number group here, you assign that in "Set up Cash Journal" Check if there is any clash anywhere in your configuration for different cash Journals.
