Has anyone in Canada been charged a fee to unlock their i-phone while visiting the US
We were asked by our Canadiancarrier to pay $50.00 to unlock the i-phone so we could replace the sim card while visiting in the United States. It ended up being cheaper to get a cheap phone with a package. Does anyone have other suggestions?
The carrier the device is locked to is the only one that can authorize an unlock. They set the parameters for the unlock. If they say it cost $50, then those are their rules.

Has anyone out there been charged for texts that were hung up and sent thousands of times?
I just wanted to know how many others out there may have had text/billing issues like mine, and then had to fight the useless battle of trying to get help from Verizon's Customer Service group. Let me tell you my story. One evening I came home, and sent a text to a friend who was visiting a dying friend. I sent the text ONE time. Then later in the evening, I tried to send more texts and phone calls, but I kept getting a message that I wasn't connected to the network. For most of the night, I was unable to place a call or send another text. I did manage to get/send (don't remember which) one call, then it started all over again. When I wen to bed that night after shutting it down several times, my phone was still useless. The next am my friend sends me a text that he had gotten the text about 250+ times. I shut the phone down for a while, but then he sent another one saying he had gotten it around 3000 times. Well, I get my bill for the month and low and behold they charged me over $150.00 EXTRA for all these texts. I only had 1500 on my plan. Of course, it my history with Verizon, i had never sent over 3000 texts before, so they can clearly see my volume history. I placed a call to get this resolved and was told that, of course, no supervisor was available, but he saw what happened, assured me that he would get this taken care of, but just needed to get with his supervisor and would call me the next day. NEVER GOT A RETURN call. I placed yet another call and spoke to a guy named Dwayne. He did call me back, but just to leave me a voice mail letting me know that they deemed the charges to be valid and they would NOT be issuing a credit. TWO more calls later, I have spoken to 3 different reps-1 who claimed to be a supervisor. I was promised 2 more times that I would get a call back by the next day and of course have still not received calls back from any of these people. In the meantime, I paid the portion of my bill that was VAILID. After wasting ALL MY TIME trying to get this resolved, what did I get today? A text warning me to pay my bill to avoid interuption!
Anyone else had this problem? I just filed a complaint with the FCC and I urge anyone else that has had this problem to do the same!!! Verizon needs to hear that people are sick of this poor service and shady billing practices!I haven't seen any one reported issues like this but have you checked that your device isn't part of the issue because I have ran into a issue with my message saying it wasn't sent but it did but never the number of times you have experienced..
Now as for the billing situation this may be a little bit hard to give you a solution, I know this may not be the solution you want but you may have to simply keep trying to see if you can get a workable solution for your situation. -

Oh gosh, I saw the same issue. Because i was messing around with something earlier. I don't know why Apple took off the option of "none" as a payment since not everyone puts in a credit card and people use iTunes gift cards. I think they just made that changed recently. Anyways, Ive just found out about this new issue also, so i don't know what you could do... maybe call apple support?

This is caused by using the same iCloud account on both phones. When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices connected to the account. To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want from each account (e.g., deleting your son's contacts from your account, and vice versa). -
Since the ios7 update has anyone lost ability to charge phone with external battery back! And is there going to be an update to correct this?
Modular747 is a troll with very little real knowledge of the iPhone charging systems (as evidenced by his uninformed comments in other threads).
It could very well be iOS 7 refusing to charge from "non-authorized" accessories. We have done A/B tests with the same accessory (in this case cables) with iOS6 and iOS7 and have seen the cable work with iOS6, then not work (i.e. not charge) with iOS 7. Same device, same cable. Only change was the OS.
Keep the pressure on Apple, folks. It is not OK to make working accessories unusable with a software update. -

I've seen references to this on here, but no solutions.
I use my 27" 2010 iMac to share Internet in my home, latest versions of OSX and iOS.. Works fine, sharing with iPhones, an iPad and my Apple TV 2.
Recently though, I changed to WPA2, and the Apple TV can't see Home Sharing is on. If I switch security (ie WPA2) off, then it can see it again.
So has anyone found a way to use WPA2 successfully with their Apple TV?

Unfortunately you have a lot of very questionable old, incompatible, and probably bad software on your Mac that is not playing well with Mavericks. Some of these can be difficult to uninstall, particularly if you are not familiar with poking around in Mac system folders.
You might consider cutting to the chase and doing a clean install:
backup your documents and passwords, network settings, etc.
Completely erase your hard drive
Reinstall mavericks and your apps from scratch (not from backups)
and finally replacing your documents.
It can be a good thing. Spring cleaning. If you want to go this route, let me know, I can give you some more detailed suggestions for how to do it. The advantage is you can get Mavericks running really fast and reliably, and then be more selective about what you reinstall. A lot of the stuff you have on there is probably from apps you don't even use anymore (like for your Blackberry), or that really aren't necessary. -

hiya ive recently got the iphone4s and have been trying ever since to get it to sync with my itunes account on my laptop but everytime i try to register it, it freezes up on me and then i have to do the whole process again without luck has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you resolve it

Has anyone in Canada Ontario received their 4s?
I pr-ordered from apple on the morning pre-orders started and my account still says "processing items". Just wondering if anyone in Ontario has received their new phone or atleast if the status has moved to shipped?
I ordered a white one BTO, it sounds like black ones are in slightly higher demand and therefore taking longer to ship (or maybe they have to spray it black and wait for drying time :-)). Also, sounds like there was some bad weather in China which delayed some of the shipping by a day or two, but everything appears to be back on track now.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but hopefully it'll ship much before this weekend! Wishing i hadn't waited so long to order, had basically made up my mind before they were released.
