Header image on our outgoing email is ruined when secured

Our outgoing e-mail all gets a company header image. It's a 650 x 66 gif image that is applied to all outgoing messages right before hitting the ironport.
This header image goes out fine unsecured, but if we secure the message we run into a problem.
When I view the secure e-mail in CRES, I get a broken image link, and the image URL is changed to: cid:[email protected]
Although in the secure e-mail there is an attachment called short_header.gif. If I click on this attachment I see the header image open in a new browser window.
This is NOT what we want. We want the short_header.gif to be in the body of the message, like company letterhead. We were told prior to purchasing this appliance that this was possible. This is why we didn't go with Tumbleweed for secure e-mail, because that stripped the image and sent it as an attachment.
Any idea's how to get this working?

We are sending out the cid: matched to the content-id.
For example, the content id header before the data is:
------=_Part_27139_31810384.1256219199103
Content-Type: image/gif; name="short header.gif"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-ID: <200910229463981>
Content-Disposition: inline; filename="short header.gif"
and the image tag where we refrence this is embedded as:
This DOES work, but once we encrypt the message this breaks for some stupid reason. The CID isn't altered. It just shows short header.gif as an attachment and a broken image link at the top of the screen.
Any ideas?

I have followed both Godaddy's and Apple's instructions. I have removed and readded the account numerous times. I don't understand why this will not send from Apple mail.

    Is incoming email working correctly?
99.9% of this sort of issues is due to missconfiguration. Often silly thing - wrong port, incorrect encryption setting.
    Another 0.1% are connectivity issues.

  • Block outgoing email because of VPN server

We have Cisco VPN on ASA for over 4 years. Recently, barracudacentral.org blocks our outgoing email because of these reasons: •Your email server contains a virus and has been sending out spam. •Your email server may be misconfigured. •Your PC may be infected with a virus or botnet software program. •Someone in your organization may have a PC infected with a virus or botnet program. •You may be utilizing a dynamic IP address which was previously utilized by a known spammer. •Your marketing department may be sending out bulk emails that do not comply with the CAN-SPAM Act. •You may have an insecure wireless network which is allowing unknown users to use your network to send spam. •In some rare cases, your recipient's Barracuda Spam Firewall may be misconfigured. This is the undeliverable message: barracudacentral.org rejected your message to the following e-mail addresses and  gave this error: Service unavailable; Client host [VPN IP address-illinois.hfc.comcastbusiness.net] blocked using Barracuda Reputation; http://bbl.barracudacentral.com/q.cgi?ip=VPN IP Address The IP address they blocks is our VPN server. • E-mail looses all images if mail server doesn't accept outgoing email...

I open some web page in Safari, press Command+i, new email message is created and all web page content is inserted in the email message, including all images. Nice! I enter email address and send email.
If for some reason outgling mailserver doesn't accept my outgoing email, the same email is shown again to let me choose another outgoing mail server.
BUT - at this time all images in the email body are gone! Instead of the images I see blue rectangles with the white question marks on them. And if I proceed and send such email via another email server, recipients get email from me without pictures embedded in the email.
Can Apple fix this bug? It's really annoying, because quite often outgoing mail server of my ISP is not accepting my outgoing emails and I cannot resend email through another mail server, because images are already lost - I have to delete email, switch back to Safari, again Command+i, again enter email address and then change email account and then try to send again...

Posting this here is a good idea if you’re looking for possible solutions/workarounds, but if all you want is to let Apple know so that it’s fixed, you’d better do it in one of the following places:

  • Why are Images ocassionally stripped from outgoing emails?

Ocassionally, images in outgoing emails are stripped, leaving only an empty box with a small red 'x' in the corner. How do I fix this?

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

<p>Sending Otis to Brian for the board and train program was the best decision I ever made.  After being told Otis could not be helped and that he should be put down, I was devastated.  Otis has now been back from Brian's program for a few weeks and is extremely obedient and friendly.  He is the same puppy we brought home a couple years ago, but calmer and without any aggression.  We work on Otis' obedience daily as well as walk him and put him on the treadmill.   Thanks to Brian, our dog is happy-go-lucky and more approachable.  The list goes on and on of how Brian has helped the family, myself, and especially Otis.  If you are having issues with your dog, especially behavior and aggression problems, my advice to you is to trust Brian.  Your dog will be in good hands with a safe, reliable, responsible, dog lover that will treat your dog like his own.<br />

The issue with that white space is explained by the use of relative positioning of your menu. Remember that relative positioning visually allows you to move an element, but that its "shadow" or "foot print" is retained in the document flow. So it still takes up space where it originally flowed in your content, and this causes the header image to position itself the way it does. Turn off the relative positioning of the menu to see what I mean. A simple solution is to set the #header to relative positioning, and then apply absolute positioning to the menu.
There are other issues with your code. Much of it can be simplified, and you should really stop using ID selectors from this point on, and predominantly use classes instead. The use of ID selectors ought to be limited as much as you can - they force you to write bloated convoluted code.
Try to write DryCSS (Don't Repeat Yourself).
Here is my somewhat cleaned up code. Notice I removed and simplified most of the css selectors. Some have no css properties at all anymore. And be careful that you cannot use re-use the same id selector in your html  code: it will not validate. #program1 must become .program1

  • Thunderbird changes outgoing email address

    Composing a new email:
In the "To" field I start to type an address. Thunderbird provides a drop-down of matches from my address book. I select one of the addresses. Thunderbird puts it into the "To" field. At this point, my cursor is still in the "To" field. Then I hit Enter to move to the next field, & Thunderbird changes the email address to a different address (a different address from my address book).
If I add a space after the email address before pressing Enter, Thunderbird leaves the email address as is.
Behavior is kind of random - address is not replaced all the time. Also, for a while Thunderbird will make one change - like always changing address X to address Y, then it will switch to another change - always replacing address Z with address W.
The replacement address is always one that is in the address book.
Also, Thunderbird randomly colors some outgoing email addresses as red, even though they are in my address book.

    hi jbh01
The easiest method is to use the contacts sidebar as described in option 2.
But contacts do need to be in an Address Book.
However, if your issue is to reveal more TO fields, then you can drag the divider downwards. See image below.
If you write using Plain Text , there will be no Formatting Bar. If you use HTML formatting, then there will be a Formatting Bar.
In the image below there is a Formatting Bar between 'Subject' and the composing area. In the image below, I've indicated this with a red line.
Use mouse and hover over this line, the mouse should chnage to a double headed arrow. Left click and hold down to grab the line. Then move mouse downwards to move the line. It will reveal more TO fields.

  • My outgoing emails are being reformatted. I do not want this.

Outgoing emails are being reformatted (see image). This happens when text is pasted in and when emails are typed out in Thunderbird.
This reformatting occurs even when sending to myself.
Compose in HTML is on and all settings have been reset.
How do I send emails as typed?
    Cheers
    Fritz

  • Initial picture taken during set up attaching to my outgoing email

Hi... I just bought a MacBook Pro (Mac OS X)( i'm not sure of the version as I'm not home right now... i just bought it 5 days ago so I assume the latest?) and during the initial set up I allowed it to take a picture (as part of the step by step set up process) and now that picture, along with all my personal information (home phone, home address), is attaching itself to my outgoing yahoo emails.   I found the Address Book in Preferences/Accounts and I saw that initial picture and my personal info that it was attaching and I changed the picture AND i deleted all the personal info.  However, the initial pic and my personal info was STILL attaching to my outgoing emails so I completely shut down yahoo email and i rebooted my computer... twice...  but the initial pic and my info is still attaching itself.   How do i make this stop?
Also, on my old Mac my 'home' directory was called my first and last name but on this new Mac my 'home' directory is named after my email address.   For example... if my name is Jane Smith and my email is [email protected], on my old Mac the 'home' directory name is 'Jane Smith' but on this new Mac the 'home' directory is called 'JS12345.   Can i change that?
Thank you so much for your help,
    Patricia

    Hi,
When you deleted the Address Card that was the (Head and Shoulders icon) My Card did you create another card with your details and a new Pic and set that as the My Card  ?
(My Card is set from the Card Menu > Make this My Card)
In System Preferences > Accounts what is the name of your account there ?
In System Preferences > there is s new Pane to the left of MobileMe where you can add emails, Screen Names and other internet related names  (I forget the name of the Pane and don't have access to my son's Lion computer)
I have Mail version 3.6 on my Leopard computer and cannot see that it has anywhere to change the Pic.
(I also tested sending myself an email and cannot see the attached pic anyway)
I have also checked my Address Book (version 4.1.2) and cannot see that it has anything to say what Pic it chooses to send to the Mail App.
I tried changing the Pic and it seems the Adress Book remembers the last folder you got a Pic from to choose as the pic (Rather than it being the Recents Pics folder as I said in the iChat thread)
I do think it is something to do with the way the Mac USer Account has become "named" with the email address.
However this is a little out of my league but the questions I have asked may help others to help you
(Plus my response will put it near the top again.)

  • On 3G we cannot send emails from either our iPhones or iPad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all.  Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Email account.  What is causing this and what do we need to do to resolve it?

On 3G we cannot send  Business emails from either our iPhones or Ipad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all.  Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Account using both 3G and WiFi.
We bought the iPhones and Ipad so that we could send emails while we are out of the Office, but we are not able to do this unless we can find a WiFi connection. Incoming emails are fine.  We use IMAP, for Business emails just incase this is relevant and I know that Hotmail is POP3.
Our technical IT knowledge is not great, so we look forward to your suggestions as to how to resolve this.

Contact whomever supports the email account and get the correct Outgoing email server settings from them.

  • How do I change the photo of myself that is being placed on my outgoing emails?

I just realized that Safari is attaching a test photo of me to each of my outgoing email, mostly job applications. I'm sitting there with morning hair, a t-shirt and 5 oclock shadow. I searched everywhere looking for a way to either change or remove the image but to no avail. Can someone help me with this problem... Budman65

dominic is correct in saying, "The photo image in the mail composing window will not be sent along with the message." The only way anyone recieving your mail would have that picture is if they had that picture of you in their Contacts, which is highly unlikely.
But if you send a test to yourself, you will see it. The test must be sent to someone else.

  • Wrong outgoing email address

    Hi,
I have several email accounts set on my Mail. Recently outgoing email messages that I had sent from my A address, where arriving to the recipients as if they where sent from my B address. If I temporarely disable my B address from the advanced tab, and I relaunch Mail, things work properly again. But as soon as I enable address B, it starts doing it again.
    Any clues?
    Thanks,

    Hi brunus.
I’ve never seen this particular problem reported before and don’t really know what’s going on here, but I just came across this thread again while searching for something else, and thought that if you still have the problem and are reading this, I’d try re-creating the preferences file — I have no idea whether it’ll make a difference, though:
    1. Write down your Mail > Preferences > Accounts settings or take screen shots of them.
    2. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Mail data is enabled either in Mail > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
    3. Quit Mail.
    4. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the Mail folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    5. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this solves the problem).
    6. Open Mail. You’ll have to set up your non-.Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done.
    7. You’ll have to re-configure some of your Mail > Preferences settings. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    8. As a side effect of re-creating com.apple.mail.plist, Mail might rename Outbox (which is where messages waiting to be sent are stored) to Delivered. The name of that mailbox is actually a misnomer, as it would contain messages (if any) that couldn’t be delivered for some reason. You can delete that mailbox if you wish.
    9. If the problem is fixed now and .Mac synchronization of Mail data was enabled at the beginning, enable it again, go to System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, click Reset Sync Data, and choose the appropriate options to reset the Mail data stored on the .Mac server with the data locally stored on the computer, i.e. sync data must flow from the computer to the .Mac server.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • Auto save a copy of outgoing email in SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
I need to save a copy of an outgoing email from SharePoint Server 2010. So is there any option in SharePoint to save a copy as audit or do we need to write custom thing for this? Any idea how to achieve this .  pls share your thougths  if you done
this before or any ideas about solution approach also great help.

One thing to note - there's a limit if you are using SharePoint Designer workflow to send the original email - it cannot email back to another SharePoint email-enabled list. You are  'protected' from yourself.
We had an instance where I needed data to cross site boundaries in a site collection, and I had to do it through workflow. So our 'hack' was to email another Exchange mailbox set up specifically to relay emails. That mailbox had a rule to forward the email
    back into SharePoint.
Terribly clumsy but it works. A SharePoint workflow email cc's the Exchange mailbox, which then forwards the email back to an email-enabled discussion list used as an email store.
