h:form with W3C validation failure

Hi gurus,
I tried to validate my JSF page against W3C validation rules. However, each <h:form> in my page creates a hidden field as:
"+<input type="hidden" name="javax.faces.ViewState" id="javax.faces.ViewState" value="j_id14:j_id15" />+"
with same id and value, so as a result, i can't pass the validation.
So could anyone has a suggestion on this problem?
BTW, i found some threads suggest to use a "giant" h:form for the entire page, and clearly this is not the answer i am looking for.
Thanks in advance!

Yep, it's a known issue.
I've attempted fixes in the RI in the past, however due to potential reliance on the presence of both
fields for AJAX libraries+JSF, it's left as is.

  • Menu problem with w3c validator

    DW CS5.5
    When I test a php page with a select menu in the w3c validator, I get the following error message on each element within it:
    The select element cannot have more than one selected option descendant unless the multiple attribute is specified. [HTML5]
    Whether selected as a menu or a list, it still appears. I was under the impression that you only select one item from a list unless you check "allow multiple" and I only need one item to be selected.
    The list or menu displays and works properly, selecting one item as required.
    Is this a validator error or is there something wrong with my DW generated code? - shown as a list in this case:

    Most containers have their own XML parsing JAR's. You do not want to normally remove these (as they parse XML deployment and configuration files). However, you can add your own XML parsing JAR files to WEB-INF/lib.

  • Confused with W3C validation results

    Ok so i've had problems with this page (please see below), adapting it to respond to any size device. I was advised to start off by tidying up the errors on the W3C validator. I have reduced the errors right down but am having big problems with the error shown below.  I have tried removing all the dl elements from each picture/element and leaving just the one containing the whole section but its still not right.
    Can anyone please help me resolve it?

    Ok so i've applied my unordered list. (please see below) and i applied the CSS like you suggest. Now how do i get the pictures to sit side by side in rows of two's down the page? Do i need to apply a float left and right to each <li> element or is there an easier way? This is what it currently looks like (www.milesfunerals.com/estimator.php) and this is the layout i need to acheive (www.milesfunerals.com/estimator.html).

  • Help sought with W3C Validation issue

    In order to place text from a database accurately in a cell I have used:
    <span class="cont_layer">
    <?php echo $row_restSelect['cel_blb'];  // Insert Details from dbase ?>
    </span>
    However, I am using tinyMCE at the input interface for the MYSQL database and tinyMCE puts in tags like <p> all over the place, so the output looks something like this:
    <span class="cont_layer"><p>Some text.<br /> Some more text. <br /> <br /> And a bit more text.</p></span>
    This works fine in practice, but I notice that W3C Validation rejects the structure with:
    "document type does not allow element "p" here; missing one of "object", "applet", "map", "iframe", "button", "ins", "del" start-tag"
    I am using XHTML Transitional.
    Is there a way around this, or should I just stop being so anal about validation?

    A <span> is for inline elements and cannot contain block-level elements, such as paragraphs. Replace your <span> with a <div> and all will be hunky-dory.
    <div class="cont_layer">
    <?php echo $row_restSelect['cel_blb'];  // Insert Details from dbase ?>
    </div>

  • Mailto form with spry validation won't open in IE

    Hi,
    I've created a mailto: form using Spry validation fields and have two issues.
    1. I create the form, transfer it to the webserver and the validation fields work.  But when I reopen the form in Dreamweaver to make changes, an error window comes up saying that there are widgets that no longer exist and some of the fields have lost their validation code.
    2.  The form works fine in Firefox, but in IE, you click Submit, it brings up the email window, but the content is empty.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Sample app on apex.oracle.com:
    Workspace: galway
    User: gwicke
    Pass: gwicke
    Steps:
    1- run Page 3
    2- select J & B Marketing from drop down
    3- select only contract from drop down
    4- click on Edit Existing Contract
    5- click on Add New Builder
    6- Enter the same builder from calling page: Builder Name: Alvarez Construction City: Baton Rouge State: LA
    7- click Add Builder
    The original version of this page would add the new builder to the database, pass the information back to the calling page and close the popup window. Cool.
    I have added a validation on the popup page (Page 4) to check for an existing builder with the same name and city.
    What I'd like to have happen is the popup window stay open so the user can see the error message with the instructions for them to click on the CANCEL button and then select the builder from the drop down list. When they click the CANCEL button I need to have the window close.
    What is happening is the window is closing as soon as the Add Builder button is clicked.
    This is because there is a region called 'scripts' that contains javascript to submit the page and close the window and the condition on the region is only that the Builder Name is not null. So, the good news is that I understand why the window is closing but I'm not sure the best way to keep it open when the error condition happens.
    Thanks very much for your help. I'm sure you recall everything about this app you helped me with many months ago. NOT!! :-)

    Gary, I think I've got it working the way you want.
    1. I added a conditional branch to page 4 which fires on the not exists builder condition condition.
    2. I disabled the reset page process. With that running, the conditional branch to page 4 woul always fire because the builder name and city were always cleared by the time the branch executed.
    3. I noticed that the new builder did not show up in your select list until I refreshed page 2. I haven't had a chance to look at that. Maybe a branch back to page 2 from page 4 after successfully loading a new builder will take care of that.

  • Can I copy a form with spry text fields?

    I have two forms that are almost identical with the exception of a few fields. Instead of completely redoing the 2nd form I would like to just save the document in dreamweaver with a new name and change/add the fields I need. I've used spry text fields though. Will I have any issues with just copying and then changing this form as far as the spry files are concerned or am I just better off creating a whole new form?

    Keep in mind that form field names need to exactly match your form-processing script.
    Spry was abandoned by Adobe in late 2012. Since I don't use Spry for anything, I can't honestly say if the form validation will continue to work or not.  I much prefer the ease of HTML5 form validation alone or with jQuery for older browsers.

  • Can't style forms with CSS in DWCS6 / Need to add WYSIWYG menu

    Hello everyone,
    i put both my "problems" in a single topic:
    1) I was trying to add some style to my pages with forms in them, but it seems it doesn't work so well.... i explain: i create a php page, i insert a form with text fields (username and password, for example) and the "login" button. The form ID is "LogForm". I create a CSS class, called ".FormCSS" and inside i put the rule "align text: right". I apply the rule to the form and all the text inside goes to the right. I try online (real server and local server, i tried both) but nothing happens, the elements of the form stay on the left. I tried to apply the rul to the ID of the form. Nothing.
    Probably i'm doing something wrong. Even with text and tables inside the form, i can't move/modify them, at all. In design view i see all the changes, online i can't (chrome and IE). What do i have to do?
    2) I'm creating a page to insert long text in a database, like when you post in a forum. I'd like to insert a sort of toolbar with the align options, style, and so on, like the WYSIWYG editors. Is it possibile? Is there a way to put a toolbar like that in DWCS6?
    Thanks

    #1 You're not styling the correct form selectors: form, fieldset, lable label, input, textarea...

  • Retain all form field values after input text field validation failure

    Hi,
    I have a form with 1 input text field, one Command button and one h:selectManyListbox. when User enteres some values in input field and clicks on command button named Add, the value is validated. If input is invalid, then an error message appears next to the field. If input is valid, then the value is added into h:selectManyListbox. Adding to list box is done using Ajax4Jsf.
    Probelm:
    Let's assume user entered 3 valid values one after another and all are added into the list box. When he enters a wrong value, and error message appears. however, the entered values in list box goes away. Is there a way to retain the values even after validation failure.
    Code is given below;
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk" prefix="t"%>

    <h:panelGroup>
         <h:outputLabel for="inputEmailId1" value="Email Id: " />
         <t:inputText value="#{bean.newEmailId}" id="inputEmailId1" maxlength="100" size="40" immediate="true">
              <t:validateEmail message="Enter a valid Email Id." />
         </t:inputText>
         <t:message for="inputEmailId1" styleClass="errorStyleClass" />
    </h:panelGroup>
    <t:panelGroup style="text-align: left;" >
         <a4j:commandButton value="Add" styleClass="buttonsSub" action="#{bean.addSharedEmails}"
              reRender="inputEmailId1, selectedSharedEmails" />
    </t:panelGroup>
    <t:panelGroup style="text-align: left;">
         <h:selectManyListbox id="selectedSharedEmails" size="8" style="width:100%;" immediate="true">
              <f:selectItems value="#{bean.sharedEmails}" />
         </h:selectManyListbox>
    </t:panelGroup>
    Thanks in advance,

    Use the attribute "binding" instead of a "value". This will remember the value. You can also make sure that you dont have anything in your constructor or class level that initialises that value to "" or null. Because if JSF is remembering your value but your initialization that gets triggered before the page loading resets it to default values then you need to change that part of the code.

  • Date Validation problem in form with report

    Hi,
    I am stuck on this date validation issue in a form with report that I am working on-
    I have an Active_date_start and an Active_date_end field. I want to validate the form in such a way that if the user enters the Active_date_end < active_date_start then it should error out appropriately asking to change the active_end_date . Also another problem is that the changes are made to the active_date_end they should reflect in the table. How do I accomplish this.
    Appreciate all the help offered.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the code.Now the APPLY CHANGES works fine except that it throws an error when I change the end date to a date which is less than the start date . So it does show me my error and does not go further but also shows me the error -
    Invalid PL/SQL expression condition: ORA-06550: line 1, column 29: PLS-00306: wrong number
    or types of arguments in call to 'NVL' ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement
    ignored Invalid PL/SQL expression condition: ORA-06550: line 1, column 29: PLS-00306:
    wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'NVL' ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    I looked up the error number and it says its a generic error type where the error can be found on the line number specified. But in this case how and where do I look for the error line?. This is the code I am using-
    DECLARE
    vACTIVE_DATE_START DATE;
    vACTIVE_DATE_END DATE;
    BEGIN
    vACTIVE_DATE_START := TO_DATE(:P4_ACTIVE_DATE_START, 'DD/MM/YYYY');
    vACTIVE_DATE_END := TO_DATE(:P4_ACTIVE_DATE_END, 'DD/MM/YYYY');
    IF vACTIVE_DATE_END < vACTIVE_DATE_START THEN
    RETURN 'End date is before start date';
    ELSE
    RETURN NULL;
    END IF;
    END;
    My base table has the active_date_start as NOT NULL. Now I have the exact same code for APPLY CHANGES
    in other form and it works fine not giving the above error. I am at a loss to know how I can get rid of the error.
    Any suggestions!.
    Thanks in advance,
    A

  • Is anyone having problems with the w3c validator killing Dreamweaver

    CS5.5 on win7 64bit is my system.
    If I try to validate a PHP page in live view, most times the validator works fine.
    If there is an error, and I click on the line number to find the error location, edit the file and close the validator window, I get a short fat barber's pole in blue and white on the bottom right of my screen, or sometimes a long thin one at the top right.
    The following message appears:
    >>>>>>>>>
    Server not found
    The page
    "http://localhost (path to page) was not loaded because Dreamweaver could not find the server "localhost". Please make sure that you are connected to the internet and the server name is correct.
    >>>>>>>>>
    On other occasions, the following  message appears after using the validator:
    >>>>>>>>>
    path to filename      The request to the W3C service has timed out. The service or your Internet connection appears to be down.
    My Internet connection is fine, and if I click on the w3c button again it validates with no problem.
    >>>>>>>>>
    When the first message appears, Dreamweaver becomes unstable and hangs, the only solution is to restart the program, after which everything works fine - including the validator, until it finds another error and the whole thing starts over again.
    CS5.5 on win7 64bit is my system.
    Is anyone else having problems like this with the validator?

  • Failure FRM-32029 while compiling Form with Forms Builder

    Hi.
    I have problem. I compile a form with Forms Builder from DevSuiteHome and get the failure:
    "FRM-32029 Window WINDOW not found; canvas-section CG$LOVCAN" (I translate it, it´s not the original terms).
    I google and search the forum and oracle page, but found nothing about this failure. In Forms-Builder itself is also nothing recorded about this problem.
    Do someone know more about this error?
    Thanks.

    Thanks inolau for answering.
    The problem is, that I don´t have a documentation about the sourcecode and these forms worked under from 6i to 9i upgraded Oracle AS and DB servers. So the problem is not only "where is the WINDOW", than more "why doesn´t works it under a new 10g version and how get it working?".
    That´s why I was searching for this not recorded error.
    And I´m worry about that searching for the part of the sourcecode where I found the "WINDOW" is like looking for a needle in a haystack. ;)

  • Error tabular form with validation

    Hi everyone,
    I have built a tabular form with the wizard and I every time a validation check is done and fails,
    getting an error in the place where the tabular form should be. I get to see the tabular form again when pressing the cancel button or refreshing the page.
    I'm not quite able to reproduce this error, but I was wondering if anyone knows of this error and a workaround for it.
    The error that's displayed is: report error: User-Defined exception
    using Apex version 4.1.1. I've already tried building a new tabular form, but that didn't seem to resolve the issue.
    I would appreciate the help.
    Kind regards,
    Cleopatra

    Possible solution?
