Hangup sound is very loud!

In my earphones the hangup sound at the end of a call is very loud (since I updated to iOS5). The volume level is in the middle of the scale. How can I change this or even switch the sound off.

Have you tried selecting fan speeds in CMOS setup?  (reboot and press F10)
Have you inspected ambient temperature sensor via HWMonitor?

  • Sound NOT Very Loud-why?

I love my new MacBook. However, they put the 2 speakers in the back facing out and the sound volume is VERY low. Watched a DVD in my lap with the volume all the way up and could hardly hear the movie. Everything is hard to hear on this machine. Don't know if it's the location of the speakers or not. Of course I didn't buy it for the sound BUT I never have had a laptop this hard to hear before.

I think quite a number of people, myself included, are having this problem. I sincerely hope Apple fixes this - and soon. My previous computer, a Powerbook G4 15", would never win any awards for fidelity but it was plenty loud enough.
In all environments other than a quite room, the volume on my machine, even set to near maximum, is not acceptable.

  • Ipod sound not very loud...

Bought Dad a Ipod for his birthday about a year and a half ago. He takes excellent care of it. He has always complained that it didn't get as loud as his stereo did - we chalked it up to user error. Today, I finally looked at it and there is definately something not right with it.
Regardless of what the ipod is hooked up to (stereo, car radio, etc.) the volume on the "stereo" needs to be turned almost all the way up just to hear the ipod at a "normal" level. A cd, or the radio at that volume would blow the speakers. I tried turning up the volume on the ipod itself, but it doesn't matter if it is turned all the way up or way down there is no sound change what so ever. I clicked through some of the EQ's but sound didn't change at all then either.
Any ideas what the problem could be? In my opinion it is not very old to be having such problems - espeically when he says its been like this from the start.

Get the latest version of the iPod firmware. Hold down MENU to go back to the Main Menu. Go to Settings > Volume Limit. Adjust accordingly.

  • Sound not very loud help please:/

I got myself a new iPod Nano 6th gen to replace my quite old iPod touch and my problem is this when adjusting the volume I get about halfway through and even if i continue to increase the volume to full its no louder than halfway up I checked the volume limit and thats full too. The volume level on my old iPod touch is much louder than my nano so Im tempted to return my new nano and just struggle with battery life on my Ipod touch. I know it cant be my headphones either because I invested in some beats by dr dre can anyone help me please?

First of all, "investing" is not the word I would use on Beats.
    Secondly, have you looked at:
    Volume limit in iTunes
    EQ is set correctly
    Soundcheck is on/off
Audio leveling is on for the specific song?

  • Sound is very quiet !

    Hi
    I recently bought a zen mp3 from 32 GB
but now I've put some songs on it and the sound is very quiet, even when I put it on 25 !
my brother has a zen mp3 of 8 GB and his sound is very loud at 25.
Does anyone knows how i can get the songs to play louder?
    thanks
    sjesches

    Hi,
I had a similar problem with my ZEN, the sound was just too low for my requirements as I listen to it a lot along busy roads where there is a lot of noise. I assume that you have the European firmware on your ZEN, check it, the European firmware ends in an "e". If so, you might try downloading and installing the US firmware which you can download from the US site. Download the US firmware first before throwing out the European firmware, then install the US firmware. This is much louder than the Euopean firmware, I believe this is because in Europe the authorities want to protect their young people from ruining their hearing and therefore restrict the volume of players.
Now that I have the US firmware on my ZEN I have no problem with the sound anymore.
    Have fun with your player!

    Hi,
Tap the iPod icon in the Dock. Then tap the Airplay icon just to the right of the volume slider.
Make sure the iPad speakers are selected, not your wireless.

Most intelligent people would simply turn the volume up.  Have you tried that?

  • My mac is sounding very loud

My Mac is sounding very loud.  It almost sounds like a PC trying to think.  I have a 2013 IMAC and I have not had any issues until now.

Sounds are very difficult to diagnose on a forum, particularly without a good description of the sound. However you can try resetting the SMC, if it's fan sounds this reset may handle it. To learn how to reset the SMC please click Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets

  • My headphone audio output on imac makes a very loud low freg buzzing sound.

I have my Imac hooked up to my home studio for recording music. It is currently hooked up to my high quality rane mixer, which has superior sound quality. But for some reason every time I plug a cord into the headphone jack to my mixer, TV or anything else from the Imac headphone jack, it comes out with a very loud low frequency humming/buzzing noise even on very low volume settings, even with the bass turned all the way down. It is extremely annoying. Does anyone else have this problem? I would expect a little more from apple products. Especially with something simple like this, since these machines are mostly designed for video/audio production. . I have tried switching my cords around and changing my setup for months now. No luck. And, no, my imac does not have an optical out and I think that would probably solve the whole problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Do you have your recording equipment isolated from the computer equipment? These buzzes and rumbles are usually easily solved by making sure that your audio equipment is plugged into a different electrical circuit than the iMac.
However, yes your iMac does indeed have digital audio. I do not know of an Intel model that does not have digital audio. The audio ports do both analog and digital audio. To use digital audio you need a Toslink cable with a miniplug adapter on the iMac end of the cable.

  • There is a very loud, distorted sound coming from my Ipod Nano 7th generation no matter what headphones i use. Any fixes?

I bought an Ipod Nano 7th generation and out of the box, there was a really loud distorted sound as soon as i pressed play. When i press pause, it stops. If i use a different pair of headphones is does it. So, i exchanged it, and all was good for about three weeks, now even the new one is doing it. The sound is so loud and fuzzy that i cant even hear what the song is supposed to be.

First, ipod nano 7th gen does not have a built-in speaker. Second, a brand new nano jack is sometimes ifficult to insert, make sure it is fully inserted or flushed to the ipod body. Cheers!

  • MacBook Air over cooling with very loud sound

My Mac Book Air is over cooling even though it isn't hot. The fans run 24/7 until I turn my Laptop off once I turn it on again they run again. The fans are very very loud and I think it is making my Laptop slower. Any ideas?

  • Optical drive is very loud - why?

My optical drive is so loud it sounds like it's ready for takeoff. I've only had my late 2008 MacBook Pro for a couple of months and had no problems with CD's until just recently. They play just fine, but the drive keeps spinning at top speed throughout the time the CD plays. It did not do this until recently, and some of the referenced CDs were fine previously. I have had several optical drives in the past and all have behaved the same except this one. What I believe should be typical behavior: as the drive begins to read the disk it usually gets a little louder, then a little louder, then a little louder again, then backs off a level or two as you are listening/watching. Not silent, but not spinning at top speed either. Is this correct?
I took it to the genius bar today and they told me it was fine (in the middle of a very loud, busy store - I'm not sure how they could tell). They wouldn't allow me to compare it to another machine of theirs because they said that three different types of drives are used (in a late 2008 MacBook Pro???). When he confirmed that I'm stuck with this drive, I inquired how much it would cost to get a different/best new drive installed. He told me they never know which of the three drives they will get when they place an order. So even with Apple Care I can't BUY a decent drive????
I just want to be able to play CD's and not be blasted by the volume in order to cover up the ridiculously loud drive. And yes, I also download and copy music to my hard disk........but don't always want to do that.
At this point I don't even care about the cost..... I just want something that's right. Any suggestions on a new drive and where to get one?

same problem. i hate this things. 2000 euros, i don't accept this problems.

  • Apple put in a new hard drive, but not the computer is VERY LOUD!

I just got my 13 month old Intel iMac back from the Apple store -- it needed a new hard drive. When I first turned on the computer, it was very loud, and I thought they gave me someone else's computer by mistake, so I checked the Serial Number, and apparently it's my computer.
I can't take this noise. What's going on? The fan wasn't broken, but this sounds like a new fan in the computer that is much louder than the old fan.
Also, the Apple geniuses told me the computer would use Time Machine to install all my old settings (I have an external hard drive hooked up to the iMac). But it's not working at all. Whenever I tell the new hard drive to "Restore to a Time Machine Backup" and select the backup hard drive, the computer screen goes gray, and it starts all over again (with the "Hello" screen in all the different languages.
Please help. I guess the MIP issue is the noise -- I can't work with a computer this loud. It gives me a headache. Should I just take it back to the Apple store, and have the noise fixed first? There never was a noise problem before I took the computer in for the broken hard drive.
    Thanks.

    HI,
    Try resetting the SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543
If that doesn't help, take it back.
Tip... whenever you take a computer in for service and you pick it up, make sure it's running without problems *before you leave*. Especially in this case where you got it home and now have this noise issue.

  • Very loud fan (or other part?) noise in MacBook Pro

Greetings!  My fan (I assume) has recently started making a very loud, horrible noise that sounds like a piece of plastic stuck in the spokes of a bike.  It's driving me crazy and making me a burden to be around me when I'm working...which is always.  Please help!  I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Perform a SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
If there is no change, open the MBP and examine it.  Look for dirt an debris, and if found, clean it out.  You will need a #00 Phillips driver.
If still no success it may be that the fan is faulty and should be replaced.  Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a free and definitive diagnosis.  It is not an expensive repair.
    Ciao.
