Heap is a problem

Well, I get this error about java heap space everytime I run my server and it closes it my run.bat looks like this
@echo off
java -Xmx100M server
pause
Should i edit anything to fix it?

  • Java heap space error occured during message mapping of FILE to IDOC

    hello Friends,
I am trying to do the message mapping for File to Idoc scenario.
Idoc which I am using is HRMD_A.HRMD_A06 and infotype which I want to update is 14. I am trying to map the message type which I hav created for infotype 14 with the IDOC
Its very simple scenerio but  every time I try to save the mapping before activating it I get an error:
    Java heap space
    Internal problem occurred (INTERNAL_PROBLEM)
    Java heap space.
I am not able to figure out what possibly is the problem wheather its from my end or the BASIS end.
    Kindly help.
    Regards,
    Lokesh

As the server probably survives (you restart your Integration Builder and can probably connect immediately), the problem will be on your side (client). Did you add one or more large xml-test-instances to the mapping ? If yes, delete them, because they lower the performance and can make problems. If not, then this is a strange problem. Even if the Idoc structure is complex, the mapping object itself cannot be that large. Is this problem only with this one mapping ?

  • How to prevent heap zone errors in iMovie'11

How to prevent heap zone errors before or during a new iMovie11 project

I read the discussion and sounds somewhat similar to how I fixed my heap zone error problem a year ago.  I was trying to be proactive before starting my next large project to see if additional info is available.
Info on last year's project and how I corrected it: 40 min project for export to iDVD. OSX Lion, All updates installed, MACMINI lots of free HD space. I tried MANYsuggested discussion fixes available at that time, without success. Finally adopted an approach similar to that in you discussion.  Step 1: removed the latest content until an export version worked; Step 2 -  added a few minutes of content; Step 3 - exported until heap zone error reappeared; Step 4 -  repeated steps 1-3 more than 30 times until able to export the entire project without the heap zone error. A tedious process but it worked. (Note: I was new to Apple and not using Time Machine)

  • Can create 52 publication, but creating 53rd leads to problems

    Hello,
My apologies in advance for a long post, but I was really trying to make sure I do my due diligence before turning to the community for help, so here it goes.
I am working on a proof of concept with the purpose of using transactional replication to maintain a "reporting" copy of our databases.
The setup will include a "Publisher" server and a separate "Subscriber" server.  The replication will be a "Pull" transactional replication with a distributor running on the Subscriber server. Once again: Publisher =>
    pull => (Distributor + Subscriber)
We expect to have a lot of databases on each of our servers, so, in order to mimic this scenario, I restored 100 databases (about 1 GB each) on
the publisher.  All of the databases are identical.
I wrote a script, which enables me to setup replication in an automated fashion (since obviously I don't want to do it manually dozens of times).
The script performs the following steps:
    1. Enable replication for a database (if not enabled already):
    2. Create logreader agent for a database
    3. Create publication for a database (if doesn't exist)
    4. Create snapshot agent for a database (don't run it yet)
    5. Add articles to the publication
    6. Run snapshot agent job (and wait for it to finish)
    7. Create subscription database (if it doesn't exist)
    8. Add subscription in the subscription database (if it doesn't exist)
    9. Create distribution agent
I am able to successfully setup replication for about 52 of my databases and everything is running fine.
When I get to #53 things start to go wrong.  The snapshot creation is successful, but the logreader and the distribution agents fail.  Moving on to #54 everything is now completely broken.  The snapshot does not get created and none of the agents
are running.  I have carefully reviewed replication monitor and SQL Agent jobs looking for error messages, but didn't find anything helpful.  The replication monitor simply says: "Agent Shutdown.
For more information see the SQL Server Agent job history for job ‘….correct job name here…’".
In the details it says: "The replication agent encountered a failure.
See the previous job step history message or Replication Monitor for more information".
Next I go to the SQL Agent Jobs and review the output.
In the job history the failed step says: "Message : The replication agent encountered a failure. See the previous job step history message or Replication Monitor for more information".
In turn, the previous step has no info at all.
Just the word “Message” with nothing after that.  I have also reviewed the windows application log for any errors, but it simply repeats the same messages I see in the replication monitor and agent job history.
I added “–output” parameter to the agent command (in the job step properties) hoping that the output file would provide me with more information, but no output file gets created, which leads me to believe that the agents don’t even start.
I was thinking that I might have hit some hardware limit, so I checked the disk space and there is plenty of it available.  I have also checked RAM and it's not even 50%
    used.
Finally, what really gets me is that I am able to run all of the agents manually from the command line.
For example, I can copy paste parameters from the SQL Agent snapshot job and run snapshot.exe from the command line with these parameters – the snapshot gets created successfully.
The same goes for logreader and distribution agents.
I am completely confused here and appreciate any pointers in the right direction.
Final note (and maybe the only silver lining): The problem is fully re-producible.
I can successfully setup my 50+ subscription and then the issues will always start around subscription number 52-53.
    Thank you!

Answering my own question here.  The solution was given to me by Brandon Williams of http://www.sqlrepl.com.  I was hitting a Windows limitation related to the use of "desktop heap".  The problem is described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949296
and the work-around is given here: support.microsoft.com/kb/824422.
Note that while the KB articles refers to WindowsNT and SQL Server 7.0/2000, it certainly applies to the latest versions as well. In my case I am running Windows 2008R2 Server and SQL Server 2012

  • 6233 Crashing problem

Hi i just bought my phone yesterday and already iv had a heap of rebooting problems.
A few times my fone has like froze and sort of reset, usually happens when i go through menus really fast and the the mem card menu.
Also you no that tone you get like the keypad tone when you go through options and stuff? Well a few times it has like made a real bad hissing or distorting noise and there is no sound, just the hissing and like everything works but when i try to call someone all i can hear is the distorting noise. When i move the menue to the soundcard while its on the dostorting noise the phone crashes and resets and all is better. When i turn the phone off and on it also fixs up.
    This happened to anyone?

So did you get the same problem as me?
Funny thing is i read up so much on this phone and all i heard was good things, also my friend has one and no problems.
But when i get its just my luck that i have to get a dogy batch

  • Heap Exhaustion Exception for One-to-One Unidirectional

Using Glassfish 2.1 with TopLink, EJB3 and JPA in WinXP SP2 environment. Am observing heap exhaustion exceptions apparently whenever an entity references a different entity via a one-to-one unidirectional relation.
Have resolved two heap exhaustion exception problems but have one more remaining.
The first heap exhaustion problem occurred when entity "A" declared a one-to-many relationship with entity "B", and entity "B" declared a many-to-one relationship with entity "A". But entity "A" also erroneously declared a one-to-one unidirectional relationship with entity "B". As soon as entity "A" had an entity "B" inserted into it, a heap exhaustion exception occurred when entity "A" was serialized in a return statement. As soon as the erroneous one-to-one unidirectional relationship was removed from entity "A", the heap exhaustion exceptions ceased.
The second heap exhaustion problem occurred when the same entity "A" mistakenly declared a one-to-one unidirectional relationship with entity "C", and entity "C" correctly declared a many-to-one relationship with entity "A". Once again as soon as entity "A" had an entity "C" inserted into it, a heap exhaustion exception occurred when entity "A" was serialized in a return statement. As soon as the erroneous one-to-one was corrected to a one-to-many, the heap exhaustion exceptions ceased.
But the third heap exhaustion problem occurs when the same entity "A" correctly declares a one-to-one unidirectional relationship with entity "D". As soon as entity "A" has an entity "D" inserted into it, a heap exhaustion exception occurs when entity "A" is serialized in a return statement. I cannot "fix" this as I did in the two above cases because this time the one-to-one unidirectional relationship is correct.
Have one-to-one bidirectional relationships as well as one-to-many / many-to-one that do not trigger heap exhaustion exceptions when serialized in a return statement.
Here is the Java code that declares the problem one-to-one bidirectional relationship in entity "A":
    @OneToOne(cascade={CascadeType.MERGE, CascadeType.PERSIST, CascadeType.REFRESH }, optional=true, fetch=FetchType.LAZY)
    @JoinColumn(name="fk_asset_type_id", referencedColumnName="asset_type_id", updatable=false)
    public AssetType getAssetType() {
    return this.assetType;
    public void setAssetType(AssetType assetType) {
    this.assetType = assetType;
Here is the SQL used to generate the table associated with entities "D" and "A":

Have been batting this issue around on the Manning Panda forum. Consensus there is that the problem may be TopLink related. Would be most grateful for any suggestions. The easy way out would be to change the one-to-one unidirectional to bidirectional but don't want to do that unless there is no alternative. Thanks.

Looking at the stack trace (found in your post on the GlassFish forum) it appears to be an issue with corba serialization in the container. I found this bug, https://glassfish.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2693 in which the stack looks almost identical to yours.
The only way that I think TopLink could be involved is that TopLink is weaving your code, and potentially so is corba. You can try turning off weaving to see if that 'solves' your problem. (Note: I am not confidant that this will work, but I notice that the corba stack may be doing some weaving of it's own.)
The persistence unit property is toplink.weaving. Setting it to false will turn off TopLink weaving.
    <property name="toplink.weaving" value="false"/>

  • Does Keynote 6.0 no longer support Transparent GIF or Quicktime Animations?

    Moving on...
At my company, we create images, animations, video backgrounds and templates for PowerPoint and Keynote etc.  Keynote '09 (iwork '09) and PowerPoint 2008 and 2011 on the Mac, all work.  Now we're hearing that the transparent backgrounds are no longer being recognized (black background instead of clear).  Is anyone able to check this for me and let me know if there is a workaround or something? I can't find any documentation on how Quicktime changed with Maverick or Keynote 6, so need to do real world testing I'm only running '09 on my Mac and won't have Keynote 6 for another 2 weeks or so.
Please let me know, I may be able to throw in a free subscription to our website for someone who can help me with this.

Hello all... I'm maybe a little late to the party here, but I've had the same trouble for a while with both animated Transparent gifs and quicktime movies with an alpha channel matte.
This morning I spent half an hour tinkering with the export options from quicktime player pro on my old laptop (I used QT 7.6.6 on OSX 10.8.5) and managed to make a "transparent" quicktime movie which plays in the new version of Keynote.
If you have access to the old version of quicktime player pro, you can open your transparent, previously playable file (.gif or .movie) and use the ProRes compressor, using the "4444" option in the list of compressors. Make sure the colours are set to "millions+" to retain the matte and you shoud be OK.
It works a charm... you have to re-import it, simply replacing the original file in the finder seemingly doesn't work, but you can use this method to generate a working version and take 30 seconds to re-import it into the keynote.
Yes, the files are much larger than gifs. Yes it's a lot of messing around if you're not familiar with movies. But in principle it worked for me and sorted out a whole heap of my problems.
Just for note, I've not tried exporting it to Powerpoint as I've no need to do so, or way to test it, but I guess that is a different matter.
    Hope that makes sense!

  • Installation Of Oracle 8.1.5 on Win2k machine

    Hi,
I am installing Oracle 8.1.5 on a Win2k machine. The configuration of which is as under:
    1> IBM X360.
    2> iNTEL fOSTER xEON 1.5GHz
    3> Dual Processor
    4> 512KB Cache
    5> 36GB * 3 HDD(RAID5)
    6> Windows 2000 Advance Server.
While doing a typical installation, the installation after reaching 85% of the installation it throws an error as below:
    ORA-04031:unable to allocate 81968560 bytes of shared memory("shared pool","unknown object","sga heap",db_block_buffers")
The problem was later solved by going for custom installation & giving a smaller sga size i.e. a smaller shared pool size & db_block_buffers.
My question is why the above mentioned error occurred when doing a typical installation on a totally new fresh server? & why after going for a custom installation with lesser SGA Size it worked?
    Thanking you.

  • Tenured messgaes in GC logs after upgrading to jdk1.4.2_13

our application is BEA weblogic 8.1 sp4 on solaris box, initially we were getting OOM errors but after upgrading our JVM and resizing Heap settings we are done away with OOM errors.
But in GC logs we are getting Tenured messages.
    My Heap settings :

Is there anything that we can be used to tweak our heap settings ??

Well, you told the JVM to use
    256m permspace: -XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
    1536m total heap: -Xms1536m -Xmx1536m
(although the GC log says 1485504K)
    of which
    512m new space: -XX:NewSize=512m -XX:MaxNewSize=512m
the rest is tenured space: 1024m
(here the GC log agrees saying 1048576K).
Of the 512m new space, the two survivor spaces each take 1/6 of new space giving
    85m: -XX:SurvivorRatio=4
the rest of new space is eden: 340m
    However the GC log says
    eden: 436928K
which leaves 88m to be split between the two survivor spaces
    matching -XX:SurvivorRatio=10
It looks like the GC logs totals do not include the survivor spaces as part of the heap
(not a problem as long as you know this)
    and new space occupancy after GC is being mis-reported.261555.189: [GC 261555.189: [DefNew: 382586K->382586K(436928K), 0.0000436 secs]261555.189: [Tenured: 668801K->538076K(1048576K), 11.3593778 secs] 1051387K->538076K(1485504K), 11.3597008 secs]

  • How to support 30+ clients using weblogic5.1 with hpux11.0

    Hi,all
I am using weblogic 5.1 in hp ux 11.0, and we are doing stress test ,
    with
little numbers (<20)clients, it can work properly, but when the client number
increase to nearly 30, the speed is very
    slow,and then weblogic server hangs.
we are using java t3 client ,and some session beans running in welogic
server to do some simple query.
    the environment is :
    hpux 11.0,weblogic5.1 with sp6,
    jdk1.2.2_02, oracle database 805,
    weblogic oci driver .
    executeThreadCount=60.
    connection pool is min=20,max=100
    performance pack is used.
the machine is a T280 with 512M ram,
we are using min 320,max 384 for heap
    size.
    the problem:
    1.weblogic hangs as decriped before.
    2.the message in weblogic.log.

    Hi,all
I am using weblogic 5.1 in hp ux 11.0, and we are doing stress test ,
    with
little numbers (<20)clients, it can work properly, but when the client number
increase to nearly 30, the speed is very
    slow,and then weblogic server hangs.
we are using java t3 client ,and some session beans running in welogic
server to do some simple query.
    the environment is :
    hpux 11.0,weblogic5.1 with sp6,
    jdk1.2.2_02, oracle database 805,
    weblogic oci driver .
    executeThreadCount=60.
    connection pool is min=20,max=100
    performance pack is used.
the machine is a T280 with 512M ram,
we are using min 320,max 384 for heap
    size.
    the problem:
    1.weblogic hangs as decriped before.
    2.the message in weblogic.log.

  • Unable to create the virtual machine. The error was -4

I have a VS2003 C# application, which call JACE (a JNI wrapper) through C++ mixed mode to use JAVA objects functions.
Because the natural of our JAVA program it must be able to reach maximum heap size of 512MB, we set it during the startup of JVM by using -Xmx512M parameter.
It worked well with a small PC (Dell Optiplex GX750 and Shuttle Xpc ) with only 512MB physical memory. We have about 50 machines running the application in the production.
Recently, one of our customers installs the application to a larger PC ( Shuttle Xpc with different model), which has 1 GB of physical memory. The application started throw exception from JVM. The error message is Unable to create the virtual machine. The error was -4. I checked with JNI return code and found that -4 mean not enough memory.
I did some experiment by running the application with 2GB PC, 1 GB PC, 1GB laptop, 512MB PC. I dont found relationship between how much maximum heap size can be assigned and how much physical memory is available (reading from task manager). The 2GB machine can take only 128MB of maximum heap size However, 1GB machine can take up to 300MB of maximum heap size.
I also use program like ImageJ (http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/) to test maximum heap size for it. I found that ImageJ can take 512MB maximum heap size without problem. It can even take 1024MB of maximum heap size.
I have created a small program to duplicate this problem. Although it use exact the same code to start JVM up, it can go up to 650MB heap size for both 2GB and 1GB PC.
This is puzzling. Does anyone know what are factors determine how much maximum heap size can be set for JVM from JNI?
    Software used
    Windows XP SP2
Visual studio.net 2003 SP1 (the problem also occurred without SP1)
    .NET Framework 1.1 SP1
    JACE 1.1rc1_05
JRE 1.5.07 (also tested with JRE 1.5.09 and 1.6.0 beta)

Do you resolve the problem? If so what was the fix?
I have been getting the Java Virtual Machine Launcher error message “Could not create the virtual machine” when attempting to run an Oracle application that uses JNLP via a browser. Even clicking on componets such as javaw.exe produces the error message. In conjunction with receiving the error message, the application that I am working with will not launch.
I had JRE 5u10 and J2RE 1.4.2u13 installed and thought that installing JDK 5u17 may resolve the issue. I removed JRE 5u10 and J2RE 1.4.2u13 and installed JDK 5u17 (and the included JRE 5u17.) The error message was still there.
I have unistalled (via Add/Remove programs) and reinstalled (via both Win off-line and on-line) JDK 5u17 and JRE 5u17 many times.
During the uninstalls I have received a Java Web Start 1.5.0_17 bad installation – error invoking JVM error message.
I have restarted the machine also.
There are some remains of J2RE 1.4.2u13 still on the machine –even after the 1.4.2u13 uninstall. The Java\j2re1.4.2_13\lib folder remains.
    I am running Win XP SP2 and IE6 SP2.
Note: I cannot use Java 6 since the application that I am working with is Java 5 based.

  • Wls 6.1 sp2 crashes

Our server is crashing without a trace. There is no error in weblogic.log. No error in application log. Is there any suggestion as to how to capture some more information at run time? Would I be able to force a thread dump is the server is crashing? Thanks.

What platform is it on? How repeatable/reproducible is the problem? What
version of the JVM are you running on.
Without knowing the above, I would turn on verbosegc - at least, you will
see if heap was a problem (outOfMemory exceptions etc).
Did the outage create a core file (check ulimit -c) to see if you can create
    a core file.
If you are on a really old JVM, you might want to consider moving up.

  • Old 8i Pro C applications against XE

I have an old c++ application that is complied using the 8i Pro C compiler.
The database this connects to I have successfully ported to XE.
The application fails when running against XE.
I cannot see any mention of Pro C support in XE.
Can anybody point me in the right direction.

    Antony,
this problem seems to appear already when connecting against an Oracle 9i instance.
I have found the following note on Metalink: 8i AND 9i INTEROPERABILITY PROBLEMS WITH PROC PROGRAMS ( https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:3:8140580679946174009::::p3_database_id,p3_docid,p3_show_header,p3_show_help,p3_black_frame,p3_font:NOT,160536.1,1,1,1,helvetica)
The suggested workaround for you would be:
===> WORKAROUND FOR 8i CLIENTS RUNNING AGAINST 9i SERVER
For 'HEAP ERROR 17177' problem, recompiling the program with PREFETCH=0 option
problem disappears. But this is not accepted by some customers due to performance affect.
    make -f demo_proc.mk build EXE=sample10 OBJS=sample10.o PROCFLAGS="PREFETCH=0"
    or
Apply patchset 8.1.7.3 in client code
I would rather apply the latest patch, i.e. 8.1.7.4.
    Hope that helps,
    ~Dietmar.

  • OutOfMemoryError and configuring JNLP

    Hello,
I have problem on configuring heap sizes for my applet when using Java Web Start.
If I start my applet by using appletviewer (appletviewer -J-mx64M -J-ms64M start.html) it works.
For Webstart jnlp-file I have tried various settings, for example:
    1) <j2se version="1.3+" initial-heap-size="64m" max-heap-size="256m"/>
    2) <j2se version="1.3+" initial-heap-size="64m" max-heap-size="64m"/>
    3) <j2se version="1.3+"/>
    4) <j2se version="1.3+" initial-heap-size="128000000" max-heap-size="256000000"/>
    (and without + after 1.3)
And so on, but everything leads to the same result: when applet is loaded and started output is before nothing is shown: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError <<no stack trace available>>
I have cleared webstart cache (remove the installed jar) every time before testing on new settings.
    Background information:
    - Java Webstart version: 1.0.1_01 (build b04)
    - Java compiler version: 1.3.0 (build 1.3.0-C)
    - Client configuration: Windows 2000, 512MB RAM (176MB available before test)
I have signed the jar and the download process goes just fine but when applet starts this error occurs. I even changed my applet to application but the result was the same.
Does anyone have ideas what i'm doing wrong?
    Thank you for your answers.
    Regards,
    - Tapio

I solved the problem! It had nothing to do with heap sizes. Problem was in loading images. The system which I used failed when using the webstart (it worked on appletviewer) and caused out of memory error (maybe something went to infinite loop?). This topic helped me to the right direction -> http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=38&thread=71484
    Thank's anyway for comments!
