Hands On Lab: JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Business Services Development

I am attempting to complete the tasks in the lab listed in this thread's title, but I am having trouble with it.
My EOne versions are:
App. Vers.: 8.12
Tools Vers.: 8.97.10
When attempting to add a published business service object to my project, when prompted for Source Language, "BSSV" is not one of the options I have available. All I have are "C" and "NER".
What do i need to do to have "BSSV" as one of my Source Language options?
Thanks,
Michael

If it is not too late!
To Develop BSSV (an object type in OMW, to invoke JDeveloper), the prerequisites are!
EnterpriseOne Tool Release 8.98, is required. In this release OMW Form has been changed to select BSFN > C or NER or BSSV.
EnterpriseOne E8.12 is required.

  • Hands on Lab JD Edwards Enterprise One Business Service Development

    Hi,
I completed the "Oracle Open World 2008 - Hands on Lab JD Edwards Enterprise One Business Service Development" PDF at [http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/fmw4apps/jde/pdf/openworld08_businessservicedevelopment.pdf].
I ran the business service at the end of the lab to get the following error:
Internal Server Error (Caught exception while handing request: oracle.e1.bssvfoundation.exception.E1AuthorizationException: User is not authorized to invoke this published business service)
    How can this be resolved?
We are on 8.12 and 8.97.1.2 tools
    Cheers,
    Steve.

    Hi,
I am having problems at step 5 in your last post.
" 5) Check your Published BSSv is set to published or not in OMW. If not go to security workbench and select the option publish BSSV from Form Exit and Add Custom Published Business service created, make it Executable."
    - The business function is not published. I try to in Security workbench (P00950) and publish BSSV row exit not to find my newly created business service object (JP55HOL). I can see all the standard ones but not mine. I open the P00950 application to know what the underlying tables are in the Business Views the grids source the data from, to find that JP55HOL exists in the Object Librarian table F9860 but not in the Business Service Published Methods P98630. For the business function to be published, the record needs to exist in this table. How could this record not be written and how can it be corrected through the Application?
    - I don't understand what "or not in OMW" means?
Please understand that I have followed the hands on lab with no other BSS setup on 8.12/8.97
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Business Services development with jDeveloper

We are making use of the Business Services feature in JDE to expose business functions as web services, that's great and working.
we have one problem with jDeveloper during development.
we can create a new business service from OMW in JDE and invoke jDev from there, that's fine.
then we can put codes in the project in jDev, that's fine.
then we can publish the code as J2EE web service, that works as well.
then if we restart jDeveloper after that, the J2EE web service doesn't work in the jDev embeded web server any more.
we always have to delete the web service in the project and go through the same wizard steps to generate the web service again.
it's very annoying when you have more than a handful of web services you want to expose.
and if you use the WSDL in a client project to call this web service, you have to remember to give the web service the same name when re-generating otherwise you have to reimport the WSDL again on client side, it can be another huge pain if the client is Oracle BPEL.
so my question is, why is this happening? is it some settings in jDev that we didn't set right? or is it a bug in jDEv and is there a work around?
    thanks in advanced!

    What error did you get?

  • Business Services Development

In EnterpriseOne Tools 8.97 you're enable to create web services from business services. THAT'S GREAT! It can solve most of problems.
But I cann't see any example, could you advise me some about this.

I put this in another thread - but it looks like it is appropriate for this thread also.
The FMW Best practices site has some good tutorials and articles:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/fmw4apps/jde/index.html
There is a JDE and SOA page on customer connect that has links to white papers, red papers, documnetaion, training etc.

  • ERP 8.12 TR8.98 and available business services question

    Hi there
We are just about to upgrade to TR 8.98 from 8.96 primarily to make use of BSSV functionality. We are still on ERP 8.12.
I am a little confused about what we would have access to in 8.12 TR8.98.
I thought I read that the RI's are for testing purposes and should not be used in production, but used as a basis for development.
I just found document 'JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Business Services 9.0 Reference Guide' which lists quite a few available business services that look ready to use.
Would these now be available to us on ERP 8.12 TR8.98 or do we need to be on ERP 9.0 to use these services, which are not prefixed with 'RI'.
I would just like to clarify what our situation will be and if we don't have these services, could we get them in the form of an ESU?
    Best Regards,
    Perusha

Yes, you can use the JDE Business Service Server to simulate the E1-Adapter associated with webMethods. Oracle provides out of the box Business Services for a majority of the E1 transactions. We have implemented Business Services Server with our webMethods and it is working very well.

  • Caching in OSB with Business Service

    Hi All,
I am done with business service development, but I need to configure caching to fetch the data from cache if TTL (Time to Live) <24 if is more then my request to interact with the database can please help how I can I do it, as I am new to caching concept.
    Thank You,
    Vinay Kumar

Hi Vinay, Select the Business Service - Message Handling Configuration - in Advanced Settings section, you can configure caching for the business service; select Result caching as Supported, and specify cache token (unique key) and expiration time (TTL). Note- once the TTL exceeds for a particular data, the business service will fetch the result from the target system/database and cache it, and the cycle repeats (no specific configuration to be done for this).  Also, before configuring the above, first enable the caching globally in OSB; go to Operations - Global settings - select Enable Result caching, and activate the changes.

  • OOW Hands on lab

At the OOW last week I attended the Hands-on-lab "Managing yout Database with SQL Developer". I asked if it was possible to get a copy of the course material. I was told, that I could download the pdf at OTN. Where do I find it?

I'll add the links to the SQL Developer homepage when I get back to the office tomorrow. They should be there by the end of the week. You'll be able to access the OBEs from the "Tutorials & Oracle by Example (OBE)" link on [ http://otn.oracle.com/sqldeveloper| http://otn.oracle.com/sqldeveloper]
We said the OBEs would be on OTN, which they will. We do not put the pdfs on OTN, but there is nothing to stop you from printing the OBE running in the browser to pdf. (You can choose whether to included the screen shots or not.)
There are already a few OBEs on our site, from earlier in the year and many of the database OBEs are here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/11gr1_db/index.htm

  • Business Services Configuration in SCSM or SCOM?

    Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for someone with both SCOM 2012 and SCSM 2012 experience who can advise the best and/or preferred method of creating/populating Business Services in Service Manager 2012...
The reason that I ask is that once we have a rock solid process for logging Incidents and Service Request, our next major priorities will be to get "basic" reporting & change management working.
Change Management will obviously use the Business Services in the usual way - to manage changes that will affect the business service, whereas the level of reporting we want to obtain from the "basic" reporting is what Incidents have been occurring
(possibly which categories they were logged under) and which Business service the Incidents Affected.
Now, this is where I'm in two minds:
On one hand a "non-technical" Microsoft field engineer suggested to create business service "place holders" and then configure SCSM to use these "dummy" (non-configured) business services for reporting purposes.
On the other hand we have SCOM 2012 and I believe the preferred method is to import SCOM distributed Apps as Business services which has many additional long term benefits like being able to manage the end-to-end "Availability" of a Business Service
    etc.
My biggest issue with creating "place holder" Business Services in SCSM is the amount of time it will take to configure all the templates with the "dummy" services only to have to reconfigure everything once we Import the "Real"
Business Services from distributed apps configured in SCOM. It seems like a LOT of double handling to me.
So, my question is basically (bare with me because I have VERY little SCOM knowledge) is there a way to create an MP in SCOM which would contain a "Distributed Application Template" (VERY basic Config) which can simply be duplicated MANY times
and change it's name to match each of our Business Services. Once done the MP containing the Distributed Apps can be imported to SCSM and then the Business Service would still be "Dummy" blank place holders but they've also be the legitimate/actual
Distributed apps that we will want to be using later down the track.
If we went down this path and we kept an unsealed copy of this management pack, would it also be possible to go back and make changes to the MANY distributed apps to update the CI relationship information in SCSM?
Hope this makes sense... basically I thought it would make more sense to create the "dummy" Business Services in SCOM and import them to SCSM for use now and in the future rather than create the "dummy" business services in SCSM now only
to replace them with new imported Business Services from SCOM.
Your thoughts, ideas and guidance will be GREATLY appreciated.

    Hi,
We have ERP 8.97 JDE tool set installed on our local m/c. We are unable to check in the Business Services (BSSV) object (JP55HOL) in JDE DEMO. We also tried checking in the vanilla BSSV (J0000030) after we had chekced it out, but this also did not work out. We are getting the error: General Error in Method, Check-in. However we had no issues in checking in the regular JDE objects.

    hi,
Finally i have done it with the help of documentation.
    solution is :
In the service configuration --> Policy -->select OWSM policy bindings (your domain should be configured with OWSM extention))
select predefined oracle/wss_username_token_client_policy from in the OWSM configuration window
next login to the em console: http://localhost:7001/em
In the left hand side pane Go to Weblogic Domain -> select <your domain name>
In the central pallete Weblogic Domain drop down goto secutiry --> Credentials.
Here create a map with name : oracle.wsm.security (if not exists)
Create a key by selecting the map as :oracle.wsm.security
    Key name : Sample_KEY
    Type : password
Username: The username you are expecting in the soap header
Password: The password you are expecting in the soap header
Now go back to your service configuration -> Policy -> select the policy that you have added.
there you can see the properties button enabled.click on it...
there for the default_value = basic_credentials give the over_ride value as Sample_KEY (the key name you have mapped to the map)

  • Different number of Business service endpoint for prod/non prod env in OSB

    Hi,
I have a scenario in my project. We have 2 managed servers in all non production environment and 4 servers in production environment.
In non production environments, have added 2 end point uri in the business service. If we create customization file from this, it will have only 2 endpoint uri details.
Now problem is how to get all 4 enpoint uri added for production environment. Dont know how if we try to add 2 uris in customization file will work fine or not. Also it will be very cumbersome as there are more than 100 business services.
Tried with comma seperated urls, but load balancing is not happening. Same thing when cluster address is used.
Any pointers on this will be helpful.

    Hi..
There's several ways to do it.. What I prefer to do is to generate the customization files and have a seperate set for each environment. As you say hand modifying the customization files is a pain (and error prone), so I wrote a program to generate the customization files.. basically it runs against my local dev environment, creates an edit session, modifies the env values (these are held in a properties file (easier to maintain)), exports the customization files and sbconfig jars, then discards the edit session.
I then use a wlst/jmx script to perform the imports and running the customization files, then after the customization is ran, then I have a section that modifies the business service with multiple endpoints to set them up to load balance/failover..
this is the function in my utils script to set the load balancing/failover....
