Help: iphoto is no longer working after MacBook Pro was upgraded to OS X Yosemite

Upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS X Yosemite last week. Everything works fine except iPhoto. It keeps asking for upgrade but keeps showing the upgrade is not available for my apple id.

If this started happening without your having made any changes and without a warning of low disk space, then it's likely that the startup drive, or some other hardware component, is failing. Back up all data immediately, then make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

I just did a software update to OS 10.7.2 and upon restart my trackpad no longer works.  The button does but not the pad. Any thoughts?  I have never had a problem with it.  There is no battery issue.  No buckling or swelling.  It worked, then I updated it to 10.72, restarted, and now it doesn't.

  • HELP! iPod no longer works after update

I've been using my 20gb clickwheel ipod without incident for a year now, my last update had been iTunes 5 and hadn't updated my iPod recently either (why bother..it worked fine?).
I wanted to purchase music from the iTunes music store, but it wouldn't let me unless I upgraded to iTunes 6 and updated my iPod. OK - so I did that- upgraded iTunes to 6.0.1 and updated tghe iPod using the latest updated dated 2005-10-12. Then the horror begins.
On the first attempted synch post update - my iPod screen turned into a folder/exclamation point icon and stopped working. I tried resetting by holding down the center button and menu..it restarted and went back to the same folder/exclamation point icon. No luck.
I've tried restoring it repeatedly and then synching my library back to the now clean and restored iPod and it stops synching at different points and crashes (after 31 songs - crash iTunes - iPod freezes on the "Do not disconnect" screen - strange clicking noise - restore - try again - 58 songs...same... restore ..again...45 songs.. you get the picture).
It worked fine BEFORE the update except I couldn't purchase music. There has been NO change except installing the updates (it hasn't been jostled, dropped or anything). What can I do? The update killed my iPod?!!!! I am at my wits end!!!!!!
    -Tory

OK..I've tried many things and my iPod is still hosed after updating. I upgraded my Mac to Tiger. I was told that the there might be some issues with synching using firewire with the new update - so I bought a USB cable and tried synching with that.
I have the same issue as before. I can restore the iPod, but when I start synching my music from Itunes back to the blank, restored iPod - it synches up anywhere from 20-200 songs and then freezes (spinning beach ball on one song halfway synched for an hour - then force quit iTunes - and start all over again: restore, synch, crash).
You know, I got burned by the 1st generation 5gb iPod battery issue, then the headphone jack stopped working on my 2nd generation, now my monochrome clickwheel iPod freaks out after Apple forces me to update so I can get my paid music back (it removed, yes, REMOVED my purchased songs because I was still using an older version of iTunes - when I updated to 6 I got them back - how Microsoft is THAT?).
I am really losing my faith in Apple's ability to make a quality product.I am despondent. If anyone has any advice - I would be most grateful...

  • External mouse and keyboard no longer work after 10.8.5 upgrade

Today I upgraded from OSX 10.8.4 to 10.8.5 on my macbook pro 17". This upgrade caused by external mouse and keyboard to completely stop working. I tried installing the 10.8.5 "combo" install (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1676) and also tried resetting the PRAM, but neither action had any effect.
I also tried restoring to an older time machine backup with 10.8.4, but could only figure out how to restore files, not the entire system.
I've lost a day of work at this point, I need help... How can I get back to 10.8.4 or get the mouse/keyboard working again on 10.8.5??

Try booting into the Safe Mode.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application uninstaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Mail search no longer works after 10.7.2 upgrade

The search field in the upper right hand corner no longer returns any results, from any mailbox, regardless of the text I type in.  This was working fine until I upgraded to 10.7.2.  I absolutely rely on the search feature as my mail messages are a wealth of information for me.
    Help!
    Brian

I've managed to get it working after trying the following:
    1. Used Disk Utility to repair permissions on my main drive
    2. In Terminal used the comand "sudo mdutil -v -i on /"
That tells spotlight to turn indexing on for that drive.
    3. Did a restart
I'd recommend trying the permissions and a restart first and if that doesn't help then try the command line fix.
The first time I ran it without -v so got no feedback on what it was doing. Stopping it and trying to do it again gave me the message "Error: Index is already changing state.  Please try again in a moment." After the restart it now says:
    Indexing enabled.
Scan base time: 2011-10-19 07:40:10 +0100 (60 seconds ago), reasoning: 'scan not required - avoided catchup scan'
Now mail is back to how it was before the 10.7.2 update, happy days.

  • Built in iSight is no longer working after hard drive was replaced

I have a 2008 MacBook Pro that has served me well up until recently.
I had my hard drive replaced about a week ago and now I've noticed that my built in iSight is no longer working.
It doesn't work with any application or on any user.
The green light no longer comes on.
I noticed this the other day on my gmail account, no longer showing the camera icon next to my name when i'm online.
So I tried pulling it up on photobooth and ichat etc...no luck.
    What should I do?
    Please help.
    Thank you.

Take your MBP back to whoever replaced the drive and ask them to resolve the rest of the problem.
(Before taking it in, make a current backup if you have added ANYTHING since you got the new drive)
If you want to try some things on your own before you take it back for professional resolution, here are a couple of relatively simple things you can try:
Reset the SMC.  Instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • Android remote iTunes app no longer works after 10.5.2 upgrade.

Until the 10.5.2 iTunes update, I was able to use the Android app, Remote for iTunes, to enable my Android tabs to control iTunes on my Windows 7 machine.  After this upgrade, my tablets no longer show up as "devices" in iTunes.  Am I the only one to experience this?

    Thanks for your replies.
I don't think I described my problem adequately. Before updating to 10.5.2 the clamshell mode worked correctly: I closed the lid, waited 30 seconds, then touched the keyboard and - presto! - the cinema display came alive with the desktop shown. I understand how the clamshell mode is supposed to work because it used to work just fine.
My problem now is that it no longer works the way it is supposed to. If I wait 30 seconds after closing the lid of the MBP and then touch / attach an external keyboard, nothing happens. I am following the proper steps to use clamshell mode (at least the steps that previously worked), but they do not appear to be effective any longer.
I appreciate the advice I have received about how the clamshell mode is supposed to work. Unfortunately, following those standard steps is not leading to successful operation in clamshell mode.
    Thanks,
    Danny

  • Installed Apps No Longer Work After 3.1.3 Upgrade

Last night I upgraded to 3.1.3, and since then NONE of the Apps that I installed works... Each time I try to open any of them, it will open and stop just as quickly, taking me back to the Home screen...
I thought at first it was only the Apps that required Internet Access (IM and/or Email Apps)... However, I was able to open a web page using Safari, and the Email App included in iPhone STILL works... And, like it would normally do, it would check first for a local wireless network, and switch to 3G if it does not find one... However, in this case, when trying any of the Apps I've installed, it does not even check at all for a network or 3G, the Apps just shut down just as quickly as I launch them...
Since then I've discovered that ALL the Apps I've downloaded and installed prior to the upgrade no longer work...
I have cycled the power on the iPhone (Turning it OFF by means of the SLEEP button, and then back on minutes after than), but that doesn't solve the problem...
    Any information would be appreciated...
    Thanks for your time...

Did you try a reboot (by means of BOTH the Sleep and Home buttons and holding both IGNORING the slide to turn off, and keep holding until you finally see the Apple Logo?)

  • Why do regular stereo mini jack headphones no longer work in macbook pro

I have a macbook pro (2009) v10.9.5, 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo. Lately normal non apple stereo mini jack headphones no longer work. The jack doesn't cut the speaker sound as normal. It wasn't like this until comparatively recently. Apple iphone headphones do work.. is this a software or hardware problem?

That is odd.  Try a NVRAM reset:

  • Time Machine no longer working on Macbook Pro

I am at my wits end, have 2 Macbook Pro'sand one no longer backups up in TM (simply spins forever in 'Preparing Files'). I upgraded to Snow Leopard, which exposed the bad disk, and had both the disk replaced and OS re-installed. Still no luck, it simply spins for days. My other Macbook Pro backs up flawlessly every day on the same wireless network. Apple does not seem to know what the problem is, I tried renaming the machine to no avail. Any ideas on what to try next???

Sometimes there is no answer to the "preparing" issue other than deleting the backups for that computer and starting over with a new backup. But, before that there are several steps that can and should be taken.
It would be a good idea to first use Disk Utility to check the hard drive on the MacBook Pro that is giving you problems.
Open Hard Drive > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
On the left, click the exact name of your hard drive as it appears on your desktop.
    Click Repair Permissions
The process will take approximately 30-90 minutes depending on how much data you have on your computer.
Once completed, try a backup again. Be ready to let "preparing" run for a few hours. If no progress after 4 hours, then stop the process and we'll try some more steps.

  • Airplay doesn't work after Macbook Pro repair

I have a late-2011 Macbook Pro running OS X 10.9.4. I was having trackpad and stability issues so I brought my computer to the Apple store for service. It was sent out for repair and returned with several new parts, including motherboard, trackpad and battery. Since then, Airplay will not work - it worked before the repair, as well as working perfectly on my iPhone currently. There is no Airplay icon on the computer, and when I go to the Display settings it says no devices are detected. I'm up to date with all software. When I restarted the computer, the Airplay icon appeared - I clicked on it, selected AppleTV, then got an error message saying it could not connect. Then the icon disappeared. I've tried restarting my AppleTV, as well as updating the software - still works fine on the iPhone, but not the Macbook Pro. I'm using the same wireless for everything. Thanks for any suggestions!

    first of all
thank you for helping me fixing this problem. I got the report of my network and it shows in the image the result.
also the TV is near my ATV along with the router'EA2700' and modem from grande communication but nothing in top of others or closed space. also it is not encrypted

  • Eject button no longer works on macbook pro

    Hey Everyone,
I just recently purchased a Macbook Pro and it has been working great. I have had it for about a month and just recently, the eject button does not do anything anymore.
I am wondering if I turned it off or something by mistake. Does anyone know how to fix this, or could this be a faulty button on the keyboard?
    Thanks,
    Dave

You may have already tried this however if not then try resetting the PRAM.
    1. Shut the computer off.
    2. Restart holding the Option-Command-R-P keys down, wait for three "bongs" and release the keys. The computer will then boot normally.
This will clear the PMU and may help ejecting the CD/DVD issue.
