Hard copy Forms to PDF

Here's my situation:
I have a paper questionaire that new clients are required to fill out.  Sometimes the questionaire is not filled out entirely or correctly, so when we meet with the client we have to correct it.  It would be easy for us to use a PDF form to fill in the missing data, but the trick is getting the information that was already completed.
What would be ideal is if I could create a form template or something that would allow us to scan the paper document on which the client has written information into a PDF and have fields already set for us to fill in missing data.  I don't need any OCR magic or anything like that - I just want to make it possible for us to type easily into this form while retaining the client's hand-written work.
Thoughts?

I considered that, but I'd like to avoid it for a couple of reasons:
1.  My users would have to learn to type within the lines.  While that sounds like a simple task, you'd be amazed by the grumbling I'd get if I told people they'd have to wrap their own lines.
2.  I want to retain the form fields nice features such as autosizing the font so that all the data will fit in the field.
I thought of a possibility after you posted that I think I'll give a try.  I'm going to create a fillable form on a blank PDF.  I'll then use the SDK to insert the scanned document as a watermark on the blank PDF.  If I can tie it in to the shell so a user can right-click on a scanned PDF and automate the whole process that would be perfect.
I'll post back with my results.

  • Scanning hard copy to create PDF?

I just downloaded ReaderXI.  I cannot figure out how to scan a hard copy of a document and create a PDF.  PLEASE HELP!!

I believe, you can't in Reader.  In full Acrobat you can do this:
File >> create PDF >> From Scanner  (this is in version 9.5.2)
You can download trial version of Acrobat XI and try it on your machine for 30 days.
    Good luck.

  • Help with printing hard copy from Acrobat PDF

Copy created in InDesign and printed to Adobe PDF is OK on screen but printing hard copy with random chunks of text missing. Same on both my printers, doesn't happen with doPDF. Any ideas? Thanks

I suspect that what you are asking is simply to print to a new PDF with print as image selected. You can also save as an image file and then open the images as a new PDF.

  • PO should be send to vendor (PDF)as soon it is approved and print hard copy

    Hi,
I have 2 requirements as below
    1) The PO should be send to the vendor in PDF as soon as it is released to the e mail id of the vendor maintained in the vendor master. Also a hard copy of the PO should  get printed.
2)if the PO does not require a approval ,PO should be send to the vendor as soon as it is saved & print hard copy.
Hi gurus can you pl tell me the stepwise config to be made.

    Hi,
I just came across your post about Sending PO to a vendor through e-mail with PDF attachement.
I have a similar issue on hand.
    My Program name - Z_SAPFM06P
    Routine - ENTRY_NEU
    Form - Z_MEDRUCK
My requirement : After creation of a PO, on click of 'Save' button, an e-mail needs to be sent to a given receipient.
As of now, I have included the code in the routine - ENTRY_NEU and I'm facing probelms with the FM - SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1.
Pls let me know what exactly is the codeand where to I need to include it. Pls tell me how to go about tis issue step-by-step.
In general you will have to do the following:
    1) Set NAST-NACHA = 8 (Special function)
    2) Before OPEN_FORM (maybe in In enhancement spot) if NAST-NACHA = 8, then set itcpo-tdgetotf = 'X' (to get OTF back from CLOSE_FORM!)
    3) During CLOSE_FORM, if NAST-NACHA = '8', get OTF output from TABLES parameter OTFDATA
    4) Convert this OTF output to PDF using following sample code:
data: I_PDF STRUCTURE  TLINE occurs 0,
            I_OTF i_otf LIKE itcoo OCCURS 0.
        CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_OTF'
             EXPORTING

                  err_format            = 2
                  err_conv_not_possible = 3

    5) Send email with PDF attachment using the method(s) mentioned in one of these excellent blogs:

  • How to get a hard copy of a form designed in SAP SCRIPT

I designed a form in SAPSCRIPT . I verifed the o/p in the Print preview method using the printer LP01. I would get a hard copy of the same, So Can someone help me with the following.
    1. How to configure a printer in SAP or Check the exisitng ones .
    2. How to direct the o/p of my  SAPSCRIPT to the printer .

    Hi,
SPAD is the transaction to configure the printer, But BASIS People will do this.
We just have to assign the Print Program & Form in the Output types.
When you try to give the print, if you give LP01 it will takes the default Local Printer which you had set as the default printer in your PC.

  • Is it possible to save a copy of a PDF form created in Livecycle Designer ES3?

    Hey,
I've created a form using the trial version of Livecycle ES3 however when I view the form I get this message:
"you cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like to keep a copy for your records."
Is there a way around this/ is this just with the trial version? If I download the full version will the forms then be saveable?
I don't want to send out the form to people unless they are able to save a copy as I think that this could cause issues.
    Answers much appreciated!

If you use the File > Distribute Form this does allow recipients to save data entered into the form.  However, beware of the following points:
    1.  File > Distribute Form will take you through a process to gather information about your preferences for distribution including destination email addresses.  Once you have gone through this process, subsequently there is no option to change or reset any of the original inputs.  For example, if you wish to change the destination email address, you need to open the PDF in Acrobat Pro and go to Edit > Preferences and select the identity category.  The email address can be changed there.
2.The File > Distribute Form, seems to make other changes to the PDF too, because it uses the email address entered when Distribute Form is first used, to submit the PDF by email.  If you have an email submit button in your form, like I did, this does not work any longer in Adobe Reader.  Clicking it now simply prompts to save a local copy of the PDF. The submit does work in Acrobat Pro, but this is useless for a distributed form.

  • How to scan a hard copy to pdf that I can convert to word for editing?

I've got a HP deskjet 3050A and my operating system is Windows 7, how to scan a hard copy to pdf that I can convert to word for editing?

    Hi,
The software provided for your device does not include OCR functionality
You may use any 3rd part OCR solution to scan as editable text.
If you have Microsoft Office suite there is a good chance the office suite provide this kind of capabilities:
    Office 2007 or 2010:

  • Logo Visible in Print Preview, but not in pdf and hard copy

    Hi,
We have uploaded a logo to be shown in the footer. We are able to see the logo in the print preview, but when we print the invoice (SAP Script),  it is not seen in the hard copy. We tried by saving it as a pdf, even in the pdf, it is not displayed.
    We are on SAP 4.7
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mick

    hi,
Am not sure what the exact issue could be, but i am expecting there may not be sufficient space to fit the logo. I suggest you to check the output by placing the logo in header whether its coming or not in hardcopy, that may help you.

I need pdf files so I can export, not hard copy. When I 'print' then 'save as pdf', I get blank docs. Why? How can it be resolved?

    Which version of Acrobat?
What app are you printing from?
Which version of Mac or Windows?
Do these seem to be normal PDF documents - but just blank pages? How many blank pages?

  • User manual on pdf versus hard copy

Just curious to know other enthusiasts' opinions about Canon not providing a hard copy user manual.  I assume most if not all of the other manufacturers do the same, but one thing is for certain: I hate it!  I don't like having to refer to a pdf file to view the guide, and I don't care to print out a whole bunch of pages on my printer for frequently referenced material.
Is it just me, or are other people bothered by not having a hard copy user manual?

Hi, I can understand companies cutting cost on printing hard copies versus a PDF on a CD. When I got my 7D, refurbushed, it did come with a printed manual and I never opened it at all. i purchased a video by Blue Crane and have watch those videos several times and I believe a video is better than trying to read a company manual. After the videos, I then went out and bought David Bisch's manual on the 7D. Better written and have never wanted any infomation that was not in either item.

  • Creating a survey in acrobat, processing on hard copy, and data compiling via Acrobat scanning

    Hi there,
I am new to creating PDF forms using Acrobat Pro 9. I have been asked by my manager to sort out a way we can create a survey (for staff)and have the data input to the survey, processed and compiled ready for an analyst to create a report of the data.
Basically, this is a survey of staff by staff, anonymous and to be completed on hard copy (Printed PDF with survey template).
So, I have started to think about the best way to go about this, can I create a survey in Acrobat, print it, fill out the multiple choice questions, scan it in Adobe, and allow acrobat to gather the data?
Personally I would like to use Acrobat (as I am enjoying learning it), but is this the right tool for that job? Is there a feature that enables multiple choice surveys to be created, printed, filled out, scanned again (with answers filled in), and compiles the data?
I hope I have explained that clear enough...;-)
    Kind regards
    Kevin

By itself Acrobat does not "compile data".
By the way nothing compiles data from a picture. All scanners output a picture of the scanned paper (that is, an image file such as TIFF).
Acrobat can perform Optical Character Recognition (OCR) of the picture of text.
The OCR output is the characters - no format, tables, rows, columns, no text styling, etc.
So harvesting useful information can pose something of a challenge.
You may want to consider manually compiling the results.
    Be well...

  • Form in PDF

I have a pdf form which was created using Adobe 4.0(may be planet pdf not sure).

I tried doing this using Adobe LiveCycle, and the problem I am facing is that I loose database binding when I save the new pdf file.

  • Save non certified copy of certified pdf

    INTRODUCTION:
I have created a form using Livecycle Designer 8.2 and Acrobat 9.4.
Its intended users are trusted people in the company so distribution is performed manually and security is not an issue.
Upon being opened with Reader 9.4.1, the form's docReady event handler calls a trusted function (located in a .js file in the JavaScripts folder) which calls importXFAData() to populate a text field with a user name retrieved from an xml file.
The user then enters a date into a text field.
The user clicks a Save button on the form which performs the following:
Set the presence of the Save button to invisible.
Set the access of the date field to readOnly.
Uses a trusted function to call saveAs() to save a copy of the form with no (pencil tool) signature. This will be printed off and signed by hand.
Set the presence of the Save button to visible again.
The user then uses the pencil tool to sign the form.
They then click the Save button on the form which does the same thing as before, but the copy of the pdf form saved this time already contains a signature so they just keep this version on file without printing it.
After creating the form with Livecycle I used Acrobat to save the form with Enable Use Rights in Adobe Reader (click Advanced->Extend Features in Adobe Reader). This is so that the annotations (pencil tool) and programmatic saving is allowed in Reader.
After that I used Certify without Visible Signature, and I made up a Digital ID and permitted Annotations, form fill-in, and digital signatures. This is so that it allowed importXFAData() to import data from the xml file.
    MY ISSUE:
I want the copies that are being saved (programmatically) to be saved without the certificate.
    POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
I noticed that after adding the certificate that in the Signatures tab in Reader my certificate is displayed and if expanded it reveals that it has a Field associated with is called SignatureField1 (invisible signature).
The closest thing I could find to remove this was a function called removeField(), however I have no idea where to place the call to this in Livecycle, and if I use this to remove the SignatureField1 right before saving the first copy then the certificate won't be there to allow the second copy to be saved.

I realise this may be beyond most people's knowledge of Livecycle but I was hoping someone working on Livecycle or Acrobat would have a deeper insight.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi ,
I have cretaed a form ( SAP Script) which I want send through email. So I need to convert that form to PDF format. How can I do that ?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
There are two approaches that can be followed to convert script to PDF.
    First method
first generate a Spool Request for the required Sapscript
then goto transaction SP01 and copy the generated Spool Request number
now execute the SAP report RSTXPDFT4
here enter the copied Spool request number and the target directory into the parameters
    execute the report
required pdf file will be generated into the target directory
i hope it will help you out

  • User being able to download filled out form in pdf format

    Hello,
I'm testing the formscentral application and was wondering if the users are able to obtain a copy of the filled out form in pdf format versus just plain text in the email?
    Thanks

No, respondents can only get the email with text responses. There is no way for them to get a PDF copy of what they filled out.
