Having problem running a servlet program in Tomcat5.5
Hi,
I wrote a sample servlet, HelloWorld.java and I compiled it and put the .class file in the WEB-INF\Classes directory in the Tomcat directory. Now when I do this,
http://localhost:8080/ it's working fine but when I do this, http://localhost:8080/servlet/HelloWorld I am getting an error message "*HTTP Status 404"*.
I have done no changes to web.xml and server.xml. Should I be doing anything?
My HelloWorld.Java file is as below.
package Users.Ravi.Desktop.CurrentProject.Servlets;
import java.io.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
public class HelloWorld extends HttpServlet {
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request,
HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException {
PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
out.println("Hello World");
}Thanks.
Ah, I see the problem now. You need to put servlet class as
<code class="jive-code jive-java">Users.Ravi.Desktop.CurrentProject.Servlets.HelloWorld</code>
<code class="jive-code jive-java">So, your web.xml will have</code>
<servlet>
<servlet-name>HelloWorld</servlet-name>
<servlet-class></code><code class="jive-code jive-java">Users.Ravi.Desktop.CurrentProject.Servlets.HelloWorld</code><code class="jive-code jive-java"></servlet-class>
</servlet>{code}

Not at all, because servlets require a servlet container. Some Eclipse plugins (Lomboz etc.) do provide integration with those.

VYou need to add the JAR containing the servlet API in the external JARs for the project.

I'm having problems creating a simple program for an introduction to programming class.
I'm not exactly sure where this question should go so please excuse me if this is in the wrong place. At this point in the class we are learning about if/else statements. The text provided was written by a collaboration of the teachers. In the course material
for the if/else part they show us examples using numbers. Then the course also shows us a video to help us better understand (it doesn't. I'm not the only student having problems on the online course.) by giving us an example using bool to show if a statement
is true. Now our actual assignment is what is confusing me and other students. The assignment is to create a program that asks a question such as "Is this class hard?" and it should have three different responses depending on what you type in. If
you type "yes" it would respond "Oh no! I'm sorry you're having problems!" if you type "no" it would respond "Glad to hear!" if you type something random it would say "I'm sorry. I didn't understand. Please respond
with either "yes" or "no"." I'm not exactly sure how we were supposed to know how to do that from the course material provided and it's stressing me and other students out. Any and all help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.Make sure your folder having administration rights.
some folders property is read only... so check by right clicking on the folder and the properties.
This may help.

Having Problems with my mail Program
I am having Problems with my email account. I am still on OS snow Leopard and just recently ordered the Newer Mac mini with Lion.
I use to have the Mobile Me account, since I haven't switched over to iCloud yet, I still have the Mobile Me account set up in my email account and still have the Mobile Me idisk on my desktop.I also have my other local isp email account in my mail program. Just now I am getting a email problem from my other email account, I am getting my email but I get a pop up window that request my password from my other email account and at the top of the side bar where the mail icons are on the left side there is a "A" with a Circle around it next to my mail icon or sometimes a " ~ " (Tilda) next to the mail icon. I tried to contact my ISP to ask them if they were having propblems at their end but they didn't get back to me, they usually do get back to me.
Since I have the Mobile Me email account un active, am wondering if the mobile me account is effecting my other active email? am also wondering if the computer still thinks that the Mobile me email account is still active and is trying to get mail through my other active email account?
Does someone have any soloutions for me? or can someone Please help me? cause this is very fustrating cause that Password wondow keeps popping up and I can not turn it off from popping up unless I completly quit the mail program but if I restart it or reopen it up, it starts all over again.
Please someone Help me if you know what is going on here?
Thank You,
Mrs. Trisha Fosteryou might try to look for the VACUUM command (do a google search on: mail.app vacuum).
The ~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index file is a SQLite database. it does slow down as things are added and deleted. You can also find people who suggest deleting (or moving this file to the desktop or somewhere else) after quitting MAIL and then restarting MAIL... it will tell you it needs to import all your mail... it SHOULD find all the mail and rebuild the "Envelope Index" file. You can try it.

Problem with the servlet program
I created a simple servlet program and tried to deploy the same through Sun Microsystem's J2EE Application Server 1.4. But after I included the servlet file to the deploytool and selected the servlet option, it gives an error msg. that says the file included is not a valid servlet file.
However, all the other types like jsp, etc. is working fine.
I am new to this servlet. I know it might be a small mistake that I may be making. Can anyone please help me to resolve the same.Have you looked up a servlet tutorial to see if your code maybe isn't missing something?
There is little help anyone can give you at this point as you basically do not share anything that you can be helped with. Post the servlet code, judging by the error message the problem most likely lies there. -
Is anyone else having problems running Flash Player on Mountain Lion?
After installing Flash Player on my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion, my computer started crashing when I put it to sleep. When I uninstalled Flash, I no longer had the problem. Is anyone else having problems like this with Flash Player? Is this an issue with Mountain Lion or Adobe? Is there a fix for it, or am I just out of luck with the prospect of running Flash Player on my new Mac?
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
Problem running a concurrent program from Reports
Hi,
I've come across a problem while running a concurrent program from Reports. The report is executed OK and at the end, I call a concurrent program by firing fnd_request.submit_request. I catch then the req_id returned and it gives me 0. I tried to replace the concurrent program, which is a UNIX shell script, with just a simple script that echos "hello", but anyway, I get 0 as return value from fnd_request.submit_request.
The next step I tried to set apps_initialize with proper vUSER_ID, vRESP_ID and vRESP_APPL_ID, but did not get away with that. My last try was to hardcode vUSER_ID to a sysadmin user, in case this was rights-related issue but did not work as well.
Am now looking into a possibility of actually getting the error, why it failes. I found some posts where FND_MESSAGE.RETRIEVE and FND_MESSAGE are used but this apparently does not work under Reports (am using reports builder v. 9.2.0.4.0).
Any suggestions how to solve this issue?
Thanks,
David Lacina.Hi,
Make sure that the concurrent program you are calling exists (case sensitive) and is enabled.
Create a PL/SQL package and use that to call your request - the you'll be able to use fnd_message.

Having problem running an application
I have recently installed jdk 1.2.2 and i have no problem running applet but when i try to run an application i get the message 1 error can't find<filename> . java.
The path in autoexec.bat is fine. JRE File is include in my file jdk1.2.2.
I have installed and deinstalled it a couple of time and can't make it work.
Could someone help me please!!
Thanking you in advance!doesn't sound like a path problem at all. you say when you try to RUN the app you get a message can't find filename.java. When you're running the app you run the binary class file i.e. java MainClass.class. If you're compiling the app you would do javac MainClass.java. Clarify your situation further if this does not help you out.

Hi,
I use Tomcat 5.5.17 to run servlets. I can run the example servlets that come with Tomcat successfully. I have configured the java_home and class path variables. When I create a new servlet in the webapps/servlets-examples folder, I can run it.
However, when I try creating a new folder under webapps (named trial) and when I try to run my servlet from there I get the 404 Servlet not found error.
The steps I followed are:
1.Created a new folder trial under C:\apache-tomcat 5.5.17\webapps
2.Created the WEB_INF folder under trial and then the classes folder under it.
3. Put my servlet HelloServlet.class under the classes folder.
4.Put WEB.XML under the C:\apache-tomcat 5.5.17\webapps\trial\WEB_INF folder and made the following entry
<servlet>
<servlet-name>HelloServlet</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>HelloServlet</servlet-class>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>HelloServlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/HelloServlet</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
5. I tried to access my servlet using the following URL:
http://localhost:8080/trial/HelloServlet
and that gives the 404 error.
Are there any additional steps when we are running a servlet a folder we create?
I searched the internet and found something about setting the context path but I could not understand how to do it for Tomcat 5.5.17 as the documents I found on the net were for older versions.
I would be grateful if someone could help me out. Thanks in advance!
Aniticipating your help!
Thanks and Regards,
AsanaHi.. You can check your application context path through Tomcat Manager application.
URL is :
http://localhost:8080/manager/list

Some differences in Java settings giving me problems running a java program
Hello,
We have a Java app in our web-site. We haven't done that app our self and it has been working for quite some time.
Now on my computer the java app loads just nicely.
But for other users there java app crashes. So basically there has to be somekind of settings problem between.
But we have checked the settings and I simply can't find the difference.
The other users keep getting error that class not found.

We have Windows Xp sp3 and Internet Explorer 8 in use.
I actually made a clean Xp install the otherday. Installing latest java and no security settings added from domain. Also I put the site on trusted sites and allowed all in IE. And I still got that error in that new clean Xp install. On my personal computer the Java app still works just fine. Unlucky the one who has done the Java app is not able to help us.Hello,
I downloaded the jar-file and opened it with Winzip. The class in question was in the jar-file.
I also put logging on in my computer where the App is working.

Problems running a java program
Hello,
I have absolutely no java experience whatsoever, and I need to fix a program that suddenly stopped running properly after several years without problems. Basically, I have a perl script that calls a java program. Everytime I run this perl script from the web browser, the java program returns an internal error:
# # HotSpot Virtual Machine Error, Internal Error # Please report this error at # http://www.blackdown.org/cgi-bin/jdk # # Error ID: 5649525455414C53504143450E4350500024 # # Problematic Thread: prio=5 tid=0x804e680 nid=0x6d16 runnable #
However, when I run the perl script command line, it runs fine. I added the -verbose option to the java call, and I discovered that the program stops running after it opens the .jar files but before it loads them .... these files have full read permissions, so I don't think that's the problem. Any ideas?
Thanks!...fix a program that suddenly stopped running properly after several years without problems.Which means either the program changed or the environment changed. I would guess the environment. The most likely possibilities: new version of the operating system, new version of perl, new version of java. Also possible: new version installed of any of the previous without removing older versions, new software not associated with the first, new mapped drives and/or changed env vars.
