GTX 660 TF 2GD5 works in 8x bus interface instead of 16x

Hallo, the issue that I'm having is that my GPU (MSI GTX 660) is reported to be working in x8 bus interface, not the x16. I have checked and the card is seated in the upper PCIE slot, which is supposed to be giving x16 interface, and I have no secondary GPU, that slot is empty.

    Hi there,
just bought a MSI Geforce GTX 660 TF 2GD5/OC with and Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 mainboard. Installed Windows 7 x64 without any problems. All the drivers work but when I try to install the Nvidia drivers it just says there isn't a compatible graphics card available. Upgrade my motherboards BIOS to 1708 which is the latest one. Still didn't make it work. Hope that anybody can help me because I want to start gaming!

  • MSI GTX 660 TF 2GD5/OC (SLI) Running at 50% Core clock

    Hello there,
In my home setup, I have two MSI GTX 660 TF 2GD5/OC cards installed in my Mainboard (ASRock 970 Extreme4) in an SLI configuration (together with a bridge, of course). I would say that everything is running fine.
Though, with 3D mark, my core clock seems to be clocking in at 549 Mhz
    http://www.3dmark.com/fs/738108
While in the official specifications, 1098 seems the normal rate (hm, that is exactly 50% slower).
    http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N660-TF-2GD5-OC.html#/?div=Specification
I am using the latest (BETA) Nvidia Driver 326.41 driver.
I have the feeling something is off, and my 3Dmark is actually a lot lower then it should be, since installing the 2nd card, my performance with Rise of the Triad 2013 and Super Street Fighter AE seems to have dropped (I can barely play in 3D anymore, while I had no problem doing so with a single card, and according to the Nvidia site, SSFIVAE supports 3D and SLI).
Can you guys give me some pointers what might be the problem? Thanks in advance!

  • 'No Signal' -- GTX 660 ti not working with a H-Joshua-H61-uATX motherboard

    Hi,
I have a HP pg 2302eam with an updated 550w PSU ready to run a gtx 660 ti GPU. However, I only get 'no signal' on my monitor.
As far as I'm aware, with the updated PSU, the PC should be fine to run the card.
Would there be a compatibilty issue with my motherboard? Or is there something I can do with my BIOS to help resolve this issue?
I see no options in the current (and latest v8) BIOS to disable the integrated graphics and run the new GPU from the pci slot.
    What could cause this issue?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
Have heard, if you have a UEFI Bios, you have enter BIOS, disable secure boot and enable legacy boot in order to enable the new video card. All things equal, this is assuming no power supply issues.
Not sure what OS you are using and could not find the model number you indicated in your post.
Lastly, it is good to uninstall current video drivers, shut down, install new card, then install new drivers upon successful reboot into the operating system.

  • GTX 660 TF 2GD5/OC - GOP / UEFI Vbios Request

    Hi,
I am looking to upgrade to the GOP BIOS on my GTX660 Twin Frozr card.

    Thanks for your answer

    Use the attached.
Decompress the provided .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Then flash the included file with Nvflash for dos: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/nvflash_download.html
To do so rename the included file to .rom and create a dos bootstick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0)
Put nvflash and the vbios file on it and boot from the stick. Then type nvflash -4 -5 -6 gop.rom (if renamed vbios that way) and hit enter. Confirm the questions and let the tool flash

  • [Tech Help Needed] GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC Fan Stops Working

    Hello everyone.
It's extremely rare for me to have computer issues, but this time it happened.
MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC, and here's the issue:
Whenever i turn on the computer the gpu fans spin for around 5seconds and after that they stop, for now they seem fine since i'm usually idling for the 1st 30minutes or so, but when i start playing games the gpu temperatures skyrocket to around 60-70 idling  in-game and the fans just won't start working, yes the the psu cables are connected to the gpu, bla bla ( duh ). i've had the gpu for around 2years and it worked fine but all of a "sudden" the fans just seem to not work and it starts getting very high temperatures, i've read someone complaining about the same issue and he was told to replace his gpu bios with some uefi bios and he said that the uefi update solved his fan issues which were the same as mine.
Now my problem is, i've never done that "Bios Flashing" and things like that and i don't know if my Board is compatible. If it worked for that person then it should work for me since the symptoms are literally the same. I've tried uninstalling the gpu drivers completely and installed again, the issue still persists.
If it's of any reference i own the following setup:
MB : ROG Asus Crosshair IV Formula
CPU : AMD Phenom II X6 1090T BE
GPU : MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr III 2GB SC
    RAM : 2x4GB G.Skill Ripjaw X 1600Mhz
PSU: Corsair GS 700 Gaming Series ( yes its more than enough and good enough )
I've literally had no problems whatsoever with my system for a few years now, and just like that the fans don't want to work, i can play games and what not, but at around 70ºC with no fans running ..... i've tried using MSI Afterburner to boost the fan speed, the fan speed setting gets set but the rpm stays at 0. i also made it to run on windows start and its still at 0 RPM.
Will the uefi bios solve my problem like it did to the other person with the exact same issue?
Thank you for your time spent reading, hopefully it will be solved.

Still no reply after 2 days, impressive support right there ... every other post that came after got replied ...
Anyway, if its also relevant about my issue :
    - Fans briefly spin after i press the power button to turn on my computer and stop right after around 3-5s and never spin again until i shutdown and power on again for the same brief spin.
    - If i force the fans on Afterburner to 90% or above ( 100% ) they spin and make unsupportable noise.
Also if its of any relevance :
    N660 TF 2GD5/OC
    S/N: 602 - V287 - 050B1302044857
At least provide me with the most up-to-date uefi/gop vbios or whatever that is, to see if it fixes my problem, otherwise recommend me a substitute cooling system that i can use ( a good one, not 3rd rated ) to replace the stock cooling in this because i don't have the money to get another card, and if i get one it won't be from msi for sure.
    Very dissapointed.

  • Q on GTX 660 not working in PremPro CS6 also SpeedGrade, heard of tab selection

I have a newly configured PC with a new GTX 660 video card with a new load of Premiere Pro and can not operate Premiere correctly or load Tiffen Dfx .....so I thought I had purchsed a higher performance card than those recommended ....also I've heard there was a Playback tab selection for utilizing non-offical video cards...Edit>Preferences>Playback    I don't see anything to re-config...Thanks from a flustered Barry

The feature you're talking about won't be available until the new version comes out June 17th.  For now, you will need to hack the file the old way to get CUDA acceleration working.

  • Will a MSI GeForce GTX 660 work on my HP Pavilion p6-2102ed?

    Hi all,
    I have a HP Pavilion p6-2102ed with the H-CUPERTINO2-H61-uA TX (Cupertino2) motherboard.
I would like to upgrade it with a MSI GeForce GTX 660.
Now is the big question: will they both work together?
I already read something about the powersupply. The videocard requires a six-pinned plug connected to a powersupply, which the p6-2102ed doesn't have.
1: How do I solve this? Do I have to buy an external powersupply? If so, what powersupply do you reccomend? Or can I just buy a powercable (with six pins) and connect it to the powersupply built in the p6-2102ed?
2: I read the MSI GeForce GTX 660 measures 260 mm long. I think it will fit in the case. So that won't be the problem I think.
3: Will the Bios accept the new videocard? Or do I have to adjust some settings in the Bios?
These are all of the issues that I can think of right now.
Please correct me if something I wrote is wrong and if you know more important information, please tell me!
    Thank you for helping me.

Hi seb_asian!: off the top of my head I can think of my ATI Radeon HD5570, the GeForce 240, the ATI Radeon 6570 they all will give you better performance won't either drain the PSU nor the electric bill either & they won't force your box to deploy extra fans trying to cool it down.
OK other last generation cards will give you better performance on the one hand but you may not be able to play the current games either which takes advantage of whatever state-of-the-art technology the card may contain
& slso they'll will run hotter because everything is a bit bigger transistor wise (a 50nm card vs a 30nm model as an example)
    good luck
hope this helps & enlightens you

  • MSi GTX 660 2GD5/OC randomly stops outputting video.

While playing Star Trek Online and Champions Online, this graphics card will randomly stop outputting video with no warning. It has also crashed Windows completely on three of these occasions. The card never recovers and the only way to fix it is a hard reset. This problem has persisted over five different iterations of nVidia's drivers, both beta and WHQL.
I've already sent this card in for service to correct this problem and, upon receiving it from MSi's service center yesterday, encountered the same problem again in both games. Both times I installed it into my P67A-GD65 motherboard, I made sure the video drivers from my previous dedicated GPU and integrated HD 4000 were completely uninstalled via Control Panel and Guru3D's Driver Sweeper program.
Is there anyone here who's had similar experiences and can offer some troubleshooting advice? I've already edited my Windows 7 registry to manually adjust the frame time out and recovery period, to no effect.

List full system specifications, see >>Posting Guide<<
2 cards to crash by the same way, probably is not video card problem but something else in your PC
Power Supply: Kingwin Maximum Power ABD-850MM 850W
    Motherboard: MSi P67A-GD65 LGA1155
    Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K @ 3.5 GHz
    RAM: Corsair 4 GB DDR3 @ 1600 MHz
I highly doubt it was my system, because I had a PowerColor AMD Radeon HD 7850 in the same PCI-e slot that worked flawlessly at maximum clock. The MSi GTX 660 crashed in both PCI-e slots at factory stock speeds.

    Really thanks for feedback

just tried, i just got black screen and hangup, had to reset bios and swap graphic cards just to get to bios to turn super boot off.
no more your card dont support, now there is only black screen of death. i even tried to attach it to yamaha 3020 to chech if there is any signal and there was none. Without uefi gop everything works fine.
