Headphone device issue

Ok, So I'm using a Macbook pro with Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I am having problems with my computer detecting my headphones. Whenever I plug my headphones into my computer the sound continues to come through the laptop speakers. I've tried 3 different pairs of headphones. They all worked perfectly fine on other devices, but only one gets picked up by my macbook. I took it to the apple store and when one of the geniuses connected their system to my macbook everything worked fine. So he just did a simple install of their system files to my macbook thinking it would get the same results but it is still not picking up all headphone devices. Can anyone help with this?

I too was a huge Sony fan but after buying many really poor Sony products and still singing their praises simply cause they were a Sony I have seen the light and tried another brand. The HTC One has exceptional sound due to its Beats Audio capability and is incredibly loud I actually have to turn it down a notch. The sound from this is fantastic also as are the two Boom Sound external speakers. I am converted!!!
Sony is more consumed in the fact loud music can damage your hearing as the warning likes to tell you on any modern Xperia phone. This should be the users choice and even going beyond this I have found the volume to be average at best. Pity Sony doesnt carry this concern over to producing a water resistant phone such as the Xperia Z that is actually water resistant.

I am on my second zen micro, and guess what? Headphone jack! I was preparing to return it to my local retailer when the ups guy came with my wired remote that I had ordered when I was on my first micro. I decided to try it out just for the hell of it and headphone jack! But wait a minute, what are the odds that the jack on the remote would be defecti've in exactly the same way as the unit itself? Does Malaysia and its many, many solderers have an irrational hatred of headphone jack circuitry no matter what the device? Turns out (at least in my case) no. This is a headphone issue, folks, not a headphone jack issue. What is counter-intuiti've about this is that we all know what headphones do when they fail: either the left or right earbud goes out intermittently in crackly fashion when the wire just above the plug is disturbed, or sometimes just below the earbud itself?the usual wear points. But this failure is different, is it not? There are no crackles. Instead, one channel (not earbud) will fail. In other words, the left channel, for example, will come through both earbuds, so that if you are listening to a Beatles song, you will hear John, Ringo and George playing away, but not Paul singing. But since Paul comes and goes when you wiggle the base of the headphones back and forth in the jack, the assumption is is that the jack is wiggling loose of its contact points. But what really seems to be happening is that an ill-fitting headphone male is wobbling around in its female jack counterpart. I tried two different headphones and was unable to reproduce this failure, while I heard the problem instantly when I plugged my creative headphones into my home stereo.
This brings me back to creative. If I am right, Creative may have dodged a bullet, or maybe the knew this all along and saw fit not to tell us, as is their way. I did, however, purchase a unit that includes headphones? that don?t work. What if instead of me sending back a second unit, I send you a pair of broken headphones and you send me a pair of non-Creative headphones? Or a coupon for something another pair of headphones? Sounds like a win-win, as they say.

Sound on my iPhone 4 , turns really low when I plug in my headphones or a device then turns back to normal when I plug the headphones/device back out , tried turning off , using the troubleshoot turn off and shouting at it please help

The sound on my iPhone is perfect until I plug in speakers or headphones
Then the sound halves and won't turn all the way up, when I do turn it up the
Sound just switches off till I turn it back down low to wear it works ,
When I unplug headphones/device sound returns to normal

Normally, an iPhone will remember what you had your volume set to right before you unplugged your headphones last and set the volume back to that when you plug them in again. Do you have a habit of tuning your volume down before unplugging?

Bluetooth does not work correctly with Siemens Tek Connect headphone device

I hopefully tried the new bluetooth support in OS 3.0, but it does not work with my Siemens Tek Connect headphone device. It syncs as expected, but no sound is heard. I can choose the Tek Connect in the music app and other programs, my headphone (actually my two hearing aids, which are connected wireless with ear to ear communications (e2e) via the Tek Connect necklace device) signals the connection to me (a beep), but nothing is heard. Codec problem?

I own Phonak hearing aids with their Bluetooth-capable iCom device which allows my aids to be used as a phone headset and also supports the A2DP stereo bluetooth profile. My iPod Touch 2Gen 32GB is able to play to my hearing aids properly.
One thing I noticed is that the iPod does not allow you to control the volume when using Bluetooth. It expects the headphones to be able to control the volume. Have you used your hearing aids as Bluetooth headphones on any other device? Maybe the device isn't programmed properly to set the volume while in headphones mode. I know my audiologist had to program the volume on each mode separately on my device.
My MacBook Pro is able to play music over Bluetooth to my hearing aids fine. But I have never gotten Windows to work properly sending audio to my hearing aids. Do you have a Mac with Bluetooth? Try to get that working to see if it's your hearing aid device that's causing the trouble or not.

The first thing to try is changing your DNS settings - and for that you need to open System Preferences, then the
Network section.
In Network - click on Advanced - then the DNS tab
under DNS servers - use the + button to enter two extra lines
either these, from google dns
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
or from OpenDNS
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
then click OK & then 'Apply'
You would need to do that seperately for the Cable (Ethernet) settings and Wireless (Airport)

Sound output device issue - can not choose speakers if phones are plugged in

when I have headphones plugged in, sometimes I dont want to use them for sound, but dont want to disconnect them (I got extra, and iMac is to the wall, hard to take them out without moving whole Mac; so I like having them plugged in constantly)
I dont have the option to choose inbuilt latest iMac speakers when I use ALT+volume icon.
when I alt click sound the only options are
1. headphones, then airplay devices
2. apple tv
3. pioneer VSX 2021K

New MacBook Pro Headphone Jack Issues

Hi, I just got my MacBook Pro barely a week ago and I've noticed an issue when using headphones or external speakers when plugged into the headphone jack. It seems that the computer won't recognize that I have something plugged into the jack, sound just keeps playing through the laptop speakers and not the device connected. I can duplicate this at will:
Play music through headphones plugged into computer, hit pause. Disconnect headphones and play music through laptop speakers, pause music again and connect headphones. Hit play, and the sound continues to play through the laptop speakers and not the headphones... The only way I can remedy this is my restarting my machine (PITA) or by shutting the lid and waking the computer up. (Still a PITA) Is there a fix for this? I'm updated to the most recent version, 10.6.8 . I never had this issue with my old MacBook Pro pre unibody. I've read elsewhere that another solution is to go into System Preferences > Sound and click "Output" and change the setting "use adio port for" from "sound input" to "sound output" I don't even have those settings listed in my Output tab... Please help!

Well, the issue has been resolved. The solution was to reset the SMC/PRAM. I thought about doing this but I didn't think I would need to on a brand new computer . At least its back to working order and I didn't have to be without my machine.

Bluetooth headphones playback issues with iOS 6

Has anyone been experiencing some playback issues with the latest iOS 6 and Bluetooth headphones?
A few weeks ago, I bought a pair of Sony's MDR-1RBT Bluetooth headphones and ever since I updated my iOS devices (4S & iPad 2), playback of tracks has been lagging for the first few seconds. Whenever I choose a song on my iPhone or iPad's player, I just can't hear its first 3~10 seconds. I've contacted Sony about this issue and they bluntly replied that it's Apple's issue, but when I contacted Apple, they referred me to their Bluetooth connectivity site. In other words, my problem still hasn't been solved.
Could anyone help me solve this frustrating issue?

Bose bluetooth headphones pairing issue

I have an iPhone 5 32Gb and an iPad 3 32Gb. I had both running iOS 7.1 and my Bose Bluetooth headphones worked exactly as they should. One of the great features of these is that they can pair to the iPhone and iPad at the same time, meaning that I can watch a video on my iPad and when the iPhone rings, it rings through the headphones and pauses the video.
Since upgrading both devices to iOS 7.1.1, I can only pair to one of them at a time. Let's say that I am paired to my iPad, but now want to use my headphones to listen to music on my iPhone. I now have to go into Bluetooth on my iPhone, have it forget the Bose headphones and then repair. If I want to go back to my iPad, I have to go through the same process for the headphones to work on that device.
Has anyone else come across this issue? From briefly looking at this forum, Apple seems to have made a mess of Bluetooth in this iOS release. Any ideas on a fix?

I actually did both iPhone and iPad tethered to iTunes. I favour doing this instead of OTA. The iPhone was a replacement from Apple and immediately updated through iTunes to iOS 7.1.1.

EliteBook 8460p Headphone balance issues

Hello,
I got that new Elitebook 8460p and I know that both speakers are on the left side of the beast... but when I plug my headphones (which I have test on an other device) I only got sound from the left and nothing from the right. I looked in the sound settings and the balance is equal on 1 and 2. Is it a "built-in" problem, is there something to resolve it or is there something wrong with my laptop.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Stream 13 Notebook and playing sound from headphones. Here is a document on troubleshooting sound.
Please make sure your updates have been done on the Notebook. In the device manager under sound right click and update the driver. Here is another step to try.
1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner by your time.
2. Click Playback Devices.
3. Click Speakers/Headphones.
4. Click Properties.
5. Click the Advanced tab on the Properties window.
6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
7. Apply the properties.
8. Click OK to close the properties window.
9. Click OK to close the Playback Devices.
What browser are you using? I would check to make sure the browser is up to date.
Have you tried a different pair of headphones?

New iMovie '08 problems -- FireWire or new device issues?

Not sure if this is an iMovie '08 problem or an OS X problem. Here's the story --
Prior camcorder was a Panasonic, MiniDV format. Hooks up nicely with iMovie, via FireWire (400). I also have a WD My Book (500 GB) device to store the raw data (Event Library), which connects via FireWire (800). In the past, all three devices (Panasonic, My Book and MacBook Pro) all played nicely together.
Fast forward to now. Bought a new camcorder (problems with the Panasonic). It's a Canon ZR950 (MiniDV). With iMovie running, I first connect the WD device which is successfully mounted. I then hookup the new Canon and within a few seconds I get an error about a "device not cleanly shut down" (or words to that effect). Odd .... and when I try to connect to my new camcorder, I get a "no camera connected" error.
Rebooted, retried .... same issues. Another time I first connected the Canon and this time, iMovie successfully sees it. I go to connect the My Book and then the camcorder drops out.
So, it seems I can have only one FireWire device connected at a time, which is odd since I didn't have this issue with the old Panasonic.
Help!

Interesting that you based your purchase on CR magazine because I too use it like a bible. However, when it comes to video cameras, I think they are way off base when not considering the editing side of video making that goes along with any camcorder. Who shoots video simply to plug it into a TV for playback?? If they were doing responsible reporting on this particular subject, they would also include computer capture and editing details in the reviews. Lots of the new format cams don't even work with Macs and the ones that do generally give lesser quality after conversion than what you can still get with tape. At least you made the right decision there!

an update on my client's situation:
os: server 10.4.11
scsi card: LSILogic Ultra320, 1.3.39.0 firmware
tape: exabyte 1x10 library, vxa172 tape drive
after a reboot, but still running 10.4.10, the tape drive appeared on the SCSI bus.
after installing the 10.4.11 update, the OS can't see the tape drive, but the library is. basically, that's no different than before the update.
does anyone have any ideas on how to scare the drive into reappearing? would unloading/reloading kexts help? the library is basically useless without the tape drive reliably recognized by the SCSI card.

ASA 5510 Remote Access iOS devices issue

I'm having a weird issue that just cropped up in the last week or so. Previously, ipads and iphones were working fine on our IPSec VPN, but now they don't work at all.
The iOS device throws one of two errors:
1. "Negotiation with the VPN server failed." (asks for user and pass first, then gives this error after about 30 seconds)
2. "The VPN server did not repond." (might just be intermittnet 3G network I'm testing over)
If the error is #1, the ASA says this:

I've changed a lot of settings, but I haven't gotten anywhere. I've tried different tunnel groups and connection profiles. This setup works fine on a Windows computer with the Cisco VPN Client (5.0.07). ASA is running 8.2(5), split tunnel, no pfs, group name and psk, tried with and without peer ID validation, NAT-T (udp 500, 4500).
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Portal On Device Issue

Hi All
I am on portal 7.3 ehp1 sp 07.
We are getting ready to go live with a portal on device implementation and I am having a fairly big issue.
I have developed a number of apps using bsp and jquery mobile 1.3.1.
My problem is that the page height is not re-adjusting to the view area.
For example I have a search, list and detail page.
When I go from search, to list, the height re-adjusts i.e. from small page to large list page. The list page is the correct height and it has a scroll bar.
The problem is that when I go from a large list page to a small detail page, the view area remains large, the scroll area does not re-adjust.
If I scroll down and click the last item in the list, the detail page is loaded but the scroll bar on the side remains at the same position and I have to manually scroll to the top of the page. I would expect the scroll bar to dissapear.
In order for me to view the detail page, I have to scroll to the top of the page.
The problem is that the scroll area does not re-adjust to the smaller detail screen and I have to scroll back up to the top to see the details.
I have implemented note 1832376, with no luck. My apps are portal pages with a bsp iview and smartphone layout.
Please, can someone give me some advice on this
I am testing on Iphone and Ipad with ios 7.

Thanks for replying. An upgrade from 7.3 to 7.31 is not a viable solution for us, we are getting ready to go live with this.
I need a workaround.
Any workarounds or portal events that I can call that I will force a portal page to scroll to the top.
I have tried document.scrollto etc from javascript. They work fine when I preview the page in portal but not when incorporated into portal on device.
