Handoff not working between ios 8 and Yosemite 10.10

I have An iMac late 2012  Processor 2.7, memory *GB 1600 MHz  just had it all backed up on an external drive .Installed new Yosemite 10.10 I have an iPhone 5S
my problem is the handoff between them is not working.

First, verify that the Mac is capable of using Handoff. Hold down the option key and select System Information... from the Apple menu. In the System Information window, select Bluetooth from the list on the left. Near the top of the summary of "Hardware, Features, and Settings," you should see this line:
          Handoff Supported: Yes
Follow the instructions in this support article. All the devices using Handoff must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If the Mac also has an Ethernet connection, disconnect the Ethernet cable.
If Handoff still doesn't work, on the mobile device, turn Handoff off and back on as directed in the linked article. On the Mac, turn Bluetooth off and back on. You might have to restart a mobile device to get it working.

  • Handoff not working between iPad and iPhone

i have installed ios 8 on both my iPhone 5 & iPad 4th generation. They are both on the same wifi network & both have Bluetooth switched on. In settings I have made sure hand off is switched on.
I can make a regular call on my iPad but that's where the continuity seems to end. I don't see a button to open Safari on the lockscreen when it is in use on another device, I cant pass a half written email from one device to another, or see Pages documents etc. I'm at a loss.

I know it can be frustrating sometimes when things aren't working well but I must say  I think you are being a bit unfair. At the end of the day Apple are a business not a charity. I'm sure they love being able to survive being the company for rich people.
"I have to BUY A NEW COMPUTER TWO YEARS LATER to use your shiny new "killer" app??"
The two year old computer you have works fine, you don't have to update anything. You survived without the "Killer app" prior to it's release.
Also they have released a brand new operating system that they will give you FREE OF CHARGE that is backwards compatible to the iPhone 4s. Thant's a pretty good effort considering they could quite easily not bother.
Complaining that a phone company is just "another money hungry capitalist maw" and that "EVERYTHING THEY DO is designed to make you keep spending more and more money" seems a bit naïve. It's like complaining that politicians are only interested in getting votes. It's what they do.
I'm not trying to start an online fight. It just seems like a waste of energy getting angry about a tech company. Why not switch to another make of phone. Life's too short to be getting angry about stuff like this.

  • HT6337 handoff not working between MBPR and iPhone 6

    tried everything

I got a similar problem. Phone calls, SMS work fine, even Handoff works fine one way, from my iPhone (5S) to my MacBook Pro (13" retina late 2012), but not the other way. I literally tried everything, no idea whats wrong.
Edit: all devices run the latest (final) os versions.

  • HT5887 Why doesn't AirDrop work between iOS and OSX?

Apple has almost always never fail to seamlessly integrate its devices, until now? I understand that there is iCloud for content sharing between devices. However, AirDrop was introduced as a simpler way for users to not only share contents between their own devices but as well as other users. I understand that the logic behind AirDrop was practiced by windows users since the creation of modem, though it requires many complex steps and compatibility checks to achieve a simple logic. (and Windows never really bothered with perfecting it over all these years, its improved, still buggy)
My question is, why can't we share contents between iOS and OSX? Everytime I need to transfer some files/content, the quickest way I could think of is to send an email to myself. Just the other day I tried to have my colleague AirDrop a file from his 5S to my MBP. I told him with great confidence that this tech existed long ago, and finally Apple decide to kick some DOS *** and launch a super simple version. And that it should by right work with any device with BT and/or WiFi, but knowing Apple, it would only be for their own products. Not in my wildest dreams it didn't work cross OS.
Forget the embarassment, I want to be pampered by this seamless technology. I want the type of exclusiveness with my fellow family and friends of which majority are Apple lovers. I want to regain the confidence that whenever I step out of my room, whichever device I carry/left out, I can do/resume/engage everything as long as I carry an Apple device.
Music, Videos, E-mails, Docs, Images, iMessages, are all checked. So why not Content Sharing?

  • Facetime not working between USA and Thailand

Facetime does not work between my iPhone4 and new iPod Touch via USA and Thailand but works fine locally.

    Abpd08-
It sounds like you are having a problem with the WiFi link(s).  For each iPad, unplug the WiFi router for a few seconds.  Then reset the iPad's network.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will need to reconnect the iPad to WiFi.  (If both iPads use the same WiFi router, you only need to unplug it once.)

  • Handoff not working between iPad Mini Retina and 2014 Macbook Air

So, I've upgraded to Yosemite today on my 2014 Macbook Air and have updated to iOS 8.0.2 on my iPad Mini Retina.
Both are on the same wifi network. Both have bluetooth enabled and are paired.
Both have handoff enabled on them.
With all that, I cannot for the life of me get handoff/continuity to work between them. I've reset both machines and reset network settings on the iPad but still no joy.
    Am I missing something?
PS I don't have an iPhone, but I'm assuming it should work between an MBA and iPad?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello JMC1989,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like there is a problem with handoff. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • Group Messages Not Working between Android and iPhone Users on iOS7

    Hi there,
I am a former iPhone user.  I recently converted both my line and my wife's line from the IPhone 5 to a Motorola X Android phone.  We kept our same phone numbers, but we completely switched from Verizon to AT&T.  I have noticed that text messaging works perfectly on an individual basis when I correspond with individuals who have the iPhone, but Group Messaging is not working correctly.  I am able to send messages to a group and they receive them just fine, but when they respond back to me, I do not receive their responses (as it appears they are going through as iMessages).  My wife is having the same issue on her phone.  After doing some detective work, I have found that hundreds of other users are having the same issues on their smartphones when they make the switch from an Apple product to an Android phone.  There are a variety of "bug fixes" listed on the web, but I have completed all of them and I am still having the same issue.  Here is what I have done so far...
*Factory reset both of our phones and removed the SIM cards (since we are with a new phone carrier)
*Changed both of our apple ID passwords
*Removed both of our phone numbers from Apple's database all together
*Unregistered both of our iPhone products with Apple
*Had all of my friends/family switch SMS to "On" in their Settings tab
So now what?  I read one post on an Apple forum that said that they are aware of the issue and we can expect a fix in a future iOS update...but when is that going to occur, if at all?  It is problems like these that led me to leave Apple all together, and here I am after having left the company, and I am still left high and dry searching for solutions to my problems.  Who can help, and how can I remedy the situation?
Anything you can provide to help out would be great.
    Thanks.

There are reports of iOS7 altering the settings on iMessage's connection to the iPhone. Verify that each of the iPhone and the Mac is receiving on the "channel" (phone number or email address) on which the other is initiating iMessages.

  • Home sharing not working between itunes and apple tv, I've read all help articles I could find... still nothing

    Hey there!
Here's every detail of the problem:
1- My iTunes (10.5.2) doesn't give me any options for apple tv in any menu. Some troubleshooting article I remember said something like «go to Settings - Apple TV - Always Search for Apple TVs» or something like that, yet my itunes settings have NOTHING for Apple TV.
2- Following all setup instructions and usual troubleshooting solutions, i KNOW that all options and settings available to me are set correctly and everything  should work normally, yet my iTunes shows no recognition of my Apple TV AND my Apple TV «Computers» menu is nothing but a «Home Sharing is turned on, make sure that all Home Sharing devices are using the same Apple ID account» message.
3- Of course, yes, all my devices ARE setup with the same Apple ID account, with Home Sharing turned on everywhere. Also I'm not using a Firewall, and none of my devices have any trouble connecting to my one and only router, all at once.
So I figure the main problem is my itunes acting like Apple TV doesn't exist. Any ideas/solutions?
    Thanks in advance.

Sharing Stopped working again over night.
I went to Apple Support Artical TS2972
As soon as I did this Home Sharing started working
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2972
    Firewall Section
    5. Check Firewall Settings
If you have a firewall enabled in your router or computer, make sure that the firewall is not blocking communication between your computers. Home Sharing uses TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 to communicate with shared iTunes libraries.
In addition, Apple TV and Mac computers will use port 123 to set the time automatically. Incorrect date and time on either the computer or Apple TV can cause errors for Home Sharing and connections in general.
If you are unsure whether your router has a firewall or the required ports open, test additional devices or another network to help isolate the issue. If the devices tested work on another home network, it is your router or network configuration.
For Mac OS X, you don't have to edit the port addresses, but make sure the firewall in Apple () menu > System Preferences > Security > Firewall are not set to:
    Block all incoming connections
    Allow only essential services
If you use another security/firewall software on your computer or router, follow this article or contact the manufacturer or check the documentation on how to open TCP ports 123 and 3689 as well as UDP ports 123 and 5353.
It made sense to me, but its still puzzling me after restarting a router would (in my first attempt) resolve the issue for a day.  This this time I applied the port forwarding TCP and UDP ports and saved the settings in the DLink DIR-655 and both my iPad2 and iPhone 3GS were now again finding the share. My ATV2 is also now accepting the Share.
Tommorrow will be the true test.

  • Calender does not work between IOS5 and IOS4.3 iPad

We have two iPads. One is unfortunately on IOS5 and the other is on IOS4.3. When i activate the calender on both devices the shared calender is seen on the IOS4.3 iPad but not on the IOS5 iPad. Whatever i try using google accounts or iCloud it only works one way. Seems like another bug in IOS5? The CalDav fucntion that is proposed on multiple answers does not seem to work at all on the IOS5 iPad, it simply does not accept the password. Is there a simple way out? Or would i need to upgrade the second iPad also to IOS5 as i cannot downgrade the first iPad back to IOS4.3?
    help...

The iOS 4 device will not be able to use iCloud, of course.
As to Google calendars, I found that there's something different about how Calendar works in iOS 5.  I had a couple Google calendars that I was subscribed to in iOS 4, but when I upgraded, those calendars stopped updating, and I could not figure out for the life of me where those calendars were defined.  I ultimately had to remove them and then re-add them in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.  Click Add Account, and if you only want a calendar, click Other, then Add CalDAV Account or Add Subscribed Calendar.

  • WCCP does not work between WSA and ASA

    I have configured WCCPv2 between WSA S160 (         6.3.1-025) and ASA5540 (8.2(1)109).
Everything seems to be OK by "show wccp *" on ASA and showing wccp debugging messages (level 4) on S160. Despite of it, WCCP redirection does not work.
If I use packet-capture I figure out that S160 receives GRE packets with TCP SYN from particular LAN host to WWW sites but S160 does not handle them and does not send anything back to ASA.
It is an Exempt from authentication for this LAN host and in Forward proxy mode everything works well.
I have attached an example of a packet-capture (S160.txt - renamed from .cap) and debugging messages from S160 & "show" from ASA.
Does anybody have any idea what the problem is and how I can resolve it ?

IronPort Support team helped me to find the trouble:
If I wish to handle specific port's (80, 8080, etc.) traffic by the transparent proxy I need to configure this port like a listener for the FORWARD proxy
("Security Services" -> "Proxy Settings" -> "HTTP Ports to Proxy")
The WSA guide doesn't clearly say about it.
So the Discussion can be closed ...

  • Keepalive not working between GSS and CSM

    Hello,
We are using a KAL-AP keepalive between GSS and CSM for our global application. One problem we are facing is that the KAL-AP messages (UDP 5002) for VIP status are sent from GSS in one data center to the CSM in another data center. However the response from the CSM takes more than 40 seconds and by that time the firewall in between has already removed the connection. We don't see the same latency issue when we use utitlities like ping, traceroute etc between these 2 devices.
The communication between all other GSSs and CSMs in different data centers is fine.
    Regards,
    murtaza

    Run
show mod csm capp udp detail
periodically and check if the send & recieve frames are incrementing..

  • Airdrop does not work between Mac and iPhone

    Hi,
i have an iMac 27" late 2013 with OSX 10.10.1 on it and an
iPhone 5s with iOS 8.1.1 installed.
Both have WiFi and Bluetooth turned on.
The iPhone can see all other iPhones around me but neither my iPhone nor alle the other iPhones can see my Mac and visa verse.
I could not yet test if the Mac is able to see any other mac in Airdrop because i have no other Mac around.
I already did a PRAM reset but that did not help.
    Any suggestions?

I think you have to be running the same OS on those two devices in order for AirDrop to function properly.
Aidrop is pretty much usless unless you are in a need to transfer files between your macbooks and iMacs and vice versa; how many average OS users have two macbooks or two iMacs????
But that's why a great number of Apple users would like to transfer their stuff from their iPads and their iPhones to their Macs every day. I really hope this is on the to-do list by Apple, otherwise it would be shame not to have Airdrop that is cross-platform functional.
