HELP!! Application Component Export Failing!

We're running 3.0.9 on Sun Solaris 5.8.
There is an application component (Form On Table) that will not export.
The oddest part is, while on a Windows platform (win2k, running IE 5.5, 6.0, NS4.5, 4.7 and 6), the form fails to completely display when attempting to edit the form. Several Javascript errors are present. Then the form is locked, and has to be manually unlocked through the portal.
Under win2k, the application component will not export, either. I'll just get a "Unable to Display Page" error.
Here's the weird part. Sitting at another Sun Solaris 5.8 box across the country, running Netscape, the form is editable. BUT, the form will NOT export. The export runs for awile, then an error returns "This document contains no data".
Hence, no export.
Since we're trying to migrate to the customer's hardware, this is presenting a VERY big problem.
I would way, way rather export/import the form than create from scratch due to the large amounts of data field formatting (there's like 150 fields), large amounts of Javascript and PL/SQL in the form.
So, any help in exporting this form would be GREATLY appreciated.

We'll work on that.
BUT, for some good news, the export from the Sun 5.8 box DOES work... I was watching the processes, and as soon as the rather large export starts, there's an Oracle process that soon ramps up to like 95% cpu usage. The web browser times out, but the process keeps going. About 2-3 minutes later, the process ends on its own.
So, I exported a LOV just to get the SQL file number, and tried to get the export with one number less, and BINGO! A working export.
We were also unable to export entire applications, and doing it that way works as well...just wait for the process to end, and bingo!
Anyway, hope this helps someone else, and we'll look into that patch, too.

i'm very new to oracle and am trying to get going with xe. i'm working between work and home and want to be able to transport wherever i'm at to work/home - so i thought the application import/export function would be the best way? first of all, is it?
if so - i keep getting the

i'm running the same versions of oracle, on the same platforms (Application Express 2.1.0.00.39, winXPpro all service packed up). both my users have dba roles and the apps work fine on the machines i created them on. the import and install processes claim to be successful and the error only comes up when i try to log in to the application. any ideas?
btw - the apps are just simple tests, dependences etc with a couple rows in each table]
any help be much appreciated even if its "go read this!" as i've googled away & got not much....

Your problem is likely that in your office you do not have the tables required by your program. The export does not include your tables. You have to create them yourselves

Data Source and Application Component

Dear Experts,
I am a beginner of BI and I create a Data Source but I forgot to create an "Application Component" beforehand.
Now I create an "Application Component" individually and trying to drug my "Data Source" to the "Application Component", but failed. It is said that a drug and drop will be ok but I found it is not working.
So my question is:
How to put the Data Source under the "Application Component" ?

Help while creating application component

While creating a application component => forms in Oracle Portal if I use the help icon on any of the wizard pages, it won't show any help. Instead it reads javascript error on my browser's status bar.
Is this a bug or is it a problem with my installation of Oracle Portal. I use the Early Adopter for Windows NT on a 8.1.6 database.

The EA release on-line help contained some bugs that were corrected in the production release. The best solution is to update your environment to the production release (scripts for Solaris are on OTN, NT are coming soon). A work around is to mouse over the ?, take note of the file name and type out a URL as follows: http://<machine name>/help/<filename>. I'm having this issue as well only with a little different twist I guess. I'm transferring the iWorks applications from my Macbook Pro 3,1 with Lion to a new MBP 10,1 running Mountain Lion. I transferred the apps over using DropCopy since the older MBP doesn't have AirPlay. Applications show up but crash upon opening. This is the first install so there are no previous plist, versions or such to delete. All three crashed upon opening every time until I just had to have Keynote and purchased again - although Apple agreed to refund that purchase since my previous version quit working. Any ideas since I don't have any previous plist/versions to delete? Thanks in adavnce for any help you can offer.

Move generate export infosource to other application component

I have generate export datasource from ODS i.e 8YSD_O3 and the generate infosource is come up under application component 'data marts'. Wondering how can I move the infosource 8YSD_O3 to other application component ?

That is the place for Export Datasource. If you actually want to move it then, just drag and drop into where you want it to be and it will automatically move it, normally when you do this if it is some other object, it will ask you for Transport request but it may not ask you for transport request when drag and drop it.

OpenFile fails in Word for Mac: "helper application missing"

The OpenFile command in Word 2004 for Mac stopped working on my machine: it threw up am error message "Helper application not present" and froze Word. This was occasionally a real problem, since the same thing happened when trying to download a Word file from a website. But it was in general not critical, since I could work around it by clicking on files in Finder, or on the list of recent files at the foot of the File menu. I assumed that, when I updated, the problem would resolve itself. However, I have now updated Word 2004 to Word 2008; updated Tiger to Leopard; and finally migrated from my original Powerbook to a new iMac. However, the problem has not gone away (though the error message no longer appears). What can I do?

Export Failed (To Excel)

I searched a few threads showing the same problem... only without any confirmed solution. Exporting a workbook to excel comes up with 'export failed' while all the other exports work fine.
I've increased virtual memory on the computer.... and still Discoverer cannot export to excel. I also tried exporting on a server with over 7 gigs of memory. I am guessing the problem the process of formatting data to excel format.
Any other suggestions ??

Are you by chance using Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed. Microsoft, as always, does not quite tell you everything that they changed. The big one this time is that Service Pack 2 sets a registry switch that by default prevents Internet Explorer from transferring applications between zones. To Microsoft, running something from a web server (Discoverer) and then running something on your PC (Excel) means running applications in two different zones. With that switch set, your PC cannot switch zones when running Internet Explorer and so cannot open Excel from within Discoverer Plus or Viewer.
To allow Discoverer Plus to call a local copy of Excel you need to reset the switch so that it one again allows zone switching, like the old XP. The switch should be set to 0.
Follow this workflow:
1. Open your registry and look for this setting:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Main/FeatureControl/FEATURE_ZONE_ELEVATION/iexplore
It is probably set to 1 and it should be set to 0
In the Windows environment:
1. Start | Run | Regedit (to open the registry)
2. Locate the following key path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ZONE_ELEVATION\iexplore.exe
3. Change the value of this setting from 1 to 0 then close the registry editor
4. Ensure that the following settings for the .xls & .html file types are unchecked:
a) Open Windows Explorer
b) Goto Tools | Folder Options | File Types tab
c) Select the Extension XLS (or HTML) then click on the Advanced button
d) At the botton of the screen are three settings that use checkboxes. If either of the following two are checked, un-check them:
'Confirm Open after Download' and 'Browse in same window'
5. Select the OK button
6. Click the Apply button
7. Re-boot the PC

Transport Error on Data Mart Application Component

Hi All,
I have to transportthe export data source for my DSOs. I did use transport collection to make sure all the relevent objects are collected. When I transport the export data sources everything is going fine, but the DM (Application Component for the export data sources fail and put the object in repair status).
The 8* data sources are active and available in the myself source system and the update rules from the DSO to Cube is also active, but the info source is not there because the Data Mart - Application component failed. It says as follows in the transport log.
'Object R3TRAPCODM is in repair status. Therefore, it cannot be imported'.
If the object is in repair status, can I ask the basis guys to re-import with over-write option? will it fix the issue. I could not see the repair statuis on the object as it is an SAP component.
Or
anyone tell me how to transport export data sources. I am in BI 7.0 but using RSA1OLD setup.
Anyclues....?

Export fails

Im trying to export my project as .mdl file. However, after 87% of the project is exported it suddenly says 100% completed. The show statistics button remains disabled. When i try to import the file it throws an error.
I checked to see the contents of MDL file using winzip,(i have changed the extension to .zip), but the file doesnt open. I looked into the log but the log is empty. With this i assumed that the EXPORT might have failed.
I read the Help files and found that only 1 user should be logged in at the time of EXPORT. I did follow that but found no change.
Please let me know what could be the issue!

I suspect the Metadata export is failing purely of Memory related issue.
When im exporting, suddenly the export process slows down, i have seen in taskbar that memory consumption has increased. after some point of time, a message box appears. It reads.
"Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low : Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. During this process, memory requests for some applications may be denied. For more information, see Help."
Once this message pops up, the OWB export progress bar suddenly ssays 100% comlpeted. With this i assume that while the page file size is being increased the memory is deallocated from the OWB processes. Due to this the Export fails without errors.
If my above assumption is true then I may have to increase the my Memory. But now the question is What could be the size that i have to increase and that would ensure that this problem doesnt arise in future?
Also, I would like to know why OWB is not throwing any memory related Error?

I checked my business components by creating a default data form using the data form WIZARD. This worked fine and i found that by removing(commenting out) the code associated with the loginDialogueBox(added by wizard) caused the same error to occur with this data form.
PLEASE HELP, after all this work i would really like to see this working

`Component install failed` blues...

I am trying to install the trial version of Photoshop Extended cs3 and every time I try, it will tell me that "Component Install Failed" and have a red x next to Photoshop and/or Shared Components. This is the first Photoshop product that I have tried to put on my computer, and the only other Adobe program we have is Flash MX. I did not install any beta`s and we recently formatted the hard drive, so I`m pretty sure that running the CS3 Script cleaner thing won`t help. I have also tried to install it on my laptop, (Recently formatted as well) and it does the same thing.
Any help would be appreciated!
