GWT Testing from Ant Junit task

Hey, gentlemen,
I have a target to create junit task to run arbitrary tests for GWT (GWTTestCase subclasses) from different packages. Task should print test cases output in regular junit format and launch tests according to name format, let's say *TestCase.java from anywhere in the project.
So, the problem is:
I run it through shell command line
java -cp 'CLASSPATHHERE' junit.textui.TestRunner my.package.MyTestCase
successful, as well as from
<java name="junit" class="junit.textui.TestRunner" ...>
</java>
ant target, BUT
When I try to do it with the <junit> task, I CANNOT specify a tool (junit.textui.TestRunner) I want to run it with (no tag or attribute), so it failed to initialize hosted mode server. Specifying it like a regular test cases cannot run... (maybe something wrong with my eyes)
Did anybody work with GWT and test cases? Any opinions? Thanks in advance...

When you say you have the junit.jar on the classpath, where did you configure this? In the 10.1.2 release, it needs to be specified in the "Additional Classpath" field of the Project Properties.

  • Why this WLST script does not work from ant a task

    Hi,
              The following is my lovely WLST script to disable managed server hostname verification in a cluster environment.
              It works perfect if I run it from the OS command line,
              java -cp $WL_HOME/server/lib/weblogic.jar sslSetting.py weblogic weblogic t3://localhost:7001
              But if I run it from ant task, it never works. Nothing happens, not even any messages. Any idea?
              ------ sslSetting.py -----------
              # Disable HostnameVerification on managed servers
              # This is a ONLINE script. The admin server must be running

              sys.exit()

              adminServerUrl=sys.argv[3]
              def handleServer(server):
              SSLPath="/Servers/" + server.getName() + "/SSL/" + server.getName()

              except Exception, inst:

    OK, when I run the WLST script from command java, I only need the weblogic.jar in the classpath. But I'll need a couple other jar file for it to work inside an ant target, as showing below.
              <target name="run-wlst">
              <java classname="weblogic.WLST" fork="true">
              <classpath>
              <pathelement path="${props.JAVA_HOME}/lib/tools.jar"/>
              <pathelement path="${props.WL_HOME}/server/lib/weblogic_sp.jar"/>
              <pathelement path="${props.WL_HOME}/server/lib/weblogic.jar"/>
              <pathelement path="${props.WL_HOME}/server/lib/webservices.jar"/>
              </classpath>
              <sysproperty key="weblogic.Home" value="${props.WL_HOME}" />
              <arg line="sslSetting.py weblogic weblogic t3://localhost:7001"/>
              </java>
              </target>

  • Can not run flexunit tests from ant

    Hello,
    I'm trying to script test execution in order to integrate tests in Jenkins. I followed the wiki article here http://docs.flexunit.org/index.php?title=Ant_Task
    The tests run successfully with Flash Builder but not with ant. I'm getting the following error:
    Error
    VerifyError: Error #1014: The class flash.filesystem::FileStream could not be found
    I think that this occurs because I'm using the flashplayer_11 as suggested in the wiki article and flashplayer does not load the airglobal.swc component.
    I noticed that Flash Builder launches the ADL.exe process; whereas flexunit within ant tests launches flashplayer.exe.
    Should I use ADL.exe with flexunit instead of Flash player ? In that case how to use adl argument in flexunnit ? I saw that Richard Lee has committed a fix to make flexunit support ADL arguments, how ?
    Is there a solution to my problem ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ygor

    Thank you Michael,
    I resolved my problem by adding the the player attribute in the flexunit task as follow:
    <flexunit
               player="air"
                workingDir="${bin.loc}"
                toDir="${report.loc}"
                haltonfailure="false"
                verbose="true"
                localTrusted="true"

  • Ant and the junit task

    Can anyone tell me how to run JUnit from Ant? I have a directory structure set up with the source files in src, the .class files in build, and the junit task in Ant seems to be unable to find my .class files.
    I can run the test using the java task (which would be an option, when all else fails):
      <target name="test" depends="init,compile"
            description="unit test" >
        <java  classname="${testclassname}"
               failonerror="yes"
               classpath="${fullclasspath}"
        >
        </java>
      </target>I can run the test using the junit task from the build directory (but you lose the depends functionality, as you cannot compile from here):
      <target name="unit" depends="init"
            description="unit test" >
        <junit printsummary="yes"
        >
          <test name="it.FlagHandlerTest"/>
          <formatter type="plain"/>
        </junit>
      </target>But I cannot persuade the junit task to run from the project top directory (java.lang.ClassNotFoundException thrown in JUnit), eg.
      <target name="unit" depends="init,compile"
            description="unit test" >
        <junit printsummary="yes"
               dir="${build}"
               fork="yes"
        >
          <test name="it.FlagHandlerTest"/>
          <formatter type="plain"/>
          <classpath>
            <pathelement location="${fullclasspath}"/>
          </classpath>
        </junit>
      </target>I am using Ant 6.1, JUnit 3.8.1, Java 1.4.2.

    The JUnit task requires 2 jars to be in the classpath when Ant is run:
    1) ant-junit.jar
    2) junit.jar
    According to the Ant manual you have two choices:
    1) Add junit.jar to the classpath
    2) Remove ant-junit.jar from the ant/lib directory and redefine the task in the build script, with a <taskdef> and a nested <classpath> elements.

  • Error with ant build and JUnit task in IntelliJ

    Hi,
    I seem to be having a very annoying error in IntelliJ. Here are the stats:
    - IntelliJ 4.5.1, Build 2239
    - Using own version of ant (1.5.1)
    - removed junit37.jar from my ant1.5.1/lib dir, and instead added junit version 3.8.1 of junit.jar to that dir
    - Specified that same junit.jar in my project classpath (this is the only item in the classpath for my test project)
    - MyTest.java is the only class in my project, and it is specified as a JUnitTest in run/debug configurations and includes the classpath and jdk of my project module
    When I right-click on my test class, and go to "Run" then my simple test passes. I see the results in the run window.
    Here is where the issue lies (and why this is confusing me). When I try to run the same test from my build.xml file in this project, specified with the classpath as the same from my project, and with the following junit task, I get the below error (3 times in a row for whatever reason). If any of you know of a configuration issue that I may be missing, please let me know. It is very frustrating! Thanks a lot, in advance.

    javac -cp .;junit.jar check4PrimeTest.java
    And use -cp to save you some typing ;) If you want to incorporate unit testing into your builds I would suggest looking into automating it a little more through tool such as ant, maven, etc.

  • How to test and debug EJB from a JUnit TestCase?

    It is possible to access an EJB from a JUnit TestCase? I have seen that in this case the embedded OC4J is not started automatically. Is it possible to start it programatically?
    Thanks in advance
    Cs.

    For the first part, I googled for "JUnit" and "EJB" with many hits like
    http://www.devx.com/Java/Article/28119
    and
    http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2003/02/05/automate_ejb.html
    The embedded server can be started by running an EJB from the IDE before performing the tests. If you start it programmatically (e.g. issuing the startup command) then it will be launched as a stand alone OC4J container.
    EJB 3.0 will make things easier to test in the near future

  • Test waits forever for a callback from a human task

    Hi,
    I've create a test to test a BPEL process. Now within the BPEL process there is a call to a human task service. I've emulated the task initiation message which is fine. I also tried to emulate the receive message from the human task service but during the test execution, the test waits forever to receive the callback from the human task service, even though i've specified the return message. Would appreciate help with this! I've posted my testbpel.bpel and the test case (CreditCardInvalidTest.xml) below. For both these files I've highlighted in bold the relevant bits of code that's giving me problems. Thanks

    Hi hi, on a hunch I previewed the page in the browser, and copy pasted the faces/untitled1 portion of the URL there and pasted on the http://<server_address>:8001/BasicAPPDemo_Root therefore ending with http://<server_address>:8001/BasicAPPDemo_Root/faces/untitled1 and lo and behold I saw the little text box saying "Hello World" ;D
    So with that i escalated, switched to the application where the page from BPM was located, deployed it and did the same trick.
    But it borked it gave this error:
    JBO-29115 Unable to construct the error message due to error java.lang.NullPointerException. Use the exception stack trace and error code to investigate the root cause of this exception. Root cause error code is JBO-.
    I figured that the Default generation could be faulty so i created a new page and only recycled the data controls, created everything in read mode, just to test and deployed, when i tested, i was optimistic as the 1st tab didn't had any error (also does not have anything related to the HumanTask, even the data controls) the problem was in the other tabs as I show here.
    Many thanks sirs, and sorry for wasting thy time.

  • Compile project from Ant Task

    Hi,
    I saw that there are some Ant Tasks with the BPM, but couldn't find any task that is able to just compile and generate the .exp file of the proyect.
    We wanted to implement a continuous integration server that compile all the projects that we have (so we need to do this from the command line).
    Anyone know any way to do this?
    Thanks !
    Carlos

    Questions:
    So you have an external tool builder that is triggered by a build?
    Which build of Eclipse?
    What is the Ant perspective?
    Are you running the Ant build in the same VM as Eclipse? Which VM?
    What VM is being used from the commandline?

  • Running JUnit tests from AWT Event Quene

    Anyone know how to run JUnit tests from the AWT Event Queue? JFCUnit is overkill; I'm just looking for a TestRunner that runs on a different thread. I can delve into the JUnit documentation but, with luck, someone who's been through this before can spare me the trouble. Also, anyone else get a server error when searching for "JUnit event dispatch" on this forum?

    JUnit 3 version:
    import java.util.concurrent.atomic.AtomicReference;
    import javax.swing.SwingUtilities;
    import junit.framework.TestCase;
    public abstract class EDTTestCase extends TestCase {
         * Overriding this method guarantees that setUp(), tearDown(), and all
         * tests run on the EDT.
        @Override
        public void runBare() throws Throwable {
            final AtomicReference<Throwable> problem = new AtomicReference<Throwable>();
            if (!SwingUtilities.isEventDispatchThread()) {
                SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(new Runnable() {
                    public void run() {
                        try {
                            runBare();
                        catch (Throwable throwable) {
                            problem.set(throwable);
                if (problem.get() != null) {
                    throw problem.get();
            else {
                super.runBare();
    }

  • Unit tests with ant (FB4 beta)?

    Since flexunit is integrated with FB4, I was wondering how to run unit tests with ant on FB4 (using 3.4 sdk). In my current ant build file, the <mxmlc> and <compc> tags both work but the tag <flexunit> does not seem to work anymore (it worked on FB3 with flexunit download). So is there anyway currently to run unit tests on FB4 using ant?

    Hi,
    Let us take your requirements as separate two requriements.
    1. Using the flexunit ant task - I think for this you needed a separate ant library to support this. So this may be missing in the ant available with FB. May be you can analyse this and add on your own and try out.
    2. Debuggin the results.
    Now FlexBuilder has the feature inbuilt as part of the IDE which provides more featuers like , source naviagation, rerunnig , saving results loading results etc.FlexBuilder uses its own set up to show the results details in IDE.
    Currently other than using the feature in FB, there is no way to debug the results of the tests. However if you would like to get the tests to be run by ant task, and analyse the results, the following can be used.
    Option 1 : Run outside FB, show and analyse results in FB
    a. Use the FB, create some sample testCases in FB.
    b. Use 'Execute FlexUnit tests' from the run,  or debug launcher
    c. Use the option Save configuration. This will get the configuration as xml or mxml file. You can use this file template and generate your test cases (may be you will configure your tests in a testSuite class and always use that as the input to the application, so that application syntax never changes). If you run the mxml created swf  (whch you can do by the simple ant tasks which does not use the flexunit task ) out side FlexBuilder and if the FlexBuilder is open, you can still see the results in the FB and analyse the results. (You need the library which is used by the FB to use the classes. You can get the location of swc file by inspecting the library path of a project in which you have added the testCase or testSuite class using the FB IDE)
    Option2:Run outside FB and  Analyse the results in FB.
    If you have the project for which you have run the tests, and you have the XML results of the run, you can still analyse the results in the FlexBuilder.
    a. Ensure that the report is in the required syntax of FB. (we have tried to use the similar syntax as that of the JUnit resutl report)
    b. Use FB, load your project, open the FlexUnit result view, use the open result option in the FB. This should load the XML in FB (we have only ensured to open the result files which were created using FB ,back in the result view. So if you are facing some issue in opening your XML, you can refer the required syntax by saving a sample run result from FB)
    Option 3: Run and analyse the results in FB.
    a. Have the input setup mentioned to FB. (If you would like to integrate changes, have a suite class which will take care of this and mention in the Execute FlexUnit tests to use this suite class. But there is no way to specify to run the FB commands outside FB.)
    b. So whenever you would like to anlyse the tests, you need to run your test in FB and then analyse the results shown in result view.
    Please let me know whether this is what you are looking for.
    Thanks,
    Rani

  • How to call imported ant target/task in Java

    Hi,
    Can anybody advice me how to call an ant target/task, which is
    "<import/>"ed from another build file, from within Java code?
    Here's my Java code:
    import org.apache.tools.ant.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class MyTest
    private Project project;
    public void init(String buildFile, String baseDir) throws
    Exception
    project = new Project();
    try { project.init(); }
    catch (BuildException e)
    { throw new Exception("The default task list could not be
    loaded."
    // Set the base directory. If none is given, "." is used.
    if (_baseDir == null) _baseDir=new String(".");
    try { project.setBasedir(_baseDir); }
    catch (BuildException e)
    { throw new Exception("The given basedir doesn't exist, or
    isn't a directory."); }
    if (_buildFile == null) _buildFile=new String("a.xml");
    try { ProjectHelper.getProjectHelper().parse(project, new
    File(_buildFile)); }
    catch (BuildException e)
    { throw new Exception("Configuration file "+_buildFile+" is
    invalid, or cannot be read."); }
    public void runTarget(String _target) throws Exception
    // Test if the project exists
    if (project == null) throw new Exception("No target can be
    launched because the project has not been initialized. Please call the
    'init' method first !");
    // If no target is specified, run the default one.
    if (_target == null) _target = project.getDefaultTarget();
    // Run the target
    try { project.executeTarget(_target); }
    catch (Exception e)
    { throw new Exception(e.getMessage()); }
    public static void main(String args[])
    try{
    MyTest mytest=new MyTest();
    mytest.init("c.xml",".");
    mytest.runTarget(null);
    }catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    Here are my build files: (they look almost the same. But it's only to see if <import> works.)
    1.c.xml:
    <project basedir="." default="runtests" name="TestC">
    <import file="a.xml"/>
    </project>
    2. a.xml:
    <project basedir="." default="runtests" name="TestA">
    <target name="runtests" depends="">
    <mkdir dir="ttt"/>
    </target>
    </project>
    If I directly set build file "a.xml" in MyTest.java, everthing works
    well. However, if set "c.xml" then do task "<mkdir dir="ttt"/>" defined
    in "a.xml" which was imported by "c.xml", when running, I got an
    exception. Looks like it can't parse my c.xml which include "import".
    BTW, I'm using ant 1.6.2, and running "ant -f c.xml" was ok.
    Did I miss any classpath or something? Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Amy

    I have a standard Ant build script for signing a jar file. I import it into my master Ant build files with
    <import file="Sign.xml"/>
    and then in my master Ant script I setup the name of the jar file e.g.
    <property name="jar-file" value="${fun}/FunApplet.jar"/>
    and then invoke a target
    <target name="sign-jar" depends="jar, sign">
    </target>
    Since this target (sign-jar) depends on target 'jar' and target 'sign' it executes the 'jar' target and then the 'sign' target that is contained in Sign.xml.

  • Installing  Ant/JUnit/Maven on Tiger 10.4.11

    Hi all,
    I am working on installing Java JDK 1.7 on a PPC 7450 chipset running 10.4.11 following the installation instructions for
    OpenJDK <a href="https://wikis.oracle.com/display/OpenJDK/Darwin9Build"> here </a>, appropriately modified for the PPC.
    I am now trying to get a newer version of Ant installed (1.8.4). Ant needs JUnit to install.
    In turn JUnit, from github, needs Maven installated first to work, via the command "mvn".
    And to complete the circle, Maven needs Ant installed first!
    I followed the detailed instuctions <a href="http://wolfpaulus.com/jounal/mac/macmaven/"> here </a> to install Maven on OSX.
    Unfortunately, those instuctions seem to only be for the newer Intel-based machines.
    I have the environment variables JAVA_HOME = /Library/Java/Home set for java.
    java -version yields the expected result :
    <tt>
    java version "1.5.0_19"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_19-b02-306)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_19-138, mixed mode, sharing)
    </tt>
    which is the last Apple-supplied JDK for tiger.
    The JUnit installation guides I have seen all seem to expect Maven to already be installed since they all seem to end in "mvn install".
    I have not been able to find installation instructions to build JUnit from source code directly even though one can download it. In the file
    BUILDING that is in the JUnit distribution it explicitly states :
          "We do not at this time have an official way to build from the src jar or zip.  If this is an important missing feature, please let us know
            at http://github.com/junit-team/junit/issues"
    Does anyone have instructions on how to build JUnit from source code, or how to build Maven from source code?
    This seemingly circular dependency is very frustrating. I know I am missing something.
    Any tips or links would be greatly appreciated!
    --Ed

    UPDATE:
    I think I got to the bottom of the seemingly circular requirements to Ant / Junit / Maven.
    Since ant 1.7.0 the Ant source distribution has two additional XML files: fetch.xml and get-m2.xml
    The first, fetch.xml is used to go and download optional libraries for ant, one of which is junit.
    The second XML file, get-m2.xml was originally part of fetch.xml and later split off into a separate file.
    This file, get-m2.xml, similarly gets the Maven 2 Ant tasks.
    However, it uses the  XML syntax typefound for the condition property in the Ant task "probe-m2"  which determines if Maven 2 Ant tasks are already installed.
    That is a problem since that particular syntax is new in Ant 1.7 and later. If you are using ant .1.6.5, like I am trying to do, to build ant 1.7 on the way to getting a newer JDK, the build process fails right there since that syntax is not understood yet by the older ant.
    The error I am referring to is:
    get-m2.xml:70: Class org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.ConditionTask doesn't support the nested "typefound" element.
    which I see quite often in searching the web for clues.
    I *think* the assumption was that one would run the fetch.xml XML file after one had built and installed the newer version of ant first. That makes sense if everything in fetch.xml is indeed optional.
    However, they also hard-coded the new dependence on junit into ant 1.7 and later, so it seems to me that one needs an option to run fetch.xml first to grab all required dependencies, install them, and only then run the main build.sh script to build ant.
    I therefore edited the get-m2.xml and fetch.xml to use the older XML syntax only available in ant 1.6.5 and was indeed able to get the scripts to download the rest of the dependencies.
    Interestingly, all the code download was placed in the Maven 2 repository in my $HOME area and not in the ant 1.7.0 source code tree as I expected.
    I do now see in my $HOME/.m2 Maven 2 repo 3 versions of junit: 3.7, 3.81 & 3.8.2
    Now I have to just re-write build.sh and maybe build.xml to point them to the Maven 2 repo to get the required junit code and hopefully the build will then proceed.

  • An Odd Interaction Between Ant, JUnit, and IntelliJ

    I must be losing my mind. Things that I used to know in my sleep are failing me these days.
    I'm running JUnit 3.8.1 and Ant 1.6 in IntelliJ 4.5 on Windoze XP and Sun's JDK 1.4.2. (Enough acronyms?)
    I've got an Ant build.xml that I've flogged on a bunch of projects at my last employer. It's nice and generic and shaken down nicely. It has a compile step that's followed by a dependent <junit> task, which runs all the JUnit TestCases I've accumulated, generates XML reports, deploys the app, and then generates javadocs. I've used it many times on the command line and in Eclipse 3.0.
    My latest employer has sprung for IntelliJ 4.5, which I like VERY much. After learning Eclipse it's been no problem to figure out what IntelliJ is doing for me.
    My problems start when I try to use my lovely build.xml in IntelliJ. It compiles all my code fine, but when it tries to run the JUnit task it always comes back with ClassNotFoundException when it tries to load the TestCase. That means CLASSPATH, right? I'm setting CLASSPATH in the build.xml. I can look at the properties that JUnit says it has when it runs the test, and I can see the full path to the TestCase in the java.class.path property. I've used the <echo> task to print out the converted CLASSPATH before running JUnit, and I can see the TestCase in the CLASSPATH then, too.
    If I open a command shell and run the junit.textui.TestRunner by hand, adding the appropriate JARs using the -classpath option, everything is perfect.
    What the heck am I doing wrong? Anybody else running JUnit in IntelliJ via Ant?

    I'm setting CLASSPATH in the build.xml. I can look
    k at the properties that JUnit says it has when it
    runs the test, and I can see the full path to the
    TestCase in the java.class.path property. I've used
    the <echo> task to print out the converted CLASSPATH
    before running JUnit, and I can see the TestCase in
    the CLASSPATH then, too.
    If I open a command shell and run the
    junit.textui.TestRunner by hand, adding the
    appropriate JARs using the -classpath option,
    everything is perfect.
    What the heck am I doing wrong? Anybody else running
    JUnit in IntelliJ via Ant?There is a possiblilty that it is not finding the JUnit.jar. You might want to experiment with "build.sysclasspath" (I think that's the name, not sure) in your Ant script.

  • Running FlexUnit tests from command line

    Sorry if that has been posted before: I searched best I could and nothing came up.
    I am interested in building and running my unit tests from the command line so we can add it to a nightly build process.
    I am *very* new to all this: basically I picked up Adobe Flash Builder 4 a month ago and I have done *everything* inside that IDE: writing code, building, testing, running.
    I looked into at least how to build something from the command line, I found this:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashbuilder/using/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-59108b2e1215eb9d5e4-8000 .html
    Can't get past this error:
    Buildfile: /Users/dbanks/build_test.xml
    BUILD FAILED
    Target "FlexUnitApplication" does not exist in the project "null".
    Total time: 0 seconds
    Adobe Flash Builder 4:
    An error has occurred. See the log file
    /Users/dbanks/Documents/Adobe Flash Builder 4/.metadata/.log.
    Plus, even if I got this going, I am just building the swf.  I also want to run it and capture the output in some meaningful way that can be read/evaluated/acted on.
    FWIW, the script/xml I am using to try to build:
    build_test.xml:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <project default="main">
        <target name="main">
            <fb.exportReleaseBuild project="NightclubMogul" />
        </target>
    </project>
    execute_build_test.sh:
    WORKSPACE="$HOME/Documents/AdobeFlashBuilder4"
    # works with either FlashBuilder.app or Eclipse.app
    "/Applications/AdobeFlashBuilder4" \
        --launcher.suppressErrors   \
        -noSplash   \
        -application org.eclipse.ant.core.antRunner   \
        -data "$WORKSPACE"    \
        -file "/Users/dbanks/build_test.xml" FlexUnitApplication
    I am not clear what in here is actually supposed to point to where my project lives: it's off in some directory somewhere.  I see that I am pointing to a workspace (Documents/AdobeFlashBuilder4) but when I poke around in there I don't see anything connecting back to the directories where the code lives.
    Any help would be great: getting the tests to build from command line, then getting them to run.

    C:\>sqlplus @myscript
    That would be the easiest variation
    C:\>sqlplus user/passwd@tns_alias @myscript
    would be an often used variation
    And then there is of course the version with parameter passing:
    C:\>sqlplus user/passwd@tns_alias @myscript param1 ... paramx
    Dunno about MSBuild
