Has anyone downloaded the latest update of iMovie on macbook pro, and get the message in the app store "iMovie failed to update".
I have updated the imovie app on my macbook pro, which took a few times to complete. The app works fine, but the update does not show in my purchases on the app store. Is anyone else having this issue?
Try running the combo updater.

The problems began when I deleted a ymail account and replaced it with a new ymail account. My main account is a gmail. At some point Yahoo appear to have changed the suffix from ymail.com to yahoo.com. I could not and indeed cannot get iCloud to accept my new account. I kept getting told that my id and password could not be configured. Eventually I tried it on my mini iPad and "hey presto!" no problem at all. My new yahoo account nestles comfortably in iCloud on the mine iPad. But the MacBook Pro will have none of it! No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.

Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.

App Store has not updated for over 24 hours now, it was updating as usual early AM Nov. 6th, I have changed nothing, App Store will not let update or purchase happen now. Anyone know why? Thank you.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

As the title says.
I was installing the new EFI software update on my macbook pro and I became stuck on the grey screen with the window that said "installing 2 items", its been on the same screen for 2 1/2 hours. does anyone know what I can do?
I don't want to restart it because im scared that something might go wrong.

I download songs from my dropbox to my macbook pro and then upload them to my updated iTunes. iTunes plays them in entirety, but when i update my iTunes match, my iPhone and iPad skip many of the songs and albums. Why? I have tried everything.
If you have manually manage set, you do not sync.
If you want to sync, select the content desired to sync and sync.

Everytime I start up my MacBook Pro, I get this message. 'Insecure Startup Disabled.' "/Library/Startup items/HP Trap Monitor" has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings.
Update your HP Printer drivers/software at their website or uninstall using the developers method.

I would trot back into the Apple store and have them fix the problem (or call Applecare with a warranty issue). There is no sense in you wasting your time trying to troubleshoot things on a new computer.

In Safari, the link to "mail this web page" doesn't work, and the share link shows "no service". Does anyone have a solution? I have a MacBook Pro and upgraded to Yosemite yesterday.

I have a music library on an iMac and I got a new iPhone and a new MacBook Pro and I want some of the songs from the iMac library to be on my phone and my MacBook Pro and I have a new Apple ID on my phone and my Mac book pro, is this possible if so how do I do it?
Providing specifics on all the ways to do this will take more time than I am willing to spend here these days. You can do some of this with Home Sharing. You can transfer the entire library from one computer to another, If you do that you can delete what you don't want from the transferred library.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
You do not want to use a new AppleID. Change the AppleID on the new phone to the old ID. Purchases made with one AppleID cannot be transferred to a different one and it will be a royal pain to manage two Apple IDs.
Change iTunes Store account on an iOS device - Log out of your current account with Settings.app > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) > tap on your AppleID. Log in with a different account. Note, turning on automatic downloads or re-download past purchases may tie the device to that account for 90 days - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 https://discussions.apple.com/message/18484935 - "In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. I recently bought a new macbook pro and set it up using the migration assistant from my mac mini. I can't get the text message forwarding feature to work with both computers. It keeps saying that I only have 2 devices setup, my iPad and my macbook pro. When I mess with the setting on my mac mini, it goes from saying that that is one of the devices to my macbook pro being the 2nd device. I think that something happened as a result of my using the migration assistant and now it thinks that my macbook pro and my mac mini are one and the same computer. Any ideas?

The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
The new one is a 2.3 GHz intel core i7
In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem. Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page. Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.) -
I've lost the use of Appleworks by upgrading to 10.9.2.
Is it possible to partition the internal hard drive of my MacBook Pro and install an older Mac OS (10.6.8) on the second partition with OS 10.9.2 on the other? I'd like to be able to boot to the older OS when I need Appleworks and few other applications that aren't available on OS 10.9.2.
Any suggestions?

Here's an update. I was successful in creating two partitions on my internal drive, and in installing OS 10.6.6 on the second partition, as per your guidence. I now have it up to 10.6.8 with all the security updates and AppleWorks. A great thing.
Some thoughts:
• The partitioning had one hitch; it failed at first. But once I "repaired" the disc with Disc Utility the partitioning went thru.
• The partitioning took a long time in 'resizing the partition.' A few hours I think it was. Lots of progress bar watching.
• If I had it to do again, I'd size the two partitions differently. My original data was occupying about 230 Gb of the 320 Gb disc. I made the new partitions share the space, about 230 and 75Gb. That left very little available space for the main disc. I ought to have put some breathing room in there. As it is, it's an incentive to clean up all those files, especially all those iTunes files. I now have about 10% of available space there and mean to continue deleting.
So, all in all a good project that got me where I wanted to go. Thank you for your help.
