Having Troubles Gettin Lines Of Input!?!?!?!!?

I'm trying to build a command line application (named Assemble) which will read (from standard in) a tagged "discussion" stream and print a (somewhat) organized version of the tagged part of the discussion (to standard out).... but i'm having trouble getting multiple lines of input.. i tried a while statement that looked like this... while ( (input = in.readline()) != null ) and all i got was every other line of input to get displayed to the screen or to a file... how can i fix this??? i had the while statement above input = in.readLine();
     BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader (new InputStreamReader( System.in ));
     String input;
     input = in.readLine();
     System.out.println( input );

thanks.. i have the input coming in.. but how can i redirect input to output within the program.. i'm trying to move the input lines to either a file called head.txt, body.txt, or foot.txt... once the files are in there.. i want to read them out to the screen... how can i do this? at the moment..i'm moving them just to the screen..

    How do I get info into the contacts to stay?

    If you're using the iPhone as recommended, your contacts are stored in a contact manager application on your computer, such as Outlook or Address Book.  Your contacts reside safely there, and will synch back to your phone.
    If you didn't do that, your only hope is to restore your new phone from your old phone's backup to get those contacts back.

    I'm having trouble recording line-level input from a stereo system with a Griffin iMic. Even though all extraneous inputs have been deactivated, I'm still getting a slight feedback hum. There should be no extraneous noise whatsoever. I haven't done this in quite a while, so I've forgotten what I must do. Any help is apprreciated. Thanks very much. Peace,

    M Wohlgy,
    (I know this is months after your post.)
    Control of the iMic volume is in the Preferences pane called "Sound". You can set the output and the input levels there.
    Remember the iMic's position switch works only for the imput, either close to the microphone icon for "microphone" or away from it for "line in".
    I use the iMic exclusively.

    just  the audio, eh?. If you were using DVI or DisplayPort that might be different, but for audio alone, it shouldn't be that hard.  Just grab a 3.5 mm stereo plug to 2 rca cables adapter. Plug the smaller end into the back of your Mac Pro (or the Front), where you see either the headphone or speaker icon). Alt-click on the speaker icon at the top of your screen to show all audio inputs and outputs. Make sure it's set to Line Out.  Plug the red and white end into the audio in jacks on the back of your tv and set it to the correct input. I don't know if your tv will allow just the audio to play. Usually one has to connect up something else, but hopefully I'm wrong.  If you were using DVI, or DisplayPort, you'd need an active DVI--HDMI adapter or a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, but
    I don't know for sure

    Couple of points to begin with:
    1. Class names should begin with an upper case letter
    2. Class names should be descriptive
    3. You shouldn't call your class main (this kind of follows from the first two points).
    4. Always use {} around blocks of code, it will make your life, and those of the people who have to eventually maintain your code a lot easier.
    5. Never ignore exceptions, i.e. don't use an empty block to catch exceptions.
    6. Avoid assiging a local variable to null, especially if the only reason you are doing it is to "fix" a compilation error.
    7. Your method names should reflect everything that the method does, this should encourage you to break the application logic down into the smallest tasks possible (a general rule is that each method should do one task, and do it well). In the example below, I ignore this advice in the loadFile() method, but it's left as an exercise to you to fix this.
    8. You should use descriptive variable names (fin may make sense now, but will it in 6 months time?), and use camel case where the name uses multiple words, e.g. wordcount should be wordCount
    On the problem at hand, I'll post a cut down example of what you want, and you can look at the javadocs, and find out how it works.
    This code uses the auto-boxing feature of 1.5 (even though I don't like it, again it's left as an exercise for you to remove the auto-boxing ;) ) and some generics (you should be able to work out how to use this code in 1.4).

  • Im having trouble making some changes to our webite. Im using DW CC 2014, 8.1 , HP Pavillion pc. Id be happy to pay someone to help.

    im trying to make some changes on our website (oilfiltercrushers.com). Im using DW CC 2014, 8.8, HP Pavion pc. The problems include:trying to move an image farther to the left & also to remove too much vertical  space, trying to remove "AAAs tht show up on a webpage table even they don't show on the local file that was put, a webpage that I cant see on the website even though it was put & appears in the remote files folder. Id be happy to pay someone to help me fix these problems. Thanx, Paul ([email protected], 4146514636)

    Hi Nancy
    Thanx for your response and commenting on our homepage. I wasn't aware of the problems you mentioned. However it has ranked on the first page of Google, etc for 20 years, so that's not my concern at this point.
    The 2 most immediate things are getting rid of the  A"s showing up on the table on oilfiltercrushers/truck_ofc.aspx and on /defaultnew.aspx , (the intended home page when I get it fixed,) I get a server error highlighting line 293
    &nsp;
    . Im not sure what to do about that...
    I hope you can help me with this. If its more convenient, you can call me at 414-651-4636. I'll pay you for your input.

    I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Using a the string args to input command line numerical input

    Hello,
    I am trying to allow the user to input a number from the command line to set up the number of elements in an array. I am having trouble converting the string info to int. Could someone post an example of how this is possible? Or a way to read a string for a numerical value?
    Example:
    nameofprogram 105 (so this means they want a 105 element array create when the program starts)
    Message was edited by:

    try this
    public class Test {
         public static void main(String[] args)
              final int i = Integer.parseInt( args[0]);
              int[] a = new int;
              System.out.println(a.length);
    if you have to have variable in size part of the array object creator it needs to be final.

  • Hi, I am having trouble MacBook Air crashing since Yosemite upgrade. I ran an Etresoft check but I don't know what it means... my system runs slowly and crashes. I have to force shutdown. Sometimes screen is black for a split second b/w webmail pages

    Hello,
    I am having trouble with my MacBook Air 13 inch June 2012 MacBook Air5, 2 4GB RAM  details below in Etresoft report. I recently upgraded to Yosemite and am having system trouble. My computer crashes and I have to force quit to restart. When using webmail there is a black screen for a split second between pages. This did not happen before. I am worried that it is not running properly and perhaps I need to revert to the previous operating system. I only have a MacBook Air and no need to share images between a tablet or phone so I did not need the new photo sharing software of Yosemite. I wonder if I don't have enough RAM to run it? I did not run time machine before I made the upgrade as I did not realise the significance of an upgrade as not very Mac literate. Any advice on whether my system is in danger... most appreciated! I am writing a book and making a back up but this machine is my lifeline and my work is conducted through it. It ran perfectly before... the Yosemite upgrade has perhaps highlighted some problems and it has unnerved me!
    Thanks ever so much for your advice!
    Lillibet

    When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
    These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
              DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
    (not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
    If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
    In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
    Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
    I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
