The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

So.. You need to contact the carrier for the iPhone's original sim card, and request they unlock it. The carrier is the only one that can unlock the sim of the iPhone.

I have been trying to call Verizon Wireless, but they won’t take my call from my Skype account and I don’t have my phone.

IPhone 5 activation without SIM - and absolutely need to set the phone before acquiring SIM

I bought the phone from the Apple Store a few days ago and I'm leaving for Europe in a few days for 4 months. I do not intend to change my existing "simple" phone service with Telus (Samsung Rugged II) right now before leaving, I intend to buy the service in Europe. The place I'll spend most time has only 3 G and I know that the LTE with my phone has Band 4 and 7 and can' work on European LTE's and that's the reason I decided to buy Americas phone as I will probably change my existing service with Telus when I return back. I want activate my iPhone and set my phone using wifi before I leave for Europe (mid June). I have the Apple store valid account (I have iPad) and I have the Apple store receipt for the unlocked iPhone. When I return I may decide to change my existing cell contract but that may be 6 months down the line and, as I paid for the phone and the phone is unlocked ( I did not get any nano SIM in the package), I need to get through the activation without SIM. ------- Can Apple store setup service do the activation for me -------?

I'm not using the phone that much in Canada, Ipad I have has cell connection as well and that's quite OK in NA plus the regular (unlocked) cell and when I go outdoors, I need Rugged waterproof and shockproof device, plus the Magellan GPS. It's only in Europe I want to carry small device I can use Skype, email, Internet browsing plus my unlocked Samsung Rugged ... That's the reason I need iPhone activate and set up ahead of my trip ... And I don't want to pay for service here when I will not use it for some time (perhaps never on the regular basis, just travels).
I believe that they want to confirm your identity and prevent theft but my registration through wifi and my Apple id should be sufficient together with receipt ...

I had this behavior for the first time with iPhone 3G and today with iPhone 4.
On iPhone 3G I was able to logon after a whole day. Strange?
Today same happens to me with iPhone 4.
The right pin does not work. Switch off does not help.
I don`t know, are there any regional settings link in keyboard which are not show in the display.
Is this a now bug, a hack .. ?

When I checked the support site for Romania, you apparently don't have an Apple Care contact center. You "may" try calling the US Apple care number to verify the account and have the password reset sent to a different email address. 800-694-7466

That's going to be a ridiculous waste of money and energy.
First of all, the current ATI drivers don't support multiple GPUs, so at the moment even a single 4870X2 would be only a 'normal' 4870 (which is quite a speed beast already). GFX drivers evolve rapidly, so things might look different next month, but when it comes to Linux and hardware there's one Golden Rule: stay away from the newest stuff and wait for proper support to get coded.
I also wonder what power supply could possibly cope with the differences between idle and full load; that's way beyond 400W. But then, I'm one of those "quiet&green" types where >100W idle is already a bit much.
I kind of understand that you want to get it done and not worry about hardware for the next 10 years or so, but that's simply not how the hardware world works and never did. At least not for the average consumer.

I bought a used Iphone 3GS that was an AT&T phone and I was planning to use it with Consumer Cellular who said that I wouldn't need to unlock the phone to use their service. When the phone arrived it worked fine, I didn't have to go through any activation, it just went straight to the home screen. After inserting a SIM card and calling to activate it, the phone continued to work and I was able to text/make calls. Then it said it needed to be updated so I plugged it into itunes and let it be; when I checked on it it had restored itself and now I can no longer get into the phone. All I get is the activating phone screen and it won't recognize my SIM anymore. I bought a new SIM to see if that was the problem..still won't work. Why would it work one minute than just stop? Does this mean that I do infact have to unlock the phone to use it with my new service??

The used iPhone you purchased was apparently jailbroken to unlock it, and restoring iOS removed that jailbreak and your iPhone locked back to AT&T. Only AT&T can unlock it, assuming that the jailbreak hasn't rendered that now impossible as can happen. Here are AT&T's official requirements and procedure for unlocking an iPhone:

You do realize that the SIM only contains account information for your wireless account.
Moving the SIM from phone to phone does not cause any of your iTunes content, contacts, email, etc to magically appear on the device.

Do you just want to delete the music or wipe the whole phone since you've switched to the other one?
If you plug the old iPhone into your computer you can remove stuff via iTunes or remove stuff directly from the iPhone too.

Yes you can install your current sim into the mini iPad. You have to cut the current sim to the nano sim. There are cutter available on eBay and amazon. You go to your local best-buy. They have it for sale. Just be carefully to align properly or else you will end damaging your current sim. Any little damage to the current sim will render it unusable.
