Handle WSDL data connection timeout during PDF generation

     I have created in LiveCycle Designer XDP template. In template i defined WSDL Data connection. For data loading i call xfa.connectionSet.WsDataConnection.execute(0).
     For PDF generation i created LiveCylce process and use generatePDFOutput component.
If WebService works output service generates document with all data - OK.
If i turn off webservice and run process ouputservice generates PDF document with empty fields. Is where any possibility to raise execption to calling process if WSDL connection timeouts or gives SOAP fault error in response?
I want catch web service errors in process and do not generate PDF if some webservice used in PDF template is not accesible during generation.

Hi Martin,
We are experiencing the same issue with SAP/Vertex. Can you let me know how you resolve this? Did you change the SAP gateway timeout parameter? If so, which one is it?
Your help on this is greatly appreciated.
Thanks much!

  • WSDL data connection error after Form Server xdp render

    Hi
    I have a wsdl data connection inside an xdp after I render the xdp as pdf and reader extend the form when I click on the button to execute the web service method a pop up box appears saying the data connection has no properties. I am using LiveCycle Forms and Reader Extensions 8.1.
    Thanks

    Hi Paul
    Thanks for the reply.
    Reader extensions wasn't the problem, it was how I was manipulating the xdp before rendering.

  • WSDL Data connection not working - SAP Interactive Forms(Adobe Based)

    Greetings,
    I am trying to explore the features of Adobe based forms in SAP (WAS 6.4) and have been trying to create an interactive form.
    I am trying to use the WSDL file Data Connection but with no success. This is what I have been doing, starting with a blank form in the "Layout" tab,
       - In the "Data View", created a "New Data Connection".
       - Selected "WSDL file" Option.
       - Browsed to and selected the desired WSDL file.
       - Selected the WebService Option listed (Only one in my case).
    The WebService in this case is programed to "Request" two numbers and "Response" back the sum. (This was just for trial).
    - The connection subsequently appeared in the "Data View".
       - Expanded the "Request" and "Response" trees and dragged the elements to the "Body Page" screen.
       - Dragged the Data Connection Button to the screen.
       - On the Properties of the Button, Went to the "Object" tab and then to the "Execute" tab.
       - Checked "Re-Merge Form Data" and Run at "Client and Server"
       - Generated the PDF Preview
       - On the preview, entered the values for the "Requested" fields and clicked the button. It displays the error message "Couldn't post data to ".
    This was my long story, but with this background, what I want to know is:
       - How do i get it to work, I expected to see the sum in the field.
       - What is meant by running at "Client or Server".
    We do use a proxy server to connect to the Internet.
    As a bottom line, I intend to make an interactive form with which I can display real-time transactional data on the form from our R/3 46C server based on a user input on the form itself (eg: PO info on entering of PO number on the form output itself)
    Best Regards,
    Sanyam Kapur

    Hi Sanyam,
    Looking for messages with zero reply I have found yours.
    Even if it is some time ago, when you posted the message, I would like to give some hints here:
    Web Dynpro does not allow to access data coming directly from a Web Service and display it within a pdf file. You need to create a Web Service modell first. Then you would bind the InteractiveForm property to the context and the data can be shown.
    Hope that helps.

  • OID Firewall / Data Connection Timeouts

    Hello
    I have an OID cluster (11.1.0.5) setup within our environment and have a firewall installed between the OID servers and the database servers.  The defualt connection timeout for the DB connection was increased to three hours, but after three hours I keep getting the periodic failures of OID / enterprise manager.  I have set the idle connection timeout and retries in the OID configuration, but this still seems to occur even with the timeouts / retries configured.  Is there a max session length or some other way to tell OID to close db connections after a period of time so that the max session is not reached?
    Also, if I am just querying OID with a script, it seems to work past the three hours but I think this is more of a cache thing whereby it is responding with cached entries.  When I go to enterprise manager and try to manage OID, I will get the failure after the timeout with a LDAP error code 49 error and need to submit a bunch of requests to OID to refresh the connection to the database.
    Any help you can give would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Nick

    Alex,
    Thanks for the prompt reply.
    Not having Maximum times in ODP will make things complicated and a myriad of race conditions can occur.
    There is an involved example of a Transaction Timeout Cancel that I could implements with a an application Maximum timer on page 5-27 of the Oracle Data Provider for .NET Developer's Guide and it is not easy to implement
    However, it is not described anywhere on how to implement a Maximum Connection Timeout.
    In the example below from the docs the application will block at the Open() call:
    // Connect
    string constr = "User Id=scott;Password=tiger;Data Source=oracle";
    OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection(constr);
    con.Open();
    So do we do the following:
    // Connect
    string constr = "User Id=scott;Password=tiger;Data Source=oracle";
    OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection(constr);
    *//Set_Application Timer*
    con.Open();
    OnApplicationTimer()
    con.Close()
    //Do application timeout processing
    What will the Close() do for us here? What will happen if the Connection open is still in progress when we try to close it?
    Should we forget attempting to Close() and wait until Oracle decides to return in the first method as shown below?
    OnApplicationTimer()
    //Do application timeout processing but don't explicitly send Close()
    // Connect
    string constr = "User Id=scott;Password=tiger;Data Source=oracle";
    OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection(constr);
    *//Set_Application Timer*
    con.Open();
    //Eventually it will timeout. If succesful, clo0se immediatly since it is too lpate.

  • Disappearing Frame files during PDF generation

    I am running FrameMaker v6.0p405 on Windows XP SP3. I use a FrameScript to generate a book and save it as a PDF. On random occassions, during the generation process Frame displays an error that a file is missing. Upon check of the folder location of the file, the file is gone. This happens randomly... not one specific file or book. I see reference to this problem in the Forum archives and also with a google search with no resolutions.
    The FrameMaker files are on a network drive which is backed up using Sonic Wall. Could the backup system be causing this?

    Hi, Larry,
    We've periodically had folks report that actually saving FM files across a network (as opposed to just copying/moving after the files have been created and saved locally) can cause erratic difficulties, as can an "overactive" backup system, so there may be two culprits at play.
    Could your script be modified to save the book & chapters locally and then move it to the network?
    Perhaps other folks might chime in with some suggestions.

  • Problem downloading ios 5 - connection timeout during processing

    After waiting 6mins for the ios 5 download, it reaches the last stage 0.01kb before completion with the message 'processing' and then it cancels and I get a message saying 'connection timeout error'. All my other internet services and downloads are working fine. I have installed and reinstalled itunes 10.5.
    Is anyone else experiancing this? And what can I do??

    Interesting all the issues with upgrading to IOS 5 for the IPhone 4. When I upgraded mine several weeks ago it took 3 attempts then worked. My daughter has had no end of trouble with hers....15 20 times, keeps coming up with errors. Same issues as everyone else. Just tried one fix that was noted.......turn off firewall and bingo all worked. It is a pity issues like this aren't recognised by Apple and resolved.....Anyway one happy IPhone 4 user. Thanks guys

  • Data Connection drops during a Phone call on iPhone 5

    Does anyone have a weird issue of data dropping completely during the call? When I place a call the 3g icon disappears completely and nothing that requires data works until I hung up. Once I hang up the 3g service is restored pretty much instantly.

    What carrier are you using?
    Some carriers don't support Internt Data while on calls.
    Talk to your cell service provider for details about your service.

  • Export bindings for WSDL data connection bug

    Looks like Adobe cannot handle complex types when using repeating data sets (for exporting to a wsdl connection). I try binding a complex type (containing a number of text elements) to a repeating subform but it only ever exports the last element. If I remove the complex type and replace it with a single element, it works. I have even tried dragging the entire data structure onto the form but it still won't recognise the repeating dataset. Any help? Thanks..

    Hi Jeremy, I wrote to Stephan Cameron (an Adobe Forms guru) and he said that its a bug with Adobe, but that it is fixed in the next release of Acrobat. Which means if you update your Acrobat to the latest version it may work now. I haven't tried this though as we ended up doing something different (just exporting multiple single elements which seems to work). You can check out his comment here: http://forms.stefcameron.com/bug-list/

    Hi,
    Increase the values (TIMEOUT AND PROCTIMEOUT, and keep_alive_timeout) as seen below example for the R/3 parameters (via SMICM):
    icm/keep_alive_timeout
    old value: <your_old_value>
    new value: 900
    You will also see the parameters where PROT=HTTP. Change the values here too similar to as seen below:
    icm/server_port_0
    old value: PROT=HTTP,PORT=<your_port>,HOST=<your_host>,TIMEOUT=<your_old_value>, PROCTIMEOUT=<your_old_value>
    new value: PROT=HTTP,PORT=<your_port>,HOST=<your_host>,TIMEOUT=900,PROCTIMEOUT=900
    icm/server_port_<n>
    old value: PORT=<your_port_value>,PROT=HTTP
    new value: PORT=<your_port_value>,PROT=HTTP,TIMEOUT=900,PROCTIMEOUT=900
    You could also take a look into these notes:
    #824554 - ICM and SAP Web Dispatcher Timeout Parameter
    Afterwards, restart the system for the new values to take effect.

  • WSDL data connection problem, error attempting to read from file...

    Hi, I got the exact same error messsage as described in this thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3136286#3136286
    I tried all the suggestions in the thread, but nothing worked.
    My process is like this:
    At the process initiator step, it uses form "A" (and Webservices calls work perfectly there),
    the initiator fills up form "A", "Complete"s it,
    and it goes to the next person, where it uses form "B",
    and Webservices calls fail to work from the form "B".
    However, when I replace form "A" with form "B",
    that is, use form "B" at the initiator step,
    the Webservices calls on form "B" work just fine.
    Any idea why this happened?
    thanks.

    I found a solution to this.  The 'DataDescription' elements in the data XML are the cause of the problem.  Apparently Acrobat/Reader is not able to handle the elements from form 'A' when loading that data into form 'B'.
    My solution was to modify my process to:
    1.) Create an xml variable (call it 'xmlData')
    2.) Create an XDP "wrapper" by setting the value of xmlData in a 'Set Value' operation.  Since my top-level form element is called 'TopLevelFormElement', my "wrapper" (the value for 'xmlData') was:
    deserialize('<xdp:xdp xmlns:xdp="http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/" xmlns:dd="http://ns.adobe.com/data-description/"
    xmlns:impl="http://adobe.com/idp/services" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xfa="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/">
    <xfa:datasets>
            <xfa:data>
                <TopLevelFormElement>
                </TopLevelFormElement>
            </xfa:data>
        </xfa:datasets>
    </xdp:xdp>')
    3.) Copy the form data from the original (call it 'originalXmlData') to 'xmlData' by setting this mapping in a 'Set Value' operation:
    //process_data/xmlData//TopLevelFormElement  = /process_data/originalXmlData//TopLevelFormElement
    4.) At this point, you have a set of data (xmlData) that contains all of your form data but is free of the 'DataDescription' elements that cause problems.  Pass 'xmlData' into form 'B'.
    5.) Data should be processed as expected in form 'B', and web service calls should be operational.

  • Display error message on jsp if there is an exception during pdf generation

    I am displaying pdf from my application and when the pdf document is found, it is displaying properly. Only problem is when the document is not found i want to display the jsp with an error message to the user. I am using IE and IE has a bug that it calls the servlet twice to display pdf. Now during the first call to the Servlet i have set the response ContentType
    response.setContentType("application/pdf");I want to change the content type back tp "text/html" before displaying the jsp with the error message. How should i do that. I tried to change the content type by doing response.setContentType("text/html"); in the servlet. But this is not working. I am still getting the same error. which is a diagol box in Acrobat saying "File does not begin with %PDF~"

  • Network connection timeout during iPhone upgrade

    This topic has been mentioned many times but it seems there are still many unresolved cases. So here's another appeal for help, maybe someone will go "AHA" !
    I have disabled my firewall by stopping the service. I disable my anti virus software. My connection is hardwired. The connection is FiOs and very fast. The computer is pretty "vanilla" as I don't tinker with it. Another phone/computer in the household is able to upgrade.
    The download appears to finish but fails in the processing file step. I assume there is some additional communication back to apple at this point that is timing out for some reason.
    Can anyone suggest a workaround? Or perhaps a suggestion of some other windows or network settings that can cause this failure. Something on my system is clearly blocking the communication as I have never been able to upgrade on this computer.
    Thanks.

    Hi
    I have the same problem. After waking up the MBP from sleep, my connection to my external Volume via AFP is lost. (ML 10.8.2.)
    Though i checked a lot of forums, but didn't find out how to solve this problem.
    I hope, somebody will find a solution …

  • PDF form with XML data connection comes up blank at run time

    Hello All,
    I am a newbie to ADOBE Livecycle 9, but am very proficient in C#.  I would like to request for your guidance on the following issue.
    We have a desktop application in C#, WPF, Sqlserver. The requirement is to launch a Livecycle form from the application for the user to read/edit/save data
    I have done this much so far -
    Downloaded trial version of Livecycle 9
    Developed a interactive PDf form
    Created an XML based data connection. Generated fields on the form using the fields from this connection.
    Set the .XML file as preview source for the form
    the controls on the form are boumd to the xml data source
    In design mode, the form works fine, it displays my data correctly
    I have created a WPF form with a button. On click of this button, I call the Process.Start(pdf-file-path). My pdf is launched properly
    I have added a combo box to my WPF form. I select a parameter from this, then call a stored procedure which returns me a datatable depending on parameter passed
    Using the returned datatable, I have used the datatable.writexml and datatable.writexmlschema to create my XML and XSD files. as mentioned above, this xsd is used to create the data connection for the PDF and the XML for the preview source
    This is what I want to do -
    Launch the PDF from my WPF form, pre-populated with the newly created XML data from my WPF form.
    So basically, as the user changes the selection criteria from the combo box, the XML file data will change and the PDF file will be launched each time with new data.
    The XSD format will always be constant
    Problem -
    My XML and XSD get created properly, my PDF launches, but it is empty
    If I change my selection criteria and run the WPF application, and then open the PDF in design mode, it asks me whether it should refresh the XML source. This means that the PDF form is connecting correctly to the XML source
    So why then, does the form come up empty at run time?
    What link am I missing?
    I have found some sites that help using Web applications, but nothing for desktop applications. It would be fantastic if you could point me to some help for developing Livecycle forms with C# / SQLServer
    Your help in this case will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards

    Oops, something happended with the above post. I will try again... I have tried your suggestion but I still get the same garbled XML (with data repeated and some values "cut in half".<br /><br />Here is what I get after decode-service and extract-to-XML-service. This is just the first barcode, the others are similar, sorry for the poor formatting, but I get a CDATA tage infront of the "istensen" value.<br />                                                              <br />CDATA:istensen</fld_ForMellemEfterNavn<br />><fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />>Superroad 99, 1330 Supertown</fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />><fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />>20724283</fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />></sub_Person<br />></sub_PktA<br />><fld_BlanketNr<br />>kb0371ff</fld_BlanketNr<br />><fld_BarcodeCount<br />/></form1<br />>/sub_Adresse<br />><sub_Person<br />><fld_ForMellemEfterNavn>Kim Christensen</fld_ForMellemEfterNavn<br />><fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />> Superroad 99, 1330 Supertown </fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />><fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />>20724283</fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />></sub_Person<br />></sub_PktA<br />><fld_BlanketNr<br />>kb0371ff</fld_BlanketNr<br />><fld_BarcodeCount<br />/></form1<br /><br />Obviously this is not a legal xml-string, so I can do nothing about it.<br /><br />I have tried using a custom .NET component (ClearImage) for reading the same form (with the barcode) I get the correct data out from the barcodes. So I guess something is wrong with the decode-service in Barcoded Forms ES when I use compressed XML. But I can conclude since the ClearImage component can read the barcodes that they are compressed correctly.<br /><br />Can you help me with getting further with this problem?<br /><br />Sincerely<br />Kim

  • PDF Data Connection with Access 2003

    Who ever can help me!
    I am trying to make a data connection on my pdf form using "Adobe Live Cycle designer 7.0" to my access database.
    I already did the conncetion...the problem here is that once the submit button is clicked i don't have any returned data on my database access...
    I don't know if i am clear!!

    Ok That is good .....did you bind the fields on your form to the fields in the data connection?
    This is difficult to debug without having the DB and the form to look at.

  • How can I speed up PDF generation?

    I am working on 2 manuals in Frame 10, unstructured. I have installed all the latest FM patches. The smaller manual is 270 pages with 200 graphics inserted by reference. It takes 2.5 hours to "Save as PDF." The larger manual is 500 pages, 250 graphics and takes 3 hours to "Save as PDF".
    I have converted graphics to smaller .jpg files. I have freed up as much space on my PC as possible - it has 4GB memory and 300 GB hard drive space available, dual processor with i3 chip. I delete Temp files and reboot before creating PDF.
    If I turn off graphics (Esc+v+v), the PDF is created in just a few minutes.
    What else can I do to produce a complete PDF with graphics in a reasonable amount of time?

    I am a lone writer working on a single PC. No network drives. I open all files in the book before creating PDF.
    Many of the graphics are product photos - how to assemble, etc. I was provided with .psd and .jpg versions. Originally inserted the .psd ones, but then consultant advised us to use the .jpg instead. PDF generation is extremely long either way. Also had numerous huge .tif files that I saved to much smaller .jpg.
    Manuals will be localized and printed. What type of graphics are advised in this case - for good print quality and efficient PDF generation?

    Are the Frame files and/or the imported objects coming from network servers? If so, you might get a speed up by saving to manual to the local machine prior to printing, and printing to PostScript, where the .ps file is on the local machine. Then Distill separately (if you have the full Acrobat product). Distilling separately* at least frees up Frame for that part of the rendering. I have converted graphics to smaller .jpg files. From what? And I wouldn't have bet that using JPEG would help. The files may be smaller, but they still need to be filtered for export to Ps or PDF, and if they are raster, they may be subject to further processing during PDF generation based on the subsampling specified. You might try sending the objects as EPS (which requires minimal processing into Ps), and you might try making sure that raster images are already at the desired dpi, and require no further downsampling in the rendering flow.
