Help: JDBC Thick driver giving strange error!

Hi fellows,
I encounter this run-time error when booting up my application. We recently just switched the JDBC driver from thin driver (which worked) to thick OCI8 driver.
Can anyone please enlighten me as to how to remedy this issue? Thank you a million!

Hi keko,
replace the classes12.jar/classes12.zip used by your application with the one from the database [ present in ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib ]. Also check if you have set ORACLE_HOME env variable and
( only for Solaris and Linux )
put ORACLE_HOME/lib in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH
is it a web app or a stand - alone one ?

In the above error message "BAIJU.CHILDREF" is not actual table name (actual table name
on which i have created the entity bean is "BAIJU.CHILD_REF").I have noticed that Websphere by default removes any underscore ("_") from the table name or the Column name of the table (I have checked this in Schema.dbxmi & Map.mapxmi files). I have many tables names & column names which has underscore character in it. Every tables which has
underscores ("_") gives almost similar error.
The tables which doesn't have underscore ("_") in there name & which contains the column names without underscore ("_") works fine.
Does this means that Application deployed on WAs 4.0 should not have underscores ("_")
as the table & column name ??????

Are you using the DB2 JDBC driver, by default db2 will treat _ as wildcards for table names, you have to disable the wildcard property or else rename your table.
You can do this by using the client configuration assistant and disabling the wildcard property or by editting the db2cli.ini file directly.
Ensure that you have registered the database as an cli/odbc datasource so that the properties can be set, when u do this an entry will be created in the db2cli.ini file which is located in the c:\sqllib folder, edit the entry for the datasource and add the following line
UNDERSCORE=0

Help, please. Console logging strange error repeatedly

Hello, I am very low on hard drive space suddenly, and it was suggested that I check the console log. Sure enough, there is an error repeating over and over. I'm not sure if fixing this will solve the hard drive space problem, but I'd still like to fix it. Here is the error:

Hello. I am having exactly the same problem. I just installed software from Western Digital from my new external hard drive. Now I get contunuous error messages: I/O warning: failed to load external entity "/Users/Me/Documents/ArcSoft/WD Backup/BackupSchedule.xml". The Western Digital software does not install this file, I can find no reference to it on their web page, I have no backup tasks pending using this program, and there is no uninstall program I can use to remove Western Digital's Backup program. Any suggestions or similar experiences?

Help with dvd drive - region code error

Hi, I really need to change the drive region code on my Ibook G4 (OS X 10.4.10) back to Region 2. I'm allowed to change it one last time.
But the trouble is, when I try and change it and click 'set drive region' it just comes up with an error message -70001, 'There was a problem changing the drive region code.'
I've reset the PMU and PRAM/NVRAM but it still does it.
Can anybody help me at all? It's driving me mad, I was banking on being able to change it back to my Region one last time...

Insert a DVD which is set to play in only one region; if you try using up your last change with a DVD that can play in some but not all regions, that error message will appear. Many DVDs which are set to play in region 2 will also play in region 4.

Back up drive giving strange prompts.

Time Machine (as well as many other features) does not play well with software that I have installed for work. Because of this, I perform manual back ups of individual things on a regular basis. For example, I drag the iPhoto Library file to the back up drive every couple of weeks, and this has worked without fail up until today, when upon dragging the file to the drive, I received a strange prompt. Instead of asking if I wanted to replace the older file with the new one, it asked if I wanted to replace the newer files (referring to the older ones on the back up drive) with an older version (which was the most up to date). I don't understand why this would happen, it seems quite counter-intuitive, and because I was expecting the usual prompt, I clicked OK and lost about five weeks of photos. Not the end of the world, but it's continuing to give me this backwards prompt. I checked the disk in disk utility and it seems to be operating just fine, as is the rest of the computer, but I don't understand why the computer thinks that I would want to replace the file that I'm dragging with the one in the destination folder. Seems kind of backwards to me. I'm running Snow Leopard on a fairly new iMac. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If you are running Snow Leopard then it isn't a fairly new iMac. Snow Leopard was replaced as the shipping operating system back in the middle of 2011, almost 2 years ago.
But as to your problem it really sounds like you are dragging from the external backup drive to the internal drive and not from internal to external. There is no way you would get that prompt, Replace newer with older, otherwise.
Disconnect the external, reboot the system and try again. Open 2 Finder windows one highlighting the internal the other focused on the external and Drag + Drop (Which in my opinion is a poor way to copy files) or better Command+c from internal to copy and Command+v to paste to external.

Oracle (JDBC) Thin Driver Ora-00600 Error

Hi,
I'm using Oracle9i JDeveloper and trying to access an Oracle 9.2.0.2 database using the oracle thin driver.
Sometimes I get the error message "SQLException: ORA-00600: internal error code" when I execute queries. When I change the query to select smaller fields, it seems okay.
Can someone help me out with this?

Ora-600 errors typically are:
(1) Accompanied by subsequent error number information
in square brackets like:
ORA-600:[12345] [] [] [] []
(2) A server-side trace file written out
We need the additional information of that error number in brackets to help you more.

I'm trying to debug in Visual Cafe (JDK 1.1.7) and have both the classes111.zip and the nls_charset11.zip in my CLASSPATH.

If you're using 8i 8.1.7.1 or 8i 8.1.7.0 thin JDBC drivers on NT, then you can get them to connect to 9i by applying the 8i 8.1.7.1 Patch available at:
http://technet.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/solsoft.html
You might have to register/login first.
Basically, it's just a case of replacing a class already in your classes111.zip or classes12.zip with the class in the patch.
Took me a while to find this, but it worked first time after patching. Hope this helps.

1. Performance of the Java application.
The difference in driver implementation is likely to be trivial compared to other considerations (network round trip time, application design, etc). However if you are really interested then chapter 19 of 'Java Programming with Oracle JDBC' by Donald Bales (O'Reilly) has some good information on this topic. Keep in mind that it is a little out of date now - you should run tests using the current versions of the drivers.
2. Maintenance and administration
The JDBC Thin driver is typically easier to update/distribute, as installation consists of copying a .jar file or two. The only case where OCI has an advantage is in the use of Oracle's naming layer for database service abstraction. Of course this assumes the database server is listening for TCP/IP and not the legacy protocols that are only supported by OCI. Failover configurations using TAF are supported by OCI only. The newer 'Fast Connection Failover' feature of 10g RAC can also run over Thin though.
3. Known issues with OCI (thick) driver which is handled by Thin or vice versa.
In my experience each has a roughly equal number of bugs. I find it easier to track them down in the Thin driver though :-)
4. Better security
The security options for the Thin driver are more limited with regard to external authentication and support for some of the Oracle Advanced Security features. How to handle ORA-28001 error with JDBC thin driver ?

Dear reader,
As you all know, ORACLE returns error ORA-28001 upon a connection attempt when the user's password has expired.
Handling the error in OCI is quite simple, thanks to the function OCIPasswordChange(). However, I have not been able to find a JAVA equivalent in the Oracle JDBC library.
I have found a field called oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.set_new_password_string, and a field oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection.CONNECTION_PROPERTY_SET_NEW_PASSWORD, but I have really no idea on how to use them (if appropriate) so as to allow the user to change his/her password on the fly.
I greatly appreciate having any advice from anyone who happened to be faced with that problem.

DFS network drive giving error to many clients of Windows 7 and 8.1 after accessing from run

My network drive (DFS) is giving below error after upgrade OS from windows 2008 to 2012. On many clients of windows 7 and 8.1 we are able to resolve
by rebooting the system or by net use * /d command. But many user still getting error after accessing from mapped drive as well as from RUN command.
some area stupid thing happening, after accessing from RUN like \\networkdrive then it will open successfully and show all the shared folder. When we
click on particular shared folder it gives below error message and some works perfectly fine. Even though that person have rights on both the shared folder.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

The best approach would be to take the iPad to the school's IT person and see what is going wrong, why it will not accept your sign-in. That person can make sure the userid and password are correct on the iPad.

I'm seeing this same issue as well. The only difference is that I have WebLogic 8.1 running on Windows 2003. I can start up the server fine as long as I'm connected to the network. When I do not have a connection, weblogic throws an UnknownHostException stating that it cannot find my server.
          Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a MacBook Pro, Matshita UJ-857E while recording music my drive reported an error: Sense Key=HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code=0x03,0x01 I have no idea what this means, and now my cd burner/player won't work. can someone help me fix this problem?

I can select my songs, and then it asks for a blank disc. It starts preparing to write the disc,then it says,"

Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix it or what this means because I have no idea what it is talking about or how to begin to fix the problem?

This is an error reported by the optical drive's firmware. The tracking servo is the servomechanism which guides the laser pickup along the track on the optical disc. The error means that the servo couldn't do its job within the programmed parameters. What it doesn't say is why.
You have to be very precise as to when this error occurs. If it occurs as you wrote, while it "starts preparing to write the disc", and not when it has actually began to burn, then it's likely that the drive has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
There are other possibilities, so you should check them, but they would be more likely if the error occurred after the drive began to write. OrangeMarlin has suggested two options -- try a different brand of CD or DVD, and try cleaning the lens.
