How do I stop Guest Account from appearing on the login screen?

All of a sudden - like since I upgraded to iCloud - my login screen displays "Guest User". I have Guest disabled in Accounts. The only account I have active is mine. I don't want Guest to appear on the login screen. How do i stop it from doing so?

So I've been toying around with using systemd to manage user daemons and some oneshot processes, it seems like it could be really nice
Here's what I'm thinking I would like to do:
I would have two user targets, `console.target` and `graphical.target`.
The console target will start things like pulseaudio, ssh-agent (envoy), transmission, stuff like that.
The graphical target will start xorg and then other things like the WM, set the wallpaper.. you get the idea. Obviously the graphical target will want the console target.
Now, the part I wanted to get some feedback on is this: I would like a systemd --user instance to only be started once after my first login, not once per session.
So for example, I login from vt1 and it brings systemd --user up to the graphical.target. Then if I later SSH in from somewhere, it won't start a new systemd --user session (Ie, won't start pulse-audio, transmission-daemon, etc).
However, if I haven't logged into my machine yet and I SSH in, it will start up systemd --user and will start the console.target. If I then later login via vt1 it will see that there's already a systemd --user session started and start the graphical.target
Does this make sense? Is it a bad idea?

i have forms that have three different redirect based on user

Adding second backup client to time capsule after first has filled drive?

I'm trying to add a second Time Machine client to my Time Capsule. I've had it for a while and the first client has filled the drive. The problem is there isn't enough space free on the Time Capsule for the second client. Is there a way to free up some space so I can add the second client? How do I manage how much space gets allocated to each?

Hi swills. First, click the Time Machine Dock icon and enter the TM 'star field' interface. Then go all the way back to the oldest backups. Go up to the action menu (gear icon) and select "Delete Backup". Do this with several of the oldest backups. This will free up needed space.
Then you need to compact the existing disk image.
First, turn OFF Time Machine Backups on all Macs backing up to the Time Capsule (TC).
Next, open a Finder window and click on your TC in the Sidebar.
If you don't see a blue share folder, you may need to click the "Connect As..." button and enter your Time Capsules password. (Note: NOT your own username and password.)
Double-click the blue folder that appears in the finder window. The sparsebundle should now be visible. DO NOT mount it, just leave the window open.
Now, launch Terminal from the Utilities folder.
At the prompt type in:
+hdiutil compact+
...and then hit the Space bar so that there is a space after +hdiutil compact+.
Next, drag the sparsebundle in question from the Finder window into the Terminal window. This will complete the command.
Now, with the Terminal window in focus, hit Enter.
Eventually, you will see something like this...
+Starting to compact…+
+Reclaiming free space…+
+Finishing compaction…+
+Reclaimed 5.4 GB out of 217.9 GB possible.+
Repeat this procedure for each sparsebundle contained on your TC.
Finally, remember to turn Time Machine backups back ON on all Macs backing up to the TC.
Obviously, if the other Mac still does not have enough space for it's first backup then you will need to repeat the above to free up further space. let us know if this resolves your issue. Cheers!

Root account locked out after 3 login attempts

I've connected to a 280R (Solaris 9) machine through the console (null modem cable). After trying 3 failed login attempts, it reported that the root account has been locked out. When can I do now to re-enable it?

The usual dance. :-)
1. Put in a Solaris install CD
2. "boot -s " at the "ok" prompt.
3. mount /dev/c<your boot partition> /mnt
4. edit /mnt/etc/passwd
5. Reboot the system.
6. login as root
7. Set your password.
8. write it on a post-it.
9. place post-it on monitor.
I'm kidding with steps 8 and 9.

Slim configuration: allow auto login after first login exits

Hello Everyone,
I am new to archlinux, and am totally loving it so far. I am configuring slim for auto login and have been successfully able to do so. However, the first time I logout I am presented with a slim login prompt. Is there a way to disable that and just login with the default user again? I need this because I would be running this on an unattended machine (kiosk like) and I want my program to start all over again in case it crashes or something.

Guest Portal appears again after successful login

I'm setting a Wireless Guest with a WLC 5508 (7.3) and ISE (1.1.2) -- (no anchor).
It appears to work (still some adjustments are required), but I found when the guest user log in, it receives the successful login screen and inmediately the guest portal again. If another browser window or tab is open, the user can browse properly.
I think I'm missing something.

Sorry for the delay! Were you able to figure out what was/is causing this? I have done many deployments and never had this issue before, unless something was misconstrued in a custom HTML portal. Couple of more questions:
1. Do you have the latest patch installed
2. Have you tried adding a new portal based on the pre-built templates and try it again

IPhone/iPad connection error after first login ok: The request timed out. (-1001)

I have installed SAP 9.0 PL 12, DI API all version, Integration Component of the SAP 9.0 PL12.
On my iPhone I have the 1.10.1 version of the app SAP.
I followed the directions provided in the note (also in 1602674) and in the forum, but nothing.
I start my PC (server with integration installed), do all the tests possible dall'integration admin and I always correct results.
Start app from my iphone, it connects to my DB but.... after a few minutes I get the error
"Connection Failed - The request timed out. (-1001)"
and then throws me out of the db.
If I try to reconnect, re-entering the password I have always the same error.
To reconnect, I have to restart the PC and the situation repeats itself (is the first logon, then I get the error and I can not reconnect).
Can anyone help me?

Update: I only changed the startup type of the service DI Proxy, Event, Integration, and instead of putting 'Automatic' I selected 'Automatic (Delayed Start)'.
I rebooted the server and I was able to connect the iPhone via app to my DB: I was about an hour, I created BP, made changes, displayed report.
I then did the logoff.
I tried to reconnect but nothing is returned the error 'Connection Failed - The request timed out. (-1001)'.
Even after restarting the server again, the app connects after about two minutes I get the error 'Connection Failed - The request timed out. (-1001)' and is no longer relates only after you restart the server.

Gnome-shell extremely laggy after first login with xf86-video-ati

Hello!
I've recently switched from Catalyst to the open-source ati driver. However, after the switch gdm is extremely laggy after being started up on boot (using gdm.service) and after login gnome-shell is laggy as well. If I kill gdm or logout, the new gdm instance is speedy as it should be and after logging in gnome-shell runs fine.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

UPDATE: for some reason gnome-shell started by the 'laggy-started-on-boot' gdm instance takes up constantly more than 60% CPU.

seems that nobody got some experience in Gnome 3 yet...
i guess X is working well, it's just Gnome what causes the problem.
Had some issues as well with the screen resolution and solved it by playing arround with xranr.
Is the gnome shell running? (Try [alt]+[F2], is there a black dialog for entering commands?)

Taking long time on First login for some users

Dears,
We are facing very strange issue in our ECC6 server.
For some users when they login put userid and password it takes 15-20 min to login and sometimes give time out.
but after first login it works fine.
If I remove roles from those user and assign them SAP_ALL or one or two roles,they also work fine.
One more thing some other users having same authorization are working fine.
One solution of this issue I found to delete the user having problem and copy it with user who is working fine.
But not getting root cause of the issue and permanent solution of the issue.
Please suggest.

We just experienced the same problem after updating our SP-Stack.
Some users were experiencing a long logon time, and a long time to return to the Session Manager screen. Changing to the SAP Menu instead of the User Menu cleared the problem for those users, but they no longer had quick access to transactions that were in the User Menu, and not in the Favourites.
Note 203617 was not the answer for our problem, but it did point us in the right direction.
After upgrading our SP Stack last Friday, it appeared that some of the roles in the Customer Namespace (ie, zRoleName001) had inherited a copy of the Logistics or Accounting SAP menu trees. This meant that users with those roles ended up with a User Menu which contained the 10 or so transactions that are assigned to their roles, and additionally, the entire Logistics or Accounting Tree which contain 35,000+ items. In transaction SM66, users who are waiting for their logon to complete are shown doing a sequential read of table AGR_HIERT.
To correct this, I removed the Logistics and Accounting menu trees as appropriate from the User menu of those roles in PFCG. Users that use the User Menu can now logon normally.
This is what I did to troubleshoot:
* Pick one user that is experiencing long login times, and have them change to the SAP Menu instead of the User Menu. If their logon time improves, open transaction SE38, and run the program EASY_ACCESS_NUMBER_OF_NODES.
* Specify the user's account and click on Execute.
* If the program times out, chances are that they have an enormous number of items in their User Menu - continue with the next step.
* If the program finishes, look at the number of Menu Nodes for that user - Note 203617 says that a User Menu with 1000 or more items is considered "large" and will degrade logon performace as the User Menu buffer is constantly swapping in and out.
* Note each of their each of the user's roles from SU01, then check the Menu tab for each of those roles in PFCG to see if any roles are adding large sections of the SAP menu.
* If necessary, maintain the Role's Menu items in DEV, and transport to TEST, then Production. BE CAREFUL to ensure that the Users list is not modified when transporting the changes into Production, or the Role will become de-assigned from your Production users, and your users will hate you when they become unauthorised to open transactions.
* Once the User Menu is back to normal, the user can change back to the User Menu and everyone should be able to logon normally.

I'm very new to the Mac world so pardon this noob question. But how can I control what user accounts are visible on the login screen on OS X? I've already went into the System Preference, User Accounts and set the Guest account to disabled. However this account is still on the logon screen when I reboot the Mac! How can I remove this account and/or make sure that my user account is the only one visible?

ITunes behavior upon Guest account login

I normally use my computer under the Windows XP administrator account. However, I've been advised that this might not always be safe for various reasons. So I logged on using the built-in Guest account. ITunes launched automatically (there was a brief message about it "installing" itself) and scanned both my C and D drives for any and all music files, then it added them to the main library/playlist. The only problem I have with this is that music files on the D drive were copied into the iTunes folder on my C drive. Will I have to go back into the Guest account "version" of iTunes and re-point each duplicated song manually, then delete redundant copies on the C drive?

When I first got XP a few years back, I was given the same advice. I quickly learned that many things don't work right without admin permissions, even things that seemed they should. So I decided it was bad advice, and went back to running the regular way, in my admin account. If you are worried about security, make sure you are running anti-virus and anti-malware programs.

That would be a lot of work. It would be easier to go into Preferences, repoint the iTunes media folder location to where you want it, run Consolidate, and then clean out what you don't want. If you are planning this, first read the Help item on Consolidate so you understand what it will do.

Yosemite GM Candidate Installed - Guest account keeps being re-enable after reboot

Have the Yosemite GM Candidate Installed (been using 10.10 beta since about end of July). I've never had this issue prior to the GM Candidate.
I never enable the Guest account on the system (force login for a user, etc.). I disable the Guest account, reboot, and the Guest account is re-enabled and can be logged into. Disable it again, reboot - it's back.
Potential fix anyone is aware of?

Snow Leopard Guest Account Password Problems

After re-booting I found I was in the guest account. So after going into the accounts manager I clicked on my user account only to find it wants my password....but after entering it I get the shaker routine. After clicking on the padlock it won't recognize my password any more, so what to do now? I used my old Leopard disk to re enter the password, but it won't allow that either. I now have a Snow Leopard upgraded? machine which won't let me access it. What good is this thing now?

You can log into the admin account with the new login password you saved for it. You can then launch Keychain Access & change the password for that account's keychain to the same thing. Otherwise, every time you do something that requires a password saved in that keychain, you will be asked for the keychain's password.
There is nothing wrong with the utility app, just with your understanding of passwords & what they protect. The account's login password & those for any keychains it owns are different things & do not have to be the same -- they sometimes are not for increased security. For convenience, the default keychain is initially created with the account's password, but it isn't automatically reset to that value by the utility, again for security reasons.
You don't have to know this to follow the instructions Apple provides but if you want to learn more about it the built-in Help System provides that, or you can purchase a book like "Snow Leopard for Dummies" or one of the "Missing Manual" series for more in depth or simplified treatments of the subject.
