Heading as a link - propper way?

Whats the propper way to have a heading as a link?
This works for me, but is it best practice?

Thanks

I notice that more and more web developers finally have the guts to ignore the limitations of IE. I think that is a good thing and am very happy about that.
In my opinion I'm no sure that is good news. I understand their frustrations but you need to work with the browers available at this current time. The majority of users still use IE so you should design with the majority in mind in my opinion.

Letting IE set the limits within which web content can be presented has become the same as enabling an addict to continue his habits. The more visitors will notice what a bad browser IE really is, the faster it will either get fixed or disappear.
I don't think visitors notice IEs limitations because they never compare a design cross browser. The emphasis is on the web developer to make the site look similar x-browser and certainly not ignore the most popular one, in favour of using css3 properties which are not yet supported in that browser.
I'd think differently if it were IE that supported some of the css3 properties that minority browsers do now.

  • How get links the way I want them on new pages?

    For new pages, is there a way I can tell DW to make the links the color I want on all new pages? thanks.

    Yes you can by learning how to style your links:  I suggest try this link:
    <http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_link.asp>
    Make sure these new links are local to your pages.  this is done by putting the styles in the header section (avoid using inline styles for reasons best kept secret to avoid arguments).

  • Place linked, any way to update several layers at once when changing location of source files? (i.e. moving source folder to different location/computer)

    I have a PS file whic I wanna use as template for several works. I've got several layers containing external images which have been "placed linked" and which are organised in a single folder in my computer. I believe the links are saved as absolute therefore if I copy the PSD file and the source images folder into a different computer (or even if I move the source folder to a different location in the same computer) all smart objects have to be relinked one by one!!! any way to do it all at once (as I guess it is the case in Premiere and AE) assuming they're all in the same folder???
    Also similar question when renaming all source images, any way PS can link to specific file and keep the link even if a name change happens?
    If possible it'd be a huge time saver!
    Thanks

    anyone any help? Thx!

  • Flash header in iWeb - Links not working

    Here's the situation: I managed to get a flash header to show up on my  site by using an HTML Snippet. There are three buttons in this flash  file. Each of them open up drop-down menus with links to different pages  found on the site.
    Currently, when I load up the site in my browser, only the drop-down  menus open and do what they're supposed to. The links within those menus  do NOT work.
    The question: How do I properly create links in Flash so that they'll  navigate to the urls I specify? Any help would be greatly appreciated;  I'm kinda in a rut until I figure this out. Thanks!

    The most obvious thing to do is to ask Flash question is the Flash forum :
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash
    Or search the Internets : [links in flash|http://www.google.com/search?q=linksinflash]

  • Setting up independant dual-head configuration in the usual way?

    I'm preparing to set up a dual monitor system pretty soon using an ATI Radeon card. I went through the wiki and read what the ATI page has to say:
    Independent dual-headed setups can be configured the usual way
    The problem is that it gives no indication of what the usual way is.  I vaguely have an idea that I might need xinerama, but couldn't find a wiki page on that either... I've also tried googling with limited results.
    Is anyone able to let me know of a good resource for this?

    Check this out:  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg
    I'm using a radeon 6870 with kde and in my case I was able to set up my dual screens using Settings > System Settings > Hardware > Display and Monitor > Size & Orientation, clicking Save as Default once I had things set up the way I wanted made the settings permanent
    If you're going to use Ati's catalyst control center driver then you should probably also read this page:  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI_Catalyst

  • Blackberry Link Two Way Outlook Sync

    Hi,
     I was wondering if anyone knew the ETA on the two way syncing between Blackberry Link and Outlook. We are a small business that does not have Exchange and is not overly thrilled about cloud services. That said, all of our contacts and calendar events are synced through USB between our devices and local Outlook profiles.
    Sadly, I was told that the new phones would have this capability. However, they do not. Until this software is developed and implemented, we are unable to sync our information.
    Thank you for any help you can give,
    Preston

    No one here knows of the ETA. I hope it is sooner than later, but BlackBerry has not stated.
    I'm like you and was performing the wired sync, however I have been quite pleased with the OTA sync workaround using outlook.com, it's not perfect, but it cerainly works.

              position: fixed;

    I'm not 100% sure where you find them in CS5 (I use CS4) I would just add them manually to the container, header and homelink css. All you need to do is open the .css file and add...
    top:#px;   /* The # you use defines how close to the top of the window the div sits */
    left:#px;   /* The # you use defines how close to the left of the window the div sits */
    EDIT: So it would look something like this...
    #header {
              background-color: #FFF;
              background-image: url(LOGO/CHAIN%20logo%20new%2024.png);
              background-repeat: no-repeat;
              background-position: center center;
              height: 200px;
              width: 100%;
              position: fixed;
              top:0px;
              left:0px;
    #container {
              height: 60px;
              width: 100%;
              margin-right: auto;
              margin-left: auto;
              position: fixed;
              top:100px;
              left:100px;
    #homeLink {
              width: 100%; /* set width to width of background image */
              height: 200px; /* set height to height of background image */
              display: block;
              position: fixed;
             top:10px;
              left:10px;
    Obviously, use the pixel dimensions you need to position everything correctly.

  • CS5: ProRes 4444 Alpha issue rears it head again in a strange way

    So here's a strange one: I've found that if the first frame of a composition is completely opaque (such as using a solid to fade from black) then any QT Movie rendered with ProRes 4444 + Alpha will not include an alpha channel. I've replicated it on multiple machines and triple checked my MediaCoreQTCodecRulesCS5.xml to ensure that it's correct. Here's the steps to recreate this:
    create a new comp (Project bit depth = 16bpc)
    create a new solid with the same dimensions as the comp
    at Frame 0 create a keyframe for the Solid's opacity (Keep it at 100%)
    move down 5 frames in the comp and create a new keyframe by setting the Solid's opacity to 0%
    set the work area to 1 second
    Render a movie using ProRes 4444 RBG+Alpha
    The resulting movie will have no Alpha channel. If you watch the movie being rendered with Caps Lock off and 'Toggle Transparency Grid' active, then you can see the alpha channel while the render is going. If you render using Animation Compression RGB+Alpha, it will be correct. You can also replace the solid with footage as long as the first frame of the rendered comp is completely opaque and the issue is still there. Move the solid or footage down in the time line 1 frame so the first frame of the comp has a transparent alpha channel, then the movie rendered from that will be correct. This has only been tested and confirmed on the Mac and only CS5. If anyone can test and confirm the PC CS5 and Mac & PC CS5.5 it would be greatly appreciated.

    You've found a bug. I'm not sure where the problem is. If I render out an image sequence or an Animation Codec file, then drop it in Media Encoder or Compressor to render a ProRez 444 with alpha channel I occasionally get the bug. You can't tell anything from the Quicktime Player but you can see the error in AE.
    I discovered that if you put one even partially transparent pixel anywhere in the frame the alpha renders perfectly, but as you pointed out, when the first frame or few frames have a 0 alpha value the renders are funky. I just don't know if it's AE's problem, Adobe's problem, or an Apple problem because I can break it in compressor or Media Encoder or I can make it work in either.
    I'd file a bug.

  • Dashboard Link in page Header

    I'm having a hard time displaying a link to a dashboard next to the "My Dashboards" link in the header. A link displays for the Administrator account, I just want it to also display for normal users. The dashboard is saved under a shared folder.
    Shouldn't it just be as easy as adding the user to the Manage Dashboard permissions with Read access? If I add my user as "Read" access to the dashboard, the only way the user can view the dashboard is if they make it their default dashboard since there is no link in the header. The only way I have found to get the link in the head is to add that user to the "Presentation Server Administrators" group. I even tried creating my own group with my user and adding that to the permissions as Full Control with no success.
    My goal is to display a link to my dashboard next to the "My Dashboards" link in the header. I want the dashboard to be read only. Am I missing something?

    As you said directly with read permissions the dashboard link doesnt appear because that is rendered through administartor.
    You have got it when you added to "Presentation Administrator group" i.e because the server side will handle all the possibilities and the permissions on it.
    create your own catalog group again and name it and then after that checkout you have given the right dashboard name and dont leave the dashboard builder empty..Fill it up with Administrator and the user you want to give access then add members to the group and give them the neccessary permissions so that would give them access.
    Hope it helps you.
    Best Wishes,
    Kranthi.

  • Global Navigation: How to add heading as non active link?

    Dear guys,
    I really want to add non active link in global navigation. How it will be done?
    I tried to add heading without any link but it's appearing in current navigation, how can i add it in global (front menu) navigation.
    Please tell me the solution to resolve this problem.
    The basic objective to apply this function is: I have various non constructed pages, but i want to show hirarachi in navigation.
    Br,
    Ayesha

    Click on Modify Navigation -> click on Global Navigation -> Click Add Heading --> Give only title , no need to give the url.
    By the way i think you are also following the same procedure.
    Let me know if you mean something else.

    Hi,
    Try using obtunnel with your bepl console.
    Alternatively, if your server is on unix/ linux, try tcpdump to capture packets to a particular server and then open the file in wireshark to analyse the contents.
    Wish SOA suite would allow us to view this by default!

  • Is there a way to make a "table header" a column instead of a row?

    I am making a 508 compliant pdf from a predesigned indesign document that has many tables in it. The table that I am having problems with doesn't have it's table header as a Row at the top of the table but instead a Column that runs down the left side like this example:
    To be read correctly in the pdf by screen readers the header needs to be included in the table but I don't know how to make a column a header, I have only found the option of making a row a header. Is there a way to do this or will I just have to retag and reorder the tags in the pdf after?
    Thanks!

    @Joel – ah, now I begin to understand.
    Slapbet wants to change the reading order in a two column table from:
    Usually:
    1  2
    3  4
    5  6
    to:
    1  4
    2  5
    3  6
    If so, you need two separate tables:
    One for column 1, one for column 2.
    Grouped together, anchored in a text frame with the flowing text.
    Could the every column is a single table construct work for you?
    Or is it necessary for what ever reason (besides editing) to work with a single table?
    A script could help to split every  column to a single table, making a group and anchor it to the text flow.
    Or did I misunderstand what the problem here is?
    Uwe

  • How to remove header on last page of the report?

    I am working on a RTF template for PO report. This is the format of the rtf i have.

    All header fields
    <?for-each:G_LINES?>

    When I insert a section break for new page, the header that is on my 1st page of the template is repeating. Is there a way that I can stop the header from repeating on the last page? Please help me out with this issue.
    Thanks,
    Swetha

    Thanks jimr for the response. This solved my problem.
    The steps I followed are:
    Click on section2 header. click on 'Link to previous'button on the headers toolbar so the link between section1 and section2 is removed.
    Remove the header on the new page (section2). The header on the 1st page is retained while the header on the 2nd page is removed.
    Thanks,

  • Is there a better way to do this?  CSS rules/Background image/tables

    Hi,
    I am designing a site and I have used a table for the banner.  Everytime a different page is displayed, the banner image changes.  I have created .html pages, and I have created a lot of css rules to change the background image.  I think there must be a more efficiant way to do this?
    http://www.taffyproductions.com/test/
    ALSO... I need to figure out how to make the links (hover/active states) work on all the pages... I figured it out on the index page, but I'm sure there is a better css rule?

    Put a div in the head section?  Surely you jest!
    But you do hint at the easy solution - just have an embedded stylesheet in the head of each page that changed the background image only on that page.  No need for any other complexities.
    In other words on page1, change this -
    <link href="outpost.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    </head>
    to this -
    <link href="outpost.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <style type="text/css">
    table#banner { background-image:url(images/banner1.jpg); }
    </style>
    </head>
    and on page2 change it to this -
    <link href="outpost.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <style type="text/css">
    table#banner { background-image:url(images/banner2.jpg); }
    </style>
    </head>
    etc.
