  • Results based on From and To value in Bex query designer.

    Dear all,
We are using BI7.00. In one of our report which pertains to PM user wants to get the details of number of breakdowns which falls in the value range 0 to 1 hours.
I created a condition which has 2 variables, one is From value and the other is for the To value (since user wants to enter both the limits). I have written a condition that if the breakdown hour is greater than or equal to variable1 and less than or equal to variable2.
Using the above condition if the query is run, i am not getting the desired output. The values avaialble in the report are 0.65,0.78,1.30,7.38,0 etc., when i give 0 to 1 i should get the values 0.65,0.78 and 0 but instead report displays "No valid results".
I changed the condition and selected "Between" variable 1 and variable 2 - yet no change in the query.
To my knowledge i foresee that system is not able to recognize the decimal and hence provides details only based on the whole numbers.
How to get my requirement achieved in the Bex query designer.
Experts suggestion with steps will be very useful to solve my problem.

    M.M

    Hi Magesh,
I think you could try one more way.
Create a formula inserting your two formula variables for limits .(FV -  are ready for input ) .
The formula would return the result as 1 or 0 because it would have boolean condition in it.
You could then place a condition in the query designer to only show all records where the value of the formula key fig is 1.
You formula A would look like
    ( KF > FV1) AND (KF < FV2) * 1.
And in the condition put A EQ 1.
You could scale the key figures as well and multiply the limits mentioned by the users in FV1 and FV2 if decimals are still not recognized by SAP.(scaling)

  • How to create a formula based condition in bex query designer

    hi all,
i have scenario in query designer where i need to calculate Key performance indexes based on characters and key figures iam using.for example the condition is like:
"if call received is less than call projection then give call received else null"
how and where to define the condition and i need to name the condition to display it seperatly.please help me in this issue.
    regards
    Vamshi D Krishna

hi you have to break down your conditions and then code for them.
    for e.ge.
    if actual == 0
      vart = 0.
    else if actual-target ==0
              vart = 0.001
           else
             vart = actual -target
           endif
    endif
now we start with first condition use operators from boolean catagory
    (Actual != 0)*(other amount)
this solves first if condition... if actual  = 0 value actual != 0 will be zero we got our desired value.
if other case then we have give else condition.
    (Actual != 0)*(((actual - target) == 0 )*0.001+((actual-target)!=0)*(actual-target))
in the second half we have coded the else part.
in the same way you can proceed for your logic

  • Query designer problem with SAP GUI 7.10

I recently installed the SAP GUI 7.10 and when I'm going to apply or remove a filter in any characteristic, this error is shown :
    <b>----
    BEx Query Designer
    Run-time error '-2147417848 (80010108)':
    Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.
    OK
    </b>
    Anybody knows what to do?
    Tnks in advance.

I had a similar problem after "upgrading" to SAPGUI 7.10, except my failure was in the BEx Analyzer. (We are still using BW 3.5 SP 18.)
The solution I found was in SAP Note 1039191 which addresses this problem for both the Analyzer and the Query Designer, and includes a revised "wdbsPres.dll" file as a workaround. After downloading and installing this file, the problem was resolved.
BTW, I have asked SAP when this will be fixed in a future FEP, but they have so far only given me a very ambiguous reply suggesting that I try it on another PC.
    Hope this helps...

  • Query Designer Crashing

Hello, I have just upgraded my Query designer to Support Package 7, Patch 1 Revision 571.  This is a BI Addon 7.x (based on 7.10).  Ever since this upgrade I've had issues with restricting infoproviders.  Everytime I try to restrict an infoprovider, it crashes and I end up restarting the application.  It does this when I try to restrict chars also however, not all the time.
I tried to look for this issue on service.sap.com and search on sdn but came up with nothing.  Does anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks,
    Syed.

    Hi SAP Gurus,
I am new to BI, and am trying to design a query using BEx , Does anyone have steps by step procedure with screen shots for query designing and reporting in BI 7.O
    Thanx in advance

    Hi,
u can get more info from sap help..
Query Designer - It is a tool where queries are created/changed. It is a GUI based tool where you drag and drop the field you need.
Report Designer - It is tool introduced in BI 7.0 for formatting the Bex Reports. You can use this tool to add header, footer and make all cosmetic changes to a bex report.

    BI Addon + Serivcepack 7
    BW 3.5 Addon + Servicepack 4
    Netweaver 7.00 packagelevel 11
Has anybody seen the same erro or a oss note which fixes this problem?
    Thanks.
    Regards, Lars.

    Hi,
I have not encountered this problem in the last days. We have made an upgrade
in the support package level from 11 to 16 for Netweaver Basis and 12 to 18 for
Netweaver BI. Sometimes there can arise problems when the support package level
of the Application Server is to low in comparision to the SAP GUI.
Maybe this was the problem. I am not sure.
I would advise you to install the latest upgrades of your SAP GUI and keep the application
server on a high support package level.
Sorry, I can't give any other hint.
    Regards, Lars.

  • Usage of formulas in conditions in BEx Query Designer

    Hi guys,
does anybody of you guys know, if it's possible to use the results of formulas in conditions? I tried it, but the result of the query was "No applicable data found", but there are data for the selection.
When I'm defining the condition with the key figure (no restricted or calculated key figure), then the query can be executed.
In my case, I like to define a condition based on a formula result. The value should only be displayed, when the result is greater than 30.
Any ideas or are there any bugy in the BEx Query Designer?
Thanks a lot + best regards,
    Clemens

    Hi Clemens,
I have created a condition in my own system based on formula and it works perfectly fine. Please check following points in your condition change mode,
    1) Condition is marked as Active.
    2) In the block "Evaluate condition below for" you will have to select "All characteristics in drilldown Independently". If you have selected combination of characteristics then you will have to maintain proper sequence otherwise your condition will not work.
    3) In the next block when you set the condition, click on new, in the first block select your Formula from dropdown and set the proper operator in your case you will have to select "Greater than" in the next column set the value of key figure and just trasnfer it.
Now you are ready to use the condition.
    Regards,
    Durgesh.

  • Need help in bex query designer

    hi experts ,
Actually we had a ODS where the KPI's values  for all weeks are present and also the module.
in the query designer we need to show the targets for respective KPI's modulewise.
    the requirement is
    module-selections
    week no-selection
    targetweek1week2---week3
    KPI1--10090---90--
    90
    KPI2--95-7885-----90
based on the module selection the targets values should change and also there should not be any restriction on weeks.
and also exceptions needs to be done for color coding.
we actually implemented cell defination for getting the above requirement , but here the problem is that we need to fix the  targets and there is arestriction on the weeks . but the requirement should be dynamic i.e, the targets should be configurable and the weeks should not be restricted.
in the backend ODS all weeks data is present. we just need an idea how to fix these targets and also color coding for the respective KPI's without using cell defination.
Kindly throw some pointers how to acheive this..
    thanks in advance,
    Madhu

    Hi Madhuri,
Ur requirement can be done by using a customer exit variable, keeping any sap stand. time characteristics value.
If u want to define the any selection dynamically, make a new selection with the text variable and call the customer exit variable into it and assaign the corresponding KPI into it and there by u can define the offset value as well.
for writting the customer exit,u need to contact ur ABAP'er and say the requirement.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Creating Restrictions in BEx query designer for (1-a), where a is variable.

    Dear All,
    >>  Suppose for the variable in the BEx query designer, I've created restriction for 0FISCPER to the variable 0P_PER (as 0P_PER-1) by right clicking 0P_PER3, from that a dialog box appears.  In that I've selected 0P_PER3 and then clicked on offset variable and when I set the offset variable, it works for (0P_PER-1.etc, 0P_PER+1,etc..)
But if I want to have (1-0P_PER), then plz tell me how to define this restriction?
Plz explain me the steps to perform (1-0P_PER) restriction in BEx query designer in BW1.
I'm using SAP BI 7.2 gui.
    Expecting your reply soon,
    with Regards,
    Jerald

My requirement is that I want to have " 1-fiscal year"., But this I could not define using offset variables, since using offset we can define "fiscal year +1" or "fiscal year -1".
So there would be some other way to define "1-fiscalyear".  So Please help me to define "1-fiscalyear"  by giving me the steps.
    Thank you,
    with Regards,

  • Group by in BEx query designer

    Hello experts,
I'm new in BEx query designer and I'm currently working on displaying the maximum of a list of values and group them by calendar day like the exemple below:
    CalendarDay
    Client
    Amount
    02.09.2014
    A
    3000
    02.09.2014
    B
    2000
    03.09.2014
    A
    1500
    03.09.2014
    B
    1600
The result I need to display is as below:
    CalendarDay
    Amount
    02.09.2014
    3000
    02.09.2014
    2000
    OverAll result
    3000
    03.09.2014
    1500
    03.09.2014
    1600
    OverAll result
    1600
What's the best solution for this ?! is it to work with calculated Key Figure or Exceptions ?! Would any one help me to get such result.
    Thanks a lot

If you need to show the data as you mentioned then i think you are suppose to keep client in rows and also you have to switch on the result row display for that characteristic.
Because if you remove it then data will get aggregated based on calday and it will become 2 records only.
To get the maximum value you have to use Exception aggregation.Create a new formula and put the amount kf inside it.Hit the aggregation tab--Exception aggregation as maximum--Reference characteristic as client.
If this does not work then we can also apply nested aggregation based on calday.

  • Query Designer restricted key figures using a prompt value

    Hallo Experts,
I would like to restrict key figures after user has beeen prompted to enter a date. I have 2 key figures:
    a) KF1, Date1
    b) KF2, Date2
User should be prompted to select a specific date: e.g. 01/2011. After selecting/entering the prompted date value, it should be given to date objects for intance Date1=01/2011 and Date2=01/2011.
How could I achieve it in Query Designer without using customer_exit function? Reason is that non-experienced users will use this report and they should not be confronted with complex query. Do you have any idea?
    Many thanks
    Mamadu

    Hi,
I assume that you need to restrict the value of keyfigures by date based on user input data on variable selection screen.
First create one user input variable on your date field say for eg calday.
Now restrict your KF1 with calday and choose that vairable which you created.
For second KF2 which seems to me need to be restricted with offset of +1 based on the date entered by the user.
So restrict this KF2 with calday and use the same variable with offset of +1
I just misunderstood you ned calmonth or day because in requirement you have given month but you are calling it as date.
If its month then replace calday with calmonth..
    Hope it helps.
