Help - I'm drowning!

Dear All,
Having used mobile telephones from many years I am well familiar with their more conventional use. However, I now have an urgent need to connect a mobile phone (preferably a Nokia) to my Windows PC to use it interactively with Outlook 2007.
Basically, I want to be able to use the auto dialler function available within Outlook to call my contacts (most of whom use mobile telephones), and to do so with my mobile connected and running through the Nokia PC Suite. This function is readily available when auto dialling landline numbers but I am completely lost as to what I need to do to set up this facility with a mobile phone.
I currently have a NOKIA Model 2630 but from what I have already read on the discussion forums, this particular telephone is likely to be a waste of time and it's unlikely to support my requirements.
I am resigned therefore to simply throw away this particular low-end telephone and replace it with one more readily suited for the job at hand.
I'm sorry to be so long winded but I have spent several hours wading through all of the support discussions on this topic and now find myself totally confused and at a complete loss as to where to go and what to do.
Is there anybody out there who can help me with the following:
1.     Recommend a suitable Nokia telephone particularly suited to interacting with Outlook 2007 that would enable  to  simply click on my chosen contact's autodial button and initiate the telephone call out through my mobile.
2.  I already do this with relative ease on landline numbers but I have got completely lost in the maze of confusion over this subject so far as mobile phones are concerned.
3.  I can see already set the mobile phone I currently have simply will not do the job and I would appreciate any help from anyone who may have already achieved this objective and who could advise me as to which would be the best NOKIA mobile telephone for me to go out and buy for this particular job.
4.  Finally any general hints, tips or information would also be greatly appreciated as well as any links or pointers to other sources of information I can look at.
This is my first departure into this kind of mobile telephone tech-support and so I really am groping around in the dark at the moment.
Any info or pointers would be an enormous help.
All the best

Your best choice would be a phone from the E series, like the E71. I use this phone and it connects through Outlook.
Connect the phone with the USB cable whitch is included with the E71 to Nokia PCSuite. Open contacts in Outlook and rightclick a contact. In the menu choose: call contact-> dialling options-> connect using line-> Nokia E71 USB modem-> ok, close the window and start call. If you prefer Bluetooth, choose the right modem in the settings. Now, go to the store and get youself one of these beauties.
‡Thank you for hitting the Blue/Green Star button‡

  • Help, I'm drowning...movies play on computer but not in DVD players

a problem i seem to have with my videos is that when I am done, they play on computers using dvd player apps but when I burn them to a DVD to play in a DVD player they do not play correctly. It drops frames or looks like they skip or something..For instance they play for a couple of seconds, stop, continue to play, stop, continue to play...this goes on throughout the entire video.
What causes this to happen? I've experimented with different compression formats and get the same outcome. I also tried both DVD studio and Toast to burn the DVD and get same results with both.
Is there a basic setting that I am over looking? What is the format that everyone uses when using Compressor? Currently I go from FCP, to Compressor, to DVD...I have nearly went through all the compressor formats and still get jerky,stop/play/stop/play video when going to the DVD format....
    HELP...what am I over looking??

"....and you still haven't converted your audio to Dolby2 as I've suggested since my first post."
YES It was converted in compressor to a Dolby/ac3 file this morning when i mentioned it in my last post .."that I re-compressed it again as a "Best Quality 90...." and said that it fixed about 95% of the jerkiness..."
And since your first post i've only been at the project since this morning...not last night.and it was the first thing i tackled (and tried) when i got in ..When I posted the issue i was at home and not at the office, so Iwas not able to try anything until this morning
So let me re-explain what I have done to the file since 7:30 this AM..
I re-sent it to compressor, compressed at Best 90/Dolby ->AC3....I then opened DVDsp...I dragged both files...(the Mpeg file and the AC3 to the DVDsp window...Simulated and burned..I burn two copies. one for me, one for the client...we use two different DVD players. He says its still a lil jerky...I reply saying yes I saw it on my disc as well.
SO with being said and the file IS currently a dolby AC3...why would it still be jerky?
Would it have anything to do with footage being ripped from another disc?
I really appreciate the help you offering but it sounds like you are being condescending trough your answers and making it seem as though i am not doing what you suggest.

  • Logic 8- Midi issues-Please help an amateur!

    Hi,
I have trawled the Logic 8 manual but my head is melted reading it. Basically I have two queries. I’m a total amateur, as you will soon see from the questions I’m about to ask, with a project due so the pressure is on.
Can I put a fade in/fade out on a midi region? There are a number of different instruments playing simultaneously and I want them to all fade out together naturally enough. I think it’s something to do with Hyperdraw maybe or Automation?
Also, how can I put say a bit of reverb on one midi region? For example I have a lot of virtual piano on my music but in some sections I want to give it a different feel. Can I put the reverb on just one segment without having to apply it the whole way through the region and if for example there are 4 or 5 instruments playing together can you put reverb just on one instrument? I probably need a crash course in mixing but help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

The first thing to realise, is MIDI is not sound. MIDI is just a series of instructions "Ok, play me a C3 quite hard now", and it's the instrument itself that resonds to these instructions and makes a sound.
Can I put a fade in/fade out on a midi region?
Yes, if you want to do this via MIDI (ie, put in a MIDI instruction that says to the instrument "Ok, please reduce your volume", you need to use a MIDI Volume message.
The easiest is probably to select your region, enable Hyperdraw on Volume, and draw in your fade where you want it.
I think it’s something to do with Hyperdraw maybe or Automation?
Automation is a way of automating the mixer. You so far haven't said what instrument is making your sound - a MIDI region could be playing back an external keyboard, or it could be playing back a software instrument inside Logic. If the former, you can't directly use automation. If the latter, you can, as the "sound" is already inside Logic.
Also, how can I put say a bit of reverb on one midi region?
Again, thinking about it logically - you can't put reverb on some instructions, that doesn't make sense. You have to put reverb, which is an audio process, on the instrument playing the notes. Assuming you are using a piano sound inside Logic, then you can insert a reverb plugin on that audio channel the sound is coming through.
(I'm trying to keep this fairly simplistic.)
For example I have a lot of virtual piano on my music but in some sections I want to give it a different feel. Can I put the reverb on just one segment without having to apply it the whole way through the region
Remember, we are adding reverb to the "instrument", not the region containing instructions. Yes, there are many ways to achieve what you want, but some of these would take a little time to explain and I'm not sure you'd follow me. (I don't mean to sound patronising, BTW!)
Typically, though this is not the only way, you'd put a reverb on a spare aux channel, and "feed" in the piano sound to this reverb. You can then automate this "feed" (called a bus send) so you can increase and decrease it throughout the song, to give you the desired increase or decrease in reverb.
Are you comfortable using Logic's mixer, inserting plugins, sending audio through busses etc?
if for example there are 4 or 5 instruments playing together can you put reverb just on one instrument?
Yes - again, if you have the reverb directly on the one instrument channel, the other instrument channels don't have it on, and so will have no reverb. Or using the bus send method above, you send only the piano to the reverb, and nothing else, so only the piano has reverb.
I probably need a crash course in mixing but help greatly appreciated.
Yes, I really recommend getting some introductory MacProVideo.com Logic tutorials, or get a friend who knows Logic to walk you through some basics - it concerns me that you are working on a real project under pressure, and have very little knowledge of the basics. I mean, I admire you jumping in at the deep end, but it doesn't help if you drown on the first go...!

  • My artwork and images keep resizing at random how to I stop this from happening ?

I have tried to PIN / LOCK the images but nothing is working, pulling my hair out - When I add an image to a slideshow then upload to FTP then i go online all the images are mis aligned and re sized - I have to go back and re-set them all again. done this multiple times for days and its beyond a joke now. I have a multiple galleries (its a photography site) Please HELP I'm drowning here in a time sponge.
I also notice for no reason also at random some images are pixelated when they show up on my site - they have all been saved the same way but maybe 5% of them come out foggy looking and not like the original Jpeg I saved for the site.

    Hello,
Since Muse optimizes the images for web, they might not look as expected.
You can check the below links for this issue:-
Is it necessary to "save images for web" before importing into Muse?
Re: My images look blurry when I export or publish my site from Muse. Why and how do I fix it?

I haven't done a lot of work with time zones, but I have some ideas that just
may work. If it is important for this object to pass in and out of time-zones
untouched by the destination try passing it by reference. The idea is that the
actual object will remain in one time zone. You may need to "anchor it down"
somehow where it resides (Make it private, READ_ONLY or ??).
Another thing to try is: If it is passed via a method set the mechanism as
"input". I believe this will stop the destination from changing it. (i.e. It
will receive it as input only).
    Just some ideas. Good luck.

  • Streaming Audio Lagging (Unusual Bug)

I have a swf, which loads external movies, each external
movie has its own layer in the time line which contains an audio
file, the audio is not being used with actionscript, it is just
sitting there and plays with the "stream" option enabled in the
    properties bar.
What I have found is that, when going from one scene to the
next scene within the loaded swf, the audio will overlap, that is,
the audio doesn't finish when it is supposed to, or the audio for
the next scene will play before the current scene is finished.
Has anyone encountered this problem before, or, have they
found a way or know a way to fix this? Perhaps something could be
done to 'sync' the audio with the timeline at the end of every
scene, maybe some function could be called that gets the audio and
does something to it to make it re-sync?
I am really out of ideas. I have tried getting the next scene
to have a delay of 9-15 frames, and that seems to have worked, but
what happens is if I am running the swf, then open an app up or do
something that uses a lot of cpu power, the flash file that is
running will start to lag from that point onwards. Now, if the
program or process that I was running in the background is now
closed or goes away , the lag in flash remains! Even for new scenes
that I use or even new loaded swf files, the lag stays! I close the
swf, reopen it and the lag is still there, I close flash, and
reopen flash, then test hte movie out again, and the lag is still
    there.
If you don't run another intensive process in the background,
or open another application, the audio doesn't lag and everthing
    works fine.
If anyone has any idea's about this, please share.
BTW, I use an Athlon XP2600+ and the CPU usage is low when
    running this swf file...

If you look at reply #3 you can see that member has the same computer I had (HP desktop with beats audio).
I remember trying what he suggested and it actually worked...for a small while.
When the issue came back, I continually tried to enable/disable the Beats audio in hopes of fixing the issue.
Sometimes it would work immediately. Other times it wouldn't work at all.
The member in post #3 is probably right in that this may be related to the audio driver on some computers.
Now, I just got a Dell XPS8700 and I haven't gotten the issue yet.
Of course I've only been using it for a day or so but so far so good.
The HP desktop I was using is going to my friend.
He will be using it to work on our show so essentially he'll have to deal with the headache lol.
What bothers me the most is that I get these Flash CC updates pretty often and each time I think it's fixed, it's not.
To add insult to injury when you get a Flash CC update through Adobe CC you'll see a link below the update that you would THINK would show you the changes that were made but it doesn't...it just goes to the default Flash CC webpage...sigh.
I personally think it's down right hilarious that so many paying customers could have an issue like this and Adobe just sits back and counts their money.

  • K8NGM2-FID Stability Issues

Major Stability Issues.  Have yet to install windows successfully.  Tried every bios setting imaginal.  Tried dual channel and single channel memory cofigurations in every memory slot.  When windows tries to install, the system will spontaneously restart, go dark and freeze, or the screen flickers and freezes, basically everything but install windows.  I have also tried Suse Linux 9.3  and have experienced the same results.  I currently have the Engineering pre production version Bios that other users have experienced having.  I have tried to flash/update the bios following the Non-FAT instructions that came with the downloaded V3.1 BIOS zip file and that also has failed.  I've read that other posters said they too could not flash the bios due to the fact that it did not recongnize the chip sets.  Is there a way to update the bios without using the winflash utility?  Is there anything else I should try? RMA?  Help, I'm drowning. Thanks.

Anyways, I have had some limited sucess lately.  MSI sent me Bios 3.13 which CAN be flashed through DOS.  I did a memory test off my Suse 9.3 installation CD to get all my memory timings error free.  I did a Western Digital test to make sure the hard drive was properly working.  Here is where it got weird.  Everytime I went to intall windows, it ask if you agree blah, blah and as soon as I hit F8 to continue it would either lock up or restart itself.  I disabled everything in the Bios, went to one stick of Ram, and moved the harddrive to SATA 3.  And Finally, I was able to get through the install process and finally get windows to boot up.  Once windows is up and running it works great.  The problem I am now experiencing is it doesn't always boot up.  After the machine posts and is in the process of loading windows it will restart itself.  Maybe once out of every 15 startups will windows actual load.  Am I unlucky or is the 500 watt PSU I bought still not good enough? Thanks.

  • Streaming audio begins at beginning when previewed in timeline

I have audio inserted along the main timeline of my Flash movie. It is set to stream. When I try to preview the timeline to match the narration with events along the timeline, no matter where I am on the timeline, the audio starts at the beginning. Makes timing incredibly difficult.
Is there a fix for this, or is it a bug in the Flash Pro CC that will cause me to continue to work in Flash 5.5?
    Thanks.

  • Where did my drive go?

The next time I decide to get anbitious and update I'll just go back to bed.
    I have the 875P Neo-FIS2R.
Flashed BIOS for the first time today and that seemed to go well.
    Updated to these drivers:
    Intel INF  (5.1.0.1008)
    Promise 378 S-ATA (1.0.0.16)
    Intel Gigabit Ethernet (7.0.37.0)
Now my S-ATA drive shows up as a SCSI DVD drive!!
Regardless of what I've tried I cannot get it to change.
Even when I unhook the S-ATA cable from the drive and reboot it still shows up as SCSI DVD, so I'm guessing this is a driver issue?
I'm not running SCSI!!  HELP, I'm drowning here.

When you flash the Bios, you have to go into the Bios after and set everything back to how you had it before. In order for us to help, you'll have to list all your drives and where they are physically connected.
Read the FAQ for hints on the correct Bios settings for the drives.
My guess... If that SATA was on the Promise try setting Bios>>>Integrated Peripherals>>>Promise Controller to "As SATA" if it isn't already or "As Raid" depending on which drivers you have installed in Windows.

  • RE: No Audio in my DVD

    Hi,
I have made photo slideshows and added an mp3 soundtrack to them. This previews perfectly in Encore but when it burns to a dvd folder (im saving as a DVD to my desktop first to test it) it has no sound. Any ideas? I have searched google and it looks like a common problem but I have not seen an answer to this.
Like my previous button question. please help.. im drowning.
    Cheers,
    Fiona

    Esther Ann,
    Welcome to the forum.
I use Adobe Audition to convert all MP3's to PCM/WAV files @ 48KHz 16-bit, but one can use other programs, like the free Audacity. Just Open the MP3's in the audio-editing program, and then Export (often a Save, depending on the program) to PCM/WAV. Import that Audio file, instead of the MP3.
    Good luck,

i believe this is due to the latest i-tune software update.

PLEASE REPORT THIS TO APPLE AND LET THEM KNOW WE'RE NOT ALONE! both of my computers seem to work without a hitch, but the message- "first aid cannot connect to the disk management tool"- is pretty spooky, and could cause other problems down the road.... thanks!!

  • Im DROWNING! need help with a simple java assignment! plz someone help me!

i need help with my java assignment, with validating a sin number. easy for must who know java. im drowning... please help!

You will need to store each digit of the social insurance number in a field of its own. To validate the entry you will:
    1. Multiply the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th digit by 2.
    2. If the product of any of the four multiplications result in a value greater than 9, add the two resulting digits together to yield a single-digit response. For example 6 * 2 = 12, so you would add the 1 and the 2 to get a result of 3.
    3. Add these four calculated values together, along with the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th digits of the original number.
    4. Subtract this sum from the next highest multiple of 10.
    5. The difference should be equal to the 9th digit, which is considered the check digit.
    Example of validating S.I.N. 765932546
    1st digit 7
    2nd digit (6*2 =12 1+2=) 3
    3rd digit 5
    4th digit (9*2 = 18 1+8 =) 9
    5th digit 3
    6th digit (2*2 = 4) 4
    7th digit 5
    8th digit (4*2 = 8) 8
Total 44 next multiple of 10 is 50
    50-44 = 6 which is the 9th digit
Therefore the S.I.N. 765932546 is Valid
    ********* SIN Validation *********

  • Please help!! I'm drowning!!

    Hi,
If you could help me I would be in debt to you forever!!
I am having real trouble trying to get the following code to work and have been pulling my hair out for about 3 days now!
I have stored some documents as BLOB objects in my SQL database in various formats, i.e. XLS, DOC, PDF etc.
My 1st issue is, Is there anyway to automatically determine the content type of a BLOB object when calling it from the web application?
And how do you call it from a data base?
The code I am using is below, it does not work for some reason and I keep getting a Null pointer exception and I dont know why?
Please could you help as I am completely stuck and dont know who to ask for help now?
    Thanks very much in advance.

  • Help im drowning here in a sea of confusion

    Hi everyone.
Ok im in a pickle and need some help, i took out an .mac account for my first web site, which is doing great, now I want to build one for the whole region so all the jiu jitsu clubs can keep in touch. So I went to my I web built anew web site then opened a new account. This is where the problem started.
I know cant get my mac web account to upload my site, It just keeps loading the other site i have and then the new one . I even tried idisk and all that did was sync and give me a load of alias disks.
I took the advice off here but now on the bottom of my iweb were it said my old address with alil green light it has the new one but it just wont load and how do i even get back my old web page thingy on the bottom right now im about at my wits end.

To avoid all this confusion you should think about taking Tom's advice and open a new user account for the second website and .Mac account.
Split your domain file, move the appropriate one over to the second user and drop it into Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
Make sure you give this user account read and write permissions.
You can do this, and sort out any "foreign" language issues, by highlighting iWeb in Applications and clicking "get info".
Login to the second .Mac account from this user account.
Now each site can be launched in its own user account and published to the appropriate .Mac account with relatively little strain on your brain!
You'll make life a little easier by enabling "fast user switching" in Apple/System Preferences/Accounts/Login Options.
