Halo: Combat Evolved Question

My system is a dual 450 with 1.25 GB RAm. If I upgrade my video card will I be able to play on this system? I'm not sure if the game will use both of the processors or not also. Thanks!
  Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hi-
Welcome to Discussions!
Minimum system requirements are 800mhz processor, 256mb RAM, and 32mb Graphics card.
Recommended system is 1ghz processor, 512mb RAM, and 64mb Graphics card.
Your G4 would be about equivalent to a 733mhz single processor G4 QuickSilver. With the 1.25 gb of RAM that you have and a 128 mb ATI 9800 Graphics card, the game MAY be reasonably playable, but no guarantees.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs + Creative Alchemy + Halo: Combat Evolved= Sound Clipping

Hi, I have just installed the Audigy 2 zs in my windows 7 32bit system which is an upgrade to my old Live! 5.1 digital. Before install of the new sound card I removed all previous drivers and software that pertained to the old card. Then installed the Audigy 2 card with latest official drivers and the latest version of Alchemy. Everything went well except when playing Halo: CE for PC, When playing in game with sound acceleration and EAX on I am getting what I can only call sound clipping when there is a lot of sounds being heard or I should say supposed to be heard, I am only hearing part of them with a clip and sometimes none of them. During the Start Menu the sounds come out fine, it only happens in game with a lot of stuff going on such as in the middle of a battle or just firing the assault rifle on full auto. I tried playing around with the settings in Alchemy but that did not work. I never had this problem with the Live! 5.1 card. Any and all help would be appreciated

    I found this:
    https://halo.bungie.net/Forums/posts...1-p=1#10350046
    Install aLchemy.
Go to install location of aLchemy (default is C:\Program Files(x86)\aLchemy\) and add this into the "aLchemy.ini" file:
    [Halo]
    RegPath=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Micr osoft Games\Halo\EXE Path
    Duration=5
    [Halo CE]
    RegPath=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Micr osoft Games\Halo CE\EXE Path
    Duration=5
    Two sugestions:
    1. Experiment with the settings;
    2. Use old Alchemy (take a look PM...).

  • Problems with Halo Combat Evolved on mac mini server with HD3000 graphics

There is frequent flickering of certain elements in the game (ie. background) and certain elements such as weapons are not rendered at all. This happens sporatically and not in a predictable manner. Does any body have any idea what is going on? I read that there are some issues with the HD3000 card on mac minis. I hope I did not make a purchase that I will regret.

If I understand your question correctly, is there a reason you've replaced the integrated MySQL within Mac OS X Server with a second MySQL database implementation? (That's almost inherently going to get tangled; you'll need to shut off the default implementation.)
Or is this a Perl module you've loaded and that is now tipping over? If you haven't replaced MySQL here, then have you started MySQL and run some tests with the database itself? This to make sure MySQL is operational, and that the problem you're working on is in the Perl pieces and not in the MySQL layer?

  • Halo: Combat Evolved EAX Windows 7 64 bit working!

I used the newest version of Alchemy and Halo .05, with Windows 7 64 bit.
The settings that are provided for 32 bit vista work as well in Windows 7.
If you run 64 bit Windows 7 or Vista here is the new key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ Microsoft Games\Halo\EXE Path
Upon adding the game to the list, and then making the above change from the original provided below.........HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsof t\Microsoft Games\Halo\EXE Path.......
the game sounds beautiful and has positional audio back. Before using Alchemy, my 5. setup is just plain stereo upmixed.

Since I have a browser choice, I surely want to use Safari 5 on my Windows 7 machine but so far I am having no luck. Safari runs for X minute (time varies) and then all of sudden crashes with a message "Safari has stopped working."
Fingers crossed, the problem reports for those errors might cast some fresh light on the source of the problem.
Head into your Problem Reports and Solutions control panel (or the Windows 7 equivalent ... the Action Center?) and look for recent Safari problem reports. Open them up and look through. Do they all seem to be saying the same thing? If so, paste the contents of a typical problem report into a reply here so we can have a look.

  • Mac disk error with Halo Universal and QT7.2

This is not a question, but a means of posting a problem for Apple and others to see:
    1) Halo Universal (original and 2.0.2 upgrade) will always create a "volume header error" on my hard drive whenever a checkpoint is reach. This error is found with Disk Utility. The game may be OK for quite a while before actually crashing (unable to load saved game - must start all over).
I use Apple's Disk Utility on the install CD to repair the error.
    2) The original Halo, Combat Evolved, for PPC, upgraded to 1.5.2 works without causing a "volume header error".
The following answer was sent back to me from [email protected]:
This problem has been reported by a number of other users, and we've reproduced it here on our machines. We are 99% sure that Quicktime 7.2 is causing these problems. Unfortunately, the only advice I can give you at the moment would be to try and reinstall Quicktime 7.1.6 to see if this solves your problem.
Here are instructions for rolling back to 7.1.6:
    *Force installation of QuickTime 7.1.6*
    1. Download _QuickTime 7.1.6_
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime716formac.html
but do not attempt to install
    2. Download and launch Pacifist
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743
    3. In Pacifist, click the "Open Package" button, then locate and open
    the QuickTime 7.1.6 .pkg file.
    4. Click the lock and enter your administrator password, then click
    the "Install" button.]
    5. Download and install the _Mac OS X 10.4.10 combo updater_
    http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3rdpty2.pl/product=14214&cat=1&platform =osx&method=sa/MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.10Intel.dmg
Please follow these directions carefully, as not doing things exactly as they are written has caused some users to have to reinstall OS X.
I haven't tried this, but it does sound like it should work - after reading what's been posted for other QT 7.2 problems
I'll continue with the PPC version of Halo until an update for QT7.2 comes out.

I have time machine turned off "permanently" for now. When I plug my drive in, it asks if I want to use it as a backup disk, I say decide later.
Yes, Time Machine will nag you every time you connect a disk and Time Machine isn't configured. You might be able to stop that by selecting the "none" disk.
This is where I hit a problem - I don't remember getting any Install discs when I got my computer and can't find any.
You bought it new, right? 2 discs with gray labels should have been in the box (they're easy to miss, unfortunately). They might be with the small DVD-size booklet.
You will need them, sooner or later. You need the originals (or copies) to run the +Apple Hardware Test+ that's tailored to your Mac, or to reinstall the original version of OSX and Apple apps. And the 2nd disc has your iLife apps on it.
If your Mac didn't come with Snow Leopard, you'll need a retail Snow Leopard disc, too, to repair the file system on your disk, reinstall the Snow Leopard version of OSX, or do a full restore from Time Machine backups.
    What do I do?
If you can't find them call AppleCare. Give them your serial number, and they'll send a replacement set for a nominal fee.
The retail Snow Leopard disc is $29.

In the meantime, how old is the WD disk? It may be failing or have failed.
It's a very long shot, but try different ports, cables, and combinations of the two (sometimes a plug that works fine in one port won't make good contact in another one).
Disk Erase failed with the error:
POSIX reports: The operation couldn’t be completed. Cannot allocate memory
It sounds more like the disk has failed.

    Hello CLD2ooth,
There is a lot of excitement around finally being able to play Halo on your Xbox One with The Master Chief Collection and we’ve certainly been paying attention to customer feedback regarding our “Get $10” Promotion.
After taking what you and other customers have posted back to our My Best Buy and Gaming teams, we have decided to add Halo: The Master Chief Collection to the program! That means that My Best Buy members can now get $10 in reward certificates for pre-ordering and purchasing the game! You won’t see this reflected on all of the relevant pages on BestBuy.com until closer to the end of August, but I have confirmed it with the teams and wanted to give our Best Buy Community a heads up.
Thanks for posting your suggestion and please let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Boot Camp Newbie Question

    Hi all,
I just bought HALO: Combat Evolved for PC last week and loaded it on my Dell. The graphics were really bad due to a weak but operational graphics card.
I got the idea last night to try it through Windows on my iMac. So I loaded Windows via Boot Camp with no problems and went through all the updates that Windows needed. I crossed my fingers and installed HALO and it worked. Then I tried to run the game.
An error window displayed and said "a debugger has been detected, please disable the debugger to continue." I've done some sleuthing and think that it may be related to the video driver. I'm running an ATI Mobility Radeon 2600 XT. Any of you have a suggestion for me or know if I can (and if it would be wise) to change my video driver? Can Windows and OSX run different video drivers (i.e. I change the driver in windows but not OSX)? Thanks!
    Will

So I was able to change my video driver in Windows XP SP2 and that did it! If anyone has this same issue, I followed the directions on this web page:
    http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1017&message=24987376
I found this somewhere else in the Apple discussions.
Note: I haven't had any issues in OSX or Windows since changing the driver.

  • Internet games

    Hey guys
Just a quick question regarding online games. I have tried to play some games that have online capabilities but I am unable to join any games. The games I try and join work fine, I see there are people are already on that "server". I cna host a game and people can join, but I don't want to have to do that every time I wanna play. I don't have alot of games for the Mac as I just switched over but I do have Halo: Combat Evolved demo, and that 3D Paradise Paintball, and that 3D Crash Drive which are both those widgets. I have Warcraft III and Diablo II which I will install now to see how they go about joining other peoples games.
If anybody can help me as to what I need to set up in my system preferences, please help.
    Thank you

Sorry for the really late reply. I just kinda forgot I posted this message. I meant to say that the game I try and join I can't but, the ones I HOST work fine. Like people can join in anytime. But yeah I don't want to have to do that everytime I wanna play online. And both Warcraft III and Diablo II I can't join anygames. Thanks for the reply.

  • XBOX live and Verizon FIOS clearing things up a bit here

Interested? Call now to add an Xbox to your current service. Or, if you’re a new customer, you can sign up online here and take advantage of a special offer that includes triple-play service with FiOS TV, FiOS 35/35 Mbps Internet service and Verizon voice service, starting at $89.99 a month. The offer also includes a 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold Membership and the “Xbox Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary” game. Order now – the special offer is only available through Jan. 21.
The FiOS TV app will become available for download next month.  We’ll be launching the service with 26 channels and we plan to add more.
ok they aren't adding your xbox to your current service....New customer's are going to be able to take advantage of that new promo "a special offer that includes triple-play service with FiOS TV, FiOS 35/35 Mbps Internet service and Verizon voice service, starting at $89.99 a month. The offer also includes a 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold Membership and the “Xbox Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary” game. Order now – the special offer is only available through Jan. 21"
I believe this is online ordering only try to order it online instead of calling in as that is where I personally have been advised
FiOS TV customers will have access to an app on their Xbox consoles, which will become available for download next month. Once customers download the Verizon FiOS TV app on their console, they can begin watching live streaming FiOS TV channels - without the need to pay for another set-top box. Customers must subscribe to both FiOS TV and Internet services.
Initially, 26 FiOS TV channels will be available, depending on the customer's TV package
Customers who order FiOS TV and Internet service will receive the "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" game and Xbox LIVE Gold Membership token within 30 days
I hope that breaks it down a little bit for everyone

I am trying gettin additional information regarding how the app is going to work and how it applies to your TV service as to what channels you will have..I'm sure that information will be available a few days before the app is released.
Ultimate Bundles will have 35/35 and 26 channels on the App
    Extreme HD .......
    Prime HD ...........

  • UNDF audio codec on Mac?

I have Windows 7 64-bit on my Boot Camp partition. I've installed Halo: Combat Evolved for PC on it and also installed FRAPS screen recording software. I want to record some gameplay clips on Windows, copy to a flash drive, and edit them on iMovie in my Mac. I have Mac OS X 10.6.7. The video format Fraps records is ".AVI". I can only play the video with working audio in Windows Media Player, and when I try using VLC in Windows it doesn't work either. When I tried Quicktime on OS X, or VLC for Mac, both said something about "undf" audio code. VLC for Mac is able to play video only, but no audio. Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Are there any drivers/codecs I need to download so I can edit/convert the video clips? Thanks.

    Try installing Perian:-
http://perian.org/ This should allow you to play your files under OSX

  • Video in OSX 10.4.3

is there any way i can take video of a game on my computer using my computer? Id love to make something that uses Halo: Combat Evolved. I need to take video of the game import it into iMovie adjust it and then edit then save it.
    PowerBook G4 17 1.67ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   Creature Speakers II, Norton Antivirus, 20gig 4th gen U2 iPod

For your own personal use, you may be able to do this with SnapZ Pro:

Some portions of the game may be copyright, so before doing this for anything other than personal use, check with Halo's maker what is and isn't copyrighted.

  • Problems with iTunes Cover Flow and Windows Vista

I just recently upgraded my computer to Windows Vista Home Premium (32-Bit). I preformed a clean install and every program I have tried so far (Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, Age of Empires 3, Halo: Combat Evolved, Microsoft Office XP, etc.) have worked fine, however, iTunes is having some problems (7.4.1.2). First, cover flow does not work right. It can get it to run, but it is super slow. It ran very smoothly on Windows XP, now on Vista it skips every over album cover and is very choppy. It seems like it is running at 3 FPS. Also, none of my videos will play in Quictime or iTunes. The strange thing is I can play the same videos in VLC and GOM and they work great. I just went to nVidia's web site and installed the latest drivers and my games runs fine so I don't think it is a driver issue but I am not sure.
    Any advice I would appreciate,
    Thanks

Well - you're not alone. I've got a very high-end video card (nVidia 8600 GTS OC), and am running Windows Vista Ultimate. Every aspect of 3D acceleration works great with my machine (World of Warcraft, Battlefield 2142, Half Life 2, Counterstrike: Source, etc.), except iTunes/Quicktime. I pretty much have the same issues: videos (all - .mov, .mp4) play absolutely horribly in both applications, and cover flow is slow/choppy at best. I think it's an iTunes/Vista issue that Apple has yet to touch, so I'm just waiting for January (I'll buy my first mac, a macbook pro, then), because for the first time in my life, I'll have an installation of iTunes that functions properly. I love iTunes. Just not on Windows machines. It leaves something to be desired.

  • LAN Games on Intel iMac

So I installed Windows XP on my computer yesterday to play Halo: Combat Evolved over lan with my Macbook. I set up an ad-hoc network using wireless and both computers are assigned an IP address. I am also able to ping each computer. The problem is, when I start a multiplayer game on my Macbook, it creates the session even though I am the only one on it. On the iMac, it says "could not connect to game" when it is the computer creating the session. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know re: those games specifically, but if/after you've tested then could you add them to the table at http://guides.macrumors.com/UniversalBinaryGames so other people know? Cheers

  • EAX available on what car

I was browsing around NewEgg's list of Audigy 2 sound cards and was looking for EAX. First of all, is EAX worth 5-0 extra dollars? I play Call of Duty and other games that have the potential for EAX 3.0 (possibly 4.0). Some of the products listed don't mention EAX, others do. I was looking at either the:

    Value 96 KHz sampling rate

I am willing to spend the extra 20 USDs to get the ZS, but would it be worth it's Is there anything special in the ZS that the Value cards don't have? Isn't a wider sampling rate better? Why exactly does the ZS require 600MB of hard dri've space anyways?Message Edited by Iam8up on 05-27-2005 07:23 PM

The different designations (Value, Gamer LE, etc.) usually denote differences in terms of additional products bundled with the core product (the audio accelerator itself). The Value, for example, is home to the smallest bundle, the Gamer (and later Gamer Limited Edition) have a very game-heavy bundle (in addition to the bundle from the original ZS Gamer, the Gamer LE includes both TOMB RAIDER: Angel of Darkness and HALO: Combat Evolved in full retail editions). The same updates apply to *all* Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS cards (except for the few updates exclusi've to the Platinum and Platinum eX/Platinum Pro), as they are all based around the identical E-Mu 0K2.5 audio accelerator. (In fact, you can install the Audigy 2 ZS software on a system which only has an original Audigy 2, without modification.)
