Hardware defect on SG 200-08 ?

Hello,
i have a little problem with on SG 200-08 switch. From time to time, the switch restarts, all network connections get lost. And sometimes, some ports of the switch switch of, no network connection on this ports al possible until the next restart. I have not changed the configuration at the times there is a restart.
So, i think there is a hardware defect in this switch. Unfortunately the dealer, from whom the switch was purchased is insolvent. They tell me, the manufacturer of the switch can help.
So, what can i do ? The switch was purchased in October 2012 in germany, so i have still guarantee i think.

Hi Christian, you're correct, the switch has warranty. You should call the Cisco small business support and ask for RMA.
Before doing do, I'd recommend to ensure you're on the lastest software 1.0.6.2 and factory default reset this switch. If the problem persist after then request RMA.

  • Replacing "hardware defect iPad"

my parents bought an ipad in singapore where my family were on vacation less than a month ago to assist me in my studies (I currently live in the philippines)... unfortunately for some unknown reason my screen showed this some kind of snowy, grainy TV effect on the screen, my ipad has not experienced any drops whatsoever... anyway, chat support concluded that it is a hardware defect after restoring via itunes and ended up authorizing a replacement... my inquiry is that, since the ipad was bought in singapore, will they send in a replacement from singapore? and if they do, will they charge me taxes for it (as in enters philippine territory)? do i have to pay for the replacement process? because that would be really disappointing... i would really feel rip-off-ed (is there such word?)... I wanted my iPad replaced with a direct shipment from singapore, but as the chat support instructed, i have to contact philippine apple support for the replacement... thanks in advance!

Apple will not ship a replacement from Singapore. If you are in the Philippines, you'll get your replacement from the Philippines. If the iPad is still under warranty, you will not be charged.

  • IPhone 5 turn off button not working properly, is it a hardware defect?

My iPhone 5 (1year and 4 months) has trouble with its turn off button, I've heard of other friends with same issue, is it a hardware defect?

Things just break. The IPhone buttons are basically a thin plastic sticker with a thin flexible metal lining. The simple sticker slips (slides) out of place just a hair (far less than mm) and the alignment of the metal lining cannot make connection, so button does not function correctly. Things just break.

  • Magic Mouse hardware defect?

I love my Magic Mouse and bought it in December '09.
However, since yesterday using the MM becomes a pain: it's sluggish and jumpy!
The story started with a sudden disconnection without a battery warning. No problem, I changed the battery (Eneloop in good shape), and from now on, the MM was fairly unusable. Maybe it's a hardware defect?
I have tried "everything": used other Eneloops, used fresh batteries, reset Mac (10.6.8), used other Mac with Lion, checked WLAN for interferences, cleaned lenses again and again. looked for hairs etc. ... nothing helped.
It looks like the signal level is a liitle bit low: Option-Bluetooth-menu shows RSSI of -50 to -42 dBm
    Any more ideas?

Thx rtm34, but it was not the surface.
Actually, I'm puzzled: yesterday I took the mouse to my friend, checked it on his Mac - and it worked. Checked it on my MacBook again - and it worked! Back at home: the mouse is healed!
Maybe it needed some carrying around in my backpack, or there really were some intereferences at my home which have stopped now.

  • Hardware Defect???!!!

My iPad 2 was being sluggish recently so I reset it to restore a backup. After the initial restore my battery went from 63% (before) to 8% in a matter of minutes. I then plugged in my iPad to my computer to restore using a backup and ever since then the iPad will restart if I try to sync, restore from an icloud or itunes backup, when charging, or when using apps. So I did the hard reset as suggested on their support site, nothing. I make a genius appointment where they run a test and say it is a hardware defect and they can't do anything in store. The only thing they can do is because my ipad is out of warranty (by two months) they can offer me a refurb for $250 plus tax after I just shelled out $500 a year ago!!!!! So I call apple support and they give me the same bull that even though it is clearly Apple's fault with a hardware defect they can't do anything because it was out of warranty. Apple covets their quality but this shows they don't give a **** if something actually happens. Any suggestions on what I can do? At this point I want to just send it in for a battery replacement (since the battery doesn't charge more than 1% every hour) but I'm wondering if that other hardware defect will prevent me from taking part in the battery replacement program.

Seriously, my family owns just about every apple product, but I am still ready to just stop buying them. I know we aren't the only ones. Apple no longer cares about the quality and innovation that fueled them years ago. I asked the service reps why I would buy a product that they don't stand behind and the reply was all technology is prone to defects so I should've bought the warranty. I know for a fact that an extremely high percentage of apple consumers have cracked screens from dropping their product once from a foot off the ground. I can drop my Droid Razr from ridiculous heights and barely get a scratch on it. So they need to find a way to resolve issues especially when it was through no fault of the consumer but something they did wrong when manufacturing the garbage products they sell us.

  • Known hardware defect, ipod touch 5th gen, bad logic board

I find it sad that my $200 ipod touch 5th generation is now a paperweight. Because of a hardware issue that is well known, though the all mighty apple would never admit it. I find it convenient that it happens to myself and most others after our warranty ends. Its even sadder still that my 4th gen ipod touch is still going strong for the most part after all the use and abuse I have put it through. It would be at the least.... decent for you to replace my unit and send me a replacement... I dont even care if it is used or not. Im not picky. I just want a device that works....
Can someone help me troubleshoot the iPod?
    <Edited by Host>

What evidence do y have that " Because of a hardware issue that is well known,"?
Have you made an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and discussed it with them.

  • My iPhone 5S Seem To Have Some Hardware Defects

Hello, I purchased my iPhone 5S silver 16GB back in July of 2014. After a period of use I've complaining about the Touch ID feeling different then other iPhone 5Ss that I've seen and tried. The button itself is more towards inside of the phone and raddle when I move the finger up and down on the button. Functionally it works great except that loos feeling. For this reason Apple scheduled an geniusbar appointment and she said it seemed to be fine. So I thought it's okay. Now after about six month of use I found some other problems in terms of physical hardware. First of all, the sleep/wake button rattles when I shake the phone. Second, the volume button along the side of the phone seems fine accept I have to push a little hard. Those are some problems that I found, is this normal or should I contact Apple support?

I would contact Apple. The phone has a 1 year warranty.

  • Graphical hardware defect (?)

    Hi Community,
I hope that you can help me with this following problem:
At the beginning of january i gave my Mac Book Pro to an apple-certified repair
in hope they could solve a few defects of which i still don't know where they are coming from.
The screen appears in a strange flickering, mostly only when I exit standby. (in both cases, with and without opened laptop)
This problem existed before the repair and still after.
The flickering disappears when i move the display.
Sometimes the screen even remained black after exiting and I had to close the display and open again repeatedly.
I could also notice that sometimes the standby led illuminated wrongly. With closed display the laptop was working and with opened the standby started.
The repairman thought it was a logic board defect, so he replaced it.
After I could finally work again with my mac (yesterday) i must acknowledge that nothing was ok yet.
During operation suddenly the whole screen looked like one of those gameboyscreens in older times when the cartridge has been dirty and unreadable.
At the same time the led flashed and you could hear a "TUT, TUT, TUT" 3 times before the laptop was shut down.
When I tried to reboot, the acoustic signal came and it was shut down again.
Today I've tried to start my mac again. At first it has started with a black screen. After the second try it worked almost normally except the flickering...
Does anyone know from experience which technical problem i'm faced with and
what is to be done? Could the graphic card be the malefactor?
    Thank you in advance.

  • 3750 Metro hardware defection.

When two 3750ME ,same IOS and same configuration, connected using fastethernet trunk, vlan interface over the trunk can't building ospf neighbor, one can recieve the ospf hello ,the other can't.We have 22 3750ME running in our network, several sites have met the same problem.
Futhermore ,when 3750 Metro connect with a 7507 router using a fast ethernet trunk, the 7507 interface configured dot1q,then the 3750ME interface lost packets.

Take care when setting the mode to on (manual configuration) in etherchannel PAgP modes. All ports configured in the on mode are bundled in the same group and are forced to have similar characteristics. If the group is misconfigured, packet loss or spanning-tree loops might occur.

  • Can I swap out defected iPhone with different color one

In november my friend purchased me a black iphone 5.  It was awesome with No problems.  Recently however, I have been experiencing a very short battery life.  After a day of light usage sometimes my battery will dip below 5 percent.  Now, I already tried disableing bluetooth, turning off data and wifi when not being used, and even turned down the brightness to half way.  Because the iphone is certainly defected, when I exchange the iphone is there a possibility to swap it out with one of a different color, as the black one devolops scratches along the champhered edge like crazy, also ios 7 looks wayyyyyy better with the white iphone, it just blends into the device itself.  Anyways, thanks for any responses

No. Apple will replace your iPhone only with an indentical model. If you want your iPhone to be a different color, consider a skin; those are available in a multitude of colors and patterns.
And just FYI, there are many causes of short battery life other than a hardware defect. Apps such as the Facebook app can use a lot of battery. While you may indeed have a failing battery, you may want to try restoring your iPhone to factory settings and running with just the Apple apps for a while and then evaluate your battery life before concluding that there's a hardware problem.

  • Defective Outlet Jack On T400 Series

    To Whom It May Concern,
A few months ago I purchased a new ThinkPad Lenovo laptop from you. My decision to purchase your product for my business was based on my previous experience with you X series tablets and T series laptops; quality of these products surpassed any other laptop that I had used in my consulting career.
Upon receiving the laptop I noticed that the socket where the power outlet connects to was fairly loose. This was quite a surprise to me because the older products that I have mentioned above seemed much sturdier than this product. The matter worsened when after a few weeks the outlet became even looser to the point where the laptop would fail to charge at certain points. At that point I visited your Web site, found a service partner (CompuWare Inc, Vienna, VA). They mentioned that such defects would be covered under my hardware warranty. However, the following day they mentioned that the the socket that accepts the power outlet on my laptop is cracked and that such damage is not covered my regular warranty.
In addition, CompuWare mentioned that I would be charged for labor for putting the laptop back together, hardware diagnostic fees, and the cost of replacing the defective hardware. I quickly voiced my concerns that I had purchases this product because of the track record that I had experience with your previous laptop and proceeded to quickly escalate the matter to the owner of the business. Long story short, they did not charge me any of the fees mentioned and quickly shipped the laptop to you for service. We did this because your service support person in Atlanta, GA mentioned that this sort of hardware defect would be covered under the standard warranty.
However, your support personnel called me today and mentioned that this is not the case. I have data on this laptop that I need for my business, the laptop is in your hands and you are not fixing this under warranty. The technician that I spoke with today mentioned that there is a long escalation process in order to resolve this issue. I'm very disappointed in your products. If this issue is not resolved in the next few days I will ask that you return my newly purchased defective laptop to me and I will make a point not to purchase any more hardware from you and will specifically point out my defective laptop to my clients. I need this issue resolved immediately, this is adversely impacting my business.

    Hi kmoussavi,
A couple of things: first, this is a peer-to-peer forum.  Your initial post seemed to be addressed to Lenovo, but we are all (mostly) just other users here trying to help each other out.
That said, sometimes we are fortunate enough to have a Lenovo employee stop by and offer help.  You should take JameZ up on his offer and send him a PM.  That email address to which you replied is probably just a bit bucket.
Just click on his name next to his post or here in my post.  In the right portion of the page that comes up you will find a link that lets you post a PM.  I've pasted an image of it below.

  • Iphone 6 hardware problem!

Okay so last night I noticed that my iPhone 6 wasn't charging correctly. Despite being on charge for a lengthy amount of time, it was only showing a 31% charge. A quick Google search recommended that I perform a hard-reset and it should correct the problem. However, upon doing so, my phone became completely unaccessible despite there being no problem like this prior to the hard-reset. No matter how many times I type in my passcode, the phone just vibrates and the screen turns black. I managed to completely wipe my phone and was presented with the message that my iPhone was too hot and needed to cool down. I thought, fair enough, I'll give it an hour to cool down (even though my bedroom was cold and the phone is very cool to the touch). After leaving it for a bit, I tried again and miraculously I was presented with the option to set up my iPhone. Hurrah! I managed to re-download all my apps and thought I was on a roll until I noticed that the battery was stuck at 50% and had not budged in over 2 hours. I decided to perform another hard-reset and I'm presented with exactly the same problem again. My phone is completely unusable due to "iPhone is too hot."
I used the online chat service to speak to an Apple employee who gave me a few options to try out which sadly did nothing to help the problem. They told me it was extremely strange and that it must be a hardware defect and an Apple Genius would be the best person to help me out. I have an appointment booked for the coming Monday - but I am just wondering where I stand from a warranty standpoint?
You see, my friends reckon that I would be able to replace the phone because of the hardware defect (assuming the Apple Geniuses can't help me out), but the phone has a small crack in the top right-hand corner of the phone (not on the screen). It was my understanding any crack of that sort would go against the warranty. I have no idea how it came to crack, I'm assuming it was in my pocket, but I can live with that. But am I under warranty still with the hardware defect? I'm more than willing to pay, of course, to get it fixed, but the crack aside, the defect really wasn't my fault?

No it wasn't. The crack was on the top right hand corner of the front of the phone. To be honest it wasn't a crack it was more like a chip in the glass. Apple didn't even notice. When I got home and set up my new phone, I looked in my emails and had an email from Apple detailing the whole replacement process. They listed that the phone had a small hairline crack, but it wasn't a hairline crack, it was a chip!
Just goes to show that Apple are more than willing to help you out.

  • Audigy 2 ZS: Channels wrong - hardware defe

I have my Audigy 2 ZS connected with my Surround-receiver (5.) via analog (3 cables: 2xchinch on 3,5 mm miniplug). The soundcard transfers four channels to lineout 2 and 3 (correct) but there is a big problem at lineout . The white cinch-end of lineout plays Subwoofer AND Center, while the red end doesnt transfer any channel at all.
I checked multiple cables already and it didnt help. The software should be also setted up correctly (5.).
So, can this be a hardware defect and I cant do anything? Or could a reinstall of the software maybe help?
    Thanks already,greets,

  • Screen defect of new GT60 2OD

    Hi,
first off, this is by far the best system I have owned so far.
Unfortunately I just got a display defect, I have 2 lines, a red one vertical and a larger white line (varying pixels wide) horizontally running across my display.
I did the following to narrow it down to specific components:
    - system works flawlessly via HDMI on an external screen, even with heavy duty applications, therefor no hardware error on GeForce side. (Using it to write this post)
    - lines show up right from the beginning, even on the BIOS screen, therefore no strange display driver issue.
    - No change regarding the issue when changing the angle of the lid, so cable is unlikely the root cause.
Therefore my assumption is that the panel is actually defect and needs to be replaced.
Unfortunately the notebook is just 10 days old and my primary workstation, so is there anything MSI can help me with as this book is really brand new? Or do I have to remove the larger HDD (need to keep a 2x back-up for my work) and send it in for repairs for and unknown period of time? I live in Seattle and could only find a MSI repair center in CA.
Any help or input would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Sorry to see this happen on such a great piece of hardware. But it happens to the best of us. I had my GX60 for 3 months before my HDD failed unexpectedly...
This could be a series of things. Could be a faulty panel or something just came loose in the laptop. Hard to say just by looking at it. But it is good you narrowed it down so you know root cause.
The first thing you can try to do is to return it to the store and ask for a new one. Sometimes the retail store you purchase it from has its own replacement policy for faulty products, especially during the early stages of owning it.
Otherwise you will have to submit an RMA to MSI to get it fixed. If the warranty policy is anything like the one here in Australia, MSI should arrange for a courier service to pick it up and send it back to you, free of charge. But I would suggest checking your warranty policy and find out how they handle RMAs in the US. It's possible the RMA policy is different.
    Hi,
I just checked with their service hotline. It is a little different here. I am responsible for shipping (incl. costs for package and insurance). It will then take them up to 14 business days to repair it.
They verified that I can remove the hard disk to secure my data and keep it during the time of the repair. It is OK to break the seal (they pointed out that this applies to USA/Canada only) but I will be responsible if I break stuff inside (which makes sense).
So I am rather disappointed that, if I want my $2000 laptop repaired after 10 days due to a hardware defect, I have to pay for that.
I now reached out to the store I bought it from, to see what they can do.
To be honest, if this is their standard policy for repair I will not buy another MSI notebook if the store gives me a full refund. It's disappointing!
