Headphone jack doesn't fit in my MBP 2011

My (samsung) headphone doesn't fit in my MBP. This is my first mac, do only mac headphones fit in the MBP or is this a problem off my mac only?
Any suggestions would be more then welcome.

Thx for the reply's. I'm afraid i know the answer to my own question now tho, it looks like the plug isn't mounted straight. Which probably means the entire board is mounted a tiny bit off as it should be.
Bah i hate when this happens.

  • Headphone jack does not fit in iPhone socket

My brand new pair of Bose MIE2 headphones don't fit in the iPhone socket.
This is the original iPhone with the recessed socket.
I purchased these headphones because my old pair of Bose headphones stopped working. They used to be pretty good headphones, and fit perfectly into the iPhone socket. This new model, which is supposed to be for mobile phones, doesn't fit.
I can't return the headphones to the store, as they do not have a return policy. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I could get them to fit into the iPhone?
If I apply a lot of pressure, then the rubber warps a little, and it goes in, and I can hear audio perfectly, but the moment I release the pressure, the audio dissappears as the jack comes out of the socket.

OK,,, I guess I will have to try,, but the way the hole is structured, I am afraid to push too hard, and perhaps have the plastic around the metal rim crack the top of the unit from the stress. Is this a one and only time I have to go through, because I have given it a more than ample push,, and if I have to experience that every time.. I had better go to the Genius bar to find out if I can get one with a more forgiving insert. I will also go to the Rogers store and see if I get the same experience on their demo

  • No sound, stuck on digital audio output, red LED only sometimes, headphone jack doesn't "grab" male end

Borrowing my boyfriend's computer after my own Macbook died, he had given up on the audio on his Macbook Pro as a logic board issue but I think it might be fixable.
System prefs for audio is stuck on digital output. The red LED from the headphone jack only shines sometimes (rarely, actually, but the digital output/no sound persists). No appearance of dust in the jack. What concerns me most is that the headphone male end doesn't "sit right" in the jack: rather than plugging in securely, it pops right back out.
I have a hunch this is similar to that little switch problem a lot of people deal with in the headphone jack, but the fact that the headphones won't plug in seems different. I've tried pulling the jack in and out and wiggling--no sound change, but the LED turns off and on sometimes. Any other ideas? Thank you all.

Possibly create a new user profile to test if it is a software issue. If it still has problems once tested on another profile it is most likely a hardware fault, and the only option is to take it to Apple. Honestly though it sounds more hardware related due to the power outage impacting it's performance instead of a program. Good luck buddy.

  • The metal part of my devices headphone jack ( Iphone 4s ) got removed and now my headphone jack can't fit into my iphone. Help

I was listening to music on my Iphone one day with my beats, while I unplug my headphones the metal part that surrounds the headphone jack of my Iphone also comes out and is lost. None of my headphone jacks can fit into the iphone without it being loose and falling out. Is there anywhere or way I can get this resovled ?

Sure, get the headphone jack replaced. Or do an Out-of-Warranty replacement at your nearest Apple Store for $199 USD.

  • Headphone jack doesn't work in Mac OS X 10.5.6

My headphone jack stopped working on my less-than-30-day-old MacBook Aluminum. Without headphones internal speakers functioned normally. When I plugged in headphones there was no sound. With headphones plugged in System Preferences > Sound indicated that a digital optical cable was plugged. I tested the headphones in another device and they worked. I tried another set of headphones and they don't work. I tested the system with Bootcamp/Vista Home Premium and the headphones worked, so the problem was not the hardware, it must be the OS. I took my Mac to the Apple Store and the Expert says he "cleared the Kernel cache", at which point the headphones jack started working again. I used headphones last night. Tonight, the headphones stopped working again, but, after about an hour, as I am typing this post, I see they have suddenly started functioning again. Now I have to correct all my grammar in this post to indicate past tense. What is wrong with Mac OS X, why do the headphones spontaneously stop functioning, what did the Apple Expert really do, and how do I "clear the Kernal cache" for myself?

  • Headphone Jack doesn't work and internal speakers are stuck in mute.

So I have an 18' macbook pro with a 2GHz Intel Core i7 and running version Mac OS X (10.7.5). I recently dropped my computer off my lap while my headphones were still in. The headphone jack smashed into the computers headphone output jack I took out the headphones and they still work but now no matter what pair of headphones I use I cannot hear anything when plugged in. As well when I take out the headphones the sound output does not switch back to internal speakers but says Digital Out. I know the speakers work because when I was messing the out jack because I read when a red light is on inside the jack (which it goes on and off) means it is stuck in mute. That however has not worked so far and neither has putting in and taking out the headphone jack.

    Hey there Kyleosipad,
I was able to find this nifty Knowledgebase article that gave some insight on how to fix your issue. It looks like an audio setting needs to be adusted:
    1.  Go to the Control Panel.
    2.  Search for "Realtek HD Audio Manager".
    3.  Click Advanced Device Settings.
    4.  Click Multi-stream mode.
    I hope this helps.

  • IMac's headphone jack doesn't respond

I have had external speakers connected to the headphone jack for many months, and recently after a brief power outage at our house, somehow the Mac no longer recognizes the speakers.  Restart didn't solve anything…….Red light is not on in the jack.
When I'm in System Preferences…..Sound……under output it is showing Internal Speakers only.  When I plugged in my external speakers into the headphone jack, I get a brief message "selected device has no output controls".
    In Applications……Utilities…….Audio Midi Setup…….It shows "Built In Output 0 in/2 out" .
I have also check the speakers with my mp3 player and they play fine………also plugged in headphones and same results as with the external speakers.
Any/All help would really be appreciated!!!!!!!!!

  • Headphone Jack doesn't work for all headphones

I don't have apple haeadphones anymore and I realized that not all headphones work on my ipod4. I have to turn my headphones to a certain angle to get them to work all the time. help?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem. However, from your description you have a bad headohone jack.
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Headphone jack doesn't work after replacing housing

Anyone else here have this problem? has anyone talked to RIM about this?

I recently had the same problem. My iPad, bought in November, worked until about a week ago. My wife took it in to Apple and it was replaced immediately. Unfortunately, my new iPad is having the same problem. I've "pounded" my headphones, car jack, home speakers and nothing works. They all work on the iPhone.
I think there's a serious problem with the headphone Jack and we're just now finding it. I see similar responses to the iPad 2. I'm taking mine back into Apple this weekend and proving my point.

  • Headphone Jack Doesn't work in XP Connected to 24" Cinema Display

I am trying to get audio out of my headphone jack when connected to my cinema display and booted into XP (OSX works fine). The audio always routes through the display speakers when booted into Windows XP, even when I plug headphones into my macbook pro's headphone jack. What settings or drivers do I need to enable my headphone jack to work in XP when I have my cinema display connected?

I have the same problem too, but using Windows 7 and Boot Camp V3.1. Headphones work fine if I don't plug in the USB from the Display to the computer.
Additionally, right after installing Windows 7, my Macbook Pro set the audio headset jack to 'optical audio' (with the glowing red LED), which I had to disable manually to get the headphones to work.
To Nick4597, for me, the headphone issue wasn't there in XP, just Win7. Maybe the latest Boot Camp drivers disabled the feature?

  • Brand new 3GS Headphone jack does not fit in the jack hole , anyone else?

I just bought 32gb white 3GS 1 1/2 weeks ago, and I just went into the box to try my earphones for
the first time. I thought I was dreaming,, but I could not get the jack to fit in the hole Even slightly forcing it didn't help. I didn't want to go crazy on pushing it. I decided to take my light case of the phone, just to make sure that the case wasn't getting in the way.. It only goes down about 3/4 way down the hole. I turned on some music,, but obviously the jack is not down enough to make the connection. Has anyone else had this problem? It just doesn't seem to want to fit, and yet it is the brand new one that came with the phone.

• Headphone Jack does not fit into my new Sansa Clip +

Hi, I just bought a new Sansa Clip + so I could listen to my songs while on vacation, but when I put in my headphones 3.5 jack plug into the hole on the side of the mp3 player it  won't go all the way in and falls out if I dont hold it properly. Is that how a Sansa Clip + is ? because I found it very annoying.  I hope that someone can reply fast because I will be on vacation in about a week. And sorry for my english because it is not my native language.

When the player is new the jack is very tight, and it takes a bit of force to get the plug in completely.

Every time when I plug in my headphones they almost fall out, and I just don't know what to do.

Make sure that "Secondary click" is enabled.
Click the  black downward arrow to get the pop-up and pick your choice.
