Have you ever experienced the following error message when you imported the db..?
Also I could see the import was not done successfully when I compared my ddlfileold.sql which is already done using this same dump file
    My actions to make ddlfile
    - I have tried three times to make ddlfile but I failed all and met the same error message.
    try 1 : using 9210 version
    try 2 : using 9206 version
try 3 : using 9206 version at other machine.
I need your advice and help.
    Thanks,
    Riaz.

This means the export dump file is corrupted.
In UNIX see this command to see whether the dump file is complete
    $ tail expdat.dmp
It should have EXIT in the last line.

  • IMP-00009: abnormal end of export file

When I try to import my dump file i receive this error IMP-00009: abnormal end of export file even if my buffer is set to 2000000000.
    Any help would be great.
    Regards

The export file is probably from an aborted Export session. Better retry the export and then import it again, if possible.
If not possible, report this as an Import bug and submit the export file that caused this error to Oracle Support Services.

IMP-00009: abnormal end of export file.
I have received a 34 GB dmp file exported using exp utility 9.2. and i am importing it into 10.2.0.1.0
    1) Not sure wheher its exported from Unix or windows.. how to make out?
    2)I imported using ...BIN>imp user1/pwd FILE=C:\exp.dmp
    SHOW=y fromuser=user2 touser=user1 ROWS=Y IGNORE=y GRANTS=y Constraints=
    y log=C:\exp.log
Note my login user and my to user are same and i have grant DBA to user1.
3)When i import, after an hour+ it terminates saying abruprt end of export file.
4)I am not aware of the command used for export whether its FULL DB or only user etc.... how to find out? from show = y i selected 1 username and used it as from user.
5)This file was sent to me through a FTP server from where i downloaded.
Plz help i need to import urgently, what should i be doing?

I also read that FULL=Y is not supported when i import 9i dmp into 10g dmp. Is it true?False
It is an export of the Backup it seems. What difference does it make if we export from DB Backup and export from DB itself? There is nothing called export of a backup. The dump is created by an oracle binary called EXPORT.
You can execute this command against an oracle database
    exp username/pwd@hoststring file=c:\oracle\bk\test.dmp fully=y....and so on

  • Abnormal end of export file

    Hi!
During an import, Oracle generates the following error:
Abnormal end of export file ...
Is any way or hint to fix the end of file ??
    TIA
    Angel Castro

    Hi Angel
In that case passed 2 possible things:
1.- The transfer to the tape or from the tape ot disk was not in binary mode
2.- The export utility did not finish succesful the exportation when somebody was doing that activity.

  • IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification

    Hi everyone,
I am new in oracle's world, and I've been working with an export from a sun platform, and I try to import to a windows platform. I've been receiving this message error
IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
Please, help me I have to finish with that today..
Thanks and have a nice New Year

    thanks for your answer.
sorry, but I don't have all exact information, because that export is comming from a client, and I don't know all information. I only know that the platform is sun.
I received the file via an usb memory, directly from the source.
I've been read that if you make an export in sun platform and it isn't as binary when you transfer it to a windows platform, it will be corrupt.
    Could you confirm me that?

  • IMP-00010: not a valid export file (downward from 10.2.0.1 to 8.1.7.0)

    Hi,
We have requirement to transfer User's all tables from 10.2.0.1 database to 8.1.7.0 database
I have successfully exported user along with all tables and its data from the 10.2.0.1 database,
now when i am doing import into 8.1.7.0, i am getting the following error :
IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
when i searched the internet, in the one blog it mentions as below :
Oracle's exp/imp utilities are not downward compatible.
you must use 9.02.1 exp to extract from instance 9.02.03 and then you are able to imp into 9.02.1
so as per above, i will have to use 8.1.7.0 exp to extract from instance 10.2.0.1 database.
So, how it can be done ?????
where i have done mistake ???
    With Regards

It seem you quoted me out of context. I was trying to point out that why read some blog entry of the 'net when the basic rules are clearly documented.
    fbortel wrote:
Well in that very same piece of documentation it becomes clear you cannot export 10G, and import into 8i.Which section says this?
The table (if that's it) gives a few exampes: "Table 19-7 shows some examples "
I'm pretty sure that anything after Oracle8 should work. As long as you are using the right version of 'exp'.
But there is a Metalink Note that goes into more detail. (and should be more correct than my memory allows me)

  • PMON / abnormal ended processes

    Hi,
as far as I understand now, PMON will clear up the resources of an abnormal ended process, release locks, blocks of the process in the database buffer cache and so on.
I'm trying to understand how Oracle will handle processes that has ended abnormal. Assuming an SQL*Plus do a network connection and starts e.g. a long running update. During this update the terminal of SQL*Plus will be killed. Will SQL*Plus rest in the database and what will happens then? Who will remove the network connection, the process from v$session and so on. These dependencies are not clear to me.
May anyone can give me a short explanation or anyone have a good link where this is explained? I know that this will be a complex issue and can't be explained with a few words, but a short explanation could help to find the right hooks to get a deeper understanding.
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards,

  • Exported Files are ending up too Small and can't figure out why? Help please!

I'm Exporting files with no constraints - film scans (jpgs) starting at 10-12MB are exporting to 2MB-3MB files. RAW images are also exporting that small. I've tried at 240dpi and 300dpi with the same results. The original film scan jpgs are 8'x12" at 300dpi and they're ending up closer to 5"x8". Any suggestions?

    BraedonF wrote:
the smart preview size was set at Medium and 5MB
You can't set smart preview size or quality (without a plugin) - it's fixed in Lightroom (e.g. size is 2560-).
The size/quality preference is for the "regular" (non-smart) previews.
    BraedonF wrote:
After re-linking the files (no longer exporting from a smart preview), the file sizes when back to normal.
But you're right - if original is offline, and you therefore export a smart preview without resizing, it'll be 2560, not the full-rez of the original (unless original is smaller than 2560), and that'll account for over-small exports sometimes..

  • Schema Import failed :IMP-00008: unrecognized statement in the export file:

    Hi ,
I was running a database schema import from a database DMP file.
I encountered the following error in the log file that was getting generated :
IMP-00008: unrecognized statement in the export file:
All the tables got copied except for one. Now what I have thought of is to import that one table again after taking an export from the prod schema.
But what about the functions, triggers, procedures ?? How do i bring all of them in the schema ?
If reimporting the schema again the only option ?
    Thanks
    Kk

    Hello,
    In this order:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/exp_imp.htm#i1023988
    Table Objects: Order of Import
Table objects are imported as they are read from the export file. The export file contains objects in the following order:
    1. Type definitions
    2. Table definitions
    3.Table data
    4.Table indexes
    5. Integrity constraints, views, procedures, and triggers
    6. Bitmap, function-based, and domain indexes
The order of import is as follows: new tables are created, data is imported and indexes are built, triggers are imported, integrity constraints are enabled on the new tables, and any bitmap, function-based, and/or domain indexes are built. This sequence prevents data from being rejected due to the order in which tables are imported. This sequence also prevents redundant triggers from firing twice on the same data (once when it is originally inserted and again during the import).
For example, if the emp table has a referential integrity constraint on the dept table and the emp table is imported first, all emp rows that reference departments that have not yet been imported into dept would be rejected if the constraints were enabled.
When data is imported into existing tables, however, the order of import can still produce referential integrity failures. In the situation just given, if the emp table already existed and referential integrity constraints were in force, many rows could be rejected.
A similar situation occurs when a referential integrity constraint on a table references itself. For example, if scott's manager in the emp table is drake, and drake's row has not yet been loaded, scott's row will fail, even though it would be valid at the end of the import.

export client uses WE8DEC character set (possible charset conversion)

The error imp-00008: unrecognized statement in the export file is it due to the Oracle version compatibility or due to Character set compatibility issue.

    2) The Oracale Database character set it WE8DEC, but when i try to create a new database in 11 , i dont find that character set , is the character set obsolete now , if so what character set is super set of WE8DEC ??
Pl post exact OS and database versions. Ideally you should be using AL32UTF8 for all new databases. WE8DEC is a deprecated characterset.
    See section 4.2.1 here - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24186/install.htm#BABFDDEA
