Help - Inkwell transfers only the letter A into Remote Desktop.

Hello,
I use Microsoft's remote desktop over a VPN to use my servers at work (terminal services). It works great in every aspect except when I try to write using inkwell. When I start to write with my stylus the yellow paper window opens and accepts my handwriting. Then it transfers only the letter A repeatedly into the text field within remote desktop (microsoft). If I write "Hello" it will come out as "Aaaaa". If I write "The Quick Brown Fox" it comes over as Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"
Does anyone know why? Any Fix?

Browser Fonts - only the letter A.

Since Mac Lion many browser fonts are only the letter A in a box. Which are the "A" depends on how much I zoom in or out.
How can I get the fonts to behave properly. Safari is the worst. Chome is bad and FirFox is almost OK.

Are you using two fonts managers? By that I mean another one other than the Font Book app that came with yur Mac?

Save Only The Artboard area into AI file

Hi,
Is it possible to save only the ARTBoard Area into a new AI document by using JSX.
for example in the above image I want only the yellow marked drawing ,that is inside the artboard area, to be save in the new document [AI file] by using JSX.

What you see in the document is what you will see when you save it.
I recommend saving as a psd then if you really want to you can merge the layer or flatten (merge will leave the background transparent whereas flatten will give you a white backgound if there are any transparent areas in the document)
(ctrl-e or ctrl-shift-e {windows} cmd-e or cmd-shift-e {Mac})
Or you can leave the layers alone and create a composite (A new merge layer on top of the other layers)
(ctrl-shift-alt-e {windows} cmd-shift-opt-e {mac})
That said not all formats support layers or transparency. An example of that is jpg when you save with that format you will get a single flattened layer that will have a white background anyplace there was transparency.
To recap:
1)Always work on a duplicate file when doing destructive work so you can return later and undo what you did.
2)When ever possible use non-destructive edits such as a composite layer.
3)If you require layers or transparency it is required that you use a format that supports them like tiff or psd
4)Use jpg as a file for sharing and never as the master file. Because the format is destructive and throws out data each time you open and save it.

Logging into Remote Desktop

I keep trying to log into remote desktop from my computer. The credentials are correct and work from other computers but every time I try to log in they say access denied.

I agree with that you may use the incorrect user account or format.
You can try the following format.
RemoteComputerName\UserAccount
Or
Domain\UserAccount

Live SWF video Plays Locally But Only The Skin is Visible Remotely.

Hi Guys,
I have tested other embedded videos and they will play remotely so I know the hosting site is working.   Can anyone please look and tell me what I can try to make the vid work?   Currently, the live video will play locally and remotely from this computer where all the files are stored but only the skin is visible on any other remote computer's web browser.
I will post any info you ask for.   I have been working on this forever.   Please, someone who is good at this help me?

P.S.   My live video is being broadcast by Adobe Flash Media Encoder to Adobe Flash Media Server 4 and inserted into Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver Support watched me re-create the Flash file and import into Dreamweaver and we looked at it for hours together. In the end, they suggested I post here because we could not figure it out / it is not supported. Ideas?   Can I provide any other helpful info?P.S. The Adobe Dreamweaver Tech Support said to post here and that the Expertise Team (you I suppose) would figure it out. I am running Windows 7 64-bit OS.

According to you since the stream published by FMLE to FMS is playing fine on the other players even remotely, it doesn't look like FMS problem.
But could you please eloborate the logic you are using in your player?

Help logging into remote desktop

Hello - I newly downloaded the Microsoft Remote Desktop and believe I have all of my company's info entered correctly (an IT staff even verified it for me!), but I cannot seem to get things to connect.
I keep getting this error message -
HTTPSGatewayEndpointException: ReadFromSubEndpointError(6)
What does this mean? Is there anything in particular I should do to troubleshoot? Any help would be much appreciated!

Are you referring to Remote Desktop Client? And which device are you using, iPhone/iPad or Mac/MacBook?
If it is iPhone/iPad, could you remote to the same target with an laptop with using same wifi? I'm thinking if it is the wireless connection which is causing the issue. You can confirm with your IT staff too.
And if it is a macbook/mac, try to connect with a cable instead of using wireless connection to see the result.

Users cannot log into Remote Desktop after 3/11/2015 update!

I have a simple network where users can log into a Windows SBS 2008 server with Remote Desktop to access various applications. This worked quite smoothly until this morning, after the updates of last evening. (3/11/2015)
When users tried to log into the Remote Desktop this morning their credentials were rejected, as if their username and/or password were incorrect. Even I (as the administrator) could not log in remotely. Finally I connected a monitor and keyboard
directly to the server and was able to log in without an issue. After logging in directly I was able to connect through remote desktop.
This method worked for my other users as well - after I logged them in directly they were able to use remote desktop no problem.
The trouble is that I have a couple dozen users, and this is an issue that should not be occurring. What happened in the last update to cause remote desktop to reject users credentials? Why does it only work after the user logs in directly?
And most importantly, how do I fix this?
A few notes:
Simply browsing for files on the server also asks for the user's name and password, and this works as well. This is only a remote desktop issue.
I have already checked to make sure the domain was correct. It was.

I have already checked to make sure this was not a unique issue for a single (or limited number) of users. This issue effected
all users all the network.

I'm curious here... If the server is rebooted, does it put the RDS users back into a "credentials failed" situation? If so, could you please have them log in with credentials:
domain.local\username (I suspect they may be currently using domain\username)
and see if that fixes the RDS problem without having to first log into the server directly.
The ".local" may be ".lan" or ".somethingelse" depending on how you initially configured your domain, but the default for SBS 2008 is ".local"

That's a good question - the server will auto-reboot this evening and I'll test again in the morning.
You are correct that we've been using domain\username. I tried domain.local\username (which is the way we've set up), and that did not work either.
I'll let you know how things turn out tomorrow morning. I don't want to mess with my users anymore today. :P

Is there a way to open the mircophone channel using Apple Remote Desktop so I can listen on anything thats happening at my computer at home? If not is there another software that would work?

You would have to launch software that would accept audio from the microphone and transmit it to you in some fashion. ARD does not transmit audio itself. Another remote control solution such as Timbuktu might transmit audio, so you could look into that, perhaps.
Also is there a way to use apple's software to control and watch a PC?
You can install a VNC server on the PC and ARD can then take control of the system. It can be tricky to find a VNC system that will work with ARD, though, so search this forum for "VNC" for possible options. One of the applications that support Microsoft's remote desktop architecture such as their own Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac or iTap Mobile RDP will probably work better, though.

Win svr 2008 r2 ent - user can not log into remote desktop after installing march's 2015 important updates

we installed march's 2015 important updates onto all of our servers. three of our servers are not allowing RDP.
these servers have windows server 2008 r2 enterprise sp1 installed.
we enter in the username and password in the rdp dialog box and click on ok. the rdp dialog box comes back for us to enter in the username and password.
we do have kb3046049 and kb3002657 installed.
is there a v2 of kb 3002657 for windows server 2008 r2 enterprise?
on one of the servers
1. I disabled rdp
2. stop and start the following services
remote desktop configuration
remote desktop services
remote desktop services usermode port redirector
remote procedure call
3. enabled rdp
4. added the users allowed to rdp into server
This allowed us to RDP into that box with the username and password.
But the other two servers the steps performed above did not work.
Any solutions for Win Svr 2008 R2 enter sp1?

Accidentally removed the ability to use remote desktop

Thanks to anyone that can assist.
Using SBS2011 Standard:
Whilst remotely connected and investigating ways to allow an ordinary domain user to have login access to the server, I inadvertently removed the ability of the primary domain admin user to gain access with remote desktop. By primary domain admin
user, I mean the default user created for administrative purposes at SBS set up/install time.
I was able to regain remote desktop access by adding this user to the Remote Desktop Users group. However this is really a workaround rather than proper corrective action. I know that this is not necessary in a basic default setup of SBS2011 as there are
other almost identical servers I look after where I have not needed to do this and yet still have remote desktop connection capability with "out of the box" settings.
Also, I would really like to find out what mistake I made so that I can avoid doing this again.

somehow the admin user was no longer a member of Administrators. I am baffled as to how I managed to achieve this because to the best of my memory, Administrators group membership was not one of the things I looked at in connection with my intent (read on
for my logic in this respect).

WRT granting a user logon rights at the server, I hear what you are saying and even said the same to myself. But let's just for the moment look at the real world rather than the ideal world. Many SBS installations are in the types of businesses that are,
let's face it, small (after all that is what the first S in SBS stands for). Such business cannot afford qualified IT personel and as such need to designate certain trusted members of staff to carry out some of the things that, if they had any, IT personel
would normally do. For example, swapping external USB hdd's and monitoring backup success/failure.
Rather than allow them to logon to the server as an administrator, safer I would have thought to allow them to logon as a user. Unless you can tell me of a way that this can be done from a user logon at their client PC? My knowledge is not encyclopaedic
so I am open to suggestions of a better way if such a way exists.

Like Dave said, you can lower the colors. You can also set a lower screen resolution on the client your connecting to.
There are things that can slow down ARD. For instance: copying files over the network, Watching youtube, listening to streaming music, Downloading files, video chat, audio chat. Or an active time machine backup running to a time capsul.
If you have the option of using your wired network over wireless. And your wired network is faster; then you could try using the wired network.
If your computer and or the client computer is on wireless, you could try moving the computers closer to the wireless access points. Do the computers have 1 bar , 2 bars, 3 bars or 4 bars in airport menu?
Are you using ARD at home on a small network? OR are you on a larger buisness network?
If your on a small home network. You could look at your router to find out if it's 802.11 a, b, g, or n.

Help reqd for printing the word text into two lines(AMOUNT in Rupees)

Im working for cheque printing and in the Amount in words column....im getting the text in a single line...as i've made it as in my script.
(im moving the rate in to amount thru FM "HR_IN_CHG_INR_WRDS"....
and it displaying into a single line....)
But in every bank cheque...we have only a limit space for the first line and balance words should come in to the next line....How to achieve this in my form print.(when im giving the cheque(laser print) inside the printer for print)...

RUPEES Ninety Seven Thousand Thirty seven and four paise only.(its going out in my cheque as it's coming in a single line,going beyond the words column)
the above one...i want to print it as two lines as like in normal cheque...
what condition i've to give and how to split the text or make it to continue in the second line....

Help mini will only play if plugged into speakers

Got a new ipod mini 4gb two weeks before christmas, it worked fine until yesterday when I was given some speakers for it, to use instead of the headphones. These speakers charge the ipod at the same time, so I thought they were fantastic.
Today however, the screen is completely blank unless it is plugged into these speakers. - They are official speakers LOGIC 3 IP106, which are designed for ipod's. I've tried resetting, but all i've got is a completely blank screen. I've tried attaching to my pc, but again a completely blank screen. Plug it back into the speakers, apple logo appears, songs start to play straightaway and battery is showing as fully charged.
Can anyone help please.

I've tried it so many times it hurts. If I plug it into the speakers, all the personal settings are now gone, so obviously at some point, the reset has worked... but if it's not plugged in then all I get is a blank screen not an apple logo at all.
I'm now hoping that it will run out of charge as i've heard that can help, but if it's not being used at all, and is sitting in what looks like a turned off state, I'm guessing that it will take a while to loose charge.
