Handle unclosed after reading jar content
Hi
While attempting to build a simple dynamic plugin (or 'service', as in sun terminology) framework for my app,
I encountered a behavior which seems at least unwanted to me:
After opening a stream using a java.net.URL to a file inside a jar file, closing it wont close the handle on the jar file.
To make it easy, here is a simple piece of code that causes the problem:
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
InputStream inputstream = null;
BufferedReader bufferedreader = null;
try {
// URL to a local jar file
// the jar and service file do exist
URL url = new URL("jar", "", "file:/d:/temp/jars/ri.jar!/META-INF/services/test.plugin.Plugin");
inputstream = url.openStream();
bufferedreader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inputstream, "utf-8"));
// do some stuff
} finally {
if (inputstream != null) {
inputstream.close();
if (bufferedreader != null) {
bufferedreader.close();
// force garbage just in case
inputstream = null;
bufferedreader = null;
System.gc();
System.gc();
// pause before exit
// at this point, there is still a handle on the jar file from the JVM
System.out.print("pause;");
Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
in.nextLine();
}When reaching the 'pause' step, a handle exists on the file and makes any action on it impossible
(replacing it with a new one for instance). To confirm this, Process Explorer detects a handle from
the javaw process associated with this program on the jar file.
I've experienced this using the latest of jdk 6 and also with java 5 (on win XP)
So, is this a normal behavior ? Any idea how to avoid it ?
As I'm looking for dynamic plugin functionnalities, I'd like to keep this jar content as it is,
ie this file which lists implementations of the "test.plugin.Plugin" service among the classes
which are also stored in the jar.
Being able to release the jar file would mean I can replace it with another version on fly,
without restarting my app, and load it again to access the updated functionnalities, then
unload it again and so on.
Thanks in advance for any piece of advice on this issue.
in case anyone is interested, I seemed to have found a workaround, by disabling caching for the URL connection:
if we replace
inputstream = url.openStream();
bufferedreader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inputstream, "utf-8"));
// do some stuffwith
final URLConnection connection = url.openConnection();
inputstream = connection.getInputStream();
bufferedreader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inputstream, "utf-8"));
// do some stuff
connection.setDefaultUseCaches(false);the handle on the jar file is not kept after closing stream.

Itunes cannot read the contents of Iphone after updating to 2.1
Hi!
I have the original Iphone and I decided tonight to upgrade to the 2.1. At the end of the process, when it was restoring my iphone contents (pics, contacts etc.), an error came up "ITunes cannot read the contents of the Iphone" and it is telling me to restore to factory settings? My phone now is updated with all the new stuff but in Itunes it is not reading my Iphone. I am trying to make a ringtone from Itunes and I can't do it because of this problem.
Please help!Hi,
I've the same problem too.
I had made iPhone sync on my PC in the past. But my HDD went in trouble and I had to buy another and reinstall Windows, so I lost my iTunes library.
Having no sync was ok, since I was comfortable with the photos, applications and music in my iPhone.
But yesterday my iPhone went out of disk space, and my problem started. I then needed to sync. I tried to extract my paid applications from iPhone using "transfer purchases from my iPhone". Unsuccessful, since it did not copy every application. I've tried to download the applications again, but iTunes say I need to pay for them. And now, after some unsuccessful purchase transfers and backups, iTunes says "iTunes cannot read the contents of iPhone", so I think I'm forced to restore the original settings.
What should I do?
I don't want to pay again for the applications I already purchased.
I don't want to loose my application data.
I don't care about my music, photos and videos, cause I can get them elsewhere anyway.
Is there a way to save my iPhone, applications and data?
Thanks -
I am not able to Sync. My iPOD classic 80Gb. It tells that as iTunes can not read the contents-restore to factory settings- after restoring – it tells that it can not be restored bcause there are files that are used by other application. My iPOD appears in My Computer in drive H as a mass storage generick volume
Try disabilng the Enable Disk Use option from under the iPod's Summary tab, applying the changes, and seeing if that helps.
Otherwise, temporarily disabling any antivirus, security, firewall, or file indexing software that may be running on your system and then try restoring your iPod again.

ITunes can't read iPod contents after Archive & Install
Hi,
I recently had to replace the hard drive in my Mac Mini, and now that it is back up and running again iTunes will no longer sync with my iPod. When I start iTunes, I get the following error message:
iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "Timothy
Macinta's iPod". Go to the Summary tab in iPod
preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to
factory settings.
I would prefer to avoid restoring the iPod so that I can retain the play counts, ratings, etc. which I have changed on my iPod over the course of the last week when my computer was under the knife. It won't be a disaster if I can't do this and end up needing to restore the iPod, but I thought I would ask in case anybody had any tips.
For what it's worth, /Applications/iTunes.app is identical to what it was before the Archive & Install. So is ~/Music/iTunes/ . Are there other files or directories where iTunes keeps track of what iPods it knows about and which I could try restoring from my backup?
Thanks,
- TimI figured out how to fix the problem and I figured I would post a follow up in case anybody runs into the same problem. Since I originally posted, I discovered that iTunes had additional problems. Specifically, when I tried to play songs which had been downloaded from the iTunes Store, it asked me for my iTunes account and password and entering them produced an error that was something like: "A required iTunes component is not installed. (-42401)" I downloaded the latest iTunes directly from Apple:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
and then reinstalled it. Now I can play songs from the Store again and my iPod happily syncs. I don't know why it wasn't working before given that I had updated everything on the system, including iTunes, to the latest version with Software Update.

I have been getting this error message since about the end of June when I updated to the latest version of iTunes. It's pretty annoying. Let me lay out how this has been happening for the past month, the best I can. I have a 32GB 4th gen iPod Touch
I load content up to my iPod. Music, Apps, Videos, pictures, etc.
My iPod works well for a little while, days sometimes a week is the longest I went without seeing this message.
I connect iPod back to my laptop through the standard pack in Apple USB connector.
I get the "Itunes cannot read the contents of ipod. Go to the summary tab in Ipod preferences and click Restore to restore this ipod to factory settings." message. When I go to the preferences tab, I click restore and iTunes gets stuck trying to restore my iPod. Then I have to uplug my iPod. And Shutdown/Restart my PC reconnect my iPod, and go through the restore process again.
I have been doing this for as I said, a month. It's getting pretty grueling to keep havomh putting cotent on my iPod after these restores.
I've tried everything.
I've stopped autosync, it still happens.
I tried to reinstall iTunes(be it I didn't full uninstall before trying to install again and got the option to fix corrupted files and such
I've deleted all old back up, and it still happens
Today is the fist time I'm fully uninstalling iTunes, and then reinstalling to see if this works.
But do you guys have any otehr solutions for this? As I said, this didn't start happening until I installed the lastest version of iTunes 10.6.3- Have you tried another cable?
- Another USB port?
- When you have the problem, connect it to another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.
- Try just restoring the iPod to factory settings/new iPod. Do not restore from backup. If you still have the problem with this and all computer that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -

Files are with minimum 10,000+ records...so can you tell me how i can upload & read into memory.I would read the documentation for that tool you are using to do the file upload. I am not at all interested in rummaging through that unformatted mess of code you dumped there. You're looking for something that can upload to an OutputStream rather than a File, then use that to output to a ByteArrayOutputStream.
Or something that can give you an InputStream that reads directly from the upload. -
How to call jsp after reading from ServletInputStream?
if the client submit a form including FILE type, I usually use ServletInputStream
to read it and return next page by calling JSP file. but In weblogic6.0Sp1, the
server will report a exception: One of the getParameter family of methods called
after reading from the ServletInputStream(), can't mix these two!
can anyone help me? thanx a lot.
I've seen these messages in the WLS 5.1.0 logs when POSTing to servlets.
All the reading is done in the servlet and then a JSP handles the view
rendering. However, I don't actually call getParameter() or it's kin
anywhere. I thought maybe something inside the JSP generated servlet is
calling getParameter(), but I've looked at the generated code and can't find
any calls. If I had a stack trace it would be easier to sort out.
Is this a warning or an error? Is there a bad side effect. I imagine the
getParameter() call would fail.

HELP... Since last week, I can not awake from sleep. After reading a review I downloaded Deep Sleep, but after the first deep sleep, my MBP (late 2011 with Mountain Lion), developed a problem restarting from sleep. I straight away uninstalled Deep Sleep, but the problem has increased.
Now when I try to awake from sleep, a grey screen with the apple logo appears with a progress bar underneath it, which slowly moves to the forelast indicator, then it stops and a audio signal starts. Three bleeps and pause.
Then when I press the on/off botton and restart the system, the underneath error reports appears with the heading RAPPORTD unexpectedly failed.
Can any one help?

I am doing a project for internet control using Java,PHP and MySql.All sites should go through the proxy server only.If the HTTP header contains Content-Length,am getting the content length as below:
public class HTTPResponseReader extends HTTPMessageReader
String statusCode;
public HTTPResponseReader(InputStream istream) throws IOException, NoSuchElementException
BufferedInputStream distream = new BufferedInputStream(istream);
retrieveHeader(distream);
StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(new String(HTTPMessageReader.toArray(header)));
versionProtocol = st.nextToken();
statusCode = st.nextToken();
String s;
while (st.hasMoreTokens())
s = st.nextToken();
if (s.equals("Transfer-Encoding:"))
transferEncoding = new String(st.nextToken());
if (s.equals("Content-Length:"))
contentLength = Integer.parseInt(st.nextToken());
if (s.equals("Connection:"))
connection = new String(st.nextToken());
if (connection.equals("keep-alive")) mustCloseConnection = false;
retrieveBody(distream);
}After getting the Content-Length,i used read method to read the content upto that content length.Then i concatenated the HTTP header and body and the requested site was opened.But some sites dont have Content-Length.Instead of that,Transfer-Encoding is used.I got the HTTP Response header as "Transfer-Encoding:chunked" for some sites.If this encoding is used how to get the length of the message body and how to read the content.
Can anybody help me.
Thanks in advance...

VeeraLakshmiWhy don't you use HttpUrlConnection class to retrieve data from HTTP server? This class already supports chunked encoding...
If you want to do anything by yourself then you need to read HTTP RFC and find all required information. Well in two words you may reject advanced encoding by specifying HTTP 1.0 in your request or download chunked answer manually. Read RFC anyway :) -
How to Modify Override Handler class in jsse.jar
Hi,
Is there a way to change port number in Handler class in jsse.jar and recompile the Java file, or override the class?
The Handler class seems to be using port number 443, whereas the the Webserver of PS Application is using a different port number (7004).
Any ideas.
Thanks
JayYou're over-thinking this. The Handler class uses whatever port it is told to use by the person that constructs it. 443 is just the default.
All you have to do is put the required port number into the https URL, e.g. https://www.myhost.com:7004. -
Help required please. "Itunes can not read the contents of my iphone"
Greetings all,
I know this question has been asked before and I apologize for asking again but all the solutions provided don't seam to work for me, can anyone help me please.
I am receving the message: "Itunes can not read the contents of the iPhone. Go to the summary tab In iPhone Preferences and click restore torestore this Iphone to factory settings".
Now a little about my iphone, Itunes and my laptop and what steps i havealready tried.
I have an iPhone 4 running software 5.0
My itunes version is 10.5.0.142
I know these are not the most up to date versions but I have had this issue for almost 3 months now and updating the software back then was the first step I tried. I don’t believe updating to the latest will fix this issue as updating the last two times did nothing.
Every so often after starting Itunes, The program will stop responding and will require the three finger death kill (CTRL, ALT, DELETE) to open task manager to end the task of Itunes. Once it shuts down, I restart the iTunes and it runs smoothly, apart from not reading my iPhone.
When I run a diagnostic in itunes under the help tab, I get these fail messages:
Network Connectivity test: Secure link to Itunes store fail
Device connectivity test: Under support services: Itunes helper is not running. And under ports: No iPod, iPhone or iPad found.
Device Sync test: No iPod touch, iPhone or iPad found.
*See below for full diagnostic report*
I have restored back to factory settings twice.
I have shut down and restarted both my iPhone and laptop.
I am running Windows 7 32-bit on my laptop.
I am using ZoneAlarm as my fire wall, and have been disabling it when syncing my iPhone to prevent other error messages.
The iPhone is plugged into a genuine Iphone USB cable and is plugged into a USB port not a USB hub on my laptop, I have tried plugging it into all 4 USB ports and this issue still persist. The Cable is less then 5 months old, is not frayed or damaged in any way, have also borrowed 2 other cables from friends and still the same issue.
The iPhone does not even come up in windows explorer as a digital camera.
The iPhone is NOT jailbroken
I do not live close to a so called genius bar, however I have made the journey to them on 3 separate occasions last year when I first received my iPhone for a different issue, the so called genius's could not fix the problem so they just gave me a new (refurbished) iPhone, which did not extend my warranty. I will not be taking the iPhone back to them as I believe they can not resolve many issues, this is why I am reaching out to the power of the people in the wider apple community.
I have read in other forums about ifunbox and other programs for jail broken iPhones to isolate folders “iTunesDB” and "iTunesCDB" and delete them. If this is the issue is there a way to access these files through windows explorer as my iphone is not jailbroken.
I hope I have provided enough information and someone can help me fix this issue. If I have left anything out, please let me know. I thank everyone in advance for your patience and support.
Thanks
Hoggie27

ITunes Reports "iTunes Cannot read the contents of the iPod...."
This morning I connected my 2 week old iPod Classic to my laptop via the USB cable and iTunes came up and displayed a message saying "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod MHAM'S IPOD". It suggested a restore, which I have not tried yet. I have faithfully used the "Eject" function in iTunes to disconnect. After reading some other posts in the forums, it appears that others are having a similar issue. I'm concerned that this is normal operating behavior for this product. Given that this is my first Apple brand purchase, I'm a little turned off to the brand. Does anyone have a suggestion that doesn't involve me wiping this thing clean and starting over? And is this something that I should just expect? I ran a diagnostic and the results are below.

The iPod updater logging file cannot be found.I had this same exact issue happen to me this morning, and I lost 40 gigs worth of transferring in restoring it. I put a few albums on for the day, and when I tried connecting again this evening, the same thing happened. It hit me when it happened the second time that both times I had the iPod locked when it connected it to the computer. I'm pretty sure I've never accidentally connected it while locked before. My guess it that it is unable to read the content since the iPod is locked, and somehow this causes some sort of corruption that prevents it from seeing the files until a restoration is done. I would think Apple should be able to release an update which would detect if the iPod was locked and tell you to unlock it rather than to go through this process of losing all your music from the iPod. It scares me to think this could happen again simply if I am absent-minded in the future and forget to check whether it is locked or not before I connect it.

Issue in reading the contents of the file
Hi all,
How to read the contents of a text file and assign it to a single context variable and sent it to database I am using File upload control to upload the file. Up to my thing file upload control will give us the path of the file. We need to get the url and read it from it. If i am wrong please correct me and give suggestion to solve this.
Thanks in advance.On UPLOAD click do this:
public void onActionLoadFile(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
//@@begin onActionLoadFile(ServerEvent)
WDWebResourceType FileType = null;
String FileName = new String();
//get attribute info for context attribute 'FileUpload'
IWDAttributeInfo attributeInfo =
wdContext.getNodeInfo().getAttribute(
IPrivateEmailView.IContextElement.FILE_UPLOAD);
//get modifiable binary type from the attribute info,requires type cast.
IWDModifiableBinaryType binaryType =
(IWDModifiableBinaryType) attributeInfo.getModifiableSimpleType();
IPrivateEmailView.IContextElement element =
wdContext.currentContextElement();
//if a file in the 'FileResource' attribute exists
if (element.getFileUpload() != null) {
try {
String mimeType = binaryType.getMimeType().toString();
byte[] file = element.getFileUpload();
//get the size of the uploaded file
element.setFileSize(this.getFileSize(file));
//get the extension of the uploaded file
element.setFileExtension(binaryType.getMimeType().getFileExtension());
//NOTE: context attribute 'FileName' must not be set
//because the FileUpload-UI-element property 'fileName'
//is bound to it. Consequently the fileName is automatically
//written to the context after file upload.
//report success message
wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportMessage(
IMessageEmailComp.SF_UPLOAD,
new Object[] { binaryType.getFileName()},
false);
FileType = binaryType.getMimeType();
FileName = binaryType.getFileName();
} catch (Exception e) {
throw new WDRuntimeException(e);
//if no file in the 'FileResource' attribute exists
else {
//report error message
IWDMessageManager msgMgr = wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager();
msgMgr.reportContextAttributeMessage(
element,
attributeInfo,
IMessageEmailComp.NO_FILE,
new Object[] { "" },
true);
//clear the FileResource context value attribute
//element.setFileUpload(null);
String URL;
URL = this.CreateAndGetPathFileUpload(
wdContext.currentContextElement().getFileUpload(),
FileName);
// if (URL.length() == 1){
// //ERROR
wdContext.currentContextElement().setPATHFileUploaded(URL);
//@@end
private String CreateAndGetPathFileUpload(byte[] FileUpload, String FileName){
String URL = new String();
try {
FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(FileName);
fos.write(FileUpload);
fos.close();

return URL;
Forgot the method that give you the URL file.

How to read the contents of Input Field created via Screen Painter?
Hi All,
I have a module program / dialog program, on my second screen, I created an input/outbox field via screen painter of course,
now in my PAI, how can I read the contents of the input/outbox field?
Let's say the name of my input/outbox field is: P_WEKRS. Note: Get Parameter and Set Parameter is ticked.
PROCESS AFTER INPUT.
LOOP WITH CONTROL TC_DATA.
MODULE MODIFY_DATA.
ENDLOOP.
I want to get the value of the input/outbox field before my loop in table control? I thought that it will work like normal parameter in non-dialog programs.
Any helpful inputs will be appreciated/rewarded.
Thanks.
JaimeHi, Jaime
Do the following Change in you Follow Logic
PROCESS AFTER INPUT.
MODULE read_or_change_value. " Add this
LOOP WITH CONTROL TC_DATA.
MODULE MODIFY_DATA.
ENDLOOP.
Add the Bellow Module code in you Driver Program.
MODULE read_or_change_value.
DATA: P_WEKRS like " the Field on Screen. Must be the same name as on SCREEN. and Type must be same too.
" Here you will find the Value in that Variable or if you will change the Value here you will find it change on Screen
END MODULE.
Please Reply if any Issue..
Best Regards,
Faisal
