Health App Gone Awry

I'm using a 64 GB iPhone 6 running iOS 8.2 and starting last week the Health app has gone completely off the rails.
I average somewhere between 6 and 7,000 steps a day (trying to work my way past 10k) but noticed 5 days ago it now shows me walking 30 to 40k, sometimes even more - example this morning I'd been out of bed 20 minutes and had only walked from my bedroom to the kitchen, yet somehow Health thought I'd already walked 18.7 miles before 7 AM.
Is there any way to reset and/or recalibrate? Anyone have any ideas?

You should not be able to delete Heath App. It's part of the built in iOS.
Swipe down from the centre of your home screen to bring up spotlight and search for it with that.
It's probably hidden itself somewhere on another home screen.

    Hi Spudd2,
To start troubleshooting this issue, please go ahead and first force close all of the apps currently running on the device, and then reset it by following the steps in the articles below.
iOS: Force an app to close
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    Take care,

  • Health App Data Source Order With Apple Watch-

I discovered a very large difference between the number of steps counted by Health App and my other step tracking app Pacer.  Pacer was indicating I had 10,000 steps while HealthKit was reporting about 6000 steps.
I then realized this was happening because of the order my data sources were for steps.  The order was:
    Apple Watch
    iPhone
The problem is, the Apple watch does not track cycling as steps while the iPhone does.  Because of this, when the Apple Watch is first in the data source list for steps it doesn’t count those cycling “steps”.  I find this odd since Health App should be smart enough to merge the results; if the watch is reporting no steps and the iPhone is reporting 4000 steps, it should add the iPhone’s steps to the total.
But, if I go in and change the priority order to:
    iPhone
    Apple Watch
then, HealthKit reports the correct 10,000 steps.
The strange thing is, if I’m not carrying my iPhone and have my watch on, HealthKit does properly merge the watch's steps into Health App even though the Apple Watch is second on the priority list.
I’m  not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but it’s important to make sure your data sources are in the correct order.  I’ve gone in and made sure my iPhone is in the first position on all my stats.

Today I did a full restore thanks to this post Health app has crashed, data gone. and some spare time to sit down and do it.
After re-adding the apps to share their data the Health app appears to be working as it was before for me. Hope this helps.

  • Health App completely buggy?

On iPhone 6, I thought Health App would record certain kinds of data and pull in other data from other apps and devices.
I first connected to the Jawbone UP, and both apps stopped working. They hung, crashed, didn't track data. Disaster.
I disconnected the two apps, and each did its own thing.
Then I noticed that the Health App stopped tracking "Flights Climbed". One day, I climbed up a hill, and it said it was equivalent of 9 stories. That made sense. Another day on the same route, 0, flights.
I went to Genius Bar and was told the HealthKit is broken. The app was released before ready.
    What's the real deal?

I take it you have already gone into the Health app and set up your Medical ID card, correct?
The Medical ID card will show up on the Lock Screen password entry screen when Emergency option on the bottom left-hand side of the screen is clicked.
It does not show up anywhere if you do not have a passcode lock on the screen.
    Cheers,

  • No Health data through Health app, iOS 8.3

The Health app is unable to access or display my health data. Normally the health app is shown as a source, but it is not now (below). Even if I manually add a data point (e.g. 10 steps walked) it does not display it. It is, however still receiving and storing the data, as my other apps can see how many steps I have walked. It does not matter which category the data is in. I have re-installed the system multiple times.

It's a pain but I managed to fix this today:
1 - Open iTunes and backup your iPhone
-- The key is to make sure "encrypted backup" is turned OFF. Apparently Health data is not saved in unencrypted backups.
    2 - Restore your phone
3 - Restore the backup from iTunes
Result - You now can store NEW Health data. Previous Health data is gone, but at least going forward it will work. Note this will not work from an iCloud backup because those are encrypted.

  • Health app on iPhone 6 is dead

For the last two days the health app on my iPhone 6 has been displaying Steps, walking + running distance, and flights climbed as expected but now all of the data is gone and no new data is being displayed. I have tried rebooting my iPhone 6 a number of times but it has not helped. The health app is now totally dead.
    Any help?

After discussing the issue with Apple support I have restored my iPhone 6 again which seems to have corrected this issue.

  • Apple Health app

I deleted the Apple Health app but would like to reinstate.  Can't find it in itunes store.  Can anyone tell me how to download it again and where from?

Given that it is a part of iOS, it is not available on the App Store. If you did manage to delete it, the most simple way to get it back would be to restore iOS on your phone. Make an iCloud or iTunes backup  and restore iOS on your phone. Then restore the backup. However,  before you do this I would advise ensuring that you have actually deleted the app. Unless you have jailbroken your phone, there is no known way to remove the app. To ensure it is really gone, pull them from the home screen and search for it in spotlight.

  • Health App Stats Resetting Each Day

I got the iPhone 6 the day it was released.  I immediately started using the new Health app.  I added the basics, birthday, age, sex, weight, and I added the "Steps" and "Walking + Running Distance" to the dashbaord.  I notice they automatically started tracking my steps.  So I went for a jog, it tracked that also.  Awesome, so far so good.  But the next day it was all gone.  It doesn't matter if I select "Day / Week / Month / Year" at the top top, the stats are always the same, the only show the current day.  I've checked each day since I've got the phone, each day it seems to start over.  Why is all the previous data disappearing?  Thanks!

  • Health App tracking issue

Since the latest update to the Apple Health App.  My daily calories burned no longer tracks properly on the dashboard graph.  It will show what's loaded from other apps and manually enter correctly for the current day, but prior days are gone.  This has happened every day since the last update.  All the other information like step, distance ran, etc are still tracking correctly.  Is this a common issue with the update?  or this their something I can do to correct the problem?

  • Health app not saving data

when I enter my data on the built in health app it doesn't save let it use to. I would enter my information close it and reopen it and everything will be gone.. Does anyone else have this problem

    EdHDC,
I'm sorry that I don't have a fix for your issue, but I did want to mention that if you end up in a scenario where you get things working and find that you have data prior to your fix that doesn't automatically get imported in, we have released an app specifically for importing data into HealthKit / Health App.  It requires data in a CSV (comma separated value) format currently, but that is the format that most apps provide for their exported files.
The app is called Health Importer and more information is available on the App Store at:  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/health-importer/id930943780?ls=1&mt=8
Hope it's a helpful tool for you or others who come across the post!

  • Health App not collecting data

I have a iPhone 6 and for the first three weeks the Health app worked just great. Now since about one week it doesn't seem to collect any data anymore. The dashboard just shows no data on steps, distance and stairs. Also all historical data is gone. I also have Fjuul and Withing apps, which both are counting steps like before so obviously there is nothing mechanically wrong with the movement processor. Any ideas what to do to get the Health app up and running again? Naturally I have rebooted the phone several times so that doesn't help.

  • Health app not showing heart rate data?

The built-in Health app is not showing data from my heart rate monitor (HRM).
I'm using a bluetooth 4.0 HRM (Wahoo Blue HR) on my iPhone 5S (iOS 8.3) The HRM shows as "Connected" in my Bluetooth settings and shows my heart rate within the Digifit and Wahoo Utility apps, so I know the HRM is working correctly. I've enabled Heart Rate Read/Write data for the Digifit and Nike+ Running apps within the Health app.
The heart rate data never shows up in the Health app's Dashboard (or anywhere else in the Health app). Since it doesn't show up in the Dashboard, the data doesn't flow over to the Nike+ Running app, so my heart rate is blank there too. The Digifit app is set to write the heart rate data in the Health app, but that is not happening.
How can I get the Health app to receive my HRM data?

I take it you have already gone into the Health app and set up your Medical ID card, correct?
The Medical ID card will show up on the Lock Screen password entry screen when Emergency option on the bottom left-hand side of the screen is clicked.

  • Health App not working (receiving/retaining/displaying) data.

    Hi,
I am using MyFitnessPal and MapMyRun or Strava to send data to the Health App.
The data was not going to the Health App when I looked.
I found that when I did a hard reset yesterday the data appeared.
It was gone in the morning however.
After trying another hard reset the data has NOT re-appeared.
    Is my data lost?
    Is there a bug here?
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks.

Hi I am using MyFitnessPal and Strava, I have noticed this very same problem, There is another thread looking into this, with a suggestion that a hard reset may correct it. In my experience that didn't work.
From what I can tell the data , ie Steps , flight climbed is still logged and available as I have noticed mine coming and going over the past few days. (almost as things a written to Health App).
I think it is going to require a software update to fix, either Apple or the App causing the problem.
