HELP - Logic Studio died on install..

Got within last 2 dvds - just finished installing "Jam Pack Content 2" - when the install program asked to see "the LOGIC" disk. Time until total install was still 6 hrs out according to installer. Suspecting it flubbed and desired what the next two disks, I inserted the "Jam Pack Content 3" dvd and after spinning up, was not acknowledged by the installer. I then inserted the first dvd - "Logic Studio Install" and after spinning up, stopped the installation giving the error: "Install Failed. The source media you are installing from is damaged. Try installing from a different copy of the source media or contact the manufacturer for a replacement". Having written installers in the past, I dont believe it's really flawed. The last dvd was "Demo Content" - never installed. Any clues where to go from here? the install was over 30 hours initially - do I have to do this again only to have it fail again? Is there any way to determine what "was" installed then perform a custom install for items missing?
Seeking advice.
Thanks..

Still, if you are getting a kernel panic, something is wrong. Kernel panics indicate a problem on the OS or hardware level. It's totally different than if the installer simply crashes and leaves a crash report.
As far as the amount remaining, I wouldn't worry about the installer's estimate. But, I'd definitely worry about the kernel panic.

  • Why wont my Logic Studio installer fully install?

i had manually uninstalled logic studio months ago.. now that i have an external hd im installing it again but it wont install many of the other components.. they are grayed out and uncheckable (soundtrack pro, compressor, apple loops, and many more)... i need help so that i can have logic studio on my mac and the additional content on my external hd...
    thanks in advance!

Although not offically supported, there is a workaround people have been using to get Logic 8 to work on Lion. All you need to do is highlight the Logic 8 app in finder, right-click, select "Show Package Contents", double click on the "Contents" folder and inside of this folder is a folder that's labled "MacOs." If you double-click on the "Logic Pro" file inside, Logic 8 will open. You might be able to make an alias of this file to cut out the other steps, but I haven't tried it.
This works for people who already had Logic 8 installed and upgraded to Lion.

  • My logic studio 8 wont instal because of /

i try  to instal my logic studio 8 and it starts to instal but 15 minutes in it says it wont instal because of /
    help me

    Hi,
The forward slash / usually refers to a mount point, or a volume which could be a hard drive, partition or a DVD,
for example Macintosh HD or Audio Backup ,etc. What ever the label that hard drive or disc has.
Did the installer aske you for a second disc?

  • Major Logic Studio 9 Upgrade install issues

I tried to install Logic Studio 9 upgrade today and there are a lot of problems. For one, Compressor 3.5 did not install, leaving me with 3.0.5. Quartermaster also did not update, leaving me with 3.0.5 of that as well. Soundtrack is at version 3.0.1.
The Logic Studio 9 Installer just keeps Soundtrack and Compressor grayed out, so I can't do anything about that. I followed the instructions on the Knowledge Base article about the iLife 11 conflict, but that didn't make any difference.
I also cannot log into the updates page on Apple's web site here (http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/download/). I have tried my Logic Studio 8 serial number and the serial number from my Logic Studio 9 Upgrade, and it just keeps telling me that they are invalid numbers. I have tried them with and without the dashes. The LS9 Upgrade installer accepted my serial numbers no problem, and I sent the registration to Apple. I'm totally baffled as to why the web page is denying me access.
I have spent HOURS on just trying to get this software installed properly, and I have never seen such a mess. I wish I could just uninstall everything and start over but they don't even include an uninstaller. So at this point I have no clue how to get access to the support page since it's denying my serial numbers and it's not letting me update Compressor or Quartermaster (but everything else seems to have updated). It also keeps EX24 synth grayed out.
I know this is a mess of a post but I've been trying to get this going for hours and hours and am exhausted and frustrated. Thanks for any advice.

Ok, for some reason the Apple Support site is accepting my serial number okay, but it seems what's available as far as downloads is out of date compared to the software update tab.
It seems my biggest problem remaining is just that I have Qmaster 3.0.5 and Compressor 3.0.5 which did not get updated to 3.5 (and then upped to 3.5.3 each with the ProApp Update 2010-02).
I have never had Final Cut, any version, installed so it can't be that, and the iLife 11 "forget pkg" solution from the Knowledge Base didn't work. So what gives? How can I get Compressor and Quartermaster installed?

  • Logic Studio won`t install on my new iMac

When I try to install Logic Studio on my new iMac, it just stops and say "Unknown failure detected" and the whole process is interrupted.
    Does anyone know why?
I have installed Logic Studio with the same serialnumber on my MacBook Pro....

As the error states correctly: your computer is new, has an Intel CPU and Lion. You were using a version of Logic released in Feburary 2006 - 5 years old. That one can't run on a different CPU, new OS version, new hardware.
    Time to get an upgrade:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB798Z/A
Apples upgrades don't require to install older versions, clean install, just the old serial number/XSKey is needed for the installation.

  • Installing Logic Pro 9 upgrade on a different Mac than the one that Logic Studio 8 is installed on.

I have Logic Studio 8 installed on an OLD Mac Mini (10.6.8).  It's not really worth the hassle to upgrade hardware (and the hardware that can be upgraded in that Mac Mini is limited).  Am I entitled to the Logic Pro 9 upgrade to install on my brand new Macbook Pro using the serial number from Logic Studio 8 on the Mac Mini?  Or do I need to purchase the full version of Logic Pro 9 to put on the Macbook Pro?  The new Macbook Pro has never had Logic Studio 8 installed on it.  (In fact it won't install because the Macbook Pro is running 10.7.2.

You can purchase the Upgrade and install it on your New MBP...
Just have the Serial Number from LP 8 handy for when you are asked for it...
After the install you will need to run Software update to get the Latest version of Logic 9 for Lion..
Or you can Download it from Here

  • Logic Studio Won't Install...

    Apple says:
    • Mac computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4 processor (PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor highly recommended)
    (I have a G4 AGB at 1.5GHz)
    • 1GB of RAM (2GB or more highly recommended)
    (I have 1GB)
    • Display with 1024-by-768 resolution (1280-by-800 or higher recommended)
    (Yup)
    • Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later
    (10.4.10)
    • QuickTime 7.2 or later
    (Yup)
    • DVD drive for installation
    (Yup)
    • PCI Express, ExpressCard/34, USB, or FireWire based audio interface recommended
    (ProTools HD|2 Accel on PCI)
    Available Disk Space
    • 7GB to install all applications and required content
    • Additional 39GB to install all optional content (large content packages can be installed on separate disk):
    – 10GB for Jam P
    (Yup)
When I open the installer it tells me Alert:
My Video card is recommended to have more VRAM than I have.
My Video card is not recommended Open GL, doesn't do recommended Quartz.
I don't have recommended 2 GB of RAM
So when I press close on the alert, the installer quits.
I can't install any portion of Logic Studio (all I want to install is Logic 8 Pro).
These requirements aren't listed on the Logic Studio minimum requirements page or on the box or in the literature...So what gives? Can I or can't I run Logic 8 on my AGP Graphics G4 1.5 Ghz machine with 1 GB RAM?

  • Logic Studio 9 Not Installing on G5

I know Logic 9 is not fully supported on PPC G5's but I also know people have installed it without any issues.  I'm trying to do an upgrade from Logic Pro 6.4 to Logic Studio 9 on a PPC G5 w/dual 2.0ghz processors.  I start the set up and when I get to the screen where you enter your Serial # for L9 I type it in, and hit the 'continue' button and the progress wheel starts to spin.  And that's it.  It stays there and never goes to the Installation Type page.  I called Apple support and the first guy I spoke to sent me a link check if my XSKey had any issues (Logic Pro: How to use the XSKey Updater) I ran that and it found no issues.  I called back Support, and the guy I spoke to told me that L9 can't be installed on PPC's, and there was nothing else they could tell me but to upgrade to an Mac Pro or use Logic 8.  Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to proceed?  I can't return Logic 9 now since its open and its useless right now.  I know this software works on this computer.

No release of Logic Studio 2 (Logic Pro 9, MainStage 2) was supported on PowerPC, Apple always clearly advertised it as Intel-only!
However Logic Pro 9.0 up to 9.0.2 could be installed on a PowerPC anyway, because it still had that code (as an undocumented feature). This went away - if I remember correctly - when the 64-bit version of Logic Pro 9.1 arrived. From that point on Logic Studio no longer contained any PowerPC code. Any Logic Studio box sold in the last 1.5 years can not be used on a G5, no chance.

Brand new computer? Brand new program? I'd call Apple and let them figure it out for you.

  • Logic Studio 9 Not installing on a new MacBook Pro

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro (Retina) running the Mountain Lion (10.8.3). When I try to run the installer i'm being told that I can't run the installer because Power PC Applications are no longer supported even through the discs indicate it is a Universal App.
Any idea what gives?? I was able to install it on another MacBook Pro I got last year.

Last time I checked Pacifist, it allows the user to extract the component parts out of a package.
Have they now updated it to allow for Pacifist to actually run the Installer Script, too (in such a way as to duplicate the action of the original Installer script)?
I think that you will find that it has done so for some time, but it certainly does now:

  • Installing Logic Studio (Academic) over Logic Pro 8 (Academic)

    Hello -
I just purchased Logic Studio (9?) and have 8 on my computer. Will the install overwrite the significant files, or should I delete 8 before I install? Is there a doc somewhere which indicates where the files that aren't relevant to the new release (but were to 8) are so I can do some housekeeping?
    Thanks!

To continue to use Applications that require Rosetta in Lion (such as Logic Studio 8), consider installing Snow Leopard (and Rosetta) into Parallels 7 in Lion:

  • Can't see Jam Pack Loops in Logic Studio Browser

I have searched many other forums but can't find the same problem. Usually it relates to a separate disk for loops.
I have Garageband and 4 Jam packs installed on my computer (Dual G5 latest OSX up to date). Jam pack 1, Rhythm Section, Symphony Orchestra and something else... anyway I purchased Logic Studio (8) and installed that. During installation I noticed that it detected that I already had some of the Jam Pack loops on my drive so they were "unchecked" automatically and therefore didn't install. Now when I look in the loop browser only the Jam Packs that Logic did install are viewable in my loop browser. Yet the other jam packs are indeed viewable in Garageband. All of this is installed on a single internal drive that is the system drive (500GB) by the way. So I dragged the Jam Pack folders to the logic loop browser and it appeared to be adding the loops, but they are still not visible there.
Also, there is no dialogue box that appears to ask if I want to copy them or leave in current location as many other users have said it should ask. maybe that's because it's all on one drive though.
The other concern is that I wonder if the software instruments that come with the jam packs would be installed/available in Logic? Surely not, if I am just adding the loops to the browser. How do I ensure that I have access to all of the loops and all of the software instruments?
Can anyone please help with this, it would be much appreciated.

    Hi Jaffles,
The best thing to doo is go to the various "Apple Loops Index" folders, remove all the index files that are in there and then reindex your loops by dragging them into the loop Browser. The index files will then be rebuilt.
    regards, Erik.

  • Just upgraded to Logic studio from Logic Pro 7 Some Tips

    Hi All
Just sharing some of my tips.
Tip1: If you have an "academic" version, it could be the "retail" version. I purchased the academic version 4 years ago. To my surprise, I discovered it's the full version, the apple store just put an academic sticker on the shrink wrap. The "obvious" signs: XSKey has retail on it. When loading there's no academic version on the title. The box has a barcode sticker that says retail.
Tip 2: When upgrading to Logic Studio. The install discs are full installs. What did this mean to me. Well I have a G5 iMac and intel MacBook. Logic Pro 7.2 was the first "universal version". One would assume you would have to upgrade to 7.2 (which has been discontinued) for the MacBook, then upgrade to Studio. Not the case. All you need is the XSKey plugged into the MacBook and install the Logic Studio (upgrade). Type in the serial code and your away. All my MacBook had installed was Leopard 10.5.
Hopefully these tips help people some people out.

    Peace. . . .
