Help for not recompiling .jsp files
Hi,
We are using sun web server 7.0. We have deployed one application which contains few jsp files.
everytime when we access login.jsp, it creates login_jsp.clss file in /generated folder..
if we delete login.jsp file and change settings in web.xml for login_jsp.class and try to access then it shows ,
error : page cannot be found and i found class file deleted from that path.
If i try the same in tomcat server, it works fine. so need to know the same settings for sun web server 7.
Is there any setting available for sun web server admin console for the same...
Thanks
Rushi

ITunes No Longer Runs--iTunes Helper Resources Not a Valid File Name
I made a dumb mistake (I think) and tried to install iTunes onto an SD card. At first, my computer would only let me open iTunes if the SD card was installed. I tried to reinstall to the C drive, but keep getting the "I Tunes Helper Resources not a Valid File Name" message. At this point I want to uninstall everything and start over, but I'm afraid I'll lose my music. I still have all the files but, of course, none will open since I don't have a properly installed iTunes anymore. Would appreciate any assistance in uninstalling, reinstalling and saving my current music files.
Here's what I decided to do. Fortunately, all the files were still available, so I simply backed them up from my iTunes Music Library onto a 32 GB flash drive then transferred the new stuff onto an older computer in my office with an older version of iTunes. I had to do this in several shifts since I have more than 32GB of music. Everything that transferred plays well. Next I'll try to wipe iTunes completely off the new computer, reinstall an older version of iTunes and then reload all the files onto the new computer. What a PITA!

Help running a simple jsp file,Tomcat 5.0.16
Hi,
This question may be addressed many many times,but do reply.
I have a Win xp operating system
Installed Tomcat 5.0.16 in it.
Next the directory structure
PS : The sampleapp directory is outside the tomcat installation directory.
E:/sampleapp
| |
ROOT WEB-INF
|
classes
|
<package1><structure> .class files (for servlet works fine!!!!)
in the WEB-INF,there is the web.xml,then sourcefiles<dir> and the lib directory which is empty.
Now the servlet files work fine.........
I have placed my MyJsp.jsp file in the above mentioned ROOT directory.
I have not done any thing with the <TOMCAT_HOME>/conf/server.xml file
and the web.xml which I have written.
When I give the following URI
http://localhost:8080/sampleapp/MyJsp.jsp,
I get the HTTP status 404- /MyJsp.jsp
description: The requested resource (/MyJsp.jsp) is not available.
Hoping that I have defined the problem specifically.Kindly show some light on this.
Thanks
ASNevermind. I just found the answer. For the record, there are two ways in getting JSPs to work:
1. Precompiling the JSPs and modifying your webapp's web.xml file with the XML fragment generated in YourWebApp/web/WEB-INF/generated_web.xml;
2. Not precompiling the JSPs, but simply letting tomcat compile it on the fly on first access.
PRECOMPILATION METHOD
Go to http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.0-doc/jasper-howto.html. Copy-and-paste the ant script under the section "Web Application Compilation" into a file called compile.xml. For me, I save it in ~/development/compile.xml. Then compile the JSPs using the command (all in a single line):
$ANT_HOME/ant -file <PATH_TO_COMPILE.XML> -Dtomcat.home=<$TOMCAT_HOME> -Dwebapp.path=<$WEBAPP_PATH>
In my case, I cd into the directory where my app resides:
cd ~/development/HelloWorld
and then I type:
ant -file ~/development/compile.xml -Dtomcat.home=/var/tomcat5 -Dwebapp.path=.
(Note the trailing dot since my current directory is my webapp's directory itself. Also, in my case, my shell's PATH contains the path to the ant executable, so I just type 'ant' directly.)
Open the file ~/development/HelloWorld/web/WEB-INF/generated_web.xml and follow the instructions in that auto-generated file, which is: "Place this fragment in the web.xml before all icon, display-name, description, distributable, and context-param elements."
The web.xml referred to above is YOUR web.xml. In my case, it is the one in ~/development/HelloWorld/web/WEB-INF/web.xml
When ready to deploy, type:
ant dist
as usual. Deploy the .war file in the dist directory as you normally would. In my case, I do:
rm -rf $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/hello* (removes my HelloWorld webapp directory and its war file)
cp ~/development/HelloWorld/dist/hello.war $CATALINA_HOME/webapps
and wait for tomcat to unravel the war file. I can then access the JSP page based on whatever the generated_web.xml had specified. In my case, it would be http://localhost:8080/hello/sample.jsp
NON-PRECOMPILATION METHOD
Copy tools.jar from the Java JDK into tomcat's common/lib. (I found this only in the error message in tomcat's log file!! Didn't find it anywhere else!!). Do this one time only, then restart tomcat:
cp $JAVA_HOME/lib/tools.jar $CATALINA_HOME/common/lib
Restart tomcat.
Deploy your webapp as usual which will include your JSP files stored under your webapp's 'web' directory. No precompilation of JSPs is required. Then access your JSP pages such as http://localhost:8080/HelloWorld/my-jsp-page.jsp and tomcat will compile it on the fly on first access. The disadvantage is that there will be a slight delay on first access.
[Note: I am putting all this down for the record, because it took me MANY HOURS to figure all this out as the info on how to do this is not found clearly in one place!! Hope this helps others.]
My next step is to incorporate the contents of compile.xml as mentioned above, into my regular build.xml file. -
Why different result for the same jsp file run at oc4j902 and oc4j903?
In a jsp file, It use class in "java.util" package, It is not import "java.util.*".
The jsp file run at oc4j 902:

The jsp file:

Help:Can not find the file in jar!
Hello everyone:
I build a project using Netbeans 5.0 and make a jar file with it...
The code in the project as follows will throw an exception described that it can not find the file named datasource-config.xml
String dataFilePath = getClass().getResource(dataFile).getPath();
//System.out.println("filepath:"+dataFilePath);
InputStream input = new FileInputStream(dataFilePath);
when I run the project with the main() function as an entry it works perfectly and output:
filepath:/C:/projects/java_project/search/build/classes/com/cn/wxjt/lucene/config/datasource-config.xml
But when I compressed the project with jar and run it , it will show:
filepath:file:/C:/projects/java_project/search/dist/search.jar!/com/cn/wxjt/lucene/config/datasource-config.xml
there is a (!) between search.jar and /com/cn/wxjt...
I dont know why I generate a ! symbol in the file path... Is it cause the exception->
java.io.FileNotFoundException: file:\C:\projects\java_project\search\dist\search.jar!\com\cn\wxjt\lucene\config\datasource-config.xml
If you have any idea, plz tell me.
Thank you and best wishes to you !
:)If the file you want to read is in your jar file, use
getClass ().getResourceAsStream
(relative_path_file_name)Hope that help,
Jackhey jack i want to open the file as new File
i m using this.getClass().getResource("resource/backend.xml");
the resource is the directory inside the jar file.
when i prints the url it shows:
the jar file is in the WORK directory
URL : jar:file:/home/neeraj/WORK/show.jar!/resource/backend.xml
now when i creates new File using the url.getFile() method the file does not exist.

Help for documentation about jsp and tomcat
Hello
This is realy very urgent for me!!Does anuone can help me.
There is my problem .I nead books (hypperlink) for jsp or tomcat.
who made it why and how does it looks.I am writeing documenation for my project and i have to finish it very soon.I found some tutorials btu it is noy enough if you know for something better i would be vry gratefull.
ByHi,
I agree, the basic documentation at the jakarta site is good, but needs a little polishing/updating.
Use google to do a search, and wade through loads of stuff before coming up with the answers, or this site is pretty good too!!!!!
Unfortunately, all the answers are not always forthcoming until you know which questions to ask (or the relevant words to enter into a search engine).

Help for reading a numeric file
Hi to all of you,
I am new to programming .
I have to read a numerical matrix stored in a file . The matrix is made of integer numbers and its dimension is 100*4.
I would like to know which is the best metod to read integers from a file and which set of instructions to use.
I'm reading the book "introduction to java programming by prof Eck" and he uses TextIO class but I cannot read anything.
Thank you very much for you help, meaning a book to read , a chapter to download from internet and why not a hint of code.
Best wishes
ArturoHi Shailendra_Singh_Parmar,
as you can see from my enclosed application
import java.io.File ;
import java.util.Scanner;
public class ReadMatricksFile {
*@param args*
public static void main(String[] args)throws Exception {
Scanner scan = new Scanner(new File("/home/arturo/workspace/ReadMatricksFile/bin/Estra.txt"));
int i;
int j;
int a[][]=new int[5][4];
// carico il file nella matrice
while (scan.hasNextInt()) {
for (i=1;i<=4;i++) {
for (j=1;j<=3;j++) {
a[i][j]=(scan.nextInt());
System.out.println();
// Mi stampo la matrice a video per controllare che tutto è andato bene
for (i=1;i<=4;i++) {
for (j=1;j<=3;j++) {
System.out.print(a[i][j]);
System.out.print(" ");
System.out.println();
}this is my first little, very very litle, program in Java that will let me read my big stored matrix.
Thank you for your invaluable help. Best wishes.
To Encephalopatic...
thank you very much . From your teaching I've understood that my life (with Java) will be easier if I use standard Java. So, I will always try to search equivalent standard code to the one proposed by prof Eck.
Enjoy your life to all of you .

Regards,
Ekta1.Through ctrl file and log file using SQL LoaderPlease clarify :
Do you want to load the entire file into a single column (XMLType or CLOB), or do you want to extract XML data and store it into different relational columns?
Please also edit your first post and use tags to enclose the XML source, and do not copy/paste directly from your browser, use "view source" feature so that the content doesn't retain navigation characters (+/-).

Need help for Scheduling a Spool file and FTP the file
I have one requirement like below...
1. Start Scheduling a job
2. Generate a Spool file (.csv file)
3. If Spool file generation is successful then start FTP the file
Else End job
4. After successful FTP process end the job.
We need to create a log file also for this job.
Can any body give some idea how will i proceed?
Thanks in advance.Billy Verreynne wrote:

Chris' may be wrapped, but it includes the funky ability to query remote files directly in SQL due to it's use of pipelined functions. A feature I've also got in my own FTP package and very useful for monitoring logs on remote servers through our Apex applications. ;)Ditto - also rolled my own FTP package as doing wildcard file listing requires custom support depending on the type of FTP server you're dealing with. The text part of the responses differ (these are not RFC'ed) and makes parsing more complex than what it could have been.Yeah, the differing responses can be a pain, though fortunately they are far and few between. There was a bug in Chris' package in that it wasn't handling a two code response from a windows FTP server for one of the commands, but I emailed him and he fixed that. Not his fault, he didn't have a windows FTP server to test on at the time.
FTP is a pretty straight forward protocol and easy to wrap a PL/SQL package around (using <i>UTL_TCP</i>).Absolutely. and the RFC details almost everthing you need to handle. It was quite quick to knock up a package, similar to the code hoek has linked to.
I think there is a lot of common stuff that many of us do in this regard. Always wondered how well a proper GPL'ed open source project providing a PL/SQL development framework and libraries would do...I think there'd be a lot of arguments about what is the best way of doing things. :D -
Help regarding a simple JSP file and servlet file
Hi all,
I am trying to develop a web based application using Tomca 5.0.16.I wanted to get to know how a simple jsp page could access a servlet.It would be really very beneficial if if any one can give me a sample code that does the interactions,I could run it and understand it,would help me for further development.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
ASI think it depends on how you want to access the servlet.
You can forward or redirect from the JSP page to the servlet, thus making it like you went to the servlet directly from the browser (except of course, before the forward or redirect, some stuff can be done).
You can use URLConnection objects to call the servlet, much like the browser does.
It depends on what you are trying to do. -
Any fix for not playing swf files?
Hello
Having trouble getting FF to play my Flash 8 swf files on
this page
http://www.enhancedwireless.net/indexrdm.html
There should be a small logo animated for about 3 sec in the
upper left of this page, but instead I get nothing on my MAC OS
10.3.9. and any of my friends using PC and MAC get nothing as well.
Safari plays this fine...Also there are 7 or 8 banners on
this page 4 of which are swf files, and these are scripted to play
randomly on every refresh of this page, however they do not appear
at all on FF/netscape on mac or PC...some machines get nothing,
some get a big Quicktime logo in the middle of where the swf banner
should play. All my swf files need Flash player 8 or higher to
work. IE 6 has problems but IE 7 seems to play these OK.
So, how to fix this?
Thanks
KBYou may have already tried this yet have you tried exporting
your file using a lower flash player? No guarantees but its always
worth a try -
