I have installed Tomcat 5.0.12 on window98 but I have problems starting it up. I have set the initial enviroment variable to 4096 and I think every other thing is in place but when I start it up, it comes up with a new window which doesnt remain for too long. The log files it generates are as seen below.

Help, can't startup PB except by target disc mode
On normal start up, I get the "You need to restart your computer......" message with start symbol behind the writing. every time I try to restart the same thing happens. I've tried all the keys on start up tricks and the only ones that work are option/startup where I can choose Hard Drive, OS Disc, or Hardware tools. If I choose Hard Drive, it goes back to the kernal panic screen with "you need to .....". If I choose OS Disc, it goes to a light gray screen with the apple symbol in the middle and just stays there (also does this if I try to startup holding C with startup disc). If I choose Hardware Tools, it lets me test the hard drive and everything checks out fine but when I restart back to the "You need to restart.....". It will also startup in target disc mode hooked up to my iMac. All of my apps and files were there so I transfered everything, whew! I can then insert the startup disc into the PB and it comes up on my iMac in target disc mode. I then try to open and reinstall OS 10.4 but it tells me I have to restart to start the process and I can't do this in target disc mode. I just ant to be able to erase everything on my PB and reinstall OS 10.4 with the PB start discs. Is this possible? thanks....
J.R.Kernel panics are usually caused by a hardware problem – frequently RAM, a USB device or a Firewire device. What external devices do you have connected? When trying to troubleshoot problems, disconnect all external devices except your monitor, keyboard and mouse. Do you experience the same problems?
Have you recently added RAM?
May be a solution on one of these links.

You should be able to erase your PB (in target disc mode) hard drive while it is connected to the iMac. Use Disc Utility on the iMac. You can even install Tiger on the PB while it is connected to the iMac via TDM.

Sun Java System Application Server8 can not startup (help me )
I work in an japanese compay in China. recently, my JSC can not work
who can help me
the error infomation is :
The Sun Java System Application Server could not start:
Possible reasons:
1.port conflict
2.Incorrect server configuartion
3.corrputed deployed application
my java Studio Creator version: 2004Q2 Update9
I have used this tool for three weeks , in the frist week. everything is ok.
no probroblem happened. in the second week ,sometimes my JSC can not startup, so I restarted my JSC. and it can work again. later, the same problem happened again. when I restarted my JSC , it sill does not work, so I have to restart my computer and it startup successfully,
two days later, the same problem happened again. I restarted my computer , it still did not work. so I have to change my port number in the domain.xml. sometimes it woks well, but sometimes I can't not startup.
in the third week, no matter what I do, the problem can not be solved.
some of my colleagues don't have such problem. but some of them have the same problem. when I run my project on the computer that don't have such problem , it can startup. I don't know why, just a little weird.
till now , no one in our company can tell why this problem happened.
and I believe that anybody who use JSC will encountered this error sooner or later.
who can tell me why will this problem happen? and where can I find some related imformation about this problem. thanks!!!!!!

Problem to startup TOMCAT engine ! HELP !
Hi, I installed the TOMCAT 3.2.3 on Solaris, and set the env stuff. And ran the startup.sh, got the following error messages, why ?
Using classpath: jakarta-tomcat-3.2.3/lib/*:/usr/java1.2/lib/tools.jar
# Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/tomcat/startup/Tomcat
Is it can't find JDK ??? Thanks !
PhilipThanks for your reply !
I edited web-apps.xml as instructed, and ran the jsp again. I got this error message:
Internal error: Unexpected error condition thrown (java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sun/tools/javac/Main,sun/tools/javac/Main), stack: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sun/tools/javac/Main

"stack: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" ??? Does that mean JDK error or class error ? I have java at /usr/java1.2 !
What is wrong here ? This is a new Sun machine I just got last week.
Thx !

On startup, I get a gray screen w the apple logo and the gear going underneath, help can't get into my sign in and password..
Hi there,
Yes it does. Please read this training manual that is supplied by apple that clearly states that it does.
http://service.info.apple.com/service_training/en/010/comp-theory/index.php?page =startup
Oh, if you cannot access it please look here.
Please note that the ""Some other issue" means that there could be a possible other issue, but the chance of that
happening is small.
Thanks an ACMT Trainee (Apple Certified Mac Technician) -

Can't start Tomcat after installing Bea WorkShop for JSP
Hi,
I have been using Eclipse SDK Version: 3.1.2 Build id: M20060118-1600 and Web Tools Project 1.0.2 and Tomcat 5.0 and Tomcat 5.5 for about 2 months with no problems. But now I Can't start Tomcat after installing Bea WorkShop for JSP plug-in. I get "Server Tomcat v5.0 @ localhost failed to start". Any help would be greatly appreciated.I installed BEA Workshop for JSP Version: 3.1.0
Build id: 536. I only wanted to install the plug-in to my existng Eclipse 3.1 / WTP application. The only option that I saw was to download the entire FullWorkshopFreeInstall-536.zip, which is 192,496 KB. During the installation, there is a screen that you can specify to only install the plug-in - and I selected that option. Today, I chose to uninstall the BEA Workshop for JSP and then I was again able to start Tomcat server. I then did a complete install of BEA Workshop for JSP into a totally separate location. My original Eclipse installation still works fine, but my Workshop for JSP Version (which is now a completely new installation) has the same problem with Tomcat that I reported with the plug-in. I am using j2sdk1.4.2_08 and have tried both Tomcat 5.0 and Tomcat 5.5. I have the same problem with both Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional.
Thanks for your assistance.

Can I startup the Powerbook from an Iomega external CD burner?
Can I startup the Powerbook from an Iomega external CD burner? We no longer have the removable internal drive. The computer will not start up, and I need to start it up on a utility CD from an external drive, but I've been unsuccessful so far. The external drive is an Iomega CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive.
Thanks for any help.
- Brian
Powerbook G3 Mac OS X (10.4) 500MHz; 384 RAMIf the external drive is an USB drive, you probably can't boot a Mac OS X disk from it; the only known exception is an USB 1.1 drive with the Tiger DVD on a clamshell iBook.

Help! ClassCastException with Tomcat and HttpsUrlConnectionOldImpl
Hi,
I am trying to perform an HTTPS call from a servlet running under Tomcat 5.5, JDK 1.5.0 . When I do, I get this error:
java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol.https.HttpsURLConnectionOldImpl
at rcopia.util.WebUtils.setAutoVerify(WebUtils.java:1398)
at rcopia.util.WebUtils.getURLConnection(WebUtils.java:1377)
(etc).
I have included
System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs", "javax.net.ssl");
but it doesn't seem to help. How can I get Tomcat to use the new javax.net JSSE rather than the old com.sun.net... packages it is rying to use?
Please help!
BrandonSystem.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs", "javax.net.ssl");Don't do that. It's for JDK 1.3 and the JSSE extension.

I have tried deleting and re-installing itunes and quicktime but it still won't work. Please help.
Can someone please respond to my request for support? I tried the provided correct answer at https://discussions.apple.com/message/11561783#11561783 but it did not work.
I also got a MSFT tech support person to remotely look at my machine, for what its worth, he said the registry file is fine and to contact Apple support.
Any help would be very much appreciated. -

Hi, I getting a "playback error message" on youtube App. I tried to reinstall the app and to reset and restore the device and all these things didn't help.can you please help me
That's a peculiar one to get in the context of a QuickTime uninstall.
Which particular version of QuickTime for Windows are you currently running? (7.7.5, 7.7.4, something earlier?) -
Can not startup the oracle db after reboot
Hi.
I have an Oracle 10g DB running on Linux9 server. It works well before I reboot the server this morning. I can not startup the db.
$ sqlplus /NOLOG
SQL> CONNECT sys/password AS SYSDBA
Connected to an idle instance.
SQL> STARTUP
ORA-17503: ksfdopn:2 Failed to open file +DATADG/orcl10g/spfileorcl10g.ora
ORA-15055: unable to connect to ASM instance
How can I do to restart the db??
Any hints are highly appreciated.
QianYes, it seems all right. But the real problem is: after I start listener,
Oracle Enterprise manager 10g Fatabase Control and iSQL*Plus, I can not connect to the http://localhost:5500/em. The Alert says: The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost:5500.
I can connect to the iSQL*Plus. I mean, the http://localhost:5560/isqplus/, but can not login. The Error says: ERROR-ORA-12514: TNS: listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor.
When I see the status of listener,
The Alert of listener says:
Connecting to (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(PORT=1521))
STATUS of the LISTENER
Alias LISTENER

Trace level off
Security ON :Local OS Authentication
SNMP OFF
Listeneer Log File /opt/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/network/log/listener.log

(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=flulinux01)(PORT=1521)))
Service Summary...
Service "+ASM" has 1 instance(s).
Instance "+ASM", status BLOCKED, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
The command completed successfully.
I don't know which part is wrong. This morning all things work well....
And How can I check the db is startup? If the db is started, can I use sqlplus even without listener?
