GRPO not posting to Purchase Variance Account

SBO Version: 8.82 PL05
Forum,
I have the following scenario:
The Goods Return was not created from a Goods Receipt PO, however its value was €249.83  and this is the value shown on
the open item list.
The journal posting relating to this return details a value of €260.77. Thus we have an imbalance between the open item list
and our general ledger.
The €260.77 represents the standard cost of the returns and this is the value we would have expected to have been credited to stock. €249.83 should have been debited to Accruals GRNI Stock and the difference should have been written off to Purchase Price Variance and historically we can demonstrate that this is what has happened.
Would anyone be able to assist?
Orla

Hi Orla,
If the Goods Return is independent from GRPO, do they share the same posting date?
Thanks,
Gordon

  • Good Receipt is posted to price variance account instead of Inventory account

    Dear All,
My client have a PO with three materials. All those materials have been assigned to same valuation class. Client has posted GR for this PO and one material has been recorded a misbehavior when selecting the accounts. That mean, it has been ignored the inventory account and instead value has been posted to price variance account. So the debit entry in price variance and credit entry in GR/IR.
But other two material has the automatic posting to correct account as Debit to Inventory and Credit to GR/IR.
Could you pls help me to find the reason for this.

    Sujith

    Dear Vivek and Dev,

    Dear Gurus,
I have a query, I have defined an account in KDM. After the GR of the PO, if there is a difference in Exchange Rate system posts the Exchange Rate Difference to the Stock Account.
My client wants this this difference at the time of MIRO should be posted to the KDM account. I am invoicing in my Company Code Currency not in PO currency this is also a requirement.
Kindly provide me a solution for this.
    Regards,

If material price is standard then only KDM account will account.

  • Exchange Rate is not posting to respective GL account

    Hello,
My user is trying to post Invoice receipt at rate 0.6(Ex.Rate) for $.1000 on June 10. Then post Goods receipt on June 12 system rate is 0.7 but system is taking current rate and not IR rate. If it takes current rate it is also OK but it is not posting to exchange gain or loss account.
Can anyone help me out in this error....
    Regards
    KK

    Dear Krishna,
During MIRO postings, if any exchange gain or loss arise then it is treated as Price Difference Account and goes to the G/L Account you have configured in PRD Key in OBYC TCode. If it is not configured then SAP posts this exchange gain / loss amount on the original expense or stock G/L Account which would have been used in MIGO (Goods Receipt) posting.
Realized Exch Gain / Loss Amount is only posted when you carry out the payments to vendors. However you can create unrealized exch gain / loss using TCode FAGL_FC_VAL as a monthly process to meet your GAAP Requirement.

  • F.05 Foreign Currency valuation not posted automaticall to GL account.

    Hi,
When we are running F.05 the GL account  3170700 u2013 Gds Recd not Invoiced GRAN is not posting automatically.
Though the GL account is matained in TO30H table and included in the variant that using for F.05 run.
Kindly help me to understand what would be the root cause for not posting automatically.
    Thanks,
    Hari.

    Hi,
If you have a G/L account which have open item management feature, system calculate valuation for each open line items.
For example 2000100 G/L account has open item management and their line items like below.
My local currency is TRY and I posted all items in EUR after that I valuating this line items.
    A. line items
Doc Currency Amount : 1.000.000,00 EUR
    Posting date exchange rate : 2,00000 (EUR/TRY)
Posting date local currency amount : 2.000.000,00 TRY
    End-of-month exhange rate : 2,50000 (EUR/TRY)
    Difference : 500.000,00 TRY
    B. line items
Doc Currency Amount : 2.000.000,00 EUR
    Posting date exchange rate : 2,20000 (EUR/TRY)
Posting date local currency amount : 4.400.000,00 TRY
    End-of-month exhange rate : 2,50000 (EUR/TRY)
    Difference : 600.000,00 TRY
System calculate and post valuation for each line items and system using balance sheet adjustment account for posting. If you manage your account (like 200100) with open item, you couldn't post valuation on this account. System using balance sheet adjustment account and loss/gain account for posting. You can customizing this steps via OBA1 (then choose KDF).
In same account, If you don't manage with open item, system valuating the balance. In this example 3000101001 account has 3.000.000,00 EUR balance amount. When you execute F.05 with option "Valuate G/L account Balances" you can see only one line items for each account and their currency on F.05 output.
    A. line items
Total Foreign Currency Amount : 3.000.000,00 EUR
Total Local currency amount : 6.400.000,00 TRY
    End-of-month exhange rate : 2,50000 (EUR/TRY)
    Difference : 1.100.000,00 TRY
Then when you post the valuation document, system using 200100 account and loss/gain account for posting

  • GR posted to Price Variance account

    Hi Experts,
I have a material whose price control indicator is "V", Moving price is $1, Total Stock is zero, Price Unit is 1, Standard price is 1, Total value is zero in material master.
I have created standard PO with two line items.
Line 10 is for the quantity of 1 PC at the rate of $100 per PC.
Line 20 is for the quantity of 1 PC at the rate of $100 per PC. Additionally line 20 is account assigned Q "Proj. make-to-order". No other differences.
I have posted GR for line 10. Accounting details are Stock account $100 and GR/IR clearing account $100.
I have posted GR for line 20. Accounting details are Stock account $1, GR/IR clearing account $100 and Price variance account $99.
Any guess why the system posted line 20 in price variance account?
    Thanks,
    Ranjith

    Hi,
I have a material whose price control indicator is "V", Moving price is $1, Total Stock is zero, Price Unit is 1, Standard price is 1, Total value is zero in material master.
its indicate that you have two material code price control V and S but situation is that both material don't have stock and price is same 1$
Now when you do MIG) for second material which has price control S and Po  price is 100$
means you have price difference of 99$ ( po price -Material price)
so it will price difference account and its SAP standard
check following sap link also with example

  • Why can I not post from my main account?

I had to create a second account to post from - any idea why I get a "user xxxxx is not allowed to post"

    Hi,
There is one forum that I know that might give you that response.
That is the Users Tips Contribution Forum
It is supposed to need Level 2 attainment before you can access it - but as the Discussions are becoming Apple Support Communities it may have been changed to Read only.
Sometimes the Hosts do "Ban" someone from posting dues to too many infringements of the Terms of Use
If this happens the person involved should get an email explaining this to the address the used to register the Account/ID.
(It can get sent to any new Email that has been changed in the Posters Profile and sometimes it then gets sent to both).
I must admit I had not thought, at all, about whether a banned Poster can actually still read the Discussions. (I had presumed their Login no longer worked.)

  • Deductions not posting to the Customer account

    Hello Everyone,
I am doing testing for Lockbox and having issues with customer deductions. when I upload a Lockbox file into SAP it properly identifies the various line items based on the invoice numbers but our customers sometimes include deductions on the checks as well, which is a regular practice on their part.
These deductions are listed as separate line items in the Lockbox file, the issue is instead of posting as a debit to the customer account the deductions are going to Gl # 4****00 which is a Unprocessed customer deduction account. ( This GL A/C is defined in Transaction OBXL)
Is there a way to have these deductions go to the customer account instead of posting to the GL.
    Thank You.

    Hi,
If the example entry like below
    Dr Bank/Cash a/c          970
    Dr Pymt Diff. a/c            30
    Cr Customer a/c                        1000
The difference amount is captured at both GL and Customer level right?
Then, why in your case only it is going to a GL account

  • Variance in MIRO can not post to stock account (price control:MAP)

    Hi, all
As I know, if there is variance between PO price and INVOICE, the variant value will be posted to the stock account, if material with Moving Average Price.
But when I test this process in my system(4.6C), the variance was posted to a variance account(by TE: DIF), the stock quantity is not less than the Invoice quantity.
    Why this happen?
Does this is some bug in my system???
Thanks very much for your help.
    Shafiat.G

    Hello
For a material valuated at a moving average price, the price difference is posted to the stock account, provided there is sufficient stock coverage for the quantity invoiced. If sufficient stock coverage is not available, only the amount for the available quantity is posted to the stock account; the remaining amount is posted to a revenue or expense account.

  • "Price difference" being journaled to "Variance Account"

Per the online help in B1 8.8, the "Price Difference Account" in the G/L Account Determination: Inventory Tab window "price differences between the base and target documents are recorded in this account."
When I create a Purchase Order for an item, then copy to an A/P Invoice and change the price, the difference between the PO price and the Invoice price is posted to the "Variance Account", not the "Price Difference Account", per the documentation. I have confirmed that the description of the "Variance Account" function is happening correctly, that is, when the price differs from the standard cost the difference is posted to the "Variance Account".
    Can someone help with this?

    Gordon,
I only put the "Variance Account" here for reference. My issue relates to the "Price Difference Account". Rather than a difference in price from Purchasing documents going to the "Price Difference Account", it is going to the "Variance Account".
This should be what is commonly called "Invoice Price Variance". The "Variance Account" is used for what is commonly called the "Purchase Price Variance". It appears in 8.8 that both variances are going to the same account even though documentation implies differently.
The following exerpt from the online documentation is not how the system is working:
    "Price Difference Account
Used in purchasing transactions only. For certain scenarios, price differences between the base and target documents are recorded in this account."
To recreate this scenario (Invoice Price Variance),
    1) Put two different accounts in "Administration | Setup | Financials | G/L Account Determination" on the inventory tab under "Variance Account" and "Price Difference Account."
    2) Enter a Purchase Order for a Standard Cost Item enter a Qty of 1 and Price of $1,000.
    3) Copy the Purchase Order to an Invoice and change the price to $900.
The journal entry that is created includes a $100 entry to the "Variance Account" set up above.
The alternate variance (Purchase Price Variance) can be recreated as follows:
    1) Set the standard cost of an item to $1,000
    2) Enter a Purchase Order for the Standard Cost Item enter a Qty of 1 and Price of $900.
    3) Copy the Purchase Order to an Invoice and do not change the price.
The journal entry that is created includes a $100 entry to the "Variance Account" again.
These two scenarios should post to different accounts as described in the online help under G/L Account Determination.

  • Purchase Variance Tracking

    Hi Everyone,
My customer's accountant is looking for a report that would track the Purchase Variance Account.
For example, our customer is using Moving Average as their Valuation Method.  They may receive items using A/P Goods Receipt PO's and may ship it out on a customer delivery before receiving the A/P Invoice in the mail and entering it into SAP.  When this occurs, any price difference is booked to the Purchase Variance Account instead of the Inventory Account.  This makes sense as you do not want to adjust the value of your inventory as you no longer actually have it in inventory.
I also know that you may run a general ledger report by the purchase variance account and see a list of all of the invoices, production orders, etc. that have hit this account.  However, my customer's accountant would like more details.  He would like to know the specific item that is causing the variance.  Some of their invoices have more than 100 lines, so to do this manually is challenging.
Is there anyway to create this report?  Or is there already a standard one that I have not found?
    I appreciate your help.
    Amanda

One question related to Cut-Off period regarding WIP calculation which myself and Ajay were discussing 15 days  back..
Is it required to change the cut-off everymonth when we calculate WIP . In my client.. then donot do that .. but still we calculate the WIP..
Is the significance of cut-off period is to tell the system the first period to calculate WIP .. during implementation .. My client never changes that and its in a MTS ( Process Order Senario )... but calculates WIP every month.
    Regards
